¹ Let as manye seruauntes as are vnder the yoke, count theyr maysters worthy of all honoure that the name of God and hys doctryne be not euyll spoken of. ² Se that they whiche haue beleuynge maysters, despyse them not because they are brethren: but so muche the rather do seruyce, for asmuch as they are beleuynge and beloued and partakers of the benefyte. ³ These thynges teache and exhorte. Yf any man teache otherwyse, and is not contente wt the holsome wordes of our Lord Iesus christ, and wyth the doctryne of Godlynes, ⁴ he is puft vp, and knoweth nothyng: but wasteth hys braynes about questyons and stryfe of wordes, whereof sprynge enuye, stryfe, raylynges, euyll surmysynges ⁵ and vayne disputacyons of men wyth corrupte myndes, and destytute of the trueth, whiche thynke that lucre is Godlines, from suche separate thy self. ⁶ Godlynes is greate ryches, yf a man be content with that he hath. ⁷ For we broughte nothynge into thys worlde & it is a playne case that we can carye nothyng out. ⁸ When we haue fode and raymente, let vs therwyth be content. ⁹ They that wyll be rych, fall into temptacyon and snares, and into many folysh and noysome lustes which drowne men in perdicyon and destruccyon. ¹⁰ For couetousnes is the rote of all euyll, whiche whyle some lusted after, they erred from the faythe and tangled them selues wyth manye sorowes. ¹¹ But thou which arte the man of GOD, flye suche thynges. Folowe ryghtuousnes. Godlynes, loue, pacyence and mekenes. ¹² Fyghte the good fyght of fayth. Laye hande on eternall lyfe, wherevnto thou arte called and hast professed a good professyon before manye wytnesses. ¹³ I geue the charge in the syght of GOD, whiche quickeneth all thynges, & before Iesu Christe whiche vnder Poncyus Pylate wytnessed a good wytnessynge, ¹⁴ that thou kepe the commaundement, and be wythout spot and vnrebukeable, vntyll the appearynge of our Lorde Iesus, ¹⁵ whiche appearynge (when the tyme is come) he shal shew that is blessed and myghtye onelye, kynge of kynges, & Lord of Lordes, ¹⁶ whiche onelye hath immortalitie, and dwelleth in lyght that no man can attayne, whome neuer man sawe, neyther can se, to whom be honoure and rule euerlastynge. Amen. ¹⁷ Charge them that are ryche in this worlde shal they be not exceadyng wyse, and that they truste not in the vncertayne ryches, but in the lyuyng God, which geueth vs aboundauntly al thynges to enioy them, ¹⁸ and that they do good and be ryche in good workes, and readye to geue and to distrybute, ¹⁹ layinge vp in store for them selues a good foundacyon agaynste the tyme to come that they maye obtayne eternal lyfe. ²⁰ O Timothe saue that whiche is geuen the to kepe, and auoyde vnghostlye vanytyes of voyces and opposicyons of science falslye so called, ²¹ whiche science whyle some professed, they haue erred as concernyng the fayth. Grace be with the. AMEN.

⁷ And there fell a stryfe betwene the herdmen of Abrams cattell, and the herdmen of Lots cattell. Moreouer the Cananites & the Pheresytes dwelled at that tyme in the land. ⁸ Then sayd Abram vnto Lot: Let there be no strife (I pray the) betwene the and me, and betwene my herdmen and thine, for we be brethren.

⁹ And the Angell of the Lorde sayde vnto her: returne to thy mastresse agayne, & submytte thy self vnder her handes.

² And he sayd vnto his eldest seruaunte of hys house whyche had the rule ouer al that he had Put thy hand vnder my they

¹² and he sayde. Lord God of my master Abraham, sende me good spede thys daye, and shewe mercye vnto my master Abraham.

²⁷ & sayd: blessed be the lorde God of my master Abraham whych ceasseth not to deale mercyfully & truly wyth my master, & hath brought me the waye to my masters brothers house.

³⁵ and the Lorde hath blessed my master out of measure, that he is become greate, & hath geuen hym shepe oxen, siluer & golde, men seruantes maydeseruantes, camels and asses. ³⁶ And Sara my masters wife bare him a sonne, when she was olde: & vnto hym hath he geuen al that he hath. ³⁷ And my master made me swere saying: thou shalt not take a wife to my sonne amonge the doughters of the Cananites in whose lande I dwell. ³⁸ But thou shalt go vnto my fathers house: & to my kynred, and ther take a wyfe vnto my sonne. ³⁹ And I said vnto my master: what if the wyfe wyll not folow me? ⁴⁰ And he sayed vnto me: The Lorde before whome I walke wyll send hys angell wyth the, and prospere thy iorney that thou shalte take a wife for my sonne, of my kinred, & of my fathers house. ⁴¹ But & if (when thou commest vnto my kynred) they wyl not giue the one, then shalt thou bear no peryll of myne oth. ⁴² And I came this day vnto the wel & said: O Lorde, the God of my master Abraham, if it be so that thou makest my iorney which I go, prosperous: ⁴³ beholde I stand by thys wel of water, and when a virgin commeth forth to drawe water, & I say to hyr: geue me a lyttle water of thy pytcher to dryncke, ⁴⁴ and she say agayne to me: dryncke thou, and I wyll also draw water for thy camels: that same is the wyfe whom the Lord hath prepared for my maisters sonne. ⁴⁵ And before I had made an ende of speakinge in myne herte: beholde Rebecca came forth, & hir pitcher on hir shoulder, & she went downe vnto the wel & drew. And I sayd vnto hir: giue me drincke. ⁴⁶ And she made hast, & toke downe hir pytcher from of hyr & sayed: drincke, & I wyll giue thy camels drinke also. ⁴⁷ And I dranke, & she gaue the camels drynke also. And I asked hyr saying: whose daughter art thou? And she answered: the doughter of Bathuel Nahors sonne, whom Milca bare vnto him. And I put the earing vpon hir face & the bracelets vpon hir handes. ⁴⁸ And I bowed my selfe. & worshypped the Lorde, & blessed the Lorde God of my master Abraham which had brought me the ryght waye, to take my masters brothers doughter vnto hys sonne. ⁴⁹ Now therfore if ye wyll deale mercifully and truly wyth my master, tel me, and if not tell me also: that I maye turne me to the, right hand or to the lyft, ⁵⁰ Then answered Laban & Bethuel saying: The thing is proceaded euen out of the Lord, we can not therfore say vnto the, either good or bad: ⁵¹ behold Rebecca before thy face, take hyr & go, and let hyr be thy maisters sonnes wyfe, euen as the Lord hath sayed. ⁵² And when Abrahams seruaunt hearde theyr wordes, he bowed him selfe vnto the Lorde, flatte vpon the earth. ⁵³ And the seruaunt toke forthe iewels of siluer, & iewels of golde, & rayment, & gaue them to Rebecca: but vnto hyr brother, & to hir mother he gaue spyces. ⁵⁴ And then they ate and dranke both he & the men that were wt him, and taried al nyght and rose vp in the mornyng. And he sayed: let me depart vnto my master. ⁵⁵ But hir brother and hir mother sayed: let the damsel abyde with vs a whyle, & it be but euen ten dayes, and then go the wayes. ⁵⁶ And he sayed vnto them: hinder me not for the Lord hath prospered my iorney. Sende me awaye that I may go vnto my master. ⁵⁷ And they sayd: let vs call the damsell, & witt what she saith to the matter. ⁵⁸ And they called forth Rebecca, and said vnto hyr: wilte thou go wyth this man? And she sayed: yea. ⁵⁹ So they let Rebecca theyr syster go wyth hir nurse & Abrahams seruaunte, & the men that were wyth him. ⁶⁰ And they blessed Rebecca, & sayd vnto hyr: Thou art oure syster growe into thousande thousandes, and thy seed possesse the gates of theyr enemies. ⁶¹ And Rebecca arose & hir damsels, & sat them vp vpon the camels, & went theyr way after the man. And the seruaunt toke Rebecca, & went his way. ⁶² And Isaac was a commynge from the wel of the lyuynge & seynge, for he dwelt in the south contrey, ⁶³ & was gone out to walke in his meditations before the euen tide. And he lift vp his eyes & loked, and beholde the camels were comming. ⁶⁴ And Rebecca lyft vp hir eyes & when she sawe Isaac, she lighted of the camel, ⁶⁵ & sayd vnto the seruaunt: what man is this that cometh against vs in the feld? And the seruaunt sayd: it is my master. And then she toke hyr mantil, & put it about hyr. ⁶⁶ And the seruaunt tolde Isaac all that he had done. ⁶⁷ Then Isaac broughte hir into hys mother Saras tente, and toke Rebecca, and she became hys wyfe. & he loued hir: & so was Isaac comforted ouer hys mother.

⁴⁸ therfore thou shalt serue thyne enemye which the Lord shall sende vpon the: in hunger and thrust, in nakednesse and in nede of all thynge: & he shall put a yocke of yeron vpon thyne necke, vntyll he haue broughte the to nought.

¹⁴ Howe be it because in doynge this deede thou hast geuen the enemyes of the Lorde a cause to rayle, the chyld that is borne the shall dye surelye.

² And ther had gone a companye of Soudioures oute of Siria a runnyng, and hath brought oute of the countrey of Israell a lytle mayd, which was with Naamans wife. ³ And the Damosell sayde vnto her ladye: I woulde my mayster were with a Prophet that is in Samaria, he woulde delyuer hym of his leprosye.

¹³ Then came his seruauntes and communed with him, and sayde: Father yf the prophete had byd the done some great thinge, oughtest thou not to haue done it? How much rather then shouldest thou do it, whyle he sayth to the only, washe and be cleane.

⁵ And the Leuites, Iesua, Cadmiel Bani, Hasabniah, Serebiah, Hodiah, Sebaniah, Phathahiah, sayde: stande vp, prayse the Lorde youre God for euer, & let thankes be geuen vnto the name of thy glorye, which excelleth all thankesgeuing & prayse.

⁶ I was so wroth with my people, that I punished myne enheritaunce, & gaue them into thy power. Neuertheles, thou shewedeste them no mercy, but euen the very aged men of them, didest thou oppresse ryght sore wyth thy yock,

⁵ And nowe what profyt is it to me (sayeth the Lorde) that my people is frely caryed awaye, & brought into heuynes by theyr rulers, and my name euer styll blasphemed? saith the Lorde.

⁶ But this fastyng pleaseth not me, til the tyme be thou louse him out of bondage, that is in thy daunger: that thou breake the ooth of wicked barginnes, that thou let the oppressed go fre and take from them all maner of burthens.

²⁰ Now when they were gone vnto the Heathen, & come in amonge them they dyshonoured my holye name: so that it was sayde of them: Are these the people of God, & must go out of their owne lande?

²³ Therfore, I wyll halowe my greate name agayne, which amonge the Gentiles is euell spoken of: for ye yourselues haue dishonoured it amonge them. And the Gentiles shal knowe that I am the Lord, when I am honoured in you before their eyes, sayeth the Lorde God.

⁶ Should not a sonne honoure his father, & a seruaunte hys mayster? Yf I be now a father, where is mine honoure? Yf I be the Lorde, where am I feared? sayeth the Lord of hostes. Now to you priestes, that despise my name. And yf ye saye: wherin haue we despised thy name:

⁹ But what went ye out for to se? A prophete. Yea, I say vnto you, and more then a prophete.

³⁰ For my yocke is easy: and my burden is lyght.

¹ Then sayde he to the disciples, it cannot be auoyded but that offences will come. Neuerthelesse wo be to hym: through whome they come.

⁷ When the aungell whiche spake vnto Cornelius, was departed, he called two of his housholde seruauntes, and a deuout souldier of them that waited on him

²² And they sayde vnto him: Cornelius the captaine, a iuste man, and one that feareth God, and of good reporte amonge al the people of the Iewes, was warned by an holye aungel to sende for the into hys house, and to heare wordes of the.

¹⁰ Now therfore why tempte ye God, that ye woulde put a yoke on the disciples neckes, which neyther our fathers nor we were able to beare.

²⁴ For the name of god is euyll spoken of amonge the gentyls thorow you, as it is wrytten.

²¹ Art thou called a seruauntes, care not for it. Neuertheles if thou maiest be fre, vse it rather. ²² For he that is called in the Lord beynge a seruaunte, is the Lordes freman. Lykewyse he that is called beynge fre, is Christes seruaunte.

³² See that ye geue occasion of euil, neither to the Iewes, nor yet to the Gentiles, neither to the congregation of God:

¹ Stande fast therfore in the lybertye wherewith Christ hath made vs free and wrappe not your selues againe in the yoke of bondage.

⁵ Seruauntes be obedient vnto youre carnall maisters, wyth feare and tremblinge, in singlenes of youre hertes, as vnto Christe, ⁶ not wyth seruice in the eye sight, as men pleasers, but as the seruauntes of Christe, doynge the wyll of God frome the herte ⁷ wyth good wyll seruynge the Lorde, & not men. ⁸ And remembre that, whatsoeuer good thinge any man doeth, that shall he receiue agayne of the Lorde, whether he be bounde or fre.

²² Seruauntes, be obediente vnto your bodelye maisters in al thinges, not wyth eye seruice as men pleasers, but in synglenes of herte fearinge God. ²³ And what soeuer ye do, do it hertelye as though ye dyd it to the Lord, and not vnto men ²⁴ for as muche as ye know that of the Lorde ye shall receiue the reward of inheritaunce, for ye serue the Lorde Christ. ²⁵ But he that doeth anye wronge, shall receiue for the wronge that he hath done, for there is no respect of persons wyth God.

¹⁴ I wyll therfore that the yonger women marye and beare children, and guyde the house and geue none occasyon to the aduersarye to speake euyll.

⁵ to be dyscret, chast, huswyfly, good & obedyent vnto theyr owne husbandes, that the word of God be not euyl spoken of.

⁸ and wyth the wholesom worde, which cannot be rebuked, that he which wythstandeth, maye be ashamed, hauyng nothynge in you that he maye disprayse. ⁹ The seruauntes exhort to be obedient vnto theyr owne maysters, and to please in al thynges, not aunswerynge agayne, ¹⁰ neyther be pyckers, but that they shewe all good faythfulnes, that they maye do worshyp to the doctryne of oure sauyoure God in all thynges.

¹² and se that ye haue honest conuersacyon amonge the Gentyls, that they whiche backbyte you as euyll doars, maye se youre good workes and prayse God in the daye of visitacyon.

¹⁷ Honoure all men. Loue brotherlye felowship. Feare God, and honour the kynge. ¹⁸ Seruauntes obeye your maysters wyth al feare, not onelye yf they be good, and courteous: but also thoughe they be frowarde. ¹⁹ For it is thanke worthy yf a man for conscience towarde God endure griefe, suffering wrongfullye. ²⁰ For what prayse is it, yf when ye be buffeted for your faultes, ye take it pacientlye? But and yf when ye do well, ye suffre wrong and take it pacyently, then is there thanke wt God.

¹⁶ hauinge a good conscience, that when they backbyte you as euyl doers, they maye be ashamed, for as muche as they haue falsely accused your good conuersation in Christ.

⁴ And he went in vnto Agar, & she conceyued. And when she sawe that she had conceyued: her mastresse was despysed in her syght. ⁵ Than sayde Sarai vnto Abram: Thou dost me vnryghte, for I haue geuen my mayd into thy bosome: and nowe because she seeth that she hath conceyned, I am despysed in her syghte: the Lorde iudge betwene the and me.

³ and they gathered them selues togyther agaynst Moses and Aaron and sayed vnto them: ye haue done inough. For all the, multitude are holy euery one of them & the Lorde is amonge them. Why therefore heaue we our selues vp aboue the congregaon of the Lorde.

²⁸ After this, wil I poure out my sprete vpon all fleshe: and your sonnes & your doughters shall prophecye: youre olde men shall dreame dreames, & youre yong men shal se visyons

²⁴ No man can serue two maysters. For eyther he shall hate the one & loue the other: yea or eles he shall leane to the one & dispise the other. Ye cannot serue God & Mammon.

⁸ But ye shall not suffer youre selues to be called Rabbi. For one is your master, that is to witte Christ, and all ye are brethreu.

⁴⁰ And the kinge shall aunswere and saye vnto theym: verelye I saye vnto you: in as much as ye haue done it to one of the least of these my brethren, ye haue done it vnto me.

²⁹ For those which he knewe before he also ordeyned before, that they shoulde be like fashioned vnto the shape of hys sonne that he myght be the fyrste begotten sonne amonge manye brethren.

¹⁷ Thoughe some of the braunches be broken of, and thou beynge a wylde olyue tree, arte grafte in among them, and made partaker of the rote and fatnes of the olyue tree,

²⁶ For ye are al the sonnes of God, by the fayth whiche is in Christe Iesus. ²⁷ For al ye that are baptysed, haue put on Christ. ²⁸ Nowe is there no Iewe neyther gentyle, ther is neyther bonde nor free: there is neyther man nor woman, but ye are all one thyng in christ Iesu. ²⁹ Yf ye be Christes, then are ye Abrahams seede and heyres by promes.

⁶ For in Iesu Christ nether is circumcysion any thing worth, neyther yet vncircumcysyon, but fayth which by loue is myghtye in operacyon.

¹ Paule an Apostle of Iesu Christe by the wyll of God. To the Saynctes whiche are at Ephesus, & to them whiche beleue on Iesus Christe.

¹⁵ Wherfore euen I (after that I hearde of the faythe whiche ye haue in the Lorde Iesu, and loue vnto all the saynctes)

⁶ that the Gentyles shoulde be inheritours also, and of the same bodye, and partakers of hys promes that is in Christe, by the meanes of the Gospell,

² To the sainctes, whiche are at Colossa, and brethren that beleue in Christe. Grace be wyth you and peace from God oure father, and from the Lorde IESVS Christe.

⁴ sence we hearde of your fayth, which ye haue in Christ Iesu, and of the loue, which ye beare to all saynctes,

¹¹ where is neyther Gentile nor Iew, circumcysion nor vncircumcision, Barbarous or Sythian, bond or fre: but Christ is all in al thinges. ¹² Nowe therfore as electe of God, holy and beloued, put on tender mercye, kyndnes, humblenes of mindes, meaknes, longe sufferynge,

¹ Ye maisters do vnto your seruauntes, that which is iuste and equall, sayng: ye know that ye also haue a maister in heauen.

³ We are bounde to thanke God alwayes for you brethren, as it mete, because that your fayth groweth excedingly, and euerye one of you swimmeth in loue towarde another betwene youre selues,

¹¹ Suche thynges commaunde and teache.

¹ Rebuke not an elder: but exhorte hym as a father, and the yonger men as brethren

¹ Bvt speake thou that whiche becommeth wholsome learnyng.

¹⁵ These thynges speake, and exhorte, and rebuke, wyth all commaundyng. Se that no man despyse the.

⁸ Thys is a true saiynge. Of these thynges I would thou shouldest certyfye, that they whiche beleue God, might be dylygent to go forwarde in good workes. These thynges are good and profytable vnto men.

⁵ when I heare of thy loue and fayth, which thou hast towarde the Lorde Iesu, and towarde all saynctes: ⁶ so that the fellowshyppe that thou haste in the fayth, is frutefull thorowe knowledge of all good thynges, whiche are in you by Iesus Christe. ⁷ And we haue greate ioye, and consolation ouer thy loue: For by the (brother) the sainctes hertes are conforted.

¹⁰ I beseche the for my sonne Onesimus, whom I begat in my bondes, ¹¹ whiche in tyme passed was to the vnprofytable both to the, and also to me, ¹² whome I haue sente home agayne. Thou therfore receyue hym, that is to say, myne owne bowels ¹³ whome I woulde fayne haue receyued with me, that in thy stede he myght haue ministred vnto me in the bondes of the Gospell. ¹⁴ Neuer thelesse, wythout thy mynde, woulde I do nothynge, that the good whiche spryngeth of the shoulde not be as it were of necessytie, but wyllynglye. ¹⁵ Happelye he therfore departed for a season that thou shouldest receyue hym for euer, ¹⁶ not nowe as a seruaunte, but aboue a seruaunte I meane a brother beloued, specyally to me: but howe muche more vnto the, bothe in the fleshe and also in the Lorde?

¹ Therfore holye brethren, partakers of the celestiall callinges, consider the ambassatoure and hye prieste of oure professyon, Christe Iesus

¹⁴ We are partakers of Christe, yf we kepe sure vnto the ende the fyrste substaunce,

¹ The elders whiche are amonge you, I exhorte, whiche am also an elder, and a wytnes of the affliccions of Christe, and also a partaker of the glory that shallbe opened,

¹⁰ namely them that walke after the fleshe in the luste of vncleanes, and despyse the rulars. Presumpteous are they, & stubborne and feare not to speake euyl of them that are in authoritie.

⁸ Likewyse these dremers defyle the flesh, despyse rulars and spake euil of them that are in authorytye.

⁴ A wholsome tonge is a tree of lyfe but he that abuseth it, hath a broken mynde.

²¹ They sayed vnto him: Cesars. Then sayed he vnto them: Gyue therfore to Cesar, that which is Cesars: And gyue vnto God, that which is Goddes.

²⁰ Teachyng then to obserue all thynges whatsoeuer I commaunded you, And lo I am with you alwaye, euen vntyll the ende of the worlde.

¹⁷ I beseche you brethren, marke them which cause diuisyon, and geue occasyons of euyl, contrary to the doctryue which ye haue learned: and auoyd them.

⁶ I maruayle that ye are so sone turned from hym that called you in the grace of Christ, vnto an other Gospell: ⁷ whiche is nothynge els, but that there be some which trouble you, and entende to peruert the Gospell of Christe.

¹ Fvrther more we beseche you brethren and exhorte you in the Lord Iesus, that ye increase more and more, euen as ye haue receiued of vs, howe ye oughte to walke and to please God. ² Ye remember what commaundementes we gaue you in oure Lorde Iesu Christ.

⁸ He therfore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, whiche hath sente his holye spirite amonge you.

³ And I besought the to abyde styl in Ephesus, when I departed into Macedonia, euen so do, that thou commaunde some, that they teache no nother wyse:

⁶ from the which thinges some haue erred & haue turned vnto vayne iangelyng,

¹⁰ & whor mongers: to them that defyle them selues wyth mankynde: to menstealers, to lyars & to periured, and so forth yf there be any other thynge that is contrarye to holsome doctrine

⁷ But cast awaye vnghostly and olde wyues fables. Exercyse thy selfe vnto Godlynes. ⁸ For bodely exercyse profyteth lytell: But godlynes is good vnto all thynges, as a thynge whiche hath promyses of the lyfe that is now, and of the lyfe to come.

¹³ Se thou haue the ensample of the holsome wordes, whiche thou heardest of me in faythe and loue whiche is in Iesus Christe.

³ For the tyme wyll come, when they wyll not suffer wholsome doctryne: but after theyr owne lustes shall they (whose eares ytch) get them an heape of teachers,

¹ Paule the seruaunt of God and an Apostle of Iesu Christ, to preache the faythe, of Goddes elect, & the knowledge of that truethe, whiche is after Godlynes,

⁹ and suche as cleaueth vnto the true worde of doctryne, that he maye be able to exhorte wyth wholesome learnynge, and to improue them, that saye agaynste it.

¹ Bvt speake thou that whiche becommeth wholsome learnyng. ² That the elder men be sober, honest, discret, sounde in the fayth, in loue, and in pacience.

¹¹ For the grace of God, that bringeth saluacion vnto al men, hath apered ¹² & teacheth vs that we shoulde denye vngodlynes & worldly lustes, and that we shoulde lyue sobre mynded ryghtuouslye and Godly in this present worlde, ¹³ lokynge for that blessed hope and gloryous apperyng of the myghtye God, and of oure sauyoure Iesu Christe, ¹⁴ whiche gaue hym selfe for vs, to redeme vs from al vnryghtuousnes and to pourge vs a peculyar people vnto him selfe, feruently geuen vnto good workes.

³ Accordinge as hys godlye power hath geuen vnto vs al thinges that pertayne vnto lyfe and godlines, thorowe the knowledge of him that hath called vs by vertue & glory, ⁴ by the meanes, wherof are geuen vnto vs excellent and most great promises, that by the helpe of them ye should be partakers of the godly nature, in that ye flee the corruption of worldelye luste. ⁵ And herunto geue al diligence, in youre fayth, mynyster vertue, and in vertue knowledge, ⁶ and in knowledge temperancie, and in temperauncie, pacience, in pacience, Godlynes, ⁷ in Godlines brotherly kyndnes, in brotherlye kindnes, loue.

⁷ Some men are rych, thoughe they haue nothynge: againe some men are pore hauing greate ryches.

¹⁴ Whoso maketh great boasts & geueth nothing, is like cloudes & wind without rain.

¹² If thou seiest a man that is wyse in his owne conceate, there is more hope in a fole then in him.

⁴ Beholde, when ye fast, your lust remayneth still: for ye do no lesse vyolence to youre detters: lo, ye falle to stryfe and debate, and to smite hym wyth youre fyst that speaketh vnto you. Ye fast not (as som tyme) that your voyce might be hearde aboue.

⁹ And ther was a certaine man called Simon, which before tyme in the same citye, vsed wytchcraft and bewitched the people of Samarye, sayinge that he was a man that coulde do greate thinges.

²¹ Thou hast neither parte nor fellowshippe in thys busynes. For the hert is not ryght in the sight of God. ²² Repent therfore of this thy wyckednes, and praye God, that the thought of thyne herte maye be forgeuen the. ²³ For I perceiue, that thou art full of bitter gal, & wrapped in iniquitie.

² And when there was rysen dissention and disputyng not a lytle vnto Paul and Barnabas against them. They determyned that Paule and Barnabas, and certayne other of them, should ascende to Hierusalem vnto the Apostles and elders about this question.

¹⁵ but if it be a question of words or of names, or of your law, loke ye to it your selues. For I wil be no iudge in suche matters

⁸ But vnto them that are rebellious and disobey the trueth, and folowe iniquitie, shall come indignacion and wrath,

¹⁶ Be of lyke affeccyon one towardes an other. Be not hyghe mynded, but make youre selues equall to them of the lower sorte. Be not wyse in youre owne opinions.

¹³ Let vs walke honestlye as it were in the daye lyght: not in eatynge and drynkynge: neyther in chamburynge and wantonnes, neyther in stryfe & enuiynge:

¹ Hym that is weake in the fayth, receyue vnto you, not in disputynge and troublyng hys conscience.

³ As longe verelye as there is amonge you enuiynge, stryfe and dissencion: are ye not carnall, and walke after the maner of men?

¹⁸ Let no man deceyue hym selfe. Yf anye man seme, wyse amonge you, let hym be a fole in thys worlde that he maye be wyse.

¹ To speake of thinges dedicate vnto Idols, we are sure that we all haue knowledge, knowledge maketh a man swel, but loue edyfyeth. ² If anye man thinke that he knoweth anie thinge, he knoweth nothinge yet as he ought to knowe.

¹⁶ If there be anye man amonge you, that lusteth to striue let hym knowe that we haue no suche custome, neither the congregations of God.

¹⁸ Fyrste of all when ye come together in the congregacion, I heare that there is dyssencyon amonge you, and I partely, beleue it.

²⁰ For ye suffre euen yf a man brynge you into bondage: yf a man deuoure, yf a man take yf a man exalte hym selfe, yf a man smite you on the face.

¹⁵ Yf ye byte and deuour one another: take hede leaste ye be consumed one of another.

²⁰ Idolatrye wytchecrafte, hatred, varyaunce, zele, wrathe stryfe, sedityon, sectes, ²¹ enuiynge, murther, drounkennes, glottonye, and suche lyke: of the whiche I tell you before, as I haue tolde you in tymes past, that they whiche commytte suche thynges shall not enheryte the kingdome of God.

²⁶ Let vs not be vayne gloryouse, prouokynge one another, and enuyinge one another.

³ Yf anye man seme to hym selfe, that he is somwhat, when in dede he is nothynge the same deceyueth hym selfe in hys ymaginacyon.

¹⁵ Some there are whiche preache Christ of enuie and stryfe, and some of good wyll.

³ that nothing be done thorowe stryfe or vaine glorye, but that in mekenes of mynde euerye man esteme other better then him selfe,

¹⁴ Do al thinge wythout murmuringe and disputynge,

¹⁸ Let no man make you shoute at a wronge marke which after his owne ymaginacion walketh in the humblenes and holynes of aungels, thynges which he neuer sawe: causelesse puft vp with his fleshely minde,

⁴ whiche is an aduersarye, and is exalted aboue all that is called God, or that is worshypped: so that he shall sytte as God in the temple of God, and shewe hym selfe as God.

⁴ neyther geue hede to fables and genealogyes whiche are endelesse, & brede doubtes more then Godlye edifiynge whiche is by fayth:

⁷ because they woulde be doctours in the scrypture, and yet vnderstand not what they speake, nether wherof they affyrme.

⁶ He maye not be a yong scholer, lest he swell and fall into the iudgement of the euyll speaker.

¹⁴ Of these thynges put them in remembraunce, and testifye before the Lorde, that they stryue not aboute wordes: which is to no profyte, but to peruerte the hearers.

²³ Folyshe & vnlearned questions put from the, remembring that they do, but gendre stryfe.

⁴ traytours, headye, hye mynded, gredy vpon voluptuousnes more then the louers of God,

⁹ Folysh questions and genealogyes, and braulynge and stryfe aboute the law auoyde: for they are vnprofytable and superfluous.

¹⁹ Wherfore deare brethren, let euerye man be swyfte to heare, slowe to speake, and slow to wrath.

¹⁴ What auayleth it my brethren, thoughe a man saye he hath faythe, when he hath no deedes? Can fayth saue hym? ¹⁵ If a brother or a sister be naked or destitute of dayly fode, ¹⁶ and one of you saye vnto them: Departe in peace, God sende you warmnes and fode: not wyth standynge ye geue them not those thynges which are nedefull to the bodye: what helpeth it them? ¹⁷ Euen so faythe, yf it haue no dedes is dead in it selfe. ¹⁸ Yea and a man myghte saye: Thou haste faythe, and I haue dedes: Shewe me thy faith by thy dedes, and I wyll shew the my faythe by my dedes.

¹ From whence commeth warre & fyghtynge amonge you: come they not hear hence? euen of your voluptuousnes, that rayne in youre membres. ² Ye luste & haue not. Ye enuye and haue dignacyon, and cannot obtayne. Ye fyght and war and haue not, because ye axe not.

⁵ Eyther do ye thynke that the scrypture sayeth in vayne. The spyryte that dwelleth in you lusteth euen contrarye to enuye: ⁶ but geueth more grace.

¹ Wherfore laye a syde all malycyousnes, and all gyle, and dyssymulacyon, and enuye, and all backbytynge: ² and as newe bourne babes, desyre that reasonable mylke whiche is wythout corrupcyon that ye maye growe therein.

¹² But these as brute beastes naturallye made to be taken and destroyed, speake euyll of that they knowe not, and shal perishe thorow their owne destruccion,

¹⁸ For when they haue spoken the swellinge wordes of vanitie, they begyle with wantonnes thorowe the lustes of the fleshe, them that were cleane escaped, but nowe are wrapped in errours.

¹⁰ But these speake euyl of those thynges they know not, and what thynges they knowe naturally as beastes which are wythout reason, in those thynges they corrupte them selues.

¹⁶ These are murmurers, complayners, walkyng after theyr owne iustes, whose mouthes speake proud thinges. They haue men in great reuerence because of vauntage.

¹⁷ because thou art ryche and increased wyth goodes, and hast nede of nothinge, and knowest not howe thou art wretched and miserable, poore, blind and naked.

²⁰ Gihezi the seruaunt of Elizeus the man of God, sayd: se, my mayster hath kepte of, thys Syryen Naaman that he wolde not receyue of hys hand that he offered. As surely as the Lorde lyueth I wyl runne after hym, and take somewhat. ²¹ And so Gihezi went after Naaman. And when Naaman sawe hym come runnynge after hym, he came doune of the charet agaynst hym & said: is all well? ²² And he sayde: yea. But my mayster hath sente me, sayinge: se there be two younge men come to me oute of Ephraim of the chyldren of the Prophetes: geue them I praye the, one talent of syluer, & a couple of good garmentes. ²³ And Naaman sayde: auenture and take two talentes of syluer in two bagges, with two goodlye garmentes, & delyuered them vnto two of hys seruauntes, to beare it before hym. ²⁴ And he went in the darcke, and toke it of theyr handes and bestowed it in the house, and let the men go, & they departed. ²⁵ Then he went & stode before hys mayster. And Elizeus sayde to hym: whence commeth Gihezi? And he sayde: thy seruaunt wente no whether. ²⁶ And he sayde: wente not myne herte with the, when the man turned & came of hys charet agaynste the? Is it a tyme to receyue syluer & to receyue garmentes, olyue trees, vineyardes, oxen, shepe menseruauntes & maid seruauntes? ²⁷ The leprosye therfore of Naaman claue vnto the, & vnto thy seede for euer. And he went out from hym a leper as whit as snowe.

¹¹ they are shamelesse dogges, that be neuer satisfyed. The sheperdes also in lyke maner haue no vnderstanding but euery man turneth his owne way, euery one after his owne couetousnes with all hys power.

¹³ For from the leaste vnto the moost, they hang all vpon couetousnes: & from the Prophet vnto the prieste, they go all aboute wyth falshed and lyes.

¹⁰ Wherfore I will geue their wyues vnto aleauntes, and their feldes to destroyers. For from the loweste vnto the hyeste, they folowe all fylthy lucre: & from the Prophete vnto the prieste, they deale al with lyes.

³¹ These come vnto the, after the maner of a great people: yea my people syt doune before the, and heare thy wordes, but they do not there after: for in theyr mouthes they shewe them selues, as though they were feruent, but their herte goeth after theyr owne couetous lucre.

¹⁷ Euen so euery good tre bryngeth forth good fruite. But a corrupt tree, bringeth forth euyll fruyte. ¹⁸ A good tree can not bringe forthe bad fruyte: nor yet a bad tree can bringe forth good fruite. ¹⁹ Euery tree that bryngeth not forthe good fruite shalbe hewen downe, and cast into the fyre. ²⁰ Wherfore by theyr fruytes ye shal knowe them.

³³ Either make the tree good, and his frute good also: or els make the tree euyll, and hys frute euyll also. For the tree is knowen by his frute.

¹³ and sayde to them: It is writen, my house shalbe called the house of prayer. But ye haue made it a denne of theues.

¹³ Wo be vnto you Scribes and Phariseis, hypocrites, for ye shut vp the kyngdome of heauen before men: ye youre selues go not in, neyther suffer ye them that come to enter in.

¹⁹ And this is the condempnacion, that light is come into the worlde, and the men loued darknes more then lyght, because their dedes were euyll. ²⁰ For euerye man that euyll doth, hateth the light: nether commeth to the lyghte: lest his dedes shoulde be reproued. ²¹ But he that doeth truth commeth to the light that hys dedes myght be knowen, how that they are wrought in God.

¹⁸ When Simon saw that thorow laiyng on of the Apostles handes on them, the holy ghoste was geuen, he offred them money ¹⁹ saiyng: Geue me also this power, that on whomsoeuer I put the handes, he may receiue the holy ghost. ²⁰ Then sayd Peter vnto him: thy money perishe with the, because thou wenest that the gift of God maye be obteyned wt money.

²⁴ For a certain man named Demetrius, a siluersmith, whiche made siluer shrynes for Diana, was not a litel beneficial vnto the craftes men. ²⁵ Whiche he called together with the workemen of like occupacion, & sayde: Syrs: ye knowe that by thys crafte we haue vauntage. ²⁶ Moreouer ye se & heare that not alone at Ephesus, but almoste thorough out al Asia, this Paule hath persuaded and turned away muche people: saying that they be not Goddes, whiche are made wyth handes. ²⁷ So that not onelye thys our craft cometh into pacel to be set at nought: but also that the temple of the great Goddas Diana shoulde be despised, and her magnificence should be destroied, which al Asia, and the world worshyppeth. ²⁸ When they hearde these sayinges, they were full of wrath, and cryed oute sayinge: Great is Diana of the Ephesyans.

¹⁷ I beseche you brethren, marke them which cause diuisyon, and geue occasyons of euyl, contrary to the doctryue which ye haue learned: and auoyd them. ¹⁸ For they that are such, serue not the Lorde Iesus Christ: but theyr owne bellyes, and with swete preachynges & flatterynge wordes deceyue the hertes of the innocentes.

¹⁷ Thys I saye therfore and testifye in the Lorde, that ye henceforth walke not as other Gentyles walke, in vanitie of theyr mynde, ¹⁸ blynded in theyr vnderstandynge, beynge straungers from the lyfe whiche is in God thorowe the ignoraunce that is in them, because of the blyndnes of theyr hertes: ¹⁹ whiche beyng paste repentaunce, haue geuen them selues vnto wantonnes, to worke al maner of vncleanes, euen wyth gredines.

⁸ And then shall that wicked be vttered, whome the Lorde shall consume with the spirite of hys mouth, and shall destroye wt the aperaunce of hys commynge. ⁹ euen hym whose commynge is by the workynge of Sathan, with all liynge power, signes and wonders: ¹⁰ and in all deceyuablenes of vnryghtuousnes, amonge them that peryshe: because they receyued not the loue of the truethe, that they myght haue bene sayed. ¹¹ And therfore God shall sende them stronge delusyon, that they shoulde beleue lyes:

⁶ We requyre you brethren in the name of oure Lorde Iesu Christ, that ye wythdrawe your selues from euerye brother that walketh inordinatelye and not after the institucyon whiche ye receyued of vs.

³ not dronken, no fyghter, not geuen to fylthy lucre: but gentle, abhorrynge fyghtyng, abhorrynge couetousnes,

⁸ Lykewyse muste the Deacons be honest, not double tonged, not geuen vnto much drinkynge, neyther vnto fylthy lucre:

⁶ Godlynes is greate ryches, yf a man be content with that he hath.

⁵ hauynge a simylytude of Godly lyuynge, but haue denyed the power thereof: and suche abhorre.

⁸ As Iannes and Iambres withstode Moyses, euen so do these resiste the trueth, men they are of corrupte myndes, and lewde, as concernyng the fayth,

¹¹ whose mouthes must be stopped: whiche peruerte whole houses teachynge thynges whiche they oughte not because of fylthy lucre.

¹⁵ Vnto the pure are all thynges pure, but vnto them that are defyled and vnbeleuynge, is nothynge pure: but euen the very myndes and consciences of them are defyled. ¹⁶ They confesse that they knowe God: but wyth the dedes they denye hym, and are abhomynable and dysobedient, and vnto all good workes discommendable.

¹² Take hede brethren, that there be in none of you an euyll herte in vnbeleue, that he shoulde departe from the lyuinge God: ¹³ but exhorte one another dayly, whyle it is called to daye, leste anye of you wexe harde herted thorowe the deceythfulnesse of synne.

³ and thorowe couetousnes shal they wyth fayned wordes make marchaundyse of you, whose iudgement is not farre of, and theyr dampnacion slepeth not.

¹⁵ and haue forsaken the ryght waye, and are gone astray folowing the waye of Balam the sonne of Bosor, whiche loued the rewarde of vnrightuousnes,

⁸ Loke on youre selues, that we lose not that we haue wrought but that we maye haue a full rewarde. ⁹ Whosoeuer transgresseth and bydeth not in the doctryne of Christe, hath not God. He that endureth in the doctrine of Christe, hath both the father and the sonne. ¹⁰ Yf there come any vnto you, and bringe not this learninge, him receiue not to house, neither byd hym God spede. ¹¹ Wo be vnto them, for they haue folowed the waye of Cayn, and are vtterlye geuen to the errour of Balam for lukers sake, and peryshe in the treason of Core.

³ for al nacyons haue dronken of the wyne of the wrath of her fornicacion. And the kinges of the earth haue committed fornicacion wyth her, & her marchauntes are wexed riche of the aboundance of her pleasures.

¹³ & sinamome, and odoures, and oyntmentes, & frankinsence, and wine, and oyle, and fine floure, and wheat, beastes, and shepe, and horsses, & charrettes, and bodyes, and soules of men.

²¹ And Moyses was content to dwel with the manne. And he gaue Moyses Zelphora his daughter,

¹⁶ A small thinge that the righteous hath, is better then great ryches of the vngodly.

¹¹ For the Lord God is a light and defence, the Lorde wyll geue grace and worshyppe, and no good thynge shall he wytholde from them that lyue a godly lyfe.

¹³ Well is hym that findeth wysdome, and opteyneth vnderstandinge, ¹⁴ for the gettinge of it is better then any marchaundise of syluer, and the profet of it is better then golde. ¹⁵ Wysdome is more worth then precyous stones, and all thinges that thou canste desyre, are not to be compared vnto her. ¹⁶ Vpon her righte hande is longe lyfe, and vppon her lefte hande is ryches and honour. ¹⁷ Her wayes are pleasaunte wayes, and al her pathes are peaceable. ¹⁸ She is a tree of lyfe to them that laye holde vpon her, and blessed are they that kepe her fast.

¹⁸ Riches and honoure are with me, yea, excellent goodes & righteousnes. ¹⁹ My frute is better then golde & precious stone, & myne encrease more worth then fyne siluer. ²⁰ I walke in the waye of righteousnes, and in the strete of iudgement. ²¹ That I may sende prosperitie to those that loue me, & to encrease their treasure.

¹⁶ Better is a litle with the feare of the Lord then great tresure, for they are not without sorowe.

⁸ Better is it to haue a lyttle thinge with rightuousnes, then greate rentes wrngeously gotten.

³² After all these thynges seke the gentils. For your heauenlye father knoweth that ye haue neade of all these thynges. ³³ But rather seke ye first the kyngdome of heauen and the rightuousnes therof, & all these thynge shalbe ministred vnto you.

¹⁴ The souldioures lykewyse demaunded of him saiynge: and what shall we do? And he sayde to them: Do violence to no man: neither trouble any man wrongfullye: but be content with your wages.

³¹ Wherfore seke ye after the kyngdome of God, and all these thynges shall be ministred vnto you. ³² Feare not litel flocke, for it is your fathers pleasure, to geue you a kingdom.

³ Nether do we so only: but also we reioice in tribulacion. For we know that tribulation bryngeth pacience, ⁴ pacience bringeth experience, experience bringeth hope. ⁵ And hope maketh not ashamed, for the loue of God is sheed abroade in our hertes by the holye ghost, which he is geuen vnto vs.

²⁸ For we knowe that all thynges worke for the beste vnto them that loue God, whyche also are called of purpose.

¹⁷ For oure excedynge trybulation whiche is momentanye and lyghte, prepareth an excedynge and eternall wayghte of glory vnto vs,

²¹ For Christe is to me lyfe, and death is to me auauntage.

¹¹ I speake not because of necessitie. For I haue learned in whatsoeuer estate I am therwyth to be content. ¹² I can both cast doune my selfe. I can also excede. Euery where, and in all thinges I am instructed, both to be ful, and to be houngrie, to haue plentie, and to suffre nede. ¹³ I can do al thinges thorowe the helpe of Christe whiche strengtheth me.

⁸ For bodely exercyse profyteth lytell: But godlynes is good vnto all thynges, as a thynge whiche hath promyses of the lyfe that is now, and of the lyfe to come.

⁸ When we haue fode and raymente, let vs therwyth be content.

⁵ Let your conuersacyon be wythoute couetuousnes, and be content wyth that ye haue alreadye. For he verelye sayed: I wyll not fayle the, neyther forsake the:

²¹ and sayde: Naked came I out of my mothers wombe, & naked shall I turne thether agayne. The Lorde gaue, and the Lord hath taken awaye now blessed be the name of the Lorde.

¹⁷ For he shall cary nothynge away wyth hym when he dyeth, neither shall his pompe folowe hym.

²⁴ For riches abyde not alway, & the crowne endureth not for euer.

¹⁵ Lyke as he came naked out of his mothers wombe, so goeth he thyther agayn, and carieth nothing away with hym of all his labour. ¹⁶ This is a miserable plage, that he shal go away euen as he came. What helpeth it hym then, that he hath labored in the wynde?

²⁰ But God sayed vnto hym: Thou fole, thys nyghte wyll they fetche awaye thy soule agayne from the. Then whose shall these thinges be which thou haste prouyded? ²¹ So is it with hym that gathereth ryches, and is not ryche in God.

²² And it fortuned that the begger dyed, and was caryed by the Angels into Abrahams bosome. The ryche man also dyed and was buryed. ²³ And beynge in hell in tormentes, he lyfte vp hys eyes, and sawe Abraham a farre of, & Lazarus in his bosome,

²⁰ before time And Iacob vowed a vowe sayinge: If God wyll be wyth me, and wyll kepe me in thys iourney whyche I goo, and wyll gyue me breade to eate, and clothes to put on,

¹⁵ And he blessed Ioseph saying: God before whome my fathers Abraham and Isaac dyd walke, and the god whyche had fedde me all my lyfe longe vnto thys day,

⁷ For the Lord thy God hath blessed the in al the workes of thyne hand & knewe the as thou wentest thorowe thys great wyldernesse. Moreouer the Lorde thy God hath bene wt the this .xl. yeres, so that thou hast lacked nothyng.

³ He humbled the and made the hongry and fedde the with Manna, whych neyther thou nor thy father knew of to make the know that a man must not lyue by breade onely: but by all that proceadeth out of the mouth of the Lord must a man liue. ⁴ Thy raiment waxed not old vpon the neither did thy fete swell this .xl. yere.

²³ Se that thou know the number of thy catell thy selfe, and loke wel to thy flockes. ²⁴ For riches abyde not alway, & the crowne endureth not for euer. ²⁵ The hey groweth, the grasse commeth vp, & herbes are gathered in the mountaynes. ²⁶ The lambes shall clothe the, and for the gotes ²⁷ thou shalt haue goates mylcke ynough to fede the, to vpholde thy housholde, and to susteyne thy maydens.

⁸ Remoue fro me vanite and lyes: geue me neither pouerte nor ryches, onely graunte me a necessary lyuyng. ⁹ Lest if I be to full, I denye the, & say: what felow is the Lord? And lest I beynge constrayned thorow pouerte, fall vnto stealyng, and forsweare the name of my God.

²⁴ Is it not better then, for a man to eat & drinke, and his soule to be mery in his labour? Yea I sawe that thys also was a gyfte of God: ²⁵ For who may eat, drinke, or bring any thing to passe wythout hym? And why? ²⁶ he geueth vnto man, what it pleaseth him: whether it be wysdome, vnderstandyng, or gladnesse. But vnto the sinner he geueth werines and sorow that he may gather and heape togather the thing that afterward shalbe geuen vnto him whom it pleaseth God. This is now a vayne thynge yea a very disquietnes and vexacion of mind

¹² So I perceiued, that in these thinges their is nothinge better for a man, then to be mery and to do wel so long as he liueth. ¹³ For al that a man eateth & drinketh, yea whatsoeuer a man enioyeth of al his labour, the same is a gyfte of God.

¹¹ Geue vs this daye our daylye breade.

²⁵ Therfore I saie vnto you, be not tareful for you life what ye shall eate or what ye shall dryncke, nor yet for your bodye, what ye shall put on, is not the lyfe more worthe then meate, and the body more of value then rayment? ²⁶ Behold the foules of the ayer: for the sowe not, neyther reape, nor yet cary into the barnes: and yet your heauenlye father fedethe them. Are ye not muche better then they? ²⁷ Whych of you (though he toke thoughte therfore) coulde put one cubit vnto hys statuture? ²⁸ And why care ye then for rayment? Considre the lylies of the filde, howe they growe. They laboureth not nether spynne. ²⁹ And yet for all that I saye vnto you that euen Solomon in all hys royaltie was not arayed lyke vnto one of these. ³⁰ Wherfore if God so clothe the grasse, which is to day in the felde, and to morowe shall be cast in to the fournace: shall he not much more do the same vnto you, o ye of lytle fayth? ³¹ Therfore take no thought saiynge: what shall we eate, or what shall we dryncke, or wherewith shal we be clothed?

⁵ Let your conuersacyon be wythoute couetuousnes, and be content wyth that ye haue alreadye. For he verelye sayed: I wyll not fayle the, neyther forsake the: ⁶ that we maye boldelye say: the Lorde is my helper and I wyll not feare what man doethe vnto me.

¹⁰ And Lot lyft vp hys eyes, and beheld al the contry about Iordane, whych was a plentuous contry of water euery wher, before the Lorde destroyed Sodome & Gomorha, euen as the garden of the Lorde, & as the Land of Egypt tyll thou come to Zoar. ¹¹ Then Lot chose al the costes of Iordane, and toke his iorney from the east. And so departed the one brother from the other. ¹² Abram dwelled in the lande of Canaan: & Lot in the cities of the playne, & tented tyll he came to Sodome. ¹³ But the men of Sodome were wicked, & sinned exceadyngly against the Lord.

¹⁷ for I wyll greately promote the vnto greate honour. and wyl do whatsoeuer thou sayeste vnto me, come therefore I praye the curse me thys peole. ¹⁸ And Balam answered and sayd vnto the seruauntes of Balac. If Balac would gyue me hys house ful of syluer and gold, I can go no further then the worde of the Lorde my God, to do lesse or more. ¹⁹ Neuertheles tarye ye here al nyght: that I may wete, what the Lorde wil say vnto me once more.

⁸ And they slewe the kynges of Madian amonge other that were slayne: Eui, Rehem, zur, Hur & Reba: fyue kynges of Madian. And they slew Balaam the sonne of Beor with the swerde.

²⁵ The Images of their Gods thou shalt burne wyth fire, and se that thou couet not the syluer or golde that is on them nor take it vnto the, least thou be snared therwyth. For it is an abhomination vnto the lord thy God.

¹¹ Israel hath synned & also transgressed myne appoyntement, which I commaunded them, and haue taken of the excommunicate thinges and haue stolen and hydde them, and also put them vnto theyr owne stuffe:

²⁴ And Iosua toke Acan the sonne of Zareh, and the syluer, and the garment, and the tonge of golde, and hys sonnes and hys doughters, hys oxen, asses, shepe, hys tente and all that he had, and all Israell wyth him, & brought them vnto the valeye of Acor. ²⁵ And Iosua sayde: In as muche as thou hast troubled vs, the Lorde shal trouble the thys daye. And all Israell stoned hym wyth stones, and burnt them wyth fyre, and ouerwhelmed them wyth stones. ²⁶ And they caste vpon hym a great heape of stones that remaineth vnto thys daye. And so the Lorde turned from hys fearce wrath. Wherfore the name of the place is called the valeye of Acor vnto thys daye.

⁶ Vpon the vngodly he shall rayne snares, fyre, brymstone, storme and tempest: thys rewarde shall they haue to drynke.

¹⁷ But in vayn is the net laied forth before the byrdes eyes. ¹⁸ Yea, they themselfes laye wayte one for anothers bloud, & one of them wolde sley another. ¹⁹ These are the ways of all suche as be couetous, that one wolde rauish anothers life.

²⁷ The couetous man roteth vp his owne house, but who so hateth rewardes shall liue.

²¹ The herytage that commeth to hastely at the fyrste, shall not be praised at the ende.

⁶ Who so hoordeth vp ryches wyth the disceatfulnes of his tonge, he is a foole, and lyke vnto them that seke their own death.

¹⁶ Who so doth a pore man wrong to increase his owne riches, geueth (commenly) vnto the rych, & at the last commeth to pouerte him selfe.

⁴ Take not ouer greate trauayle and labour to be ryche, beware of suche a purpose.

²⁰ A faithfull man is greatlye to be commended, but he that maketh to much haste for to be rych, shall not be vngyltye. ²¹ To haue respecte of persons in iudgment is not good: And why? he wil do wrong, yea euen for a pece of bread. ²² He that wyll be ritch all to soone, hath an euell eye, and considereth not, that pouertye shall come vpon him.

⁸ Wo be vnto you that ioyne one house to another, & bring one land so nyghe vnto another, tyll ye can get no more grounde. Wyll ye dwel vpon the earth alone?

⁷ But the marchaunte hath a false weyght in his hande, he hath a pleasure to occupye extorsion. ⁸ Ephraim thinketh thus: Tush, I am ryche, I haue good ynoughe. In all my worckes shall not one fawte be founde, that I haue offended.

⁴ Heare this, O ye that oppresse the poore, and destroye the nedy in the lande, saying: ⁵ When wil the new moneth be gone, that we maye sell vytale, & the Sabboth, that we maye haue scarcenesse of corne: to make the busshell lesse, and the Sycle greater? ⁶ We shal set vp false waightes that we maye gett the poore vnder vs wyth their money, and the nedy also for shues: yee let vs sell the chaffe for corne.

⁵ which shalbe slaine of those that possesse them: yet they take it for no sinne, but they that sell them, say: The Lorde be thancked, I am rich: yea, their owne sheperdes spare them not.

²² He that was sowen among thornes, is he that heareth the worde of God: but the care of thys world, and the disceythfulnes of ryches choke the word, & so is he made vnfruteful.

²² When the ionge man hearde that saying: he went away mournynge. For he had great possessions.

¹⁵ and sayd: What wyll ye geue me, and I wyll delyuer him vnto you? And they appoynted vnto him thyrtye peces of syluer.

³ Then when Iudas whiche betrayed him, saw that he was condemned, he repented him selfe, and brought agayne the .xxx. plates of syluer to the chiefe priestes and elders ⁴ saying: I haue synned betrayinge the innocent bloud. And they sayde: what is that to vs? Se thou to that. ⁵ And he caste doune the syluer plates in the temple, and departed, and wente, and honge hym selfe.

¹⁹ and the care of thys worlde & the dysceythfulnes of ryches & the lustes of other thynges, enter in, and choke the worde: and it is made vnfrutefull.

³⁵ For as a snare shall it come on all them that syt on the earth.

⁴ Pertained it not vnto the onelie, and after it was solde, was not the price in thine owne power? Howe is that, thou hast conceiued this thinge in thyne herte? Thou hast not lied vnto men, but vnto God. ⁵ When Ananias hearde these wordes, he fell doune and gaue vp the ghost. And great feare came on all them that hearde these thinges.

²⁰ Then sayd Peter vnto him: thy money perishe with the, because thou wenest that the gift of God maye be obteyned wt money.

²² So then as concernyng the conuersacyon in tyme past, laye from you that olde man, whyche is corrupte thorowe the deceyueable lustes

⁹ vnderstandynge thys, howe that the lawe is not geuen vnto a ryghtuous man but vnto the vnryghtuous and disobedient, to the vngodly and to synners, to vnholy and vncleane, to murtherers of fathers, and murtherers of mothers to manstears

⁷ He muste also be well reported of amonge them whiche are wythout forth, lest he fall into rebuke and snare of the euyll speaker.

²⁶ that they may come to them selues agayne out of the snare of the deuyll, whiche are nowe taken of hym at hys wyll.

¹ Go to nowe ye ryche men. Weepe, and howle on your wretchednes that shal come vpon you. ² Youre ryches is corrupte youre garmentes are motheaten. ³ Your gold and your siluer are cankered, & the ruste of them shal be a witnes vnto you, and shall eate your fleshe, as it were fyre. Ye haue heaped treasure together in your laste dayes: ⁴ Beholde the hyre of the labourers which haue reped doun your fieldes (which hyer is of you kept backe by fraude) crieth: & the cryes of them whiche haue reped, are entred into the eares of the Lorde Sabaoth

¹⁵ and haue forsaken the ryght waye, and are gone astray folowing the waye of Balam the sonne of Bosor, whiche loued the rewarde of vnrightuousnes, ¹⁶ but was rebuked of hys iniquitye. The tame and dome beaste, speakinge with mannes voice, forbade the folishnes of the Prophete.

¹⁵ Se that ye loue not the world, neyther the thynges that are in the worlde. Yf anye man loue the worlde the loue of the father is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world (as the luste of the fleshe, the lust of the eyes, and the pryde of goodes) is not of the father, but of the world. ¹⁷ And the world vanysheth away, and the lust therof, but he that fulfilleth the will of God, abideth euer.

¹⁴ And then Laban said: wel, thou art my bone & my flesh. Abide with me the space of a moneth.

²⁶ Laban answered: it is not the maner of thys place to mary the yongest before the eldest.

And nowe my husband wyll loue me. ³³ And she conceaued agayne & bare a sonne, and sayd: the Lorde hath hearde that I am despysed, & hath therfore geuen me thys Sonne also, & she called hym Simeon. ³⁴ And she conceaued yet, and bare a sonne and sayed: now thys once wyll my husbande kepe me companye, bycause I haue borne him thre sonnes: and therfore she called hys name Leui. ³⁵ And she conceyued yet agayne, and bare a sonne sayinge: nowe wyll I prayse the Lorde: therfore she called hys name Iuda, and left bearyng.

²³ Their goodes and their substaunce, & all theyr cattel are ours, only let vs consent vnto them, that they may dwell with vs. ²⁴ And vnto Hemor and Sichem hys sonne harkened al that went out at the gate of hys city. And al the men children were circumcised whatsoeuer went out at the gates of his city.

¹⁶ And turned to her vnto the waye and sayde, come I praye the, let me lye wyth the, for he knewe not that it was his daughter in lawe. And she sayd what wylt thou geue me for to lye wt me?

⁷ Kepe the ferre from a false matter, and the Innocente and righteous se thou sley not, for I wil not iustify the wicked. ⁸ Thou shalt take no gyftes, for gyftes blynd the seynge and peruerte the wordes of the ryghteous.

¹⁹ Wrest not the lawe nor know any person nether take any reward for giftes blind the wise & peruert the wordes of the ryghtuous.

⁴ because they met you not wyth bread and water in the waye when ye came out of Egypt, & because they hyred agenst the Balaam the sonne of Beor the interpreter of Mesopotamia, to curse the. ⁵ Neuerthelesse the Lorde thy God wolde not herken vnto Balaam, but turned the curse to a blessing vnto the, because the Lorde thy God loued the.

¹⁸ Thou shalt nether brynge the hyre of an whore nor the price of a dogge in to the house of the Lorde thy God, in no maner of vowe, for euen both of them are abhominacion vnto the Lord thy God.

¹⁰ And Micah sayde vnto hym: dwel with me, and be vnto me a father and a priest. And I wyll geue the ten syluerlynges by yere and rayment of al sortes, and thy meate and dryncke. ¹¹ And the Leuite went and beganne to dwel with the man, and was vnto him as dere, as one of hys owne sonnes.

¹⁰ hym that told me howe that Saul was dead, thynkyng to haue brought me good tydynges, I caught & slew in Zikeleg, to geue hym a rewarde for his tydynges bringing. ¹¹ And how much more ought I so to deale with weked men that haue slayne a ryghtuouse person in hys owne house vpon hys bed. Now therfore thynke ye that I wyll not requyre hys bloude of youre handes and take you from the earth?

²⁷ The leprosye therfore of Naaman claue vnto the, & vnto thy seede for euer. And he went out from hym a leper as whit as snowe.

¹⁰ Great plages shal the vngodly haue, but who so putteth hys trust in the Lorde, mercy shall compasse him on euery syde.

¹⁹ These are the ways of all suche as be couetous, that one wolde rauish anothers life.

³¹ Therfore shal they eate the frutes of their owne way, & be filled with their oune counsayls:

²³ Thy prynces are traytours and companyons of theues. They loue gyftes altogether, & folowe rewardes. As for the fatherles, they helpe hym not to hys ryght, nether wyll they let the wydowes causes come before them.

²⁷ And lyke as a net is ful of byrdes, so are their houses full of that which they haue gotten wt falshed and disceyte. Hereof commeth theyr greate substaunce and ryches, ²⁸ hereof are they fat and welthy, and are runne awaye fro me wyth shameful blasphemyes. They mynistre not the lawe, they make no ende of the fatherlesses cause, they iudge not the poore according to equite.

¹⁹ and dishonoure me to my people, for an handfull of barleye, and for a pece of breade: when ye kyll the soules of them, that dye not, & promes lyfe to them, that lyue not: Thus ye dyssemble with my people, that beleueth youre lyes.

³³ Gyftes are geuen to al other whores, but thou geuest rewardes vnto all thy louers: and offrest them gyftes, to come vnto the out of all places, and to committe fornicacyon wt the.

¹² yea gyftes haue bene receyued in the, to shede bloude. Thou haste taken vsury and encreace, thou haste oppressed thy neyghbours by extorcion, and forgotten me, sayeth the Lorde God.

¹¹ O ye iudges, ye geue sentence for gyftes: O ye preastes, ye teach for lucre: O ye Prophetes, ye prophecy for monye. Yet wyll they be taken as those that holde vpon God, and saye: Is not the Lorde amonge vs? Tushe, there can no mysfortune happen vs.

³ yet they saye: they do well, when they do euil. As the prince wyll, so sayeth the iudge: that he maye do him a pleasure agayne. The greate man speaketh what his herte desyreth: & the hearers alowe hym. ⁴ The best of them is but as a thistle, & the most rightuous of them is but as a breer in the hedge. But when the day of thy preachers commeth, that thou shalt be vysyted: then shall they be wasted awaye.

¹⁰ Yea, what is he amonge you, that wyll do so muche as to shut the dores, or to kindle the fire vpon myne aulter for naught? I haue no pleasure in you, sayeth the Lord of hostes: and as for the meatofferynge, I will not accepte it at your hande.

¹⁶ Ye men and brethren this scripture muste haue nedes ben fulfilled, which the holy ghost through the mouth of Dauid spake before of Iudas, whiche was gyde to them that toke Iesus. ¹⁷ For he was noumbred wyth vs and had obtayned felowshype in this ministracion. ¹⁸ And the same hath now possessed a plot of grounde with the rewarde of iniquitie, and when he was hanged, brast a sondre in the myddes. and all his bowels gushed out. ¹⁹ And it is knowen vnto all the inhabiters of Ierusalem, in so much that, that felde is called in theyr mother tonge Acheldama, that is to say, the bloude fielde.

⁹ They that wyll be rych, fall into temptacyon and snares, and into many folysh and noysome lustes which drowne men in perdicyon and destruccyon.

²¹ whiche science whyle some professed, they haue erred as concernyng the fayth. Grace be with the. AMEN.

¹⁹ Brethren yf anye of you erre from the trueth and an other conuerte hym,

⁷ And iust Lot vexed with the vnclenly conuersacyon of the wicked, deliuered he. ⁸ For he beinge rightuouse and dwellinge amonge them, in seinge and hearinge, vexed his rightuouse soule from daye to daye wyth theyr vnlawfull dedes.

²⁰ But in all thyngs folowe ryghtuousnes that thou maist lyue & enioy the land which the Lord thy God geueth the.

¹ This is the blessing wherwith Moses Goddes man blessed the chyldren of Israel before his deathe,

²⁷ And there came a man of God vnto Eli & sayde vnto hym: thus sayth the Lorde. I apeared vnto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypte in Pharaos house.

⁶ And he answered him: behold, there is in this cytie a worshipful man of God, & all that he sayth, cometh to passe. Now then let vs go thether, paraduenture he shall shew vs what waye we may go.

¹ And beholde, there came a man of God out of Iuda with the worde of God, to Bethel, as Ieroboam stode by the aulter to offer,

²⁶ And when the Prophete that brought hym backe agayne from the waye, hearde thereof, he sayde: it is the man of God whiche disobeyed the mouthe of the Lorde. And therfore the Lorde hath deliuered hym vnto the Lyon whiche hath rente hym, and slayne hym, accordyng to the word of the Lorde, whiche he sayde to hym.

¹⁸ Then saide she vnto Eliah: what haue I done with the, O thou man of God? arte thou come vnto me, that my sinne shoulde be tought on & my sonne slayne?

²⁴ Then the wyfe sayde to Eliah: nowe I knowe that thou art a Gods man, and that the worde of the Lorde in thy mouth, is truthe.

²⁸ Then there came a man of God and sayde vnto the kyng of Israel: thus sayeth the Lorde? Because the Siriens saye, the Lorde is but a God of the hylles, and not God of the valeys to: therfore wyl I delyuer all thys great multytude into thyne hande that ye may know that I am the Lorde.

⁹ Then the kynge sent vnto him a capitayne, ouer fyfty with his fyftye. And when the captayne was come to him: beholde, he sat on the toppe of an hyl. And the captayne sayde vnto him: man of God, the kinge biddeth the come doune.

¹³ And when the third captaine ouer fyfty was come vp to him, he fel on hys knees before Eliah and besought hym & sayde vnto him: Oh man of God, let my lyfe & thy lyfe of these fyfty thy seruauntes be preciouse in thy sight.

²⁰ Gihezi the seruaunt of Elizeus the man of God, sayd: se, my mayster hath kepte of, thys Syryen Naaman that he wolde not receyue of hys hand that he offered. As surely as the Lorde lyueth I wyl runne after hym, and take somewhat.

¹⁷ Then the kynge saide: what meaneth younder graue stone that I se? And the men of the citye tolde hym: it is the sepulchre of the man of God, whyche came from Iuda and openlye denounced the selfe same thynges that thou hast done to the aulter of Bethel.

¹⁴ And as for Moses the man of God, hys chyldren were named wt the trybe of Leui.

¹⁴ And Salomon put the sortes of pryestes in companyes as Dauid hys father had ordered them, vnto the offyces, & the Leuites vnto theyr wayt, for to prayse & mynystre before the priestes daye by daye, and the porters by course at euerye gate. For so had Dauid the man of God commaunded.

²⁴ And these were the chefe amonge the Leuytes, Hasabiah, Serebiah and Iesua the sonne of Cadmiel, and theyr brethren ouer agaynste them, to geue prayse and thankes, according as Dauid the man of God had ordeyned it, one watche ouer agaynst another

³⁶ and hys brethren, Semeiah, Asarael, Melalai, Galalai, Maai Nathanael and Iuda and Hanani, wyth the musicall instrumentes of Dauid the man of God. And Esdras the Scrybe before them,

¹⁴ Let hym eschue euell, and do good: Lette hym seke peace and ensue it.

²⁰ They that rewarde me euel for good, speake euell of me, because I folowe the thyng that good is.

¹ Herken vnto me, ye that hold of ryghtuousnes, ye that seke the Lord. Take hede vnto the stone whereout ye are hewen, and to the graue whereoute ye are digged.

⁴ and brought them to the house of the Lorde, into the closet of the chyldren of Hanan the sonne of Iegedaliah the man of God: which was by the closet of the Princes, that is aboue the closet of Maasiah the sonne of Selum, whiche is the chefe of the treasurye.

¹⁹ Let vs folowe those thynges which make for peace, and thynges wherewith one maye edifye another.

¹⁸ Fle fornycatyon. Al synnes that a man doth, are without the body. But he that is a fornicatour, sinneth agaynst his owne bodye.

¹⁴ Wherfore my deare beloued, fle from worshipping of Idols.

¹ Laboure for loue, and couete spyrytuall gyftes: and moste chiefely for to prophecye.

²² But the frute of the spiryte, is loue, ioye peace, longe sufferynge, gentylnes, goodnes, faithfulnes, ²³ mekenes, temperauncye. Against suche there is no lawe.

⁸ Furthermore brethren, whatsoeuer thynges are true, whatsoeuer thinges are honest, whatsoeuer thinges are iuste, whatsoeuer thinges are pure, whatsoeuer thinges pertaine to loue, whatsoeuer thinges are of honeste report: yf there be anie vertuous thinge yf there be anye laudable thinge, ⁹ those same haue ye in your minde, whiche ye haue both learned and receiued, hearde, and also sene in me: those thinges do, and the God of peace shall be wyth you.

¹² Let no man despyse thy youthe: but be vnto them that beleue, an ensample, in worde in conuersacyon, in loue, in spyryte, in fayth & in purenes.

¹⁰ and well reported of in good workes: yf she haue nouryshed chyldren, yf she haue bene lyberall to straungers, yf she haue washed the saynctes fete, yf she haue mynystred vnto them whiche were in aduersitie, yf she were contynually geuen vnto all maner good workes.

²⁰ O Timothe saue that whiche is geuen the to kepe, and auoyde vnghostlye vanytyes of voyces and opposicyons of science falslye so called,

²² Lustes of youth auoyde, and folow ryghtuousnes, fayth, loue, & peace, with them that call on the Lorde with pure herte.

¹⁷ that the man of God maye be perfecte and prepared vnto all good workes.

¹¹ For the grace of God, that bringeth saluacion vnto al men, hath apered ¹² & teacheth vs that we shoulde denye vngodlynes & worldly lustes, and that we shoulde lyue sobre mynded ryghtuouslye and Godly in this present worlde,

¹⁴ Embrace peace wt all men and holynes, wythout the whiche no man shall se the Lorde.

¹¹ Let hym eschue euyll and do good, let him seke peace, and ensue it.

³ And thou shalt come vnto the preast that shalbe in those dayes and saye vnto hym, I knowledge this daie vnto the Lord thy God, that I am come vnto the countre which the Lord sware vnto oure fathers for to geue vs.

¹⁷ Thou hast sett vp the Lorde thys daye to be thy God and to walke in his wayes & to kepe hys ordinaunces, his commaundementes and his lawes, and to herken vnto his voyce. ¹⁸ And the Lord hath sett the vp thys daye, to be a seuerall people vnto him (as he hath promysed the) & that thou kepe his commaundementes, ¹⁹ & to make the hye aboue al nacions which he hath made, in prayse, in name and honoure: that thou mayst be an holy people vnto the Lord thy God, as he hath sayde.

⁸ My soule hangeth vpon the, thy ryghte hande vpholdeth me.

¹⁸ She is a tree of lyfe to them that laye holde vpon her, and blessed are they that kepe her fast.

⁴ So when I was a litle past them, I founde hym whom my soule loueth. I haue gotten holde vpon him, & will not let hym go, vntil I bryng hym into my mothers house, and into her chambre that bare me.

⁵ One wyll saye: I am the Lordes. Another will call vnder the name of Iacob. The thyrde shall descrybe wyth hys hande vnto the Lorde, and geue hym selfe vnder the name of Israel.

⁵ They shalbe as the giauntes, whiche in the batell tread doune the myre vpon the stretes. They shal fight, for the Lorde shalbe wyth them, so that the horsemen shalbe confounded.

⁸ I saye vnto you whosoeuer confesseth me before men, euen hym shall the sonne of man confesse also before the Angels of God. ⁹ And he that denyeth me before men, shalbe denied before the Angels of God.

²⁸ For we knowe that all thynges worke for the beste vnto them that loue God, whyche also are called of purpose. ²⁹ For those which he knewe before he also ordeyned before, that they shoulde be like fashioned vnto the shape of hys sonne that he myght be the fyrste begotten sonne amonge manye brethren. ³⁰ More ouer whiche he appointed before, them he also called. And which he called, them also he iustified, whiche he iustified, them he also glorifyed.

²³ that he myght declare the riches of his glory on the vesseles of mercye, whiche he had prepared vnto glorye: ²⁴ that is to saye, vs whom he called, not of the Iewes only, but also of the gentils.

⁹ For yf thou shalt knoweledge with thy mouthe that Iesus is the Lorde, and shalte beleue with thyne herte that God raysed hym vp from death, thou shalte be safe. ¹⁰ For the beliefe of the herte iustifyeth: and to knoweledge with the mouth, maketh a man safe.

²⁵ Euery man that proueth maysters abstaineth from all thinges. And they do it to obtaine a corruptible croune: but we to obtaine an vncorruptible croune. ²⁶ I therfore so runne, not as an uncertaine thinge. So fight I not as one that beateth the ayer:

⁷ in the wordes of trueth, in the power of God, in the armour of ryghtuousnes on the ryght hande, and on the lyfte,

¹³ whiche prayse God for the obedience of youre professyng the Gospell of Christe, and for youre synglenes in distrybutynge to them and to all men,

³ Neuerthelesse thoughe we walke compassed wt the fleshe, yet we ware not fleshly. ⁴ For the weapens of oure warre are not carnal thynges, but thynges myghtye in God to caste doune stronge holdes, ⁵ wherewith we ouerthrowe Imaginations and euerye hye thynge that exalteth it selfe agaynste the knoweledge of God, and brynge into captiuite all vnderstandynge to the obedience of Christe,

¹⁰ Finally my brethren, be stronge in the Lord and in the power of his myghte. ¹¹ Put on the armoure of God, that ye maye stande stedfaste agaynste the crafty assautes of the deuyll. ¹² For we wrestle not againste fleshe and bloude: but against rule, agaynst power, and againste worldlye rulers of the darckenes of thys worlde, againste spyrytuall wickednes, for heauenly thynges. ¹³ For thys cause take vnto you the armoure of God, that ye maye be able to resiste in the euyl daye, and stande perfect in al thinges. ¹⁴ Stande therfore, and your loynes gyrde about wyth veritie, hauinge on the breste plate of rightuousnes, ¹⁵ and shoed with shoes prepared by the Gospel of peace. ¹⁶ Aboue all take to you the shelde of fayth, wherwith ye maye quench all the fyrie dartes of the wycked. ¹⁷ And take the helmet of saluacion and the swerd of the spyrite, which is the word of God. ¹⁸ And praye all wayes wyth all maner prayer and supplicacion: and that in the spirite, and watch therunto with all instaunce and supplication for all sainctes,

¹² Not as though I had alreadie atteined to it, either were already perfecte: but I folowe yf that I maye comprehende that, wherin I am comprehended of Christ Iesu. ¹³ Brethren I count not my selfe that I haue gotten it: but one thinge I say. I forget that, whiche is behinde, & stretche my selfe vnto that whiche is before, ¹⁴ and prease vnto the marke appointed, to obteine the reward of the high callinge of God in Christe Iesu. ¹⁵ And the peace of God rule in your hertes, to the which peace ye are called in one bodye. And se that ye be thankfull.

¹² that ye woulde walke worthye of God, whiche hath called you vnto his kingdome & glory.

⁸ But let vs whiche are of the daye, be sober, armed wyth the breste plate of fayth and loue, and wyth hope of saluacyon as an helmet. ⁹ For God hath not annoynted vs vnto wrath: but to obtayne saluacyon by the meanes of oure Lord Iesu Christ

¹⁴ whereunto he called you by oure Gospell, to obtayne the glorye that commeth of oure Lorde Iesu Christe.

¹⁸ Thys commaundement committe I vnto the sonne Timotheus, accordyng to the Prophesyes whiche in tyme paste were Prophesyed of the that thou in them shouldest fyght a good fyghte

¹³ I geue the charge in the syght of GOD, whiche quickeneth all thynges, & before Iesu Christe whiche vnder Poncyus Pylate wytnessed a good wytnessynge,

¹⁹ layinge vp in store for them selues a good foundacyon agaynste the tyme to come that they maye obtayne eternal lyfe.

⁹ whiche saued vs and called vs with an holye callynge, not accordynge to hys owne purpose & grace whiche grace was geuen vs thorowe Christe before the worlde was,

⁷ I haue fought a good fyght, and haue fulfylled my course, and haue kepte the fayth.

¹⁸ that by two immutable thynges (in which it was vnpossyble that GOD shaulde lye) we myghte haue perfecte consolacyon, whiche haue fled, for to holde faste the hope that is set before vs,

²³ knowe the brother Tymothe, whome we haue sent from vs, with whom (yf he come shortly) I wyll se you.

⁹ not rendringe euyll for euyll, neyther rebuke for rebuke, but contrarywyse, blesse, remembryng that ye are thervnto called, euen that ye shoulde be heyres of blessinge.

¹⁰ The God of al grace, which called you vnto his eternal glory by Christe Iesus, shall hys owne selfe after ye haue suffred a litle affliccion make you perfecte, shall settle, strength and stablishe you.

²⁵ And this is the promes, that he hath promysed vs euen eternal lyfe.

³ Remember therfore howe thou hast receiued and hearde, and hold faste & repent. Yf thou shalt not watche, I wyl come on the as a thiefe, and thou shalt not knowe, what hour I wil come vpon the.

³⁹ Se nowe howe that I, I am he, and that there is no God but I. I can kyll and make a lyue, and what I haue smytten that I can heale: neyther is there that can deliuer anye man out of my hande.

⁶ The Lorde kylleth and maketh a lyue, bryngeth doune to hell & fetcheth vp agayne

¹¹ Iesus stode before the debitie: and the debytie axed hym saying: Art thou the Kynge of the Iewes? Iesus sayed vnto hym: Thou sayest,

²¹ For lykewyse as the father rayseth vp the dead, and quickeneth them: euen so the sonne quickeneth whom he wyll.

²⁶ For as the father hath lyfe in him selfe, so lykewyse hath he geuen to the sonne to haue lyfe in him selfe,

⁶ Iesus sayd vnto hym: I am the waye, the truthe and the lyfe. And no man commeth to the father, but by me.

²⁵ Thys haue I spoken vnto you, beynge yet present with you. ²⁶ But that comforter whiche is the holy ghost (whome my father wil send in my name) he shal teache you all thinges, & brynge all thynges to youre remembraunce whatsoeuer I haue tolde you.

³⁶ Iesus aunswered my kingdome is not of thys worlde. If my kingdome were of thys worlde, then woulde my mynisters surely fyght, that I shoulde not be delyuered to the Iewes, but now is my kyngdom not from hence. ³⁷ Pilate sayed to him: Arte thou a kynge then? Iesus aunswered: Thou sayest that I am a kynge. For thys cause was I borne, and for thys cause came I into the worlde, that I shoulde beare wytnes vnto the trueth. And al that are of the trueth heare my voyce.

¹¹ Iesus aunswered: Than couldest haue no power at all agaynst me, except it were geuen the from aboue. Therfore he that delyuered me vnto the, is more in synne.

²⁵ as though he neded of any thing seynge he hym selfe geueth lyfe and brethe to al men euerye where,

⁵ For there is one God, and one Meadiatoure betwene God and man, which is the man Christ Iesus

²¹ I testyfye before God & the Lorde Iesus Christ, and the electe aungels, that thou obserue these thynges wythout hasty iudgement and do nothynge parcyally.

¹² Fyghte the good fyght of fayth. Laye hande on eternall lyfe, wherevnto thou arte called and hast professed a good professyon before manye wytnesses.

⁵ and from Iesus Christ, whiche is a faythfull wytnes, and fyrst begotten of the dead, and Lorde ouer the kynges of the earth. Vnto him, that loued vs and washed vs from synnes in his owne bloude,

¹⁴ And vnto the messenger of the congregacion, which is in Laodicia wryte: Thys sayth (Amen) the faythful and true wytnes, the beginninge of the creatures of God.

⁶ And he said vnto me: it is done, I am Alpha & Omega, the beginning & the ende. I will geue to hym that is a thyrst of the wel of the water of lyfe free.

¹ And he shewed me a pure ryuer of water of life cleare as cristal: procedyng out of the seat of god and of the lambe.

⁹ And thou Salomon my sonne: knowe God thy father, and serue hym with a pure hert, and lust of soule. For the Lorde searcheth all hertes, and vnderstandeth all the Imaginacyons of thoughtes. If thou shalte seke hym, he wylbe founde of the: But & yf thou forsake hym, he wyll caste the of for euer. ¹⁰ Take hede now, for the Lord hath chosen the, to buylde an house of thy sanctuarye. Be stronge, and do it.

²⁰ And Dauid sayde to Salomon hys sonne: harden thy self, and be strong, and do it, feare not, nor let thyne herte dyscourage the. For the Lorde God my God is wyth the, & shall not leaue the nor forsake the, vntyll thou haste fynyshed all the worcke that must serue for the house of the Lorde.

⁷ Thou arte all fayre, O my loue, and no spot is therin the.

⁸ which shal strength you vnto the ende, that ye may be blamelesse in the daye of oure Lorde Iesus Christ.

²⁷ to make it vnto hym selfe a glorious congregation wythout spotte or wrinckle, or anye suche thinge: but that it shoulde be holy and wythout blame.

⁶ and am surelye certifyed of this, that he whyche began a good worke in you, shall go forth wyth it vntyll the daye of Iesus Christe,

¹⁰ that ye myght accepte thinges moste excellent, that ye might be pure and such as should hurte no mannes conscience, vntyll the daye of Christe,

¹⁵ that ye maye be fauteles & pure, the sonnes of God wythout rebuke, in the middes of a croked and a peruerse nacyon, amonge whiche se that ye shine as lightes in the worlde,

²² in the body of his fleshe thorowe death, to make you holye vnblamable and without faut in his owne syght,

¹⁷ And saye to Archippus: take hede to the offyce that thou hast receyued in the Lord, that thou fulfill it.

¹³ to make your hertes stable & vnblameable in holynesse before God oure father, at the comminge of our Lorde Iesus wyth al hys sainctes.

²³ The very God of peace sanctifye you thorowout. And I praye God that your whole spyryte, soule and bodye, be kept faultles vnto the comming of oure Lorde Iesus Christe.

¹ We beseche you brethren by the commynge of oure Lorde Iesu Christe, and in that we shal assemble vnto hym,

⁸ And then shall that wicked be vttered, whome the Lorde shall consume with the spirite of hys mouth, and shall destroye wt the aperaunce of hys commynge.

¹¹ Suche thynges commaunde and teache. ¹² Let no man despyse thy youthe: but be vnto them that beleue, an ensample, in worde in conuersacyon, in loue, in spyryte, in fayth & in purenes. ¹³ Tyll I come, geue attendaunce to reading to exhortacyon and to doctryne. ¹⁴ Despyse not the gyfte that is in the, whiche was geuen the thorow Prophesye, and wyth layinge on of the handes of an elder. ¹⁵ These thynges exercyse, and geue thy selfe vnto them, that it maye be sene howe thou profytest in all thynges. ¹⁶ Take hede vnto thy selfe and vnto learnyng, and contynue therein. For yf thou shalte so do, thou shalte saue thy selfe and them that heare the.

¹ I testifye therfore before God, & before the Lord Iesu Christe, which shall iudge quycke and deade in hys appearyng in his kyngedome,

¹³ lokynge for that blessed hope and gloryous apperyng of the myghtye God, and of oure sauyoure Iesu Christe,

¹⁴ Howe muche more shall the bloude of Christe (which thorow the eternall spyryte offred hym selfe without spot to God) pourge youre conscyences from dead workes, for to serue the lyuyng God?

²⁸ euen so Christ was ones offered to take away the synnes of many, and vnto them that loke for hym, shall he appere agayne wythoute synne vnto saluacyon.

⁷ that youre faythe ones tryed beynge muche more precyous, then golde that perysheth (though it be tryed with fyre) myghte be founde vnto laude, glory, and honoure, at the apearynge of Iesus Christ

¹⁹ but wyth the precyous bloud of christ as of a lambe vndefyled, and wythout spotte,

¹⁴ Wherfore dearly beloued, seynge that ye loke for such thinges, be diligent that ye may be found of hym in peace, wythout spotte and vndefyled

² Dearly beloued, now are we the sonnes of God, and yet it doeth not appeare, what we shalbe. But we knowe that when it shal appere, we shalbe like him. For we shall se him as he is.

²⁴ Vnto hym that is able to kepe you, that ye fal not, and to preserue you fautles before the presence of hys glorye wyth ioye,

⁷ Behold he commeth wyth cloudes, and al eyes shal se him: and they also whiche persed hym. And all kynredes of the earth shal waile. Euen so. Amen:

¹² Vnto Esdras the priest and scribe in the lawe of the God of heauen, peace and salutacyon.

² For the Lord the most hyest is to be feared, and he is the great kyng vpon all the earth.

¹⁸ That they may know that thou art alone that thy name is the Lorde, & that thou onely art the moost hyest ouer all the earth.

¹⁵ Thorow me, kinges reygn: thorow me, prynces make iust lawes.

¹⁰ But the Lorde is a true God, a lyuynge God, and an euerlastinge kyng. Yf he be wroth, the earthe shaketh: all the Gentiles maye not abyde his indygnacyon.

¹⁸ As truely as I liue (sayeth the kynge, whose name is the Lorde of Hostes) it shal come as the mount of Thabor, and as Libanus yf it stond in the sea.

⁴⁴ In the dayes of these kinges shall the God of heauen set vp an euerlastynge kyngdome whiche shall not peryshe, and hys kyngdome shall not be geuen ouer to another people: yea the same shal breake and destroy al these kingdomes, but it shall endure foreuer. ⁴⁵ And where as thou saweste, that withoute any handes there was cut oute of the mounte a stone, whiche brake the yron, the copper, the earthe, the syluer and golde in peces: by that hath the greate God shewed the kynge, what wyll come after thys. This is a true dreame, and the interpretacyon of it is sure. ⁴⁶ Then the kynge Nabuchodonosor fell doune vpon hys face, and bowed hym self vnto Daniel, and commaunded that they shuld offre meate offerynges and swete odours vnto hym. ⁴⁷ The kynge aunswered Daniel, and sayde: yea of a trueth your God is a GOD aboue all Goddes, a Lorde aboue all kynges and an opener of secretes: seynge thou canste dyscouer thys mysterye.

³⁴ When this tyme was passed, I Nabuchodonosor lyfte vp myne eyes vnto heauen, and myne vnderstandynge was restored vnto me agayne. Then gaue I thanckes vnto the hyghest. I magnifyed and praysed hym that lyueth for euermore, whose power endureth alwaye, and his kingdome from one generacion to another:

¹³ And lead vs not into temptaciou. But delyuer vs from euyll. For thyne is the kingdome and the power, and the glorye for euer Amen.

¹¹ accordynge to the Gospell of the glorye of the blessed God, whiche Gospell is committed vnto me.

¹⁷ So then vnto God, kyng euerlastyng, immortall, inuysyble, and wyse onely, be honoure & prayse for euer and euer. Amen.

⁶ which gaue hym self a raunsome for al men, that it shoulde be testifyed at hys tyme,

¹⁴ These shal fyght wt the lamb, & the lamb shal ouercome them. For he is Lorde of Lordes, & kinge of kinges, & they that are on his syde, are called the chosen and faithful.

¹⁶ And hath on hys vesture & on hys thighe a name wrytten: king of kinges, & Lord of Lordes,

¹⁴ Then sayd God vnto Moyses: I wilbe what I wyll be: & he said, this shalt thou say vnto the children of Israel: I wilbe did send me to you.

²⁰ And he sayed furthermore, thou maiste not see my for there shall no man se me and lyue.

⁴⁰ For I wyll lyfte vp myne hand to heauen, and wyl say: I lyue euer.

² Before the mountaines were broughte forthe, or euer the earthe and the worlde were made, thou art God from euerlastynge and worlde without ende.

² Thou deckest thy self with light, as it were with a garment, thou spredest out the heauen lyke a curtayne.

¹⁵ For thus sayeth the hye and excellent, euen he that dwelleth in euerlastingnesse, whose name is the holy one. I dwell hye aboue & in the sanctuary, and with him also, that is of a contrite & humble spirite: that I maye heale a troubled mind, & a contrite hert.

⁴ Hys shyne is as the sunne, & beames of lyght go out of his handes, there is his power hyd.

¹⁸ No man hath sene God at anye tyme. The onlye begotten sonne which is in the bosome of the father, he hath declared hym.

⁴⁶ Not that anye man hath sene the father, saue which is of God, the same hath sene the father.

⁵⁸ Iesus said vnto them: Verelye verely I saye vnto you: yer Abraham was I am.

⁹ Iesus sayd vnto hym. Haue I bene so longe tyme with you, and yet haste thou not knowen me? Philip, he that hath sene me, hath sene the father. And how sayest thou then: shew vs the father?

²⁵ To hym that is of power to stablysh you, accordynge to my Gospell and preachinge of Iesus Christe, in vtterynge of the mysterye whiche was kepte secrete sence the worlde began, ²⁶ but nowe is opened by the scriptures of prophesye, at the commaundemente of the euerlastynge God, to stere vp obedience to the fayth publyshed among all nacions: ²⁷ To the same God, which alone is wyse, be all prayse thorowe Iesus Christe for euer. AMEN.

²¹ be prayse in the congregation by Iesus Christe, thorowout al generacions, from time to time. Amen.

²⁰ Vnto God and oure father be prayse for euermore. Amen.

¹⁵ whyche is the ymage of the inuisible God, fyrste begotten of creatures.

⁸ Iesus Christe yesterdaye and to daye, and the same contynueth for euer.

⁵ And this is the tydinges that we haue heard of him, and declare vnto you, that God is lyghte and in him is no darckenes at al,

²⁵ that is to saye, to God oure sauyoure whiche onelye is wise be glorye maiestye, dominion and power, now and for euer. Amen.

⁶ & made vs kinges and priestes vnto God his father: be glorye and dominyon for euer more. Amen.

⁸ I am Alpha and Omega, the begynnynge and the endynge, sayeth the Lorde almyghty, whiche is, which was, and whiche is to come.

¹⁶ And he had in hys ryghthande .vij. starres. And out of his mouth went a sharp two edged sweard. And hys face shone euen as the sonne in hys strength. ¹⁷ And when I sawe hym, I fell at hys fete, euen as dead. And he layde hys ryght hande vpon me, saiynge vnto me: feare not, I am the fyrste, and the laste, ¹⁸ and am alyue, and was dead. And beholde I am alyue for euer more and haue the kayes of hell, & of death.

¹¹ thou art worthy Lorde to receiue glory and honour and power, for thou hast created al thinges, and for thy wylles sake they are and were created.

¹² saying, Amen: Blessing and glory, wisdome, and thankes, and honoure, and power & mighte, be vnto our God for euermore: Amen.

³ And I heard a great voyce out of heauen saying: beholde, the tabernacle of God is wt men, and he wyll dwell with them. And they shal be his people, & God hym selfe shalbe with them & be theyr God.

⁵ And there shalbe no nyght there, and they nede no candel neyther lyghte of the sunne: for the Lorde geueth them lyghte, & they shall rayne for euermore.

² Abram was verye ryche in cattell, syluer, & golde.

¹⁰ And when the lord thy God hath brought the into the land which he sware vnto thy fathers Abraham, Isaac & Iacob, to gyue the with great & goodly cityes which thou buildedst not, ¹¹ & houses full of all maner goodes which thou filledest not, and welles dygged whych thou dyggedest not, & vynes & olyue trees which thou plantedest not, & when thou hast eaten and art ful: ¹² Then beware lest thou forget the Lorde whych brought the oute of the lande of Egipt the house of bondage.

¹⁷ And beware that thou saye not in thyne herte, my power & the myght of mine owne hande hath done me all these actes:

¹⁵ & wyth the toppes of mountaines that were from the begynnyng and wyth the dayntes of hylles that last euer

¹⁶ And in his greatnesse hys hert arose, that he was marred: & transgressed against the Lord his God. For he went into the temple of the Lorde to burne cense vpon the aulter of incense.

²⁵ But Hezekiah dyd not according to the curtesy shewed him, for his hert arose: & therfore came there wrath vpon him & vpon Iuda and Ierusalem. ²⁶ Not withstanding Hezekiah mekened him selfe for that a rysing of hys herte, both he and the enhabyters of Ierusalem. Wherfore the wrath of the Lord fel not vpon them in the dayes of Hezekiah.

¹ In the lande of Nus there was a man called Iob: an innocent & vertuous man, soche one as feared God exchued euell. ² This man had .vij. sonnes, & .iij. daughters. ³ Hys substaunce was .vij.M. shepe .iij.M. camels .v.C. youck of oxen .v.C. she asses, & a very greate housholde: so that he was one of the moste principall men amonge all them of the east countre.

²⁴ Haue I put my truste in goulde? Or haue I sayde to the fynest gould of all: thou art my confidence? ²⁵ Haue I reioysed because my substaunce was great, and because my hande gat so muche?

³ For the vngodly maketh bost of his owne hertes desyre, the couetous blesseth him selfe and blasphemeth the Lorde. ⁴ The vngodlye is so proude and full of indignacyon, that he careth not mether is God before hys eyes.

⁷ Lo, this is the man, that toke not God for his strength but trusted vnto the multitud of his riches, & was myghty in his wickednes.

⁸ O put your trust in him alway (ye people) poure oute youre hertes before hym, for God is our hope. Selah.

¹⁰ O trust not in wronge and robbery, geue not youre selues vnto vanitye: if ryches encrease, set not your herte vpon them.

⁵ They come in no misfortune lyke other folke, neither are they plaged like other men. ⁶ And this is the cause that they be so puft vp in pryde, and ouerwhelmed with crueltie & vnrighteousnesse. ⁷ Their eyes swell for fatnesse, they do euen what they lyst. ⁸ Corrupte are they, and speake blasphemyes maliciouslye, proude and presumpteous are their wordes. ⁹ They stretche forth their mouthe vnto the heauen, and their tongue goeth thorow the worlde.

¹¹ For the Lord God is a light and defence, the Lorde wyll geue grace and worshyppe, and no good thynge shall he wytholde from them that lyue a godly lyfe. ¹² O Lorde God of Hostes, blessed is the man that putteth his truste in the.

²⁸ When thou geuest it them, they gather it: when thou openest thyne hande, they are filled with good.

⁸ It is better to trust in the lord, then to put any cofydence in man. ⁹ It is better to trust in the lord then to put any confydence in prynces.

²⁸ He that trusteth in hys ryches shall haue a fall, but the righteous shall florish as the grene leaf.

⁵ Why wylt thou set thyne eie vpon the thing, which sodenly vanysheth awaye? For ryches make them selues wynges, & take their flight lyke an Aegle into the ayre.

⁹ Lest if I be to full, I denye the, & say: what felow is the Lord? And lest I beynge constrayned thorow pouerte, fall vnto stealyng, and forsweare the name of my God.

¹³ Yet is there a sore plague, whiche I haue sene vnder the sunne (namely) ryches kept to the hurt of him that hath them in possession. ¹⁴ For oft tymes they perishe with his greate misery & trouble: and if he haue a chylde, it getteth nothynge.

¹⁸ Therefore me thincke it a better and a fayrer thinge a manne to eate and dryncke, and to be refreshied of all hys laboure, that he taketh vnder the Sunne all the dayes of hys lyfe which God geueth hym, for this is hys porcyon. ¹⁹ For vnto whom soeuer God geueth ritches, goodes and power, he geueth it him to enioy it, to take it for hys porcyon, and to be refreshed of his laboure: thys is nowe the gyfte of God.

³¹ Yf ye be the people of the Lorde, then herken vnto this worde: Am I then become a wyldernesse vnto the people of Israel? or a lande that hath no light? Wherfore sayeth my people then: we are fallen of, and we wyl come no more vnto the?

²³ Moreouer, thus sayeth the Lorde: Let not the wyse man reioyse in his wisdome, nor the stronge man in hys strength, neyther the ryche man in hys ryches: ²⁴ But who so wyl reioyse, let hym reioyse in this, that he vnderstandeth and knoweth me: for I am the Lorde, which do mercy, equite, and ryghtuousnes vpon the earth. Therefore haue I pleasure in suche thynges, sayeth the Lorde.

⁷ O blessed is the man, that putteth hys trust in the Lorde, and whose hope is the Lorde hym selfe. ⁸ For he shalbe as a tre, that is planted by the water syde: which spredeth out the rote vnto moystness, whom the heate can not harme, when it commeth, but his leaues are grene. And though there growe but lytle frute because of drouth, yet is he not carefull, but he neuer leaueth of to brynge forth fruite.

⁴⁹ Beholde, the sinnes of thy sister Sodoma were these: Pryde, fulnesse of meate, aboundaunce and Idelnesse: these thynges had she and her doughters. Besydes that, they reached not their hande to the pore and nedy, ⁵⁰ but were proude, and dyd abhomynable thinges before me: therfore I toke them awaye, when I had sene it.

⁵⁶ When thou wast in thy pryde,

³⁰ and sayde: Thys is the greate cytye of Babilon, which I my selfe (wyth my power & strengthe) haue made a kynges courte, for the honour of my magestye.

¹⁹ so that al people, kynredes and tunge stode in awe & feare of him, by reason of the hye estate, that he had lente him. For why, he slewe whom he wold: he smote, whom it pleased hym. Agayne, whom he wolde, he set vp: and whome he lyst, he put doune. ²⁰ But because hys herte was so proude, and hys stomacke set so fast vnto wilfulnesse: he was deposed from hys kingly trone, & his magesty was taken from hym. ²¹ He was shote oute from amonge men, his herte was lyke a beastes herte, and hys dwellynge was wyth the wylde asses: he was fayne to eate grasse lyke an oxe, and hys body was wet with the dewe of the heauen: tyll he knewe, that the hyest had power vpon the kingdomes of men, and setteth ouer them, whome he lyst. ²² And thou hys sonne (O Balthazar) for al this, hast not submytted thyne herte, thoughe thou knewest all these thynges, ²³ but hast magnyfyed thy selfe aboue the Lorde of heauen, so that the vessels of hys house were broughte before the, that thou, and thy Lordes, with thy quene and concubynes, myght drincke wyne thereoute: And hast praysed the Idoles of syluer and golde, copper and yron, of wode and stone: As for the God in whose hande consysteth thy breth and all thy wayes: thou haste not loaued hym.

⁶ But when they were wel fedde & had ynough, they waxed proude, and forgat me.

¹⁵ They take vp all with theyr angle, they catche it in theyr net, and gather it in theyr yarne: whereof they reioyce, and are glad, ¹⁶ Therfore offre they vnto theyr net, and do sacryfyce vnto theyr yarne: because that thorowe it theyr porcyon is become so fat, & theyr meate so plenteous.

³² After all these thynges seke the gentils. For your heauenlye father knoweth that ye haue neade of all these thynges.

²³ Then Iesus sayd vnto his disciples: Verely I saye vnto you: it is harde for a riche man to enter into the kyngdom of heauen.

⁵⁷ When the euen was come, there came a riche man of Aramathia named Ioseph, which same also was Iesus disciple.

²⁴ And hys disciples were astonyed at his wordes. But Iesus answered agayne, and sayed vnto them: chyldren howe harde is it for them, that truste in rychesse, to enter into the kyngdome of God.

¹⁵ Wherfore, he sayde vnto them: take hede, and beware of coueteousnes. For no mannes lyfe standeth in the abundaunce of the thynges whiche he possesseth. ¹⁶ And he put forth a simylitude vnto them, sayinge. The grounde of a certayne ryche man brought forth frutes plenteouslye, ¹⁷ and he thoughte in hym selfe sayinge: what shall I do? because I haue no roume where to bestowe my frutes? ¹⁸ And he sayed: Thys will I do. I wyl destroy my barnes, and buylde greater, and therein wyll I gather all my frutes, and my goodes, ¹⁹ and I wyll saye to my soule: Soule thou hast muche goodes layde vp in store for many yeares: take thyne ease, eate, drinke, and be mery.

² And behold, ther was a man named Zacheus, which was a ruler amonge the Publicans, and was riche also.

⁹ And Iesus sayed to him: this daye is healthe come vnto thys house, for as muche as it also is become the chyld of Abraham. ¹⁰ For the sonne of man is come to seke, and to saue that which was loste.

¹⁷ Neuerthelesse he lefte not hym selfe without wytnes, in that he shewed hys benefytes, in geuynge vs rayne from heauen, and fruteful ceasons, fyllyng our hertes with fode and gladnes.

²⁷ When they were come & had gathered the congregation together, they rehearsed all that God had done by them, and how he had opened the dore of fayth to the gentyls.

²⁰ Thou sayeste well: because of vnbelefe they are broken of, & thou standest stedfaste in faythe.

⁵ For this ye knowe, that no whormonger, other vncleane persone, or couetous person, whyche is the worshypper of Images, hath anye inheritaunce in the kyngdome of Christe and of God.

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you plenteouslye in all wysdome. Teache and exhorte youre owne selues, in psalmes, and hymnes, and spirituall songes, whiche haue fauoure with them, singinge in your hertes to the Lorde.

⁹ For they them selues shewe of you, what maner of entering in we had vnto you, and howe ye turned vnto God from Images, for to serue the liuing and true God,

¹⁵ but and yf I tarye longe, that then thou mayeste yet haue knowledge howe thou oughtest to behaue thy selfe in the housse of God, whiche is the congregacyon of the lyuynge God, the pyllar & ground of trueth.

¹⁰ For therfore we laboure and suffer rebuke, because we beleue in the lyuyng God, whiche is the sauyoure of all men: but specyally of those that beleue.

¹² & teacheth vs that we shoulde denye vngodlynes & worldly lustes, and that we shoulde lyue sobre mynded ryghtuouslye and Godly in this present worlde,

⁶ which he shed on vs aboundauntly, thorowe Iesus Christe oure sauyoure,

⁹ Let the brother of low degre reioyce in that he is exalted, ¹⁰ and the ryche in that he is made lowe. For euen as the flower of the grasse, shal he vanysh away.

⁶ Reward her euen as she rewarded you, & geue her double accordinge to her workes. And youre in double to her in the same cuppe, which she fylled vnto you. ⁷ And as muche as she glorified her selfe and lyued wantonly, so muche poure ye in for her of punishment, & sorowe, for she said in her herte: I sytte being a quene and am no wydowe, and shall se no sorowe.

⁷ When one of thy brethren among you is waxed poore in any of thy cityes within thy land whych the Lord thy God geueth the, se that thou harden not thyne hert nor shet to thine hand from thy poore brother: ⁸ But open thyne hand vnto him & lende hym suffitiente for hys nede whych he hath. ⁹ And beware that there be not a poynt of Belial in thine hert, that thou wouldest say. The seuenth yere, the yere of fredome is at hand, & therfore it greues the to loke on thy poore brother and geuest hym nought & he then cry vnto the Lord againste the, and it be synne vnto the: ¹⁰ But giue him & let it not greue thine herte to giue. Bycause that for that thinge, the Lorde thy God shall blesse the in all thy workes & in all that thou puttest thyne hand to. ¹¹ For the land shall neuer be wythout pore. Wherfore I commaund the saying: open thine hand vnto thy brother that is neady and pore in thy land.

¹⁶ And they buryed him in the citie of Dauid amonge the kynges because he had done good in Israel, & on God and on his house.

³ Put thou thy trust in the Lorde, and be doyng good: so shalt thou dwel in the lande, & verely it shall fede the.

⁹ He hath sparsed abrode, and geuen to the poore, hys ryghtuousnes remayneth for euer his horne shalbe exealted with honoure

²⁴ Some man geueth out hys goodes, & is the rycher, but the nygard (hauyng ynough) will departe from nothynge, and yet is euer in pouerty. ²⁵ He that is liberal in geuyng, shal haue plentye: and he that watereth, shalbe watered also him self.

¹² So I perceiued, that in these thinges their is nothinge better for a man, then to be mery and to do wel so long as he liueth.

¹ Sende thy vyttuayls ouer the waters, and so shalt thou finde them after many yeares. ² Geue it awaye amonge seuen or eyghte, for thou knoweste not what mysery shall come vpon earth.

⁶ Cease not thou therefore with thy handes to sowe thy sede, whether it be in the mornynge or in the euenynge: for thou knoweste not whether this or that shall prospere, and if they both take, it is the better.

⁸ But the lyberall person ymagyneth honest thynges, and commeth vp with honestye.

⁷ It pleaseth not me, tyll thou deale thy breade to the hungry, and brynge the poore fatherlesse home into thy house, when thou seyste the naked that thou couer him, and hyde not thy face from thyne owne fleshe.

³³ And if ye do for them which do for you, what thanke are ye worthye of? For the verye synners do euen the same. ³⁴ If ye lende to them of whom ye hope to receiue, what thanke shall ye haue: for the very synners lende to synners to receiue much againe. ³⁵ Wherfore, loue ye your enemyes, do good and lende, lokinge for nothynge againe, and your rewarde shall be greate, and ye shalbe the children of the hyest for he is kinde vnto the vnkinde and to the euyll.

²¹ So is it with hym that gathereth ryches, and is not ryche in God.

¹² Then sayde he also to hym that had desyered hym to dyner. When thou makest a dyner or a supper: call not thy frendes, nor thy brethren, neyther thy kynsmen nor yet ryche neyghboures: least they byd the agayne, and a recompence be made the. ¹³ But when thou makest a feaste, call the poore the maymed, the lame, and the blynde, ¹⁴ & thou shalte be happy, for they can not recompence the. But thou shalte be recompensed at the resurreccyon of the iust men.

⁴⁴ And all that beleued kept them selues together, and had all thinges commen, ⁴⁵ and solde their possessions and goodes, and departed them to all men as euery man had nede.

³⁴ Neyther was there anye amonge them that lacked. For as manie as were possessours of landes and houses, sold them and broughte the price of the thinges, that were solde, ³⁵ and layed it doune at the Apostles fete. And distribution was made vnto euery man accordinge as he had nede. ³⁶ And Ioses who was also called of the Apostles Barnabas (that is to say the sonne of consolation) beynge a Leuite, and of the country of Cipers, ³⁷ had lande, and solde it, and laied the pryce doune at the Apostles fete.

³⁶ Ther was at Ioppa a certaine woman, (which was a disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Doreas) the same was ful of good workes and almes dedes, whiche she did.

³⁸ howe God had annoynted Iesus of Nazareth wyth the holy ghost, and wyth power. Whiche Iesus went about doynge good, and healinge all that were oppressed of the deuils for God was wyth him.

²⁹ Then the disciples euery man accordinge to his abilite, purposed to send succoure vnto the brethren, which dwelt in Iewry.

⁸ Let hym that exhorteth, geue attendaunce to hys exhortacyon. Yf any man geue, let hym do it with singlenes. Let him that ruleth do it with diligence. Yf anye man shew mercy let hym do it with cherfulnes.

¹³ Distribute vnto the necessitie of the Saynctes, and be diligente to harboure.

² Vpon some sonday let euerye one of you put a syde at home, and laye vp whatsoeuer he thinketh meate that there be no gatheringes when I come.

¹ I do you to wyt brethren, of the grace of God, which is geuen in the congregacyons of Macedonia, ² howe that the aboundaunce of theyr reioysynge is, that they are tryed with muche trybulacyon. And therto thoughe they were excedynge poore, yet haue they geuen excedynge richelye, and that in synglenesse.

⁹ Ye knowe the lyberalytie of oure Lorde Iesus Christe, whiche though he were ryche, yet for youre sakes became pore that ye thorowe hys pouertye myght be made ryche.

¹² For yf there be fyrste a wyllynge mynde, it is accepted accordyng to that a man hath, and not accordynge to that he hath not.

⁶ Thys yet remember, howe that he whiche soweth lyttell, shal reape lyttell, & he that soweth plentuously, shall reape plentuously. ⁷ And let euery man do accordyng as he hath purposed in hys hert, not groundgingly, or of necessitie. For God loueth a chearefull geuer. ⁸ God is able to make you ryche in al grace that ye in al thynges hauyng suffycyent vnto the vttermoste, maye be ryche vnto all maner good workes, ⁹ as it is wrytten. He that sparsed abroade, and hath geuen to the pore, hys ryghtuousnes, remayneth for euer. ¹⁰ He that fyndeth the sower seed, shall minister breade for fode, and shall multyplye your seede and increace the frutes of youre ryghtuousnes that on all partyes, ¹¹ ye maye be made riche in all synglenes, whiche causeth thorowe vs, thankes geuynge vnto God. ¹² For the offyce of thys ministracyon, not onelye supplyeth the neede of the saynctes: but also is aboundaunte herein, that for thys laudable mynystrynge, thankes myghte be geuen to God of many, ¹³ whiche prayse God for the obedience of youre professyng the Gospell of Christe, and for youre synglenes in distrybutynge to them and to all men, ¹⁴ and in theyr prayers to God for you, long after you, for the aboundaunce grace of God geuen vnto you. ¹⁵ Thankes be vnto God for hys vnspakeable gyfte.

¹⁰ Whyle we haue therfore tyme, let vs do good vnto all men, and specially vnto them which are of the houshold of faythe.

¹⁸ I receiued al, and haue plentie. I was euen fylled after that I had receyued of Epaphroditus, that which came from you, & odour that smelleth swete, a sacrifyce accepted and pleasaunt to God. ¹⁹ My God fulfill youre nedes thorowe hys gloriouse ryches in Iesus Christ.

¹⁴ whiche gaue hym selfe for vs, to redeme vs from al vnryghtuousnes and to pourge vs a peculyar people vnto him selfe, feruently geuen vnto good workes.

¹⁶ To do good, and to distrybute, forget not, for wt suche sacryfyces God is pleased.

⁵ Harken my deare beloued brethren. Hath not God chosen the pore of thys world, which are ryche in faythe, and heyres of the kyngedome whiche he promysed to them that loue hym?

¹⁷ Whosoeuer hath this worldes good, and seeth his brother haue nede, and shutteth vp his compassion from him, howe dwelleth the loue of God in hym?

¹¹ Beloued, folowe not that whiche is euyll, but that which is good. He that doth well, is of God, but he that doth euyl, seeth not God.

¹⁴ From the men of thy hande (O Lord) from the men of the worlde, which haue theyr porcion in this lyfe: whose bellyes thou fyllest with thy treasure. They haue chyldren at theyr desyre, and leaue the rest of of theyr substaunce for their babes.

²⁵ The vngodly is lyke a tempest that passeth ouer, and is no more sene but the rightuous remayneth sure for eue

²⁵ Ain. Strength and honour is her clothynge, & in the latter daye she shall reioyse.

¹⁹ Se that ye gater you not treasure vpon the earth, where ruste & mothes corrupte, & wher theues breake throughe & steale. ²⁰ But gather ye treasure together in heauen, where neither rust nor mothes corrupt, & where theues neyther breake vp nor yet steale. ²¹ For wher soeuer your treasur is, ther wyl your hertes be also.

⁴¹ He that receyueth a Prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receyue a prophetes reward. And he that receyueth a righteouse man in the name of a righteous man, shal receyue the rewarde of a righteous man. ⁴² And whosoeuer shall geue vnto one of these lytle ones to drinke, a cuppe of colde water only, in the name of a discypell: I tell you of a truthe, he shall not lose his rewarde.

²¹ And Iesus sayde vnto him, if thou wilt be perfecte go and sell that thou haste, and geue it to the poore, and thou shalt haue treasure in heauen, and come and folowe me.

³⁴ Then shal the kinge saye to them on his right hand. Come ye blessed chyldren of my father, enheryte ye the kingdome prepared for you from the begynninge of the worlde. ³⁵ For I was an hungred & ye gaue me meate. I thirsted and ye gaue me drinke. I was herbourles and ye lodged me. I was naked and ye clothed me. ³⁶ I was sycke and ye visyted me. I was in pryson and ye came vnto me. ³⁷ Then shal the rightuous aunswere him sayinge, maister, when sawe we the an houngred, & fede the, or a thyrst, & gaue the drinke ³⁸ when sawe we the herborles, and lodged the? or naked and clothed the? ³⁹ or when sawe we the syke or in pryson and came vnto the? ⁴⁰ And the kinge shall aunswere and saye vnto theym: verelye I saye vnto you: in as much as ye haue done it to one of the least of these my brethren, ye haue done it vnto me.

⁴⁸ He is lyke a man which builde an house and digged depe and layde the foundacion on a rocke. When the waters arose, the floud bet vpon that house, and coulde not moue it for it was grounded vpon a rocke. ⁴⁹ But he that heareth and doeth not, is lyke a man that without foundacion bylt an house vpon the earth, against which the floude dyd beate and it fell by and by, and the fall of that house was greate.

³³ Sell that ye haue, and geue almes. And make you bagges whiche were not old, and treasure that faileth not in heauen, where no these cometh, neyther mothe corrupteth.

⁹ And I saye also vnto you: make you frendes, of the wycked mammon, that when ye shall depart, they maye receyue you into euerlastynge habitacyons.

²⁵ But Abraham sayd vnto hym. Sonne, remembre that thou in thy lyfe tyme, receyuedest thy pleasure, and contrarywyse Lazarus payne. Nowe therfore is he conforted, and thou arte punyshed.

² saiynge. There was a Iudge in a certayne cytye, whiche feared not God, neyther regarded man.

²² When Iesus hearde that, he sayed vnto hym. Yet lackeste thou one thynge. Sell all that thou haste, and distrybute it vnto the poore, and thou shalt haue treasure in heauen, and come, & folowe me.

⁸ He that soweth in hys fleshe: shall of the fleshe reape corrupcion. But he that soweth in the spyryte, shall of the spyryte reape lyfe euerlastynge. ⁹ Let vs not be werye, of wel doynge. For when the tyme is come, we shall reape withoute werynes.

¹⁷ that Christ may dwell in your hertes by fayth, that ye beinge roted and grounded in loue,

¹⁴ and prease vnto the marke appointed, to obteine the reward of the high callinge of God in Christe Iesu.

¹⁹ But the sure grounde of God remayneth, and hath thys seale: the Lord knoweth them that are his, & let euerye man that calleth on the name of Christe departe from iniquitie.

⁴ to enioye an enherytaunce immortall & vndefyled, and that putryfyeth not, reserued in heauen for you,

¹⁸ Certayne Philosophers of the Epicures and of the Stoickes, disputed with him. And some there were, whiche sayed. What wyll this babler saye? Other said he semeth to be a tydynges brynger of newe deuyls, because he preached vnto them Iesus and the resurreccyon.

²¹ For all the Athenians and straungers which were there, gaue them selues nothynge els, but eyther to tell or to heare newe tydynges.

²² When they counted them selues wyse, they became foles,

² Surelye verye muche. Fyrste vnto them was commytted the word of God.

¹⁹ For it is written: I will destroye the wysdome of the wyse, and wyll caste awaye the vnderstandinge of the prudent. ²⁰ Where is the wyse? Where is the scribe? Where is the searcher of this worlde? ²¹ Hath not God made the wysdome of thys worlde folyshnes? For when the world thorough wysdome knewe not God, in the wisdom of God, it pleased God thorough folishnes of preachynge to saue them that beleue. ²² For the Iewes require a signe, and the Grekes seke after wisdom. ²³ But we preache Christe crucifyed vnto the Iewes an occasion of fallinge, and vnto the Grekes folishnes,

⁶ That we speake of, is wisdome amonge that are perfecte: not the wisdome of this world (whiche go to nought)

¹⁹ For the wysdome of this worlde is folyshnes wyth God. For it is wrytten: he compaseth the wyse in theyr craftynes.

⁸ Beware least anye man come and spoyle you thorowe philosophie and disceitful vanitie, thorowe the tradicions of men, and ordinaunces after the world, and not after Christ.

⁴ so that we oure selues reioyse of you in the congregacions of GOD ouer youre pacience and fayth in al youre persecucyons and trybulacyons that ye suffer,

¹⁵ Therfore brethren stande fast and kepe the ordinaunces which ye haue learned: whether it were by oure preachynge or by epistle.

⁷ But cast awaye vnghostly and olde wyues fables. Exercyse thy selfe vnto Godlynes.

⁴ he is puft vp, and knoweth nothyng: but wasteth hys braynes about questyons and stryfe of wordes, whereof sprynge enuye, stryfe, raylynges, euyll surmysynges ⁵ and vayne disputacyons of men wyth corrupte myndes, and destytute of the trueth, whiche thynke that lucre is Godlines, from suche separate thy self.

¹¹ But thou which arte the man of GOD, flye suche thynges. Folowe ryghtuousnes. Godlynes, loue, pacyence and mekenes.

¹⁴ that thou kepe the commaundement, and be wythout spot and vnrebukeable, vntyll the appearynge of our Lorde Iesus,

¹² for the whiche cause I also suffer these thinges. Neuerthelesse I am not ashamed. For I know whom I haue beleued, and am sure that he is able to kepe that whiche I haue commytted to hys kepyng, agaynst that daye. ¹³ Se thou haue the ensample of the holsome wordes, whiche thou heardest of me in faythe and loue whiche is in Iesus Christe. ¹⁴ That good thynge, whiche was commytted to thy kepynge, kepe in the holy ghoste which dwelleth in vs.

¹ Thou therfor my sonne, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Iesus.

¹⁶ Vnghostly and vayne voices passe ouer. For they shall encreace vnto greater vngodlynes,

¹⁴ But continue thou in the thynges whiche thou hast learned, which also were committed vnto the seyng thou knowest of whome thou hast learned them, ¹⁵ and for as muche also as thou haste knowen holy scrypture of a chyld, whiche is able to make the wyse vnto saluacion thorowe the fayth which is in Christ Iesu. ¹⁶ For al scripture geuen by inspyracion of God, is profytable to teache, to improue, to amende and to instruct in ryghtuousnes,

⁴ To Titus hys naturall sonne in the common fayth. Grace, mercy, and peace from God the father and from the Lorde Iesu Christe oure sauyoure.

¹⁴ and not takyng hede to Iewes fables and commaundementes of men that turne from the truethe.

⁷ To all you at Rome beloued of God, and sainctes by callynge Grace be wyth you and peace from God our father, and from our Lorde Iesus Christ.

²⁰ The God of peace treade Sathan vnder your fete shortelye. The grace of oure Lorde Iesu Christe be with you.

²³ Gayus myne hoste and the hoste of all the congregacion, saluteth you. Erastus the chamberlayne of the citie saluteth you. And Quartus a brother, saluteth you.

¹⁸ The salutation by the hande of me Paule. Remembre my bondes. Grace be with you Amen.

¹⁹ hauynge fayth and a good conscience whiche some haue put awaye from them and as concernyuge faythe, haue made shypwracke.

¹⁰ For couetousnes is the rote of all euyll, whiche whyle some lusted after, they erred from the faythe and tangled them selues wyth manye sorowes.

¹⁸ which as concernyng the truethe haue erred, saiynge that the resurreccyon is past alredy, and do destroye the fayth of diuers persons.

²² The Lorde Iesus Christ be with thy spyryte. Grace be with you. Amen.

¹⁵ All that are with me salute the. Grete them that loue vs in the faythe Grace be wt you all. AMEN.

¹ For the lawe whyche hath but the shadowe of good thinges to come, and not the thynges in theyr owne fashyon can neuer wyth the sacrifyces whych they offer yere by yere continuallly, make the commers thereunto perfect. ² For woulde not then those sacryfyces haue ceased to haue bene offered, because that the offerers once pourged shoulde haue had no more consciences of synnes? ³ Neuertheles in those sacryfyces is ther mencyon made of synnes euery yeare. ⁴ For it is vnpossyble that the bloude of oxen and of gotes shoulde take awaye synnes. ⁵ Wherfore, when he commeth into the world he sayth: Sacrifyce and offerynge thou wouldest not haue: but a body hast thou ordeyned me. ⁶ In sacryfyces and synne offerynges thou hast not luste. ⁷ Then I saide: Lo I come, in the cheyfest in the boke it is wrytten of me, that I should do thy wil, o God. ⁸ Aboue when he had sayd sacryfyce and offerynge, and burnte sacrifices and synne offerynges thou wouldest not haue, neither hast alowed (whyche yet are offered by the lawe) ⁹ and then sayd, Lo I come to do thy wyll, O God: he taketh awaye the fyrste to stablysshe the latter. ¹⁰ By the whiche wyll we are sanctyfyed, by the offerynge of the bodye of Ieu Christ once for all. ¹¹ And euery priest is redy daylie mynistring and ofte tymes offereth one maner of offerynge whyche can neuer take awaye synnes. ¹² But thys man after he had offered one sacryfyce for synnes, satte hym downe for euer on the right hande of God,

²⁵ Grace be wyth you all. AMEN.
