¹⁰ Iacob answered: Oh naye, but if I haue founde grace in thy syght, receyue my presente of my hande: for I haue sene thy face as though I had sene the face of god:

¹⁹ behold, in as moch as thy seruaunt hath founde grace in thy syghte, nowe make thy mercy great, whyche thou shewest vnto me in sauing my lyfe. For I can not saue my selfe in the mountayns, lest some misfortune fall vpon me and I dye.

³⁰ And Iacob called the name of that place Pheniel for I haue sene God face to face, & yet is my life reserued.

³ Than sayd Iuda vnto him: the man dyd testifye vnto vs sayinge loke that ye sea not my face excepte your brother be wyth you.

²⁹ When the tyme drewe nye, that Israel must dye: he sent for hys sonne Ioseph and sayde vnto hym: If I haue founde grace in thy syghte, put thy hande vnder my thye & deale mercyfully and truely wyth me, that thou burye me not in Egypte:

⁴ And when the dayes of wepyng were ended, Ioseph spake vnto the house of Pharao sayinge. If I haue founde fauoure in youre eyes, speake vnto Pharao and tell him,

¹² And Moses sayde vnto the Lorde: se, thou saydest vnto me: leade thys people forth, but thou shewest me not whom thou wylt sende with me. And hast sayde moreouer: I know the by name and thou hast also founde grace in my syghte: ¹³ Now therfore, yf I haue found fauoure in thy sight, then shewe me thy way & let me know the: that I may fynde grace in thy syghte. And loke on thys also, howe that this nacion is thy people.

¹⁰ Then she fell on her face, and bowed her selfe to the grounde and sayde vnto him: howe is it that I haue founde grace in thyne eyes, to know me, seyng: I am an alyaunt.

³ And Dauid sware agayne and sayde: thy father knoweth that I haue founde grace in thyne eyes and therfore he thinketh, Ionathas shall not know it, leste he be sorye. For in very dede, euen as truly as the Lorde lyueth and as truely as thy soule lyueth, there is but a steppe betwene me and death.

¹³ And Dauid aunswered: well sayd, I wyl make a bonde wyth the. But one thynge I requere of the, that thou se not my face, excepte thou fyrst brynge Michol Saules doughter, when thou comest to se me.

³² And Absalom said to Ioab: beholde, I sente for the desyringe the to come, because I wolde haue sente the to the Kinge, for to saye: Wherfore am I come from Gesur: It had bene as good for me to haue bidden there styll. Now therfor let me come to the kynges presence, or els yf there be any trespace in me, kyll me.

²⁶ For yf he submytte hym self vnto God he is gracyous, and sheweth hym his countenaunce ioyfully, and rewardeth man for hys ryghtuousnes.

¹¹ By this I know thou fauourest me, that. my enemy shal not triumphe ouer me.

² Thus saieth the Lorde: The people of Israel which escaped in the wyldernes from the swearde, founde grace to come into their rest.

¹⁰ Se that ye not dispise not one of these litelones. For I saye vnto you, that in heauen their aungels alwaies behold the face of my father which is in heauen.

⁴ And shall se his face, & hys name shall be in theyr foreheades.
