¹ And when the Saboth was past. Mary Magdalen, and Mary Iacobi, and Salome, boughte odours, that they myghte come & anoynt hym.

¹⁴ And they buryed hym in his owne sepulchre whiche he had made in the citie of Dauid, and layde hym in the bedde whyche he had filled with swete odoures of dyuerse kyndes, made by the crafte of the potecaryes. And they dyd exceadynge greate coste aboute buryeng of hym.

¹ The Saboth daye at euen which dauneth the morowe after the saboth. Mary Magdalene, & the other Marye came to se the sepulchre. ² And beholde there was a great earthquake. For the aungell of the Lorde descended from heauen: & came & rowled backe the stone from the dore, and sat vpon it. ³ His countenaunce was lyke lyghtnyng, & his raymente whyte as snowe. ⁴ And for feare of him the kepers were astonnied and became as dead men. ⁵ The aungel aunswered & sayd to the women: feare ye not. I knowe that ye seke Iesus, whiche was crucifyed: ⁶ he is not here: he is rysen as he sayd. Come & se the place where the Lord was put, ⁷ & go quickly & tel hys discyples that he is rysen from death. And behold, he wil go before you into Galile, there ye shall se hym. Lo, I haue tolde you. ⁸ And thei departed quickly from the sepulchre with feare & greate ioye: & dyd runne to bring hys disciples word. ⁹ And as they went to tell hys disciples: beholde, Iesus met them saying al hayle. And they came & helde him by the fete and worshypped him. ¹⁰ Then sayde Iesus vnto them: be not afrayd. Go and tel my brethren that they go into Galile, & there shal they se me.

³ When he was in Bethania, in the house of Simon the leper, euen as he sate at meate ther came a woman hauynge an alabaster boxe of oyntment called narde, that was pure & costly, and she brake the boxe and powred it on hys head.

⁸ She hath done that she coulde: she came afore hande to anoynte my body to hys buryenge warde.

⁴⁰ Ther were also women a good waye of beholdyng hym: among whom was Mary Magdalen, and Marye the mother of Iames the lytle, and of Ioses, & Mary Salome:

⁴² And now when night was come (because it was the euen that goeth before the Saboth)

⁴⁷ And Mary Magdalen & Marye Ioses behelde where he was layed.

⁴ And when they loked, they sawe howe the stone was rolled awaye: for it was a verye great one. ⁵ And they wente into the sepulchre, and sawe a yonge man syttyng on the ryght syde, clothed in a long white garment, & they were abashed.

⁸ And they wente oute quickly, and fled from the sepulchre. For they trembled and were amased. Neyther sayed they anye thynge to anye man, for they were afrayed.

⁵⁴ And that same day was the Saboth euen, and the Saboth drwe on.

⁵⁶ And they returned and prepared odours and ointmentes: but rested the Saboth daye, accordinge to the commaundemente.

²⁵ There stode by the crosse of Iesus his mother, and hys mothers sister. Marye the wyfe of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalen.

³¹ The Iewes then because it was the saboth euen, that the bodyes shoulde not remayne vpon the crosse on the saboth day (for that Saboth daye was an hye daye) besought Pylate that theyr legges myghte be broken, and that they myghte be taken doune.

³⁹ And there came also Nicodemus whiche at the begynnyng came to Iesus by nyght, and broughte of myrre & aloes myngled together aboute an hundred pounde wayght. ⁴⁰ Then toke they the body of Iesu, & wound it in lynnen clothes with the odoures, as the maner of the Iewes is to burye.

¹ The morowe after the Saboth daye came Mary Magdalene early when it was yet darcke, vnto the sepulchre, and saw the stone taken awaye from that toumbe. ² Then she ranne, and came to Simon Peter, and to the other discyple whom Iesus loued, and sayde vnto them. They haue taken away the Lorde out of the toumbe, and we cannot tell where they haue layde hym. ³ Peter went forth & that other disciple & came vnto the sepulchre. ⁴ They ranne both together, & that other disciple dyd out runne Peter, & came fyrste to the sepulchre. ⁵ And he stouped doune, and saw the lynnen clothes liyng, yet went he not in. ⁶ Then came Symon Peter folowyng him and wente into the sepulchre, and sawe the lynnen clothes lye, ⁷ and the napkyn that was aboute hys head, not liynge with the lynnen clothe, but wrapped together in a place by it selfe. ⁸ Then wente in also that other discyple which came fyrste to the sepulchre, and he saw & beleued. ⁹ For as yet they knew not the scriptures that he should ryse agayne from death. ¹⁰ And the discyples went awaye agayne vnto theyr owne home.
