⁷ And the kyng of Israell sayde to Iehosaphat: there is yet one, to aske the Lorde by hym: But I hate him, for he neuer prophesyed me good, but alwaye euyll, one Micheah the sonne of Iemla. And Iehosaphat sayde: let not the kynge saye so.

⁴ in so muche that when Iezabel destroyed the Prophetes of the Lorde, he toke an hundred of the Prophetes and hyd them, fyftye in one caue, and fyftye in another, and prouyded breade and water for them.

¹⁷ And when Ahab sawe Eliah, he sayd vnto hym: art thou he that troubleth Israel?

¹⁰ And he answered: I haue bene thorow angry for the Lorde God of hostes sake. For the children of Israel haue forsake thy couenaunt, & haue broken doune thyne aultars and slayne the Prophetes with the swerde, and I onlye am lefte, and they seke my soule to haue it to.

⁴² And he sayde vnto the kinge: thus sayeth the Lorde: because thou hast let go a man, that ought to haue dyed, thy lyfe shal go for his lyfe, and thy people for hys. ⁴³ And the kynge of Israell went to hys house waywarde and heauy, and entred into Samaria.

²⁰ And Ahab sayd to Eliah: hast thou founde me thine enemy at any time? and he saide: ye, because thou art vtterly geuen to worcke wyckednesse in the syghte of the lord.

²² And when Iehoram sawe Iehu, he sayde: is it peace Iehu? And he sayde, what peace shulde there be, so longe as the whoredomes of thy mother Iezabel, and her witchcraftes are so great?

¹³ And Micheah sayde: as truly as the Lord lyueth, euen what my God sayeth, that wyl I speake.

²¹ But misfortune shall slaye the vngodly, & they that hate the righteous shalbe gylty.

³ The enemye cryeth so, and the vngodly commeth on so fast: for they are mynded too do me some mischief, so maliciously are they set agaynst me.

¹⁴ Take me out of the myre, that I sinke not Oh let me be deliuered from them that hate me, and out of the depe waters.

⁸ Reproue not a scorner, lest he owe the euel wil: but rebuke a wise man, & he wil loue the.

¹² The correction of the wise is to an obedient eare, a golden cheine & a Iewel of gold.

¹⁰ The bloude thyrstye hate the ryghtuous, but the iust seke his soule.

¹⁰ They darre saye to the Prophetes: Intromytte youre selues with nothynge, and vnto the Sothsayers: tell vs of nothynge for to come, but speake frendlye wordes vnto vs, & preache vs false thinges.

¹⁸ Then sayde they: come, let vs ymagyn smothynge agaynst this Ieremy. Yee thys dyd euen the prestes, to whom the lawe was commytted: the Senatours, that were the wysest, and the prophetes, whiche wanted not the worde of God. Come (sayde they) lett vs cut out hys tunge, & let vs not regarde his wordes.

⁴ Then sayd the princes vnto the king: Syr, we beseche you, let this man to be put to death: For thus he discoraged the handes of the soudyars that be in this cytie, & the handes of al the people, when he speaketh such wordes vnto them. This man verely laboureth not for peace of the people, but mischefe.

¹⁷ Thou sonne of man I haue made the a watchman vnto the house of Israell: therfore take good hede to the wordes, and geue them warnyng at my commaundement. ¹⁸ If I sayde vnto the, concernynge the vngodly man: that (wythout doute) he muste dye, and thou geuest hym not warnynge, ner speakest vnto hym, that he maye turne from hys euell waye, and so to lyue: Then shalll the same vngodly man dye in hys owne vnryghtuousnes: but hys bloude wyll I requyre of thyne hande. ¹⁹ Neuertheles, yf thou geue warnynge vnto the wycked, and he yet forsake not his vngodlynesse: then shall he dye in his owne wyckednesse, but thou hast discharged thy soule.

¹⁰ but they owe hym euill wil, that reproueth them openly, and who so telleth them the playn truth they abhorre hi

⁷ sayeth the house of Iacob. Is the sprete of the Lorde so cleane awaye? or is he so mynded? Trueth it is, my wordes are frendly vnto them that lyue right:

¹⁸ Ihon sayd vnto Herode: It is not lawful for the to haue thy brothers wyfe. ¹⁹ Herodias layed wayte for him, and woulde haue killed him, but she could not.

²⁷ And immediatly the kynge sent the hang man, and commaunded his headde to be brought in. And he went and beheaded hym in the pryson,

²² Blessed are ye when men hate you, and thruste you out of their companye, and rayle, & abhorre youre name as an euill thinge, for the sonne of mans sake.

⁷ The worlde can not hate you. But me it hateth: because I testifye of it, that the workes of it are euyll.

¹⁸ Yf the worlde hate you, ye knowe that it hated me before it hated you. ¹⁹ Yf ye were of the worlde, the worlde woulde loue his owne. Howe be it because ye are not of the worlde, but I haue chosen you out of the worlde, therfore hateth you the worlde.

²⁴ If I had not done workes among them which none other man dyd, they had not had synne. But now haue they sene, & yet haue hated both me & my father:

²⁶ Wherfore I take you to recorde this same daye that I am pure from the bloud of all men. ²⁷ For I haue kept nothynge backe, but haue shewed you all the counsell of God.

¹⁶ Am I therfore become your enemye, because I tell you the truth?
