⁷ Nowe therfore delyuer the man his wyfe agayne, for he is a Prophete. And let him pray for the that thou mayst lyue. But and yf thou delyuer her not agayn, be sure that thou shalt dye the deth, wyth al that thou hast.

¹⁷ But of the tree of knowledge of good & bad se that thou eate not: For euen the same daye thou eatest of it thou shalt dye the dethe.

¹⁵ And Pharaos Lodres sawe hir also, & praysed hyr vnto Pharao: So that she was taken into Pharaos house,

¹⁷ But God plaged Pharao, and his house wt greate plages, bycause of Sarai Abrams wyfe.

¹⁸ For the lord had closed to, all the matryces of the house of Abimelech, because of Sara Abrahams wyfe.

¹⁶ And he shal be thy spokesman vnto the people he shall be thy mouth, & thou shalt be hys God:

¹ And the lord said vnto Moses: behold I haue made the Pharaos God, & Aaron thy brother shalbe thy prophete.

¹ And the lord spake vnto Moses & Aaron in the lande of Egipt saying: ² This moneth shal be your chiefe moneth: euen of the fyrst moneth of the yeare shal it be vnto you. ³ Speake ye vnto all the felowshyp of Israell saying: That they take the .x. day of thys moneth to euery houshold a shepe.

¹⁷ And his father in lawe sayde vnto him: it is not wel that thou doest.

⁴ Then when he hath synned or trespaced, he shall restore agayne that he toke violently awaye, or the wrong which he dyd, or that whych was deliuered him to kepe, or the lost thyng whiche he found,

⁷ And the prieste shall make an attonemente for hym before the Lorde, and it shall be forgeuen hym, in whatsoeuer thynge it be that a man doth & trespaceth therin.

³² and the earth opened hyr mouth and swalowed them and theyr houses, and al menne that were wyth Corah and al theyr goodes. ³³ And they and all that pertained vnto them, went downe aliue vnto hell, and the earth closed vppon theim and they peryshed from amonge the congregation.

⁵ Then sayd Samuel: gather al Israel to Mazphah, that I maye pray for you vnto the Lorde.

⁸ & sayd to Samuel: cease not to crye vnto the Lorde oure God for vs, that he maye saue vs out of the handes of the Philistines.

¹⁹ Then sayde all the people vnto Samuel: praye for thy seruauntes vnto the Lorde thy God, that we dye not: for we haue synned in askyng vs a kynge, besyde all the synnes that euer we dyd.

²³ Moreouer God forbydde that I shulde synne agaynste the Lorde in leuyng praiyng for you and to shewe you the good and ryghte way.

¹⁷ Then spake Dauid vnto the Lorde, when he sawe the Aungel that smote the people, and sayde: lo, it is I that haue synned, and I that haue done wickedly. But these shepe what haue they done? let I praye the thyne hande be on me, and on my fathers house.

⁶ And the kyng aunswered and sayd vnto the man of God: Oh pray vnto the Lorde thy God, & make intercession for me, that my hand maye be restored me agayne. And the man of God besought the Lord and hys hande came to hym agayne as well as before.

¹ And at the last the worde of the Lorde came to Eliah the thyrde yeare sayinge: go, shewe thy self vnto Ahab, that I may sende raine vpon the earthe. ² And Eliah went to shew him self vnto Ahab for there was a great famishement in Samaria. ³ Wherfore Ahab called Abdiah the gouerner of hys house: whyche Abdiah feared God greatlye: ⁴ in so muche that when Iezabel destroyed the Prophetes of the Lorde, he toke an hundred of the Prophetes and hyd them, fyftye in one caue, and fyftye in another, and prouyded breade and water for them. ⁵ And Ahab sayde vnto Abdiah: walke thorow the lande, vnto al fountaynes of water and vnto all brokes, to se whether any grasse maye be founde, that we maye saue the horses and the Mules, that we destroye not the beastes. ⁶ And they deuyded the lande betwene them to walke thorow it. Ahab went one way by hym selfe, and Abdiah went another by hym selfe. ⁷ And it chaunced as Abdiah went in the waye that Eliah met him. And Abdiah knew hym and fell on his face and sayde: arte not thou my Lorde Eliah. ⁸ And he said vnto him: I am he. Go, and tel Ahab that Eliah is here. ⁹ And the other answered: what haue I synned that thou wouldest delyuer me into the hande of Ahab, to sley me? ¹⁰ As surely as the Lorde thy God lyueth, there is no nacyon or kyngedome, whether my Lord hath not sent, to seke the. And when they saide thou wast not there he toke an othe of the kyngedome & nacyon, because he founde the not. ¹¹ And now thou sayest: go and tell, thy Lord Eliah is here. ¹² And as sone as I am gone from the, the spyryte of the Lorde shal cary the away, whether I shall not knowe, and then I haue gone and tolde Ahab, and then he can not fynde the, he shall sley me. And yet I thy seruaunt haue feared the Lorde from my younge age. ¹³ Was it not tolde my Lorde, what I dyd, when Iezabel slue the Prophetes of the Lorde how I hydde an hundred of the Lordes Prophetes, fyfty in one caue and as many in another, & prouyded them of breade and water? ¹⁴ And yet now thou sayest, go shewe thy Lorde, that Eliah is here, that he shoulde sley me. ¹⁵ Then Eliah sayde: as truly as the Lorde of Hostes lyueth, before whom I stande: I wil shewe my selfe vnto hym thys day. ¹⁶ And thervpon Abdiah went to Ahab and told him. And Ahab went agaynst Eliah. ¹⁷ And when Ahab sawe Eliah, he sayd vnto hym: art thou he that troubleth Israel? ¹⁸ And he sayde: it is not I that trouble Israel, but thou and thy fathers house, in that ye haue forsaken the commaundementes of the Lord, and hast folowed Baal. ¹⁹ But now sende and gather to me all Israel vnto mount Carmel and the Prophetes of Baal foure hundred and fyfty, and the Prophetes of the groues four hundred, which eate of Iezabels table. ²⁰ And Ahab sent for all the children of Israel and gathered the prophetes vnto mount Carmel. ²¹ And Eliah came vnto all the people and sayde: why halte ye betwene two opinions? Yf the Lorde be very God, folowe him: or yf Baal be he, then folowe hym. And the people answered him not one worde. ²² Then sayde Eliah vnto the people: I only remayne of the Lordes Prophetes, & Baals Prophetes are foure hundred and fyftye. ²³ Let two oxen be geuen vs, and let them chose the one and cutte hym in peces and lay him on wood, and put no fyre vnder. And I wyll dresse the other & put him on wood, and wil put no fyre vnder. ²⁴ And call ye on the name of youre God, and I wil cal on the name of the Lorde. And then the God that answereth by fyre, he is the very God. And al the people sayde: it is wel spoken. ²⁵ Then sayde Eliah vnto the Prophetes of Baal: chose you an oxe and dresse him fyrst (for ye are many) and call on the name of youre God, but put no fyre vnder. ²⁶ And they toke the oxe that was geuen them and dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from mournynge to none sayinge: O Baal heare vs. But there was no voyce nor answere. And they lepte aboute the aulter that they had made. ²⁷ And at none Eliah mocked them and sayd: call loud, (for he is a God: but he is talking or occupied or in the waye, or happely he slepeth) that he may awake. ²⁸ And they cryed loud, and cut them selues, as their maner was, wyth knyues & launcers, tyl the bloude folowed on them. ²⁹ And when midday was passed, they prophesyed vntil it was time to offer. But there was neyther voyce nor answere nor any that regarded them. ³⁰ Then Eliah sayde to all the folke: come to me. And all the people came to hym. And he mended the aulter of the Lorde that was broken. ³¹ And he toke .xij. stones accordynge to the nombre of the .xij. trybes of the sonnes of Iacob, vnto whom the word of the lord came sayinge: Israel shalbe thy name. ³² And wyth the stones he made an aultare in the name of the Lord. And he made a gutter round about the aulter, able to receyue two peckes of corne. ³³ And he put the wood in order, and hewed the oxe in peces, and put hym on the wood, and sayde: fyl foure pytchers with water, and powre it on the sacrifice and on the wood. ³⁴ And he said: do so againe. And they dyd so againe. Then he sayde: do it the thyrde tyme. And they dyd so the thirde tyme. ³⁵ And the water ranne round about the aultare, and the gutter was full of water also. ³⁶ And when offeringe time was come, Eliah the prophete went to and sayde: Lord God of Abraham, Isaac and of Israel, let it be knowen thys daye, that thou art the God in Israel, and that I am thy seruaunt, and that I do al these thinges at thy commaundement. ³⁷ Heare me O lorde, heare me, that this people may know, that thou lord, art the God, and that thou hast turned their hertes backward. ³⁸ And there fell fire from the Lorde, and consumed the sacryfice & the wood and the stones & the dust, & lycked vp the water that was in the gutter. ³⁹ And when all the people sawe that, they fel on theyr faces & sayde: the Lorde he is God, the lord he is God. ⁴⁰ Then sayd Eliah vnto them: lay handes on the Prophetes of Baal, let not one of them escape. And when they had taken them, Eliah brought them doune vnto the broke of Kison, and slue them there. ⁴¹ Then Eliah sayde vnto Ahab, get the vp, and eate and dryncke, for ther is a sound of muche rayne. ⁴² And when Ahab went vp to eate & to dryncke, Eliah went vp to the toppe of mount Carmel. And bowed hym selfe to the earthe, & put hys face betwene hys knees, ⁴³ and sayd to hys seruaunt: go vp and loke towarde the sea. And he went vp and loked, and saide: here is nothing. And he sayd: go agayn .vij. tymes. ⁴⁴ And the seuenth time he sayde: beholde, there aryseth a lytle cloude out of the sea, lyke the palme of a mannes hande. Then he sayde: go and saye to Ahab, put the horsses in the charet, and get the doune that the rayne stoppe the not. ⁴⁵ And within a lytle whyle, heauen was blacke wyth cloudes and winde, and there was a great rayne. And Ahab rode and went to Iezrahel. ⁴⁶ And the hande of the Lorde was on Eliah, and he gyrdled vp hys loynes and ranne before Ahab, tyl they came to Iezrahel.

¹¹ And Naaman was wroth and went away, & sayde: Beholde, I thought in my self, he would haue come out, & stand & cal on the name of the Lorde hys God, and put hys hande on the place of the disease, and so take awaye the leprosye.

² Forthermore he sent Eliakim stuard of houshold and Sobnah the scribe, and the elders of the priestes clothed in sack, to Isaiah the Prophet the sonne of Amos. ³ And they sayde to hym: thus sayth Hezekiah: thys daye is a daye of trybulacyon, rebukinge and raylynge. Euen as when the chyldren are readye to be borne and the mothers haue no power to be delyuered. ⁴ Oh that the Lorde thy God would heare al the wordes of Rabsakeh whom the kynge of Assiria hys mayster hathe sent to rayle on the lyuynge God, and to rebuke hym wyth wordes which the Lord thy God hath heard. Wherfore lyfte vp thy prayer for the remnaunt that are lefte.

²² Touch not myne anoynted, nor do my Prophetes any harme.

¹⁹ Vngodly men are ye. He hath none respecte vnto the personnes of the lordlye, and regardeth not the ryche more then pore. For they be al the worcke of hys handes.

⁸ Therfore take .vij. oxen & .vij. rammes, and go to my seruaunte Iob: offre vp also for your selues a brentofferynge: & let my seruaunte Iob praye for you. Hym wyll I accepte, & not deale with you after youre folishnesse: in that ye haue not spoken the thynge whiche is right, like as my seruaunt Iob hath done.

¹⁴ The secrete of the Lorde is amonge them that feare him, and he sheweth them hys couenaunt.

⁹ Yea the couenant that he made with Abraham, and the oth that, he sware vnto Isaac, ¹⁰ And appoynted the same vnto Iacob for a lawe, and to Israell for an euerlastynge testamente. ¹¹ Sayenge: vnto the wyl I geue the land of Canaan, the lot of your heritage. ¹² When there was yet but a fewe of them, and the straungers therin. ¹³ What tyme as they wente from one nacyon to another, from one kyngedome to another. ¹⁴ He suffered no man to hurt them, but reproued euen kynges for their sakes. ¹⁵ Touch not myne anoynted, do my prophetes no harme.

¹¹ Yee euen thus sayde the Lorde vnto me: Thou shalt not praye to do this people good.

¹ Then spake the Lorde vnto me, & sayde: Though Moses and Samuel stode before me, yet haue I no herte to thys people. Dryue them awaye, that they maye go out of my syght.

¹⁸ But yf they be true Prophetes in very dede, and yf the worde of the Lorde be commytted vnto them, then let them praye the Lord of Hoostes, that the remnaunte of the ornamentes (whiche are in the house of the Lorde, and remayne yet in the house of the King of Iuda and at Ierusalem) be not caryed to Babylon also.

¹⁸ If I sayde vnto the, concernynge the vngodly man: that (wythout doute) he muste dye, and thou geuest hym not warnynge, ner speakest vnto hym, that he maye turne from hys euell waye, and so to lyue: Then shalll the same vngodly man dye in hys owne vnryghtuousnes: but hys bloude wyll I requyre of thyne hande.

⁸ If I say vnto the wicked thou wycked, thou shalte surelye dye: & thou geuest hym not warnynge, that he maye bewarre of his vngodly waye: then shall the wicked dye in hys owne synne, but hys bloude wyll I requyre of thy hand.

¹⁴ Agayne, yf I saye vnto the wycked: thou shalt surely dye: and so he turne from hys synnes, and do the thinge that is lawfull and ryght: ¹⁵ In so moch that the same wicked man geueth the pledge agayne, restoreth that he had taken awaye by robbery, walcketh in the commaundementes of lyfe, & doth no wronge: Then shall he surely lyue, and not dye. ¹⁶ Yee the synnes that he hath done shall neuer be thought vpon: For in so moch as he doth now the thinge that is lawfull and ryght, he shall lyue.

⁴ He that speaketh wyth tounges profyteth hym selfe: he that prophecieth edifyeth the congregation.

¹ God in tyme paste diuerselye and manye wayes, spake vnto the fathers by Prophetes,

⁴ Let wedlocke be had in pryce in all poyntes, and let the chambre be vndefyled: for whorekepers and aduouterers God wyll iudge.

¹⁴ Yf anye be deseased amonge you, let hym call for the elders of the congregacyon, and let them praye ouer him, and annoynte hym wyt oyle in the name of the Lord ¹⁵ and the prayer of fayth shall saue the sicke, & the Lorde shall rayse hym vp: and yf he haue commytted synnes, they shalbe forgeuen him. ¹⁶ Knoweledge youre fautes one to another; and praye one for another, that ye maye be healed. The prayer of a ryghtuous man auayleth muche yf it be feruente.

¹⁶ If any man se his brother synne a synne that is not vnto death, let him axe, and he shal geue him lyfe, for them that synne not vnto death. There is a synne vnto death, for which saye I not that a man shoulde praye.

⁵ And yf any man wyl hurte them, fire shal proceade out of theyr mouthes, and consume theyr enemyes. And yf anye man wyll hurte them this wyse muste he be killed. ⁶ These haue power to shut heauen, that it rayne not in the daies of they: Prophesiyng, and haue power ouer waters to turne them to bloud, and to smyte the earth wyth al maner plages, as often as they will.
