⁶ And in this lande shall they dye, olde and yonge, and shall not be buryed: no man shall bewepe them, no man shall clyppe or shaue hym selfe for them.

²⁸ Ye shall not rent your fleshe for any soules sake, nor prynte any markes vpon you: I am the Lord:

¹ Ye are the chyldren of the lord your God, cut not your selues nor make you anye baldenesse betwene the eies for any mannes deth.

¹⁴ Therfore the Lorde shal rote oute of Israel bothe head & tayle, braunch and twigge in one daye. ¹⁵ By the heade, is vnderstande the Senatoure and honorable man, and by the tayle, the Prophet that preacheth lyes. ¹⁶ For al they whiche enfourme the people that they be in a righte case, suche be disceyuers. Suche as men thyncke also to be perfecte amonge these, are but cast awaye. ¹⁷ Therfore shall the Lorde haue no pleasure in their yonge men, neyther fauoure their fatherlesse and wyddowes. For they are all together ypocrytes and wicked, and all their mouthes speake foly. After all this shall not the Lordes wrathe ceasse, but yet his hande shalbe stretched oute still.

¹² And at the same tyme shall the Lorde of Hostes call men to wepinge, mourninge, to baldnesse & puttynge on of sacke clothe.

² Then shal the pryeste be as the people, the mayster as the seruaunt, the dame lyke the mayde, the seller lyke the byer he that lendeth vpon vsurye, lyke vnto him that boroweth vpon vsury, the creditoure, as the detter.

²⁹ Wherfore cut of thyne hearre, and cast it awaye, take vp a complaynte in the whole lande for the Lorde shal caste awaye, and scatre the people, that he is displeased withall.

¹³ Then shalt thou saye vnto them: Thus sayeth the Lorde: Beholde: I shall fyll all the inhabytours of this lande with dronckennes, the Kynges that syt vpon Dauids stole, the Prestes and Prophetes, with all that dwell at Ierusalem.

⁴ They shal dye an horrible deeth, no man shall mourne for them, ner burye them, but they shall lye as donge vpon the earth. They shall perishe thorow the swearde and honger, and their bodyes shall be meate for the foules of the ayre, & beastes of the earth.

¹⁸ And therfore, thus sayeth the Lorde agaynst Iehoakim, the sonne of Iosiah kynge of Iuda: They shall not mourne for hym (as they vse to do) alas brother, alas syster: Nether shall they saye vnto hym: Alas syre, alas for that noble prynce. ¹⁹ But as an Asse shall he be buried, corrupte and be cast without the gates of Ierusalem.

⁵ there came certayne men from Sichem, from Siloh and Samaria, to the nombre of .lxxx. whiche had shauen their beardes, rent their clothes, and were al heauy, bringyng meatofferynges, and incense in their handes, to offre it in the house of the Lord.

⁵ Baldnesse is come vpon Azah, Ascalon wyth her other valleys shall kepe her peace. Howe longe wylte thou slaye,

³⁷ All heades shalbe shauen, and all beardes clypped of: all handes bounde, and all loynes gyrded aboute with sackclothe.

⁵ And to the other, he sayde that I myght heare: Go ye after hym thorow the cytye, slaye, ouerse none, spare none: ⁶ kyl and destroye bothe olde men and yonge, maydens, chyldren, and wyues. But as for those, that haue thys marcke Than vpon them: se that ye touche them not, & begynne at my sanctuarye. Then they began at the elders, whiche were in the temple,

¹¹ Beholde, the Lorde is mynded to smyte the greate houses, so that they shall decaye: & the lytle houses, that they shall cleue a sunder.

¹⁵ And the kynges of the earth, & the greate men and the ryche men, and the chiefe captaines, and the myghty men, and euerye bonde man, and euery free man, hyd them selues in dennes, and in rockes:

¹² And I sawe the deade, both great and small stande before God: & the bokes were opened, & an other boke was opened, which is the boke of lyfe, and the dead were iudged of those thynges: which were wrytten in the bokes accordyng to theyr deedes:
