⁹ Wherfore now will I go take my corne & wine againe in their season, and set agayne my woll and my flax, whyche I gaue her, to couer her shame.

¹⁸ In that daye shall the Lord take awaye the gorgyousnes of theyr apparel & spanges, chaynes, parlaftes, ¹⁹ and colares, bracelettes & hooues, ²⁰ the goodly floured wide & broderd rayment, brusshes & headebandes, ²¹ rynges and garlandes, ²² holye daye clothes & vales, kerchues & pynnes, ²³ glasses & smockes, bonettes and taches. ²⁴ And in steade of good smell there shalbe styncke amonge them. And for theyr gyrdles there shalbe louse bandes. And for well set hearre there shalbe baldnesse. In steade of a stomacker, a sackclothe, and for theyr bewtye wytherydnesse & sunneburninge. ²⁵ Their housbandes and theyr myghtye men shall perysh with the swerde in batell. ²⁶ At that time shal their gates mourne & complayne, and they shall sitte as desolate folck vpon the earth.

¹⁰ So shalt thou (O Damascus) be desolate because thou hast forgotten God thy Sauyoure, & hast not called to remembraunce the rocke of thy strength. Wherfore thou hast also set a fayr plat, & grafted a straung branch. ¹¹ In the day when thou diddest plant it, it was greate, and gaue sone the frute of thy sede. But in the daye of haruest, thou shalt reape and heape of sorowes and myseries.

²⁷ Beholde, I will stretch out mine hande ouer the, and will minishe the stoare of fode, & deliuer the ouer into the willes of the Philistines thine enemies, whiche are ashamed of thy abhominable waye.

³⁹ I will geue the ouer into their power, that shal breake doune thy stewes, and destroye thy brodel houses, they shall stryppe the oute of thy clothes, al thy fayre and beutyfull Iewels shall they take from the, and so let the syt naked and bare:

²⁶ They shall stripe the oute of thy clothes, and cary the costly Iewels away with them.

¹³ For the king of the north shal gather (of the new) a greater heape of people then afore, & come forth (after a certayne tyme & yeares) wyth a mighty hoste and exceadinge greate good.

³ Yf no I shal strype her naked and sette her, euen as she came into the worlde: yea, I shall lay her waste, and make her like a wildernesse, and slay her for thirst.

⁷ They haue sown wind therfore shall they reape a storme. Their sede shal beare no corne, there shal no meel be made of their increase: thoughe they reape, yet shall straungers deuoure it vp.

² Therfore shal they no more enioy the corneflores & winepresses, & their swete wine shall fayle them.

¹⁴ Then (no doute) he also shall turne, & forgeue: and after hys chasteninge, he shall let youre increase remayne, for meat & drynckeofferinges vnto the Lorde youre God?

¹³ Theyr goodes shalbe spoyled, and theyr houses layed waste: they shall buylde houses, and not dwel in them: they shal plant vyneyardes, but not drinck the wyne, therof.

⁶ ye sowe muche, but ye bryng lytle in: ye eate, but ye haue not ynoughe: ye drincke, but ye are not fylled, ye decke youre selues, but ye are not warme: and he that earneth any wage, putteth it in a broken purse. ⁷ Thus sayeth the Lorde of hostes: Consydre your owne wayes in your hertes, ⁸ get you vp to the mountayne, fetche wood, and buyld vp the house, that it maye be acceptable vnto me, and that I maye shewe myne honoure, sayeth the Lorde. ⁹ Ye loked for much, and lo, it is come to lytle: & thoughe ye bryng it home, yet do I blowe it awaye. And why so, sayeth the Lorde of hostes? Euen because that my house lyeth so waste, and ye runne euery man vnto hys owne house. ¹⁰ Wherfore the heauen is forbidden to geue you anye dewe, and the earthe is forbidden to geue you encrease. ¹¹ I haue called for a drouthe, both vpon the lande & vpon the mountaynes, vpon corne, vpon wyne, & vpon oyle, vpon euery thynge that the grounde bryngeth forth, vpon men and vpon catell, yea and vpon all handy laboure.

¹⁶ that when ye came to a corne heape of .xx. bushels, there were scarce ten: and that when ye came to the wyne presse for to powre oute .C. pottes of wyne, there were scarce .xx. ¹⁷ For I smote you wyth heate, blastynge and hayle stones in all the labours of your handes: yet was there none of you, that wolde turne vnto me, sayth the Lorde.

⁴ & though Edom sayd: wel, we are destroyed, we wyll go buylde vp agayne the places that be wasted: yet (sayeth the Lord of hostes) what they buylded, that brake I domie, so that is was called a cursed lande, and a people, whom the Lorde hath euer bene angrye withall.

¹⁸ Turne you therfore, and consydre what difference is betwyxt the ryghteous & vngodly: betwyxt him that serueth God, and him that serueth him not.
