¹⁷ But they put not the hilaulters out of Israel: neuerthelesse the herte of Asa was pure in all his lyfe.

¹³ Take hede that thou offer not thy burntofferynges in whatsoeuer place thou seyste: ¹⁴ but in the place whych the Lorde shall haue chosen amonge one of thy trybes, there thou shalt offer thy burntofferynges & there thou shalt do al that I commaund the.

² Only the people sacrificed in aultares made on hylles, because there was no house built vnto the name of the lord, vntil those dayes. ³ And Salomon loued the Lorde, and walked in the ordinaunces of Dauid hys father, saue onlye that he sacrificed & offered incense vpon aultares in hylles. ⁴ And the king went to Gabaon, to offer there, for that was a great offering place. And there Salomon offered a thousand burntofferinges vpon the aultare.

⁴ For when Salomon was olde, hys wyues turned hys herte after other Goddes: so that hys herte was not perfecte wyth the Lorde hys God, as was the herte of Dauid hys father.

⁴³ And he walked in all the wayes of Asa hys father & bowed not therfrom. But dyd that was right in the eyes of the Lorde. Onlye he dyd not put the hilaulters out of the waye: for the people offered, and burnt their sacryfices yet in the hylaulters.

³ But they toke not awaye the hyllaultares, for the people slue & offered styll in the hyllaultares.

⁴ Nether toke they awaye the hyll aulters. But the people slue, & offered styll in the hylaulters.

³ & toke away the aulters of straungers and the hylaulters, & brake the ymages & cut doune the groues, ⁴ and commaunded Iuda to seke the Lorde God of their fathers, & to do accordyng to the lawe and commaundement. ⁵ And he put away oute of all the cyties of Iuda, the hylaulters and the ydolles: for the kyngedom was quiet before hym.

⁷ At that same tyme Hanani the sear, came to Asa kyng of Iuda & sayde to hym: because thou trustest in the king of Siria, and trustest not in the Lorde thy God therfore is the host of the kynge of Siria escaped oute of thyne hande. ⁸ Were not the blacke Mores, and they of Libya a great host wyth exceading many charettes and horsemen? And yet because thou trustedest in the Lorde, he delyuered them into thyne handes. ⁹ For the eyes of the Lorde beholde all the earthe, to strength the hertes of them that are hole with him. Herin thou hast done folyshly, and therfore from henceforth thou shalt haue warre. ¹⁰ Whervpon Asa was wrothe with the sear and put hym in the conuertynge house, for he was dyspleased wyth him because of that. Moreouer Aza oppressed certayne of the people the same ceason. ¹¹ The dedes of Aza bothe fyrst and last, are written in the boke of the kynges of Iuda & Israel. ¹² And the .xxxix. yeare of his raigne Asa fel sycke on hys fete, and that his disease exceaded. And therto in his sycknesse he asked no counsel of the Lorde, but of Physycyons.
