¹ In the beginnynge GOD created heauen and erth. ² The erth was voyde and empty, and darcknesse was vpon the depe, and the spirite of God moued vpon the water. ³ Than God sayd: let there be light: & there was lyght. ⁴ And God sawe the lyght that it was good: & deuyded the lyght from the darcknesse, ⁵ & called the lyght the daye, & the darcknesse the nyght: and so of the euenyng & mornyng was made the fyrst daye. ⁶ And God sayde: let there be a fyrmament betwene the waters, & let it deuyde the waters a sonder. ⁷ Than God made the fyrmament, and parted the waters whyche were vnder the fyrmament, from the waters that were aboue the fyrmament: And it was so. ⁸ And God called the fyrmament Heauen. And God sawe that it was good, ¹³ and then of the euenyng and mornyng was made the thyrde daye. ¹⁴ Than sayde God: let there be lightes in the fyrmament of heauen, to deuyde the day from the nyght, that they may be vnto sygnes, seasons, dayes and yeares. ¹⁵ And let them be lyghtes in the fyrmament of heauen, to shyne vpon the erth: And so it was. ¹⁶ And God made two greate lyghtes: A greater lyght to rule the daye, and a lesse lyght to rule the nyght: and he made sterres also. ¹⁷ And God put them in the fyrmament of heauen to shyne vpon the erth, ¹⁸ and to rule the daye and the nyght: and to deuyde the lyght from darcknesse. And God sawe that it was good: ¹⁹ & so of the euenyng & mornyng was made the fourth day. ²⁰ And God said: let the water bryng forth creatures that moue and haue lyfe, & foules for to flye ouer the erth vnder the fyrmament of heauen. ²¹ And God created greate whalles and al maner of creatures that lyue & moue, whych the waters brought forth in their kyndes, & all maner of fethered foules in theyr kyndes. And God sawe that it was good: ²² & God blessed them sayinge: Growe and multyplie and fyll the waters of the seas: and let the foules multyplye vpon the erth. ²³ And so of the euening & morning was made the fyfth day. ²⁴ And God sayd: let the erth brynge forth lyuynge creatures in their kyndes: catell and wormes & beastes of the erth in their kyndes, & so it came to passe. ²⁵ And God made the beastes of the erth in their kyndes, and catell in their kyndes, & al maner wormes of the erth in their kyndes: & God saw that it was good. ²⁶ And God sayde: let vs make man in oure similitude & after our lycknesse: that he may haue rule ouer the fysh of the sea, and ouer the foules of the ayre, & ouer catell, and ouer all the erth, and ouer all wormes that crepe on the erth. ²⁷ And God created man after hys likenes, after the lycknesse of god created he hym: male & female created he them. ²⁸ And God blessed them, & God sayde vnto them: Growe and multiplye & fyl the erth, & subdue it, & haue dominion ouer the fyshes of the sea, and ouer the foules of the ayre, and ouer al the beastes that moue on the erth. ²⁹ And God sayde: see, I haue geuen you al herbes that sowe seed, whyche are on all the erth, & all maner trees that haue frute in them and sowe seed: to be meate for you ³⁰ and for al beastes of the erth, and vnto all foules of the ayre, and vnto all that crepeth on the erth, where in is lyfe, that they maye haue all maner herbes and grasse for to eate, and euen so it was. ³¹ And God behelde all that he had made, and loo, they were exceadinge good: & so of the euenynge and mornyng was made the syxte daye.

¹¹ For in sixe dayes the Lord made both heauen & earth & the sea & all that in them is and rested the seuenth day: wherfore the Lord blessed the Sabbath daye and halowed it.

¹⁸ And when he had made an ende of commenyng wyth Moses vpon the mount Sinai he gaue hym two tables of witnesse: which were of stone and written with the fynger of God.

²⁶ For al the Gods of the Heathen are Idoles. But the Lorde made heauen.

⁶ Lorde, thou alone haste made heauen, & the heauen of al heauens, with all theyr host the earth & all that is therein, the sea and all that is therein: thou geuest lyfe vnto all, & the host of heauen bowe them selues vnto the.

¹³ Wyth his spirites hath he garnisshed the heauens, & with his hand hath he wounded the rebellious serpent.

⁴ Where wast thou, when I layde the foundacyons of the earth? Tel planely yf thou hast vnderstandyng.

³ For I considre thy heauens, euen the worke of thy fingers: the moone & the starres which thou hast made.

⁶ By the worde of the Lorde were the heauens made, and all the hoostes of theym by the breth of hys mouth.

⁹ For loke what he sayeth, it is done: and loke what he commaundeth, it standeth fast.

¹¹ The heauens are thine, the earth is thine: thou hast layed the foundation of the rounde world, and al that therin is. ¹² Thou hast made the north and the south, Tabor and Hermon shal reioyse in thy name

² Before the mountaines were broughte forthe, or euer the earthe and the worlde were made, thou art God from euerlastynge and worlde without ende.

⁵ As for all the goddes of the Heathen, they be but Idols, but it is the Lorde that made the heauens.

²⁵ Thou Lorde in the beginnyng hast layed the foundacion of the earth, and the heauens are the workes of thy handes.

²⁴ O Lord, how manifolde are thy workes, right wisely hast thou made them al: yea, the earth is full of thy ryches.

³⁰ Agayne, when thou lettest thy brethe goo forth, they are made, and so thou renuest the face of the earth.

¹⁵ For ye are the blessed of the Lord, whych made heauen and earth.

² My helpe commeth euen from the Lord which hath made heauen and earth.

⁸ Oure helpe standeth in the name of the Lord, which hath made heauen and earth.

⁴ Prayse hym all ye heauens, and ye waters that be vnder the heauens. ⁵ Let them prayse the name of the Lorde, for he commaunded, and they were made.

¹⁹ With wysdome hath the Lorde layed the foundacion of the earth, & thorow vnderstanding hath he stablished the heauens.

²² The Lord hym self had me in possession in the begynning of hys wayes, or euer he beganne hys workes afore tyme. ²³ I haue bene ordeyned from euerlasting, & from the beginning or euer the earthe was made. ²⁴ When I was borne, there were nether depthes nor springs of water. ²⁵ Before the foundacions of the mountaynes were layed, yea, before al hylles was I borne. ²⁶ The earth & all that is vpon the earth was not yet made, no not the grounde it selfe. ²⁷ For when he made the heauens, I was present: when he sette vp the depthes in ordre: ²⁸ when he hanged the cloudes aboue: when he fastened the sprynges of the depe: ²⁹ When he shut the sea within certayn boundes, that the waters should not go ouer their markes. When he layed the foundacions of the earth ³⁰ I was with hym, ordering all thinges, delytynge dayly, and reioysinge all waye before hym.

⁴ The Lorde doth al thynges for hys owne sake, yea when he kepeth the vngodly for the day of wrath.

¹ Remembre thy maker in thy youth, or euer the dayes of aduersitie come, and or the yeares drawe nye, when thou shalt saye: I haue no pleasure in them

¹⁶ O Lorde of Hostes, thou God of Israel, which dwellest vpon Cherubyn. Thou art the God, that only is God of all the Kyngdomes of the world, for thou only hast created heauen & earth.

²⁶ Lyft vp youre eyes on hye, and consydre. Who hath made those thynges, whyche come out by so greate heapes? And he can call them all by their names. For there is nothynge hyd vnto the greatnesse of his power, strength, and myght.

²⁸ Knowest thou not, or hast thou not hearde, that the euerlastynge God the Lorde whiche made all the corners of the earth, is nether weery nor faynt, & that his wysdome can not be comprehended,

⁵ For thus sayeth God the Lord vnto hym (euen he that the made heauens, and spred them abrode & seth forth the earth with her increase, whych geueth breath vnto the people that is in it, & to them that dwell therin)

²⁴ For thus sayth the Lorde thy redemer euen he that fashioned the from thy mothers wombe: I am the Lorde, whiche do all thinges my selfe alone. I onlye haue spred oute the heauens and I only haue layde the foundacyon of the earth.

¹⁸ For thus sayeth the Lorde: euen he that created heauen, the God that made the earth, that fashioned it, & sett it forth: I haue not made it for naught, but I made it to be enhabited Euen I the Lorde, wythout whom there is none other.

¹³ And forgettest the Lord that made the, that spred oute the heauens, & layde the foundacyon of the earthe. But thou arte euer afrayde for the syght of thyne oppressour whiche is ready to do harme: Where is the wrath of the oppressoure?

¹⁶ I shall put my worde also in thy mouth, & defende the with the turninge of my hande: that thou mayest plante the heauens, and laye the foundacyns of the earth, and saye vnto Sion: thou arte my people.

¹⁷ For lo, I shall make a newe heauen, and a newe earthe. And as for the olde, they shall neuer be thought vpon, nor kept in minde:

¹² But (as for oure God) he made the earth with his power, and with hys wysdom hath he fynished the whole compasse of the worlde, wyth hys discrecion hath he spred oute the heauens.

¹⁷ O Lorde God, it is thou that hast made heauen and earthe wyth thy greate power, and hye arme, and there is nothinge to harde for the.

¹⁵ Yea euen the Lorde of hostes, that wyth his power made the earthe, with hys wysedome prepared the rounde worlde, and with his discrecyon spred oute the heauens.

¹ The heauy burthen which the lord hath deuised for Israel. Thus saieth the lord, which spred the heauens abroade, layde the foundacyon of the earth, and geueth man the breath of lyfe:

²⁵ At that time Iesus aunswered and said: I prayse the, O father Lorde of heauen and earth, because thou hast hid these thinges from the wyse and prudent, and hast opened theim vnto babes:

¹⁹ For there shalbe in those dayes such trybulacyon, as was not from the beginning of creatures whiche God created, vnto thys time, neyther shalbe.

¹ In the begynnynge was the worde, and the word was with God, & the worde was God. ² The same was in the begynnynge wyth God. ³ All thynges were made by it and without it was made nothynge that was made.

²⁴ And when they hearde that, they lifte vp their voices to God with one accorde, and saied: Lorde, thou art God, whiche haste made heauen and earth, the sea and al that in them is,

¹⁵ and saiynge: Syrs why do ye thys? We are mortall men lyke vnto you, and preache vnto you, that ye shoulde turne from these vanities vnto the liuynge God, which made heauen and earthe and the sea, and all that in them is:

²⁴ God that made the worlde, and all that are in it, seynge that he is Lorde of heauen and earth, he dwelleth not in temples made with handes, neyther is worshypped wt mennes handes,

¹⁹ saiyng: what maye be knowen of God, that same is manifest amonge them. For God dyd shewe it vnto them. ²⁰ So that his inuisible thinges, that is to saye, hys eternall power and Godhead, are vnderstand & sene by the workes from the creation of the worlde. So that they are wythout excuse,

³⁶ For of hym, and thorowe hym, and for hym, are all thynges. To hym be glorye for euer. Amen

⁶ yet vnto vs is there but one God, whiche is the father, of whom are al thinges, and we in him: and one Lorde Iesus Christ, by whom are all thinges, and we by hym.

⁹ and to make all men se what the fellowshyp of the mysterye is, whiche from the beginninge of the worlde hath bene hyde in God, whiche made all thinges thorowe Iesus Christ,

¹⁶ For by hym were all thynges created, thinges that are in heauen, and thinges that are in earth: thinges visible and thinges inuisible, whether they be maiestye or Lordeshyp, eyther rule or power. Al thynges are created by hym and in hym, ¹⁷ and he is before all thinges, and in hym all thinges haue theyr beynge.

² but in these laste dayes he hath spoken vnto vs by hys sonne, whom he hath made heyre of all thynges, by whom also he made the worlde.

¹⁰ And thou Lorde in the beginninge hast layed the foundacion of the earth. And the heauens are the workes of thy handes.

⁴ Euery house is prepared of some man. But he that ordeyned al thinges is God.

³ Thorow faythe we vnderstande that the worlde was ordeyned by the worde of God: and that thinges whiche are sene, were made of thynges whiche are not sene.

⁵ This they knowe not (and that willinglie) howe that the heauens a greate whyle ago were, & the earth that was in the water, appered vp out of the water by the worde of God,

¹ That whyche was from the begynninge, whyche we haue hearde, whyche we haue sene with oure eyes, which we haue loked vpon and our handes haue handeled, of the word of the lyfe.

¹⁴ And vnto the messenger of the congregacion, which is in Laodicia wryte: Thys sayth (Amen) the faythful and true wytnes, the beginninge of the creatures of God.

¹¹ thou art worthy Lorde to receiue glory and honour and power, for thou hast created al thinges, and for thy wylles sake they are and were created.

⁶ and swore by hym that lyueth for euer more, whiche created heauen, and the thynges that therin are, and the sea, and the thynges whyche therin are: that there shoulde be no longer tyme,

⁷ sayinge with a loude voice: Feare God, & geue honoure to him, for the houre of his iudgemente is come, and worshyp hym, that made heauen and earth & the sea, & fountaynes of water.

⁶ And he said vnto me: it is done, I am Alpha & Omega, the beginning & the ende. I will geue to hym that is a thyrst of the wel of the water of lyfe free.

¹³ I am Alpha & Omega, the beginnynge and the ende: the fyrst & the laste.

⁷ He stretched oute the north ouer the emptie, & hangeth the earth vpon nothinge.

¹⁴ This is nowe a short summe of his doynges. But who is able sufficiently to rehearse his workes? Who can perceyue and vnderstand the thondre of his power?

¹² Who hath holden the waters in hys fyst? Who hath measured heauen with his spanne, and hath comprehended all the earth of the worlde in thre fyngers? Who hath weyed the mountaynes and hylles? ¹³ Who hath refourmed the mynde of the Lord? Or who is of hys councell to teach him? ¹⁴ At whom hath he asked councell, to make hym vnderstand, and to lerne hym the waye of iudgment: to teach him science: and to enstructe hym in the waye of vnderstandynge.

²³ I haue loked vpon the earth, and se it is waste, and voyde. I loked toward heauen, and it had no shyne.

¹⁰ Thus muste she be spoyled, emptied and clene striped out: that their hertes maye be melted awaye, their knees tremble, all their loynes be weake, and their faces blacke as a pot.

³⁰ and cause hys lyght to shyne vpon them: and to couer the botome of the sea.

¹⁹ then shewe me where lyght dwelleth, & where darcknes is:

¹¹ There is sprong vp a lighte for the ryghteous, and a ioyfull gladnesse for suche as be true herted.

² Thou deckest thy self with light, as it were with a garment, thou spredest out the heauen lyke a curtayne.

²⁷ God is the lord, and hath shewed vs light O garnysh the solempne feaste wyth grene braunches, euen vnto the hornes of the aulter.

⁵ Let them prayse the name of the Lorde, for he commaunded, and they were made.

⁷ It is I that created the lyght and darcknes, I make peace & trouble yee euen I the Lorde do all these thinges.

¹⁹ The Sunne shall neuer be thy day lyght, and the light of the Mone shal neuer shyne vnto the, but the Lorde hym selfe shalbe thyne euerlasting lyght, and thy God shalbe thy glory.

³ And Iesus put forthe his hand & touched him, saiyng: I will, be thou cleane, & immediatly his leprosye was clensed.

⁵ & the lyght shyneth in the darknes, but the darknes comprehended it not.

⁹ That was a true lyght, which lyghted all men that come into the worlde.

¹⁹ And this is the condempnacion, that light is come into the worlde, and the men loued darknes more then lyght, because their dedes were euyll.

⁴³ And when he thus had spoken: he cryed wt a loude voyce: Lazarus come forth.

⁶ For it is God that commaunded the lighte to shyne out of darknes, whiche hath shyned in oure hertes, for to geue the lyghte of the knoweledge of the glorye of God, in the face of Iesus Christe.

⁸ Ye were ones darckenes, but are nowe lyghte in the Lorde. Walke as chyldren of lyghte.

¹⁴ Wherfore he sayth: awake thou that slepest, and stand vp from death, and Christ shall geue the lyght.

¹⁶ whiche onelye hath immortalitie, and dwelleth in lyght that no man can attayne, whome neuer man sawe, neyther can se, to whom be honoure and rule euerlastynge. Amen.

⁵ And this is the tydinges that we haue heard of him, and declare vnto you, that God is lyghte and in him is no darckenes at al,

⁸ The olde commandement is the word, which ye heard from the beginninge. Againe a new commaundement I write vnto you, a thinge that is true in him, and also in you, for the darkenes is past, and the true light now shineth.

¹⁰ And GOD called the drye lande the erth, and the gatheryng together of waters called he the sea. And God sawe that it was good.

¹² And the erth brought forth herbe and grasse sowing seed euery one in hys kynde, and trees berynge frute, and hauynge theyr seed in themselues, euery one in hys kynde. And God sawe that it was good,

¹⁸ and to rule the daye and the nyght: and to deuyde the lyght from darcknesse. And God sawe that it was good:

²⁵ And God made the beastes of the erth in their kyndes, and catell in their kyndes, & al maner wormes of the erth in their kyndes: & God saw that it was good.

³¹ And God behelde all that he had made, and loo, they were exceadinge good: & so of the euenynge and mornyng was made the syxte daye.

¹³ and I saw that wysdome excelleth folishnesse, as farre as lyght doth darcknesse.

⁷ The lyghte is swete, and a pleasaunte thinge is it for the eyes to loke vpon the Sunne.

⁸ And God called the fyrmament Heauen. And so of the euenynge and mornyng was made the seconde daye.

¹³ and then of the euenyng and mornyng was made the thyrde daye.

¹⁹ & so of the euenyng & mornyng was made the fourth day.

²³ And so of the euening & morning was made the fyfth day.

²² Neyther shal sowynge time and heruest, cold and hete, somer, and wynter, daye and nyghte ceasse, as longe as the earth endureth.

² One daye telleth another, and one nyght certifyeth another.

¹⁶ The daye is thyne, and the nyght is thine thou hast prepared the lightes and the sunne.

²⁰ Thou makest darkenesse, that it maye be night, wherin all the beastes of the forest do moue.

²⁰ Thus sayeth the lord: May the couenaunt whiche I haue made wt daye and night be broken, that there shoulde not be day and night in due season?

¹³ euerye mans worke shall appeare. For the daye shal declare it, & it shalbe shewed in fyre. And the fyre shall trye euery mannes worke, what it is.

¹³ but all thinges, when they are rebuked of the lyghte are manifeste. For what soeuer is manifeste, that same is lyght.

⁵ Ye are all the chyldren of lyght and the chyldren of the daye. We are not of the nyghte neither of darckenes.

¹⁴ Than sayde God: let there be lightes in the fyrmament of heauen, to deuyde the day from the nyght, that they may be vnto sygnes, seasons, dayes and yeares.

²⁰ And God said: let the water bryng forth creatures that moue and haue lyfe, & foules for to flye ouer the erth vnder the fyrmament of heauen.

¹¹ In the .vi. hundred yere of Noes lyfe, in the seconde moneth, in the .xvij. daye of the moneth, that same day were al the founteynes of the great depe broken vp, & the wyndowes of heauen were opened, ¹² & there fel a rayne vpon the erth .xl. dayes & .xl. nyghtes.

⁷ He stretched oute the north ouer the emptie, & hangeth the earth vpon nothinge. ⁸ He bindeth the water in hys cloudes, that they fall not doune together.

¹¹ The cloudes do theyr laboure in geuyng moystnes, the cloudes poure doune theyr rayne.

¹⁸ Hast thou helped him to spreade oute the heauen, which is to loke vpon, as it were cast of cleare metall?

²² Wentest thou euer into the threasuryes of the snowe, or haste thou sene the secrete places of the hayle, ²³ whiche I haue prepared agaynst the tyme of trouble, agaynste the tyme of battell and warre? ²⁴ By what waye is the lyghte parted, and the heate dealte oute vpon the earth? ²⁵ Who deuydeth the aboundaunce of waters into ryuers, or who maketh a waye for the stormye wether, ²⁶ that it watereth & moystureth the drye and baren grounde,

¹ To the chaunter, a Psalm of Dauid. The very heauens declare the glory of God, and the very firmament sheweth his handy worcke.

⁵ Which by hys wisdome made the heauens for his mercy endureth for euer. ⁶ Which layed out the earth aboue the waters, for his mercy endureth for euer.

⁴ Prayse hym all ye heauens, and ye waters that be vnder the heauens.

¹ Prayse the euerlastyng. O prayse the Lord in his Sanctuary, prayse hym in the fyrmament of hys power.

³ When the cloudes are full, they poure oute rayne vpon the earthe. And when the tree falleth (whether it be towarde the South or North) in what place soeuer it fall, there it lyeth.

¹⁰ But the Lorde is a true God, a lyuynge God, and an euerlastinge kyng. Yf he be wroth, the earthe shaketh: all the Gentiles maye not abyde his indygnacyon.

¹² But (as for oure God) he made the earth with his power, and with hys wysdom hath he fynished the whole compasse of the worlde, wyth hys discrecion hath he spred oute the heauens. ¹³ At his voyce the waters gather together in the ayre, he draweth vp the cloudes from the vttermoste partes of the earth: he turneth lyghtenyng to rayne, & bryngeth forth the windes oute of theyr treasures:

⁹ And God sayde: let the waters that are vnder heauen gather them selues vnto one place, that the drye lande may appere. And it came so to passe.

¹¹ And God sayde: let the erth brynge forth herbe and grasse that sowe seed, and fruteful trees, that bere frute euery one in his kynde, hauyng their seed in them selues vpon the erth. And it came so to passe.

⁸ Who shut the sea with dores, when it brake forth as a chyld oute of his mothers wombe? ⁹ When I made the cloudes to be a coueryng for it, & swadled it wyth the darcke? ¹⁰ when I gaue it my commaundement, makynge dores & barres for it, ¹¹ saying: Hytherto shalt thou come, but no forther, & here shalte thou laye doune thy proude & hye waues.

¹⁰ Thou causest the welles to sprynge vp amonge the valleys, and the waters to runne amonge the hylles.

²⁸ when he hanged the cloudes aboue: when he fastened the sprynges of the depe: ²⁹ When he shut the sea within certayn boundes, that the waters should not go ouer their markes. When he layed the foundacions of the earth

²⁷ And the men maruayled and sayed: what man is this, that both wyndes and sea obey hym?

⁵ & called the lyght the daye, & the darcknesse the nyght: and so of the euenyng & mornyng was made the fyrst daye.

² Male & female made he them, & called their names man, in the day when they were created.

¹⁰ He hath compaseth the waters wt certayne boundes, vntill the day and night come to an ende.

¹ A Psalme of Dauid. The earth is the Lordes, & all that therin is: the compase of the world, & al that dwell therein. ² For he hath founded it vpon the seas, and buylded it vpon the floudes.

⁷ He gathereth the waters together as it were in a bottell, and layeth vp the depe in secret.

⁵ The sea is his, for he made it, & his handes prepared the drye lande.

³ Thou voltest it aboue with waters, thou makest the cloudes thy charet, & goest vpon the wynges of the wynde.

⁵ Thou hast layed the earth vpon her foundacion, that it neuer moueth at any tyme. ⁶ Thou couerest it with the depe lyke as wt a garmente, so that the waters stande aboue the hylles. ⁷ But at thy rebuke they fle, at the voyce of thy thonder they are afrayed. ⁸ (Then are the hylles sene alofte, and the valleis beneth in their place which thou hast appoynted for them.) ⁹ Thou hast set them their boundes, which they maye not passe, that they turne not agayne to couer the earth.

⁷ All floudes runne into the sea, & yet the sea is not filled: for loke vnto what place the waters runne, thence they come agayn.

²² Feare ye not me, sayeth the Lorde? Are ye not ashamed, to loke me in the face? which bynde the sea wyth the sande, so that it can not passe hys boundes: For thoughe it rage, yet can it do nothynge, and thoughe the waues thereof do swell, yet maye they not go ouer.

⁹ He answered them: I am an Ebreue, and I feare the Lorde God of heauen, whych made both the sea & drye lande.

⁴ And God sawe the lyght that it was good: & deuyded the lyght from the darcknesse,

⁴ He is a rocke and perfect are his dedes for al hys wayes are with descrecion. God is faythful, & without wyckednes, both ryghtuouse and iust is he.

³¹ The glorious maiesty of the Lorde endureth for euer, & the Lorde reioyseth in hys workes.

²⁹ And God sayde: see, I haue geuen you al herbes that sowe seed, whyche are on all the erth, & all maner trees that haue frute in them and sowe seed: to be meate for you

⁵ and all the shrubbes of the felde before they were in the erth. And al the herbes of the felde before they sprange, for the Lord God had yet sent no rayne vpon the erth, nether was there yet any man to tylle the erth.

⁹ And the Lord god made to sprynge out of the erth, all maner trees bewtyfull to the syght and pleasant to eate, and the tree of lyfe in the myddes of the garden: and also the tree of knowledge of good and euell.

¹⁶ And the Lord God commaunded Adam saying: Of all the trees of the garden se thou eate:

⁵ He bryngeth foode out of the earthe, & that whiche is vnder consumeth he with fyre.

³ Suche a man is lyke a tree planted by the watersyde, that bringeth forthe hys frute in due season. His leaues shall not fall af, & loke whatsoeuer he doth, it shall prospere.

⁹ Thou visitest the earth, thou waterest it. and makest it very plenteous. The riuer of god is ful of waters, thou preparest man hys corne, and thus thou prouydeste for the earth. ¹⁰ Thou waters, her forowes, thou breakest the harde clottes thereof, thou makest it softe with the droppes of rayne, and blessest the increase of it. ¹¹ Thou crownest the yeare wyth thy good and thy fotsteppes droppe fatnesse. ¹² The dwellinges of the wildernes are fat also, that they droppe wyth all: and the lytle hylles are pleasaunt on euerye syde. ¹³ The foldes are full of shepe, the valleyes stande so thicke with corne that they laughe and synge.

¹⁴ Thou bringest forth grasse for the cattell, and grene herbes for the seruice of men. Thou bringest fode out of the earth: ¹⁵ wyne to make glad the herte of man, oyle to make hym a chearfull countenaunce and bread to strength mans herte. ¹⁶ The trees of the Lord are ful of sappe, euen the trees of Libamis whiche he hathe planted. ¹⁷ There make the byrdes their nestes, & the fyrre hylles are a dwellyng for the storke.

⁸ Which couereth the heauen wyth cloudes, prepareth rayn for the earth, & maketh the grasse to growe vpon the mountaynes.

⁸ For he shalbe as a tre, that is planted by the water syde: which spredeth out the rote vnto moystness, whom the heate can not harme, when it commeth, but his leaues are grene. And though there growe but lytle frute because of drouth, yet is he not carefull, but he neuer leaueth of to brynge forth fruite.

¹⁰ Euen now is the axe put vnto the rote of the trees: so that euerye tre which bringeth not forth good fruit, is hewen doun & cast into the fire.

³⁰ Wherfore if God so clothe the grasse, which is to day in the felde, and to morowe shall be cast in to the fournace: shall he not much more do the same vnto you, o ye of lytle fayth?

¹⁶ Ye shall knowe them by their fruites. Do men gaddre grapes of thornes? or figges of bryers? ¹⁷ Euen so euery good tre bryngeth forth good fruite. But a corrupt tree, bringeth forth euyll fruyte. ¹⁸ A good tree can not bringe forthe bad fruyte: nor yet a bad tree can bringe forth good fruite. ¹⁹ Euery tree that bryngeth not forthe good fruite shalbe hewen downe, and cast into the fyre. ²⁰ Wherfore by theyr fruytes ye shal knowe them.

²⁸ For the earth bryngeth forth frute of her selfe: fyrst the blade, then the eares, after that full corne in the eares.

⁴³ It is not a good tre that bryngeth forth euyll frute: neither is that au euil tre that bringeth forth good frute. ⁴⁴ For euery tre is knowen by his fruite. Neyther of thornes gather men fygges, nor of bushes gather they grapes.

⁷ For that earthe whiche drincketh in the rayne whiche commeth ofte vpon it, and bryngeth forth herbes mete for them that dresse it, receyueth blessynge of God.

¹² Can the fygge tree, my Brethren, beare olyue beryes: other a vyne beare fygges?

¹⁰ And lyke as the rayne & snowe commeth doune from heauen, & returneth not thyther agayne, but watereth the earthe, maketh it frutefull and grene, that it maye geue corne and breade vnto the sower: ¹¹ So the worde also that commeth oute of my mouthe shall not turne agayne voyde vnto me, but shall accomplysh my wil & prospere in the thinge, whereto I sende it.

¹¹ For lyke as the ground bringeth forth frute, & as the garden shuteth forth sede. So shall the Lorde God cause ryghteousnesses, and the feare of God to floryshe forthe before all the Heathen.

²⁴ Another similitude put he forth vnto them saying: The kyngedom of heauen is lyke vnto a man whiche sowed good seede in hys felde. ²⁵ But whyle men slept there came hys foo and sowed tares amonge the wheate, and went hys waye. ²⁶ When the blade was spronge vp, and had brought forth frute, then apeared the tares also.

⁴⁴ For euery tre is knowen by his fruite. Neyther of thornes gather men fygges, nor of bushes gather they grapes.

¹⁰ He that fyndeth the sower seed, shall minister breade for fode, and shall multyplye your seede and increace the frutes of youre ryghtuousnes that on all partyes,

⁷ Be not deceyued, God is not mocked. For what soeuer a man soweth, that shal he reape.

¹³ I wyll set my bowe in the cloudes, & it shall be a sygne of the appointment made betwene me & the earth:

¹⁹ Yea, & least thou lyfte vp thyne eye vnto heauen, & when thou seist the sunne and the mone and the starres and whatsoeuer is contained in heauen, shouldest be deceyued and shouldest bowe thy selfe to them and serue the thynges whych the Lord thy God hathe distributed vnto all nations that are vnder al quarters of heauen.

⁹ Let the starres be dymme thorow darcknesse of it. Let it loke for lyght, but let it se none, nether the rysyng vp of the fayre mornynge,

³ whose men of warre are innumerable, & whose light aryseth ouer all.

⁵ Beholde, the mone shyneth nothinge in comparison to him, and the starres are vncleane in his sight.

¹² Haste thou geuen the mornyng his charge (as sone as thou wast borne) and shewed the daye sprynge his place, ¹³ that it might take holde of the corners of the earthe, & that the vngodlye myght be shaken out? ¹⁴ Theyr tokens & weapons haste thou turned lyke claye & set them vp agayne as the chaunginge of a garment.

³¹ Haste thou brought the .vij. starres together? Or art thou able to breake the circle of heauen? ³² Canst thou brynge forth the mornynge starre or the euenyng starre at conuenyente tyme, & conueye them home agayne?

³ For I considre thy heauens, euen the worke of thy fingers: the moone & the starres which thou hast made. ⁴ Oh what is man, that thou art so myndfull of hym? either the sonne of man that thou visitest hym?

¹ To the chaunter, a Psalm of Dauid. The very heauens declare the glory of God, and the very firmament sheweth his handy worcke. ² One daye telleth another, and one nyght certifyeth another. ³ There is neyther speach ner language, but their voices are hard among them. ⁴ Their sounde is gone oute into all landes, and their wordes into the endes of the worlde. ⁵ In them hathe he sette a tabernacle for the Sunne, whych commeth forthe as a brydegrome out of his chamber, and reioyseth as a giaunt to runne his course. ⁶ It goeth forth from the one ende of the heauen, and runneth aboute vnto the same ende agayne, and there maye no man hyde hym selfe from the heate therof.

¹⁶ The daye is thyne, and the nyght is thine thou hast prepared the lightes and the sunne. ¹⁷ Thou hast set all the borders of the earth, thou hast made both sommer and winter.

³ Blowe vp the trompettes in the new mone, vpon our solempne feast daye.

¹⁹ Thou hast appoynted the moone for certayne seasons, the sunne knoweth hys going doune. ²⁰ Thou makest darkenesse, that it maye be night, wherin all the beastes of the forest do moue.

⁹¹ They contynue this daye accordinge too thyne ordinaunce, for all thinges serue the.

⁷ Whych hath made great lyghtes, for hys mercy endureth for euer. ⁸ The sunne to rule the daye, for hys mercy endureth for euer. ⁹ The mone and the starres to gouerne the nyght, for his mercy endureth for euer.

³ Prayse hym Sunne and Moone, prayse hym all ye starres and light.

⁶ He hath made them fast for euer and euer, he hath geuen them a lawe whiche shall not be broken.

² Thus sayth the Lorde: Ye shall not learne after the maner of the Heathen, & ye shall not be afrayed for the tokens of heauen: for the Heathen are afrayed of suche:

³⁵ Thus sayth the Lorde which gaue the sunne to be a lyght for the daye, and the mone and starres to shyne in the night: whiche moueth the sea, so that the floudes thereof waxe fearce: hys name is the Lorde of hostes.

²⁵ Therfore thus saieth the Lorde: Yf I haue made no couenaunt with day and night, and geuen no statute vnto heauen and earth:

⁷ When thou arte put oute, I wyll couer the heauen, and make hys starres dymme. I wyll sprede a cloude ouer the sunne, and the moone shall not geue her lyghte. ⁸ All the lyghtes of heauen wyll I put oute ouer the, and brynge darckenesse vpon thy lande, sayeth the Lorde God.

¹ Thus sayeth the Lorde God: the dore of the ynnermer courte towarde the East, shall be shut the .vi. worcke dayes: but in the Sabboth & in daye of the newe Moone, it shalbe opened.

⁶ In the daye of the new moneth, it shall be a yong bullocke without blemysh, syxe lambes & a ram also wythout blemysh.

¹⁰ The earth shall quake before him, yea, the heauens shalbe moued: The sunne & moue shall be darckened, and the starres shal wythdraw theyr shyne,

³⁰ I wyll shewe wonders in heauen aboue, and tokens in the earth beneth: bloude and fyre, and the vapour of smoke. ³¹ The sunne shalbe turned into darcknes, & the mone into bloude: before the greate & notable daye of the Lorde come.

¹⁵ The sunne and mone shalbe darkened, & the starres shal withdrawe theyr light.

⁸ The Lorde maketh the seuen starres and the Dryons, he turneth the nighte into daye, and of the daye he maketh darcknesse. He calleth the waters of the sea, and poureth them oute vpon the playne grounde: the Lorde is hys name:

⁹ At the same tyme (sayeth the Lorde God) I shall cause the Sunne to go downe at none, and the land to be darcke in the cleare daye.

² sayinge. Where is he that is borne kinge of Iewes? We haue sene his star in the east, and are come to worshyppe hym.

² He aunswered and saide vnto them. At euen ye saye, we shall haue fayre wedder, and that because the skye is reed: ³ and in the mornynge ye saye: to daye shalbe foule wedder, & that because the skie is cloudy and redde. O ye hypocrites ye can discerne the fashion of the skie and can ye not discerne the signes of the times

²⁹ Immediatly after the trybulations of those dayes, shall the sonne be darkened: and the mone shall not gyue hyr lyght, and the starre shal fall from heauen, & the powers of heauen shal moue.

²⁴ Moreouer in those dayes, after that trybulacyon, the sonne shall waxe darke, and the moone shal not geue her light,

²⁵ And ther shalbe signes in the sunne, and in the mone, and in the starres: & in the earth, the people shalbe in such perplexitye, that they shall not tel which waye to turne them selues. The sea and the waters shall roore, ²⁶ and mens hertes shall fayle them for feare, & for lokinge after those thinges whiche shall come on the earth. For the powers of heauen shal moue.

⁴⁵ and the sonne was darckened. And the vaile of the temple dyd rent euen through the myddes.

¹⁹ And I wyll shewe wounders in heauen aboue, and tokens in the earth beneth, bloude & fyre, and the vapoure of smoke. ²⁰ The sonne shalbe turned into darckenes, and the mone into bloude, before that greate and notable day of the Lorde come.

¹² And I behelde when he opened the syxte seale, and lo there was a greate earth quake, and the sunne was as blacke as sacke cloth, made of heare. And the mone wexed euen as bloude,

¹² And the fourth angel blew, and the thyrde parte of the sunne was smytten and the thyrd part of the mone, and the thirde parte of the starres, so that the thirde part of them was darckened. And the daye was smitten, that the thirde parte of it shoulde not shyne, and lykewise the nyghte.

² And he opened the bottomlesse pyt, and there arose the smoke of a great fornace. And the sunne, and the ayer were darkened by the reason of the smoke of the pytt.

¹² Then spake Iosua vnto the Lorde, the daye when the Lorde delyuered the Amorites before the chyldren of Israel, and he sayde in the sight of al Israel: Sunne stande thou still vpon Gabaon, & thou Mone, in the valeye of Aialon. ¹³ And the sonne abode, and the mone stode styll, vntyll the people had aduenged them selues vpon their enemyes. Is not thys written in the boke of the ryghtwes, howe that the sunne abode in the middes of heauen, and hasted not to go doune by the space of a whole daye. ¹⁴ And there was no daye lyke that, before it, or after it, that the Lorde obeyed the voyce of a man, and al because the Lorde fought for Israel.

²⁶ Dyd I euer greatly regard the rysynge of the sunne? or had I the goyng doune of the mone in greate reputacyon?

⁷ Where wast thou when the mornyng starres praysed me together & all the chyldren of God reioysed triumphantly?

⁶ It goeth forth from the one ende of the heauen, and runneth aboute vnto the same ende agayne, and there maye no man hyde hym selfe from the heate therof.

¹⁰ For the sterres and planetes of heauen shal not geue their lyght, the sunne shalbe quenched in the risinge, and the mone shall not shyne with his light.

²³ The Mone and the Sunne shalbe ashamed, when the Lorde of Bostes shall rule them at Ierusalem vpon the mount Sion, before and wyth his excellent councel.

¹¹ The sunne and mone remayned. styll in theyr habitacyon. Thyne arowes went out glysterynge, and thy speares as the shyne of the lyghtenyng.

⁴⁵ From the syxte houre was there darcknes ouer all the lande vnto the ninthe houre.

⁴¹ There is one maner glory of the sunne and another glorye of the mone, and another glory of the starres. For one starre dyffereth from another in glorye.

⁸ And the fourth angel poured out his vial on the sunne, & power was geuen vnto hym to vexe men with heate of fire. ⁹ And the men raged in great heate, & spake euyl of the name of God which hath power ouer those plages, & they repented not, to geue him glory.

²³ & the cytye hath no nede of the sunne neyther of the mone to lyghten it. For the bryghtnes of God dyd lyght it, & the lambe was the lyght of it.

⁴⁷ For so hath the Lorde commaunded vs: I haue made the a lyghte to the gentyls, that thou be the saluacion to the ende of the worlde.

⁷ Than God made the fyrmament, and parted the waters whyche were vnder the fyrmament, from the waters that were aboue the fyrmament: And it was so.

²² & God blessed them sayinge: Growe and multyplie and fyll the waters of the seas: and let the foules multyplye vpon the erth.

³⁰ and for al beastes of the erth, and vnto all foules of the ayre, and vnto all that crepeth on the erth, where in is lyfe, that they maye haue all maner herbes and grasse for to eate, and euen so it was.

¹⁹ And after that the Lorde God had made of the erth al maner beastes of the felde, and all maner foules of the ayre, he brought them vnto Adam to se what he wolde call them. And as Adam called al maner lyuyng beastes, euen so are their names.

¹⁷ And al the beastes that are wt the whatsoeuer fleshe it be, both foule & catel, & all maner wormes that crepe on the earth bringe oute wyth the & let them moue, grow & multiply vpon the erth.

³³ And he disputed of trees, euen from the Cedar tre that groweth in Lybanon vnto the Isope that spryngeth out of the walle. And he dysputed of beastes, foules, wormes and fyshes.

²⁴ O Lord, how manifolde are thy workes, right wisely hast thou made them al: yea, the earth is full of thy ryches. ²⁵ So is this great & wyde sea also, wherein are thynges creping innumerable, both smal and great beastes.

¹⁰ Beastes and cattel, wormes and fethered foules.

²¹ for somuch as a man shuld weery hym selfe with wisdome, wt vnderstanding & oportunyte & yet be faine to leaue his laboures vnto another, that neuer swet. for them. This is also a vayne thinge and a greate miserie.

²⁵ as though he neded of any thing seynge he hym selfe geueth lyfe and brethe to al men euerye where,

²⁰ of byrdes in their kynde, & of beastes in theyr kynde, & of all maner of wormes of the erth in theyr kynde: a payre of euery thynge shal come vnto the to kepe them a lyue.

¹⁴ bothe they & al maner of beastes in theyr kynde, and all maner of catell in their kynd, & al maner of wormes that crepe vpon the erth in their kynde, & al maner of byrdes in there kynde, & all maner of foules what soeuer had feders.

¹⁹ And all the beastes, and all the wormes, and all the foules and all that moued vpon the erth, came also out of the arcke, all of one kynde togyther.

⁷ Se that ye encrease, and waxe, and be occupied vpon the earth, & multiply therin.

⁷ the chyldren of Israell grewe, encreased multiplied, & waxed exceadyng myghtye: so that the land was full of them.

³ And the ryuer shall scrale wyth frogges, and they shall come vp and go into thyne house, and into thy chambre where thou sleapest, and vpon thy bedde, & into the houses of thy seruauntes, and vpon thy people, & into thine ouens, and vpon thy vytails whych thou hast in store.

¹² Am I a see or a whalfysh, that thou kepest me so in preson?

⁵ The gyauntes & worthies that are slayne, and lye vnder the worlde with their companions:

²⁴ O Lord, how manifolde are thy workes, right wisely hast thou made them al: yea, the earth is full of thy ryches. ²⁵ So is this great & wyde sea also, wherein are thynges creping innumerable, both smal and great beastes. ²⁶ There go the shippes ouer, and there is the Leuiathan, whom thou hast made, to take hys pastyme therein.

² Thou sonne of man, take vp a lamentacyon vpon Pharao the kynge of Egypte, and saye vnto hym: Thou arte reputed as a Lyon of the Heathen, & as a whalfyshe in the sea. Thou castest thy waters about the, thou troublest the waters with thy fete, and stampest in theyr floudes.

¹⁷ Bvt the Lorde prepared a greate fyshe, to swalow vp Ionas. So was Ionas in the bely of the fysh, thre dayes & thre nightes.

¹⁰ And the Lorde spake vnto the fysh, and it cast out Ionas agayne vpon the drye lande.

⁴⁰ For as Ionas was thre dayes and thre nyghtes in the whales bellye: so shall the sonne of man be thre dayes and thre nyghtes in the herte of the earth.

²⁸ And God blessed them, & God sayde vnto them: Growe and multiplye & fyl the erth, & subdue it, & haue dominion ouer the fyshes of the sea, and ouer the foules of the ayre, and ouer al the beastes that moue on the erth.

¹ And God blessed Noe & hys sonnes, and said vnto them: Encreace & multiply and fyll the earth.

²⁷ Then sayd Laban vnto hym: If I haue founde fauoure in thy syght (for I suppose that the Lorde hath blessed me for thy sake)

³⁰ For it was but lytle that thou haddest before I came, & now it is increased into a multytude, & the Lord hath blessed the for my sake. But now when shal I make prouision for myne owne house also.

¹¹ And God sayd vnto hym: I am God almighty, growe & multiplye: for people and a multitude of people shall sprynge of the, yea & kinges shal come out of thy loynes.

⁹ And I wyl turne vnto you and encrease you & multyply you, and set vp my testament wyth you.

¹⁵ Behold Behemoth (whom I made with the) which eateth haye as an oxe:

¹² And the Lorde made Iob rycher then he was before: for he had .xiiij.M. shepe .vi.M. camels, a .M. youcke of oxen, & a .M. asshes.

³¹ O that men wolde prayse the goodnes of the Lorde, and the wondres that he doth for the chyldren of men.

³⁸ He blesseth them, so that they multiplye excedingly, and suffreth not their cattel to decrease.

³ Thy wyfe shalbe as the frutefull vyne vpon the walles of thy house. Thy chyldren lyke the Olyue braunches rounde about thy table.

¹³ That oure garners may be full and plenteous with all maner of stoare: that oure shepe maye brynge forth thousandes and hundreth thousandes in our vyllages. ¹⁴ That our oxen may be strong to laboure, that there be no mischaunce, no decaye, & no complaynyng in our stretes.

²² The blessing of the Lord maketh rich men, as for carefull trauayle, it doth nothynge therto.

³⁹ Hunteste thou the praye from the lyon, or fedest thou hys welpes ⁴⁰ lying in theyr dennes, & lurkyng in theyr couches?

¹ Knowest thou the tyme when the wylde gotes bringe forthe theyr yonge among the stony rockes? Or layest thou wayte when the hyndes vse to fawne?

⁵ who letteth the wylde asse go fre, or who louseth the bondes of the mule?

⁹ Whyl the vnicorne be so tame as to do the seruyce, or to abyde styl by thy cryb?

¹⁹ Haste thou geuen the horse his strength, or learned him to bowe doune his necke wt feare:

⁹ I wil take no bullockes out of thy house, nor gotes out of thy foldes. ¹⁰ For all the beastes of the felde are myne, and thousandes of cattell vppon the hylles.

¹⁸ The hilles are a refuge for the wilde goates, & so are the stony rockes for the conyes.

²³ Then goeth man forth to hys worke, and to tyll hys lande vntyll the euenynge.

¹⁹ And after that the Lorde God had made of the erth al maner beastes of the felde, and all maner foules of the ayre, he brought them vnto Adam to se what he wolde call them. And as Adam called al maner lyuyng beastes, euen so are their names. ²⁰ And Adam gaue names vnto al maner catell, and vnto the foules of the ayre and vnto all maner beastes of the felde. But ther was no helpe founde vnto Adam to beare hym company.

⁸ Speake to the earth, & it shall shewe the: Or to the fysshes of the sea, and they shall certifie the. ⁹ What is he, but he knoweth that the hande of the Lorde made all these? ¹⁰ In whose hande is the soule of euery lyuynge thinge, & the breth of all men.

⁵ I am he that made the earthe, the men, & the catell that are vpon the grounde, with my great power and outstretched arme, & haue geuen it vnto whome it pleased me.

²² And the Lorde God sayd: Loo, Adam is become as it were one of vs, in knowledge of good and euell. But now lest he strech forth hys hande and take also of the tree of lyfe, & eate & lyue euer.

¹ This is the boke of the generacion of man. In the daye when God created man & made hym after the similitude of God.

² The feare also & dreade of you be vpon all beastes of the earthe, and vppon all foules of the ayre, & vpon al that crepeth on the earth, and vpon all fyshes of the sea, whych are geuen vnto your handes. ³ And all that moueth vpon the earth hauynge lyfe, shall be your meat: Euen as the grene herbes so giue I you al thinge. ⁴ Onely the flesh with his lyfe whych is his bloude se that you eate not.

⁶ so that he whych sheadeth mans bloud shal haue his bloud shed by man againe: for God made man after hys owne lykenesse.

⁷ Come on, let vs descende, and myngle theyr tonge euen there, that one vnderstande not what another sayeth.

²³ But the castels in the land shal be confederate with the, & the beastes of the felde shall geue the peace.

¹⁰ For suche one neuer sayeth: Where is God that made me? & that shyneth vpon vs, that we myght prayse him in the nighte?

⁴ Oh what is man, that thou art so myndfull of hym? either the sonne of man that thou visitest hym? ⁵ After thou haddest for a season made him lower then the aungels, thou crounedest him with honour and glory. ⁶ Thou haste set him aboue the workes of thy handes: and thou hast put all thynges in subiection vnder his fete. ⁷ All shepe and oxen, yea, and the beastes of the felde. ⁸ The foules of the ayre, the fish of the sea, and whatsoeuer walketh thorow the wayes of the sea.

³ Be ye sure, that the Lord he is God: It is he that hath made vs, and not we our selues: we are but his people, and the shepe of his pastoure.

²⁰ Thou makest darkenesse, that it maye be night, wherin all the beastes of the forest do moue. ²¹ Yea, and the yonge lyons which roare after their praye, and seke their meate at God. ²² But when the sunne aryseth, they get them awaye together, and lye them doune in their dennes. ²³ Then goeth man forth to hys worke, and to tyll hys lande vntyll the euenynge. ²⁴ O Lord, how manifolde are thy workes, right wisely hast thou made them al: yea, the earth is full of thy ryches.

² Let Israell reioyse in hym that made hym, & let the chyldren of Sion be ioyfull in their kyng.

²⁹ Lo thys onely haue I founde, that God made man iust and right, but they seke dyuerse soteltyes,

⁸ After thys I heard the voyce of the Lord takyng aduysement on thys maner: Whome shall I sende, & who wylbe oure messenger? Then I sayde: here am I, sende me.

⁸ But now O Lorde, thou father of oures: we are al the claye, and thou art our potter & we are al the worke of thy handes.

⁶ And nowe wyl I delyuer all these landes into the power of Nabuchodonosor the Kynge of Babylon, my seruaunt. The beastes also of the felde shall I geue hym to do hym seruyce.

¹⁷ And Iesus answered them: my father worketh hither to & I worke.

²³ Iesus aunswered and sayd vnto hym, yf a man loue me, and will kepe my saiynges, my father also will loue hym & we will come vnto hym, and will dwell to hym.

²⁰ For thou bryngest straung tydynges to oure eares. We woulde knowe therfore what these thynges meane.

²⁶ and hath made of one bloude all nacyons of men, for to dwell on al the face of the earth, and hath assygned before howe longe tyme, and also the endes of theyr inhabitacyon,

²⁸ For in him we lyue, moue, and haue our beyng, as certayne of your own Poetes sayd. For we are also hys generacion. ²⁹ For as muche then as we are the generacyon of God, we ought not to thinke that the God hede is lyke vnto golde, syluer, or stone grauen by crafte and ymagynacyon of man.

⁷ A man oughte not to couer his heade, for as muche as he is the ymage and glorye of God. The woman is the glorye of the man.

¹⁸ But we all beholde the glorye of the Lorde with hys face open, and chaunged vnto the same similitude, from glorye to glory, euen of the spirite of the Lorde.

⁴ in whome the God of thys worlde hath blynded the myndes of them which beleue not, leste the lyght of the gloryous gospell of Christe which is the ymage of God shoulde shyne vnto them.

²⁴ and put on that newe man, whyche after the Image of God is shapen in ryghteousnes & true holynes.

¹⁵ whyche is the ymage of the inuisible God, fyrste begotten of creatures.

¹⁰ and the newe put on, whiche is renued in knowledge after the ymage of hym, that made hym

⁶ But one in a certaine place wytnessed, saying. What is man, that thou arte mindfull of him? ⁷ After thou haddeste for a season made him lower then the Angelles: thou crownedst him with honoure and glorye, and hast set him aboue the workes of thy handes. ⁸ Thou hast put all thinges in subieccion vnder hys fete. In that he put al thinges vnder hym, he lefte nothinge that is not put vnder him. ⁹ Neuertheles we yet se not all thinges subdued, but him that was made lesse then the Angelles, we se that it was Iesus, whiche is crowned with glory and honoure for the suffering of death, that he by the grace of God, should taste of death for al men.

⁷ All the natures of beastes, and of byrdes, and of serpentes, and thynges of the sea, are meked and tamed of the nature of man.

⁹ Therewyth blesse we God the father, and therewyth cursse wemen which are made after the similitude of God.

⁷ (For there are thre which beare recorde in heauen, the father, the worde, and the holye Ghoste. And these thre are one.)

¹⁸ And the Lorde God sayde: It is not good that man should be alone, I wyll make hym an helper to beare hym company.

²¹ Then the Lord god cast a slomber on Adam, and he slepte. And then he toke out one of his ribbes, & in stede ther of he filled vp the place wt flesh. ²² And the lord God made of the ribbe whych he toke out of Adam a woman: and brought her vnto Adam. ²³ Then sayde Adam: This is once bone of my bones, & flesh of my flesh. This shal be called woman: because she was take of the man. ²⁴ For this cause shal a man leue father & mother, & cleue vnto hys wyfe, & they shal be one flesh. ²⁵ And they were ether of them naked, bothe Adam & his wyfe, and were not ashamed.

¹ This is the boke of the generacion of man. In the daye when God created man & made hym after the similitude of God. ² Male & female made he them, & called their names man, in the day when they were created.

¹⁴ I will geue thankes vnto the, for I am wonderously made: maruelous are thy workes, & that my soule knoweth right well.

⁷ Namelye, all those that be called after my name: For them haue I created, fasshyoned, and made for myne honoure.

¹⁵ So dyd not the one, and yet had he an excellente spirite. What dyd then the one? He sought the sede promised of God. Therfore loke well to your spirit, and let no man despise the wyfe of his youth.

¹⁷ that I wyll blesse the & multiplie thy seed as the starres of heauen and as the sande vpon the sea syde. And thy seed shall possesse the gates of hys enymies. ¹⁸ And in thy seed shal al the nacions of the erth be blessed, because thou hast obeyed my voyce.

⁶⁰ And they blessed Rebecca, & sayd vnto hyr: Thou art oure syster growe into thousande thousandes, and thy seed possesse the gates of theyr enemies.

³ soiourne in thys lande, and I wyll be wyth the, and wyll blesse the: for vnto the, and vnto thy seed, I wil giue al these contryes. And I wyl perfourme the oth which I sware vnto Abraham thy father, ⁴ & wyl multiply thy sede as the stars of heauen, & will gyue vnto thy sede al these contries. And thorow thi sede shal all the nacions of the earth be blessed,

²⁴ And the Lorde appeared vnto hym the same nyght, & sayd: I am the God of Abraham thy father, feare not for I am wyth the, and wyll blesse the, and multiply thy sede for my seruaunt Abrahams sake.

⁵ And he lyfte vp hys eyes & sawe the wyues & theyr chyldren, & said: what are these which thou there hast? And he sayd they are the children which god hath geuen thy seruaunt

²⁵ Thy fathers God shall helpe the, & the almyghtie shal blesse the wt blessynges from heauen aboue, and wyth blessynges of the water that lieth vnder, & with blessynges of the brestes and of the wombe.

¹⁰ But Ieabes called on the God of Israel, saying: If thou shalt blesse me, & enlarge my costes, and shalt let thyne hand be wyth me, & wylt kepe me from euyll that it vexe me not. And God sent hym hys desyre.

⁵ Amiel the sixte, Isacar the seuenth, and Polathai the .viij. for God had blessed hym.

³⁴ Let heauen and earth praise him, the sea & all that moueth ther in.

¹ The song of the steares. Except the Lord buylde the house, their laboure is but loste that buylde it. Except the Lord kepe the cytye, the watchman waketh but in vayne. ² It is but lost labour that ye ryse vp early and take no rest, but eate the breade of carefulnesse: for loke to whom it pleaseth him, he geueth it in slepe. ³ Lo, chyldren & the frute of the wombe are an heritage & gift, that commeth of the Lorde. ⁴ Lyke as the arrowes in the hande of the gyaunt, euen so are the yonge chyldren. ⁵ Happy is the man, that hathe his quyuerful of them: they shal not be ashamed, when they speake with their enemyes in the gate.

³ Thy wyfe shalbe as the frutefull vyne vpon the walles of thy house. Thy chyldren lyke the Olyue braunches rounde about thy table. ⁴ Lo, thus shal the man be blessed, that feareth the lorde.

³ forbyddyng to marye, and commaundynge to abstayne from meates which God hath created to be receyued wyth geuyng thankes, of them which beleue and know the trueth.

³ And all that moueth vpon the earth hauynge lyfe, shall be your meat: Euen as the grene herbes so giue I you al thinge.

³¹ By these thinges gouerneth he hys people, and geueth them aboundaunce of meate.

¹ A Psalme of Dauid. The earth is the Lordes, & all that therin is: the compase of the world, & al that dwell therein.

¹⁴ Thou bringest forth grasse for the cattell, and grene herbes for the seruice of men. Thou bringest fode out of the earth: ¹⁵ wyne to make glad the herte of man, oyle to make hym a chearfull countenaunce and bread to strength mans herte.

²⁷ They wayte all vpon the, that thou mayest geue them meate in due season. ²⁸ When thou geuest it them, they gather it: when thou openest thyne hande, they are filled with good.

⁵ He geueth meat vnto them, that feare him he is euer myndfull of hys couenaunte.

¹⁶ Al the whole heauens are the Lordes, but the earth hath he geuen vnto the chyldren of men.

²⁵ Which geueth fode vnto al flesh, for his mercy endureth for euer.

¹⁵ The eyes of all wayte vpon the, and thou geuest them their meate in due season. ¹⁶ Thou openest thyne hande, and fyllest all thinges liuing with plenteousnesse.

⁷ Which helpeth them to righte that suffre wrong, which fedeth the hongry. The Lord louseth men out of pryson,

⁹ Which geueth fodre vnto the cattell, and fedeth the yong rauens that call vpon hym.

¹⁶ He it is, that shall dwell on hye whose sauegarde shalbe in the true rocke, to him shal be geuen the right true meate and drincke.

⁸ But this woulde she not knowe, where as I yet gaue her corne, wyne, oyle, syluer & gold, whiche she hath hangeth vpon Baal.

¹¹ Geue vs this daye our daylye breade.

²⁵ Therfore I saie vnto you, be not tareful for you life what ye shall eate or what ye shall dryncke, nor yet for your bodye, what ye shall put on, is not the lyfe more worthe then meate, and the body more of value then rayment? ²⁶ Behold the foules of the ayer: for the sowe not, neyther reape, nor yet cary into the barnes: and yet your heauenlye father fedethe them. Are ye not muche better then they?

¹⁷ Neuerthelesse he lefte not hym selfe without wytnes, in that he shewed hys benefytes, in geuynge vs rayne from heauen, and fruteful ceasons, fyllyng our hertes with fode and gladnes.

²⁴ God that made the worlde, and all that are in it, seynge that he is Lorde of heauen and earth, he dwelleth not in temples made with handes, neyther is worshypped wt mennes handes, ²⁵ as though he neded of any thing seynge he hym selfe geueth lyfe and brethe to al men euerye where,

¹⁷ Charge them that are ryche in this worlde shal they be not exceadyng wyse, and that they truste not in the vncertayne ryches, but in the lyuyng God, which geueth vs aboundauntly al thynges to enioy them,

³⁹ Hunteste thou the praye from the lyon, or fedest thou hys welpes ⁴⁰ lying in theyr dennes, & lurkyng in theyr couches? ⁴¹ who prouydeth meate for the rauen, when his younge ones crye vnto God, and fle aboute for wante of meate?

⁴ How theyr younge ones growe vp & waxe greate thorowe good fedynge?

⁸ but seke their pasture aboute the mountaynes, and folow the grene grasse.

³⁰ His younge ones are fed with bloude, & where any deade bodye lyeth, there is he immediatly.

²⁰ that the mountaynes shuld geue hym grasse, where all the beastes of the fylde take theyr pastyme.

³⁸ Out of the mouth of the mooste Hyghest goeth not euell and good?

⁴ For all the creatures of God are good & nothynge to be refused, yf it be receyued with thankes geuynge.
