Neuerthelater, it shalbe sprynkled with sprynklynge water. And all that suffreth not the fyre, ye shall make goo thorow the water. ²⁴ And wash youre clothes the seuenth day, and then ye are cleane. ¹⁵ Neuerthelesse, thou shalt go vnto thy fathers in peace, & shalt be buryed when thou arte of a good age:

³⁵ Vengeaunce is mine, and I wyll reward: theyr fete shall slyde, when the tyme cometh. For the tyme of theyr destruccion is at hand, & the tyme that shal come vpon them maketh hast.

¹⁰ And euen so all that generacyon were put vnto theyr fathers, & there arose another generacyon after them which nether knewe the Lord, nor yet the worckes which he dyd vnto Israel.

²⁴ And when the people sawe hym, they praised their God: for they sayd oure God hath delyuered into our handes oure enemye, that destroied oure countreye and slue manye of vs.

¹ O Lorde God, to whome vengeaunce belongeth: thou God to whome vengeaunce belongeth shewe thy self. ² Aryse thou iudge of the world & rewarde the proude after their deseruyng. ³ Lorde how longe shall the vngodly, how longe shall the vngodly triumphe?

²⁴ Therfore speaketh the Lorde God of hostes the myghtye one of Israel: Ah I muste ease me of myne enemyes, and avenge me vpon them.

² The Lorde is a gelous God, & a taker of vengeaunce: yee a taker of vengeaunce is the Lorde, and wrathfull. The Lord taketh vengeaunce of hys enemyes, and reserueth dyspleasure for his aduersaries.

²² For these be the dayes of vengeaunce, to fulfil all that are written.

³⁶ Howbeit Dauid after he had in hys tyme fulfylled the wyll of God, he slepte, and was layde with hys fathers, and sawe corrupcyon.

¹⁹ Derely beloued auenge not youre selues, but geue roume vnto the wrathe of God. For it is wrytten: vengeaunce is myne, and I wyll rewarde sayeth the Lorde.

⁴ For he is the minister of GOD, for thy welth. But and yf thou do euyll, then feare: for he beareth not a swearde for noughte, but is the minister of God, to take vengeaunce on them that do euyll.

⁶ that no man go to far and defraude his brother in bargaining: because the Lorde is a reuenger of al suche thinges as we tolde you before tyme and testified.

³⁰ For we knowe hym that hath sayde: vengeaunce belongeth vnto me. I wyll recompence sayth the lorde. And agayne: the lord shall iudge hys people.

¹⁰ and they cryed wyth a loude voyce sayinge: Howe longe tariest thou Lord holy and true, to iudge and to auenge oure bloud on them that dwell on the earth?

²⁰ Reioice ouer her thou heauen, and ye holy Apostles, & prophetes: for God hath geuen your iudgemente on her.

² for true and ryghteous are his iudgementes, for he hath iudged that great whore, whiche dyd corrupte the earth with her fornicacion, & hath auenged the bloude of his seruauntes of her hand.

⁹ And Moises sayde vnto Iosua: chose out men and goo fighte wt Amelech. Tomorow I wil stonde on the toppe of the hyll and the rood of God in myne hand. ¹⁰ And Iosua dyd as Moses bade hym, and foughte with the Amelechites. And Moses, Aaron and Hur went vp to the toppe of the hyll. ¹¹ And when Moses helde vp his hande, Israel had the better. And when he lete hys hande doune, Amelech had the better. ¹² When Moses handes were weery, they toke a stone & put it vnder hym, and he satte downe thereon. And Aaron and Hur stayed vp hys handes, the one on the one syde, and the other on the other syde. And hys handes were steady vntill the sunne was downe. ¹³ And Iosua discomfyted Amelech and his people with the edge of the swerde.

¹⁶ for he sayed: the hande is on the seate of the Lorde, that the Lorde wyll haue warre wyth Amelech thorow out all generations.

²⁵ I wyl send a swerd vpon you, that shall auenge my testament wyth you. And when ye are fledde vnto your cityes, I wyll sende the pestilence amonge you, ye shal be deliuered into the handes of your enemies.

²³ Curse Meroz bad the angell of the Lorde Curse, Curse the enhabytours therof because they came not forth to helpe the Lorde, to help the Lorde amonge the myghtye.

⁷ that thou sleye the housholde of Ahab thy mayster. For I (sayth the Lorde) wyll aduenge the bloud of my seruauntes the Prophetes, and the bloud of all the seruauntes of the Lorde, of the hand of Iezabel

³⁰ Then the Lorde sayde to Iehu, because thou hast lustely done that pleaseth me, and haste done to the house of Ahab all that was in myne herte, therfore shall thy chyldren in the fourthe generacyon sit on the seate of Israel.

¹⁰ So shall this daye be vnto the Lorde God of Hostes, a day of vengeaunce, that he maye avenge him of his enemies. The swearde shall deuoure, it shalbe satisfyed and bathed in their bloud For the Lorde God of Hostes shall haue a slayne offeringe towarde the North, by the water of Euphrates.

²⁸ Me thinke I heare all readye a crye, of them that be fled & escaped oute of the lande of Babylon, which shewe in Syon the vengeaunce of the Lorde oure God the vengeaunce of his temple, yea a voyce of them, that crye against Babylon:

⁸ And fyue of you shal chasse an hundred, & an hundred of you shall put .x. thousand to flyghte, and your enemies shall fall before you vpon the swerde.

⁸ And the sonnes of Aaron the preastes shal blowe the trompettes & shal haue them and it shalbe a lawe vnto you for euer and amonge youre chyldren after you. ⁹ And when ye shall go to warre in youre lande agaynst your enemyes that wexe you, ye shall trompe with the trompettes and ye shalbe remembred before the Lord your God and saued from youre enemyes.

⁴⁴ But they were blynded to go vp in to the hyll toppe: Neuer the latter, the arcke of the testament of the Lord and Moses departed not out of the hoste.

⁷ And when Phinehes the sonne of Eleazar the sonne of Aaron the prieste sawe it, he rose vp out of the company & toke a weapen in hys hand, ⁸ & went after the man of Israel into the hore house and thrust them thorow: both the man of Israel and also the woman euen thorowe the bealy of hyr. ¹³ & seuen priestes bare seuen trompettes of rammes hornes before the arcke of the Lord, & as they went blew with the hornes. And the men of armes went before them, & the common people came after the arcke of the Lorde, & as they wente, they blewe wyth the hornes. ¹⁴ And the seconde day they compased the citie once, & returned agayne into the hoste, & so they dyd .vi. dayes longe. ¹⁵ And the seuenth daye they rose erlye: euen with the dawnynge of the day, and compased the cytye after the same maner seuen tymes: onlye that they compased the cyty seuen times.

And as the men of Iuda shouted, God smote Ieroboam & all Israel before Abiah and Iuda.

¹³ And when the Lord thy God hath deliuered it into thine handes, smyte al the males therof wyth the egde of the swerde, ¹⁴ saue the wemen and the chyldren and the catel and all that is in the cytie and al the spoyle therof take vnto thy selfe & eate the spoyle of thyne enemyes whych the Lord thy God geueth the.

⁹ And Dauid smote the land & left nether man nor woman a lyue, & toke the shepe, the oxen, the asses, camelles, and clothes, and remoued and came to Achis.

And ye haue slayne them with cruelnesse that reacheth vp to heauen. ¹⁰ And now ye purpose to kepe vnder the chyldren of Iuda and Ierusalem and to make them bondemen & bondwemen. What other thynge do ye (ye vnhappye) then offende the Lorde youre God.

¹⁶ These are the sonnes of Ismael, & these are their names, in their townes & castels .xij. princes of nations.

²⁴ And they burnt the cytye with fyre, and al that was therein. Only the syluer, the golde, & the thynges of brasse, and yeron they put vnto the treasure of the house of the Lorde.

¹ Bvt yer Dauid and hys men were come to Zikeleg the third day, the Amalekites had runne in a runnynge vpon the south and vpon Zikeleg, and had smiten Zikeleg, and burnt wyth fyre

¹⁶ For Pharao kyng of Egypt went vp and toke Gazer, and burnte it wyth fyre, and slue the Cananites that dwelt in the cytye, & gaue it for a presente vnto hys doughter that was Salomons wyfe.

⁷ Youre lande lyeth waste, youre cyties are brent vp, youre enemyes deuoure your lande, and ye muste be fayne to stand, and loke vpon it: and it is desolate, as it were wyth enemyes in a battell.

⁸ Therfore shal her plages come at one daye, death, and sorowe, and honger, and she shalbe brente wyth fyre, for stronge is the Lorde God, whiche iudgeth her.

² And thou shalt do to Ai and her kynge, as thou dydest vnto Ierico and her kyng. Neuerthelesse the spoyle & catell therof, ye shall take vnto youre selues. But laye a watche vnto the toune on the backsyde therof.

¹ and the children of of Israel remoued & pytched in the feldes of Moab, on the other syde of Iordane, by Iericho.

¹⁷ And as he returned againe from the slaughter of Kedorlaomor & of the kings that were with hym, then came the kynge of Sodome to mete him in the vale of Saue, which now is called kinges dale.

² commaunde the chyldren of Israel that they put out of the host, al the leapers & all that haue yssues and al that are defyled vpon the dead,

¹¹ He that toucheth any dead person, shall be vncleane .vij. dayes.

¹² And they broughte the captyues and that which they had taken and all the spoyle vnto Moses and Eleazar the Preast and vnto the company of the children of Israel, euen vnto the hoste, in the feldes of Moab by Iordan nye to Iericho.

²² Golde, syluer, brasse, yron, tyn and leade, ²³ and all that may abyde the fyre, ye shall make it go thorow the fyre, & then it is cleane. Neuerthelater, it shalbe sprynkled with sprynklynge water. And all that suffreth not the fyre, ye shall make goo thorow the water. ²⁴ And wash youre clothes the seuenth day, and then ye are cleane. And afterward come into the hoste.

¹² And Samuel rose earlye, to mete Saul in the mornynge. And it was tolde Samuel that Saule was come to Carmell, and had set hym vp a pyller of triumphe. And was turned and departed and gone to Galgall.

²¹ And then Dauid came to the two hundred men that were to wery for to folowe Dauid, which they made to abyde at the ryuer Besor. And they came to mete Dauid and the people that were wyth hym. And when Dauid came to the people, he saluted them.

¹⁹ And as soone as he came nie vnto the host and sawe the calfe and the daunsynge, hys wrath waxed hote, and he cast the tables out of his hande, and brake them euen at the hylle fote.

²² And Aaron sayde: let not the wrath of my Lorde waxe fearse, thou knowest the people that they are euen sett on myschefe:

¹⁶ And Moses sought for the goote that was the synne offeryng, and se it was burnt. And he was angry wyth Eliazar & Ithamar the sonnes of Aaron, whyche were lefte a lyue saying:

³ But Moses was a very make man aboue al the men of the erth.

⁴⁸ And the offycers of thousandes of the hoste, the captaynes ouer the thousandes and the captaynes ouer the hundredes came forth & sayd vnto Moses:

¹³ And when Samuel was come to Saule, Saule sayde vnto hym: Blessed be thou in the Lorde. I haue done the commaundemente of the Lorde. ¹⁴ And Samuel aunswered: what meaneth then the bleatynge of the shepe in myne eares, & the noyse of the oxen whiche I heare?

⁴² And he sayde vnto the kinge: thus sayeth the Lorde: because thou hast let go a man, that ought to haue dyed, thy lyfe shal go for his lyfe, and thy people for hys.

¹⁹ And the man of God was angrye with him, and sayde: thou shuldest haue smyten fyue or syxe tymes, and then thou haddest smytten the Syryans tyl thou haddest consumed them: wher now thou shalt bete them but thryse.

²⁶ Be angrye, but synne not, let not the sunne go doune vpon your wrath,

³⁴ And we toke al his cyties the same ceason and destroyed al the cities with men, wemen and chyldren and let nothyng remayne,

¹³ And when the Lord thy God hath deliuered it into thine handes, smyte al the males therof wyth the egde of the swerde,

¹⁶ But in the cities of these nacions which the Lorde thy God geueth the to enheret, thou shalt saue alyue nothyng that breatheth. ¹⁷ But shalt destroy them with out redempcion, both the Hethites, the Amorites, the Cananites, the Pherezites, the Heuites & the Iebusites, as the Lord thy God hath commaunded the, ¹⁸ that thei teach you not to do after al their abhominacions which they do vnto their goddes, & so should synne agaynst the Lord your God.

²¹ and toke the cytye. And they vtterlye destroyed al that was in the cytye, bothe man and woman, younge & olde, oxe, shepe, & Asse, wyth the edge of the swerde.

²⁵ And al that fell that daye, both of men and women, were twelue thousand, euen all the men of Ai.

⁴⁰ And Iosua smote all the hille countreyes and the south countreys, and the valeyes, and the springes of water, with al their kinges, & let nought remayne, but vtterlye destroyed all that breathed, as the Lorde God of Israel commaunded.

¹⁴ but al the spoyle of the saide cyties and the catell, the children of Israell caughte vnto them selues: But the men onelye they smote with the edge of the swerde vntill they had destroyed them, and had lefte no breathe remaynyng.

³ Now therfor go & smyte the Amaleckites, & onelye destroy ye all that pertayneth vnto them, & se thou haue no compassion on them. But slay both man & woman, infant & sucklyng, & oxe, shepe, camell & Asse.

⁸ O daughter of Babilon, thou shalt come to mysery thyselfe: yea, happye shall he be, that rewardeth the as thou hast serued vs. ⁹ Blessed shall he be, that taketh thy chyldren, and throweth them agaynst the stones.

¹⁰ Cursed be he that doth the worcke of the Lorde negligentlye, and cursed be he that kepeth backe hys swearde from sheddynge of bloude.

⁶ kyl and destroye bothe olde men and yonge, maydens, chyldren, and wyues. But as for those, that haue thys marcke Than vpon them: se that ye touche them not, & begynne at my sanctuarye. Then they began at the elders, whiche were in the temple,

¹⁴ And now beholde, I go vnto my people: come let me shew the what thys people shall do to thy folke in the later dayes.

¹ And Israel dwelt in Sittim, and the people beganne to commytte whoredome wyth the daughters of Moab, ² whych called the people vnto the sacrifice of theyr Goddes. And the people ate & worshypped their Goddes, ³ and Israel coupled him selfe vnto Baal Peor. Then the Lorde was angry with Israel, ⁴ and sayed vnto Moses: take al the heades of the people, and hange them vp vnto the Lorde agaynste the sunne, that the wrathe of the Lorde maye turne away from Israel. ⁵ And Moses sayed vnto the iudges of Israel: go and slea those men that ioyned theym selues vnto Baal Peor. ⁶ And behold, one of the children of Israell came & broughte vnto hys brethren, a Madianitish wyfe euen in the syght of Moses & in the sighte of al the multitude of the children of Israel, as they were weppyng in the dore of the tabernacle of wytnes. ⁷ And when Phinehes the sonne of Eleazar the sonne of Aaron the prieste sawe it, he rose vp out of the company & toke a weapen in hys hand, ⁸ & went after the man of Israel into the hore house and thrust them thorow: both the man of Israel and also the woman euen thorowe the bealy of hyr. And the plage ceased from the children of Israel. ⁹ And ther dyed in the plage .xxiiij. thousand.

³ Youre eyes haue sene what the Lord dyd vnto Baal Peor: for all the men that folowed Baal Peor, the Lord your God hath destroyed among you.

¹⁷ Is the wicked deade of Peor to lyttell for vs, wherof we are not cleansed vnto this daye, & there was a plage in the congregacion of the Lorde:

²⁷ For an whore is a depe graue, and an harlot is a narow pyt.

²⁶ And I founde, that a woman is bytterrer then death: for she is a very angle, her herte is a net, and her handes are cheynes. Who so pleaseth God shall escape from her, but the synner wil be taken wt her.

² and when the Lord thy God hath sett them before the that thou shouldest smyt them se that thou vtterly destroye them and make no couenaunt with theym nor haue compassyon vppon theym. Also thou shalte make no maryages wyth theim,

¹¹ And this is that ye shal do: vtterlie destroye al the males & al the wemen that haue lyen by men. ¹² And they founde among the enhabiters of Iabes Galaad foure hundred damoselles vyrgynis, that had knowen no man by lying with any male. And they broughte them vnto the host to Siloh, which is in the land of Canaan.

⁴⁴ If thou wylte haue bondeseruauntes & maydens, thou shalt bye them of the Heathen that are round about you,

¹⁰ When thou goest to warre against thyne enemyes & the Lord thy God hath deliuered them into thyne handes & thou hast take them captyue, ¹¹ and seyst amonge the captyues a bewtyful woman & hast a fantasye vnto her that thou woldest haue her to thy wyfe. ¹² Then bryng her home to thine house and let her shaue her head & pare her nayles ¹³ & put her raiment that she was taken in from her, and let her remaine in thine house & bewepe her father and her mother a moneth longe & after that go in vnto her, & marie her & let her be thy wyfe. ¹⁴ And yf thou haue no fauoure vnto her, then let her go whether she lusteth: for thou mayest not sell her for moneye nor make cheuesaunce of her, because thou haste humbled her.

² They shall take the people, and cary them home with them. And the house of Israell shall haue them in possession for seruauntes and maydens in the lande of the Lorde. They shall take those presonners, whose captyues they had bene afore, and rule those that had oppressed them.

¹¹ He that toucheth any dead person, shall be vncleane .vij. dayes. ¹² And he shal purify him selfe wyth the ashes the thyrd daye and then he shall be cleane the seuenth day. And if he purify not hym selfe the thyrde daye, then the seueuth daye, he shal not be cleane. ¹³ Whosoeuer toucheth any person that dyeth & sprinkeleth not hym self, defileth the dwelling of the Lord: & therfore that soul shalbe roted out of Israel, bicause he hath not sprynkled the sprinkelynge water vpon hym he shal be vncleane, and hys vncleannesse shal raygne vpon hym. ¹⁴ This is the lawe of the man that dyeth in a tent: al that come into the tente and all that is in the tent, shalbe vnclene .vij. dayes. ¹⁵ And al the vessels that be open which haue no lid nor coueryng vpon them, are vncleane. ¹⁶ And whasoeuer toucheth one that is slayne wyth a swerde in the feldes, or a dead person, or a bone of a deade man, or a graue: shall be vncleane .vij. dayes. ¹⁷ And they shall take for an vncleane person of the burnt ashes of the synofferynge, & put runnynge water therto into a vessel, ¹⁸ And a cleane person shal take Isope & dippe it in the water, and sprinkle it vpon the tente & vpon al the vessels & on the soules that were there, & vpon hym that toucheth a bone or a slaine person or a dead body or a graue. ¹⁹ And the cleane person shal sprinkle vpon the vncleane the thyrde daye and the seuenth daye. And the seuenth day he shall purify him selfe and washe hys clothes and bathe hym selfe in water, and shalbe cleane at euen. ²⁰ If any be vncleane & sprinkle not him selfe the same soule shalbe destroied from among the congregation: for he hath defiled the holy place of the Lorde & is not sprinkeled wyth sprynling water, therfore is he vncleane. And this shalbe a perpetual lawe vnto them. And he that sprynkeleth the sprinkelyng water, shal wash his clothes. ²¹ And he that toucheth the sprynklyng water shall be vncleane vntyll euen. ²² And whatsoeuer the vncleane person toucheth, shal be vncleane. And the soule that toucheth it shal be vncleane vntil the euen.

⁸ But the worde of the Lorde came to me sayinge: thou hast shed muche bloude, and hast made many battelles. Thou shalt not buylt an house for my name, for thou hast shed muche bloude to the earthe in my syght.

² Then sayd Iacob vnto hys houshold & to all that were with him, put away the straunge Goddes that are amonge you, and make your selues cleane, and chaunge your garmentes,

¹⁰ And the Lord sayde vnto Moses: Go vnto the people & sanctifye them to daye & to morow, & let them washe their clothes:

¹⁴ This is the lawe of the man that dyeth in a tent: al that come into the tente and all that is in the tent, shalbe vnclene .vij. dayes. ¹⁵ And al the vessels that be open which haue no lid nor coueryng vpon them, are vncleane. ¹⁶ And whasoeuer toucheth one that is slayne wyth a swerde in the feldes, or a dead person, or a bone of a deade man, or a graue: shall be vncleane .vij. dayes.

²² And whatsoeuer the vncleane person toucheth, shal be vncleane. And the soule that toucheth it shal be vncleane vntil the euen.

¹⁶ These are the ordynaunces whyche the Lord commaunded Moses, betwene a man and hys wyfe, and betwene the father & hys daughter, beyinge a damsell in her fathers house.

³² And what soeuer any of the dead carkasses of them fall vpon, shalbe vncleane: whatsoeuer vessell of wood it be, or rayment, or skynne, or bagge or what soeuer thing it be that any worke is wroughte with all. And they shalbe plunged in the water, & be vncleane vntill the euen, and then they shallbe cleane agayne.

¹⁷ And all the clothes or furres wheron suche seed chaunseth shalbe wasshed wt water & be vncleane vnto the euen

⁷ And this do vnto them when thou cleansest them, sprynkle water of purifyenge vpon them and make a rasure to runne alonge vpon all the fleshe of them, and let them washe theyr clothes, and then they shal be cleane.

⁹ And one that is cleane shall goo and take vp the ashes of the kowe, and put them wythout the host in a cleane place, where they shall be kepte to make sprinkelynge water for the multitude of the children of Israel: for it is a synoffering

¹⁷ And they shall take for an vncleane person of the burnt ashes of the synofferynge, & put runnynge water therto into a vessel,

² When thou wentest in the water, I was by the, that the stronge floudes shuld not pluck the awaye. When thou walkest in the fyre, it shall not burne the, and the flame shall not kindle vpon the.

⁹ And the same thyrd part wil I bring thorow the fyre, & wil clense them, as the siluer is clensed: yea, & try them like as gold is tryed. Then shall they call vpon my name and I wyll heare them: I wyl saye: it is my people. And they shal say: Lorde my God.

² yf ye wyll not heare it, nor regarde it, to geue the glorye vnto my name, sayeth the lorde of hostes, I wyll sende a curse vpon you, and wyl cursle your blessinges: yea, curse them wil I yf ye do not take hede. ³ Behold, I shall corrupte your sede, and cast dong in your faces: turn the donge of your solempne feastes, & it shal cleue faste vpon you:

¹¹ I baptise you in water in token of repentaunce, but he that cometh after me is mightyer then I, whose shues I am not worthy to beare. He shal baptise you with the holy ghost and with fyre:

¹³ euerye mans worke shall appeare. For the daye shal declare it, & it shalbe shewed in fyre. And the fyre shall trye euery mannes worke, what it is.

²⁶ to sanctifye it, and cleansed it in the fountayne of water thorowe the worde

⁵ not of the dedes of rightuousnes, which we wrought but of hys mercy he saued vs, by the fountayne of the newe byrth, & with the renuyng of the holye ghost, ⁶ which he shed on vs aboundauntly, thorowe Iesus Christe oure sauyoure,

⁷ that youre faythe ones tryed beynge muche more precyous, then golde that perysheth (though it be tryed with fyre) myghte be founde vnto laude, glory, and honoure, at the apearynge of Iesus Christ

²¹ which signifyeth baptisme that nowe saueth vs, not the puttinge awaye of the fylth of the fleshe, but in that a good conscience consenteth to God, by the resurreccion of Iesus Christe,

¹² Dearely beloued, be not troubled in hys heate, whiche nowe is come amonge you to trye you as though some straunge thing had happened vnto you:

¹⁸ I counsel the to bye of me golde tryed in the fyre, that thou mayest be ryche, and whyte raymente, that thou mayest be clothed, that thy fylthye nakednes do not appere, & annointe thine eyes wyth eye salue, that thou maiest se.

²⁵ & whosoeuer bereth the carkasse of them, shall washe his clothes, & so shalbe vncleane vntyll euen.

⁹ When the seuenth day is come, he shal shaue of al hys heyre bothe vpon his heade & hys berde & on hys browes: & euen al the heyre that is on him, shalbe shauen of. And he shal wash hys clothes and his flesh in water, and then he shalbe cleane.

¹³ When he that hath an yssue is clensed of hys yssue, let him numbre .vij. dayes after he is cleane, & wasshe his clothes, and bath hys flesh in runnynge water, & then he is cleane.

¹⁹ And the cleane person shal sprinkle vpon the vncleane the thyrde daye and the seuenth daye. And the seuenth day he shall purify him selfe and washe hys clothes and bathe hym selfe in water, and shalbe cleane at euen.

⁸ he sayde vnto them, returne with much rychesse vnto youre tentes, and with very muche catell, wyth syluer gold, brasse, yeron, and with rayment aboue measure, and deuide the spoyle of youre enemyes wyth youre brethren.

⁴ Then Dauid & the people that was wt hym lyfte vp their voyces and wept, vntyl they coulde wepe no more.

²⁴ For who shoulde herken vnto you in this matter? But as his parte is that goeth & fighteth so good shal hys parte be, that taryeth by the stuffe, they shall part it a lyke. ²⁵ And so from that daye forward was that made a law and a custome in Israel, and dureth to thys day.

¹² Kynges wyth their armyes shall fle, and they of the housholde shall deuyde the spoile

²⁰ And blessed be God the most highest, which hath deliuered thyne enemies into thy handes. And Abram gaue hym tythes of all.

²¹ And behold I haue geuen the children of Leuy, the tenthe in Israell to enherite, for the seruice whych they serue in the tabernacle of wytnesse,

²⁶ speake vnto the Leuites and say vnto them: when ye take of the chyldren of Israel the tithes whych I haue geuen you of them to your enheritaunce, ye shall take an heaueoffering of that same for the Lorde: euen the tenthe of that tythe.

³⁰ And of the halfe of the chyldren of Israel, take one of fyfty, of the wemen, of the oxen, of the asses and of the shepe, and of all maner of beastes, and geue them vnto the leuites which wayte vpon the habitacyon of the Lord.

⁴⁷ And Moses toke of this halfe that pertayned vnto the chyldren of Israel: one of euery fyftye, both of the wemen and of the catel, and gaue them vnto the Leuites whyche wayted vpon the habitacion of the Lorde, as the Lorde commaunded Moses.

¹⁹ But of the syluer, golde, vesselles of brasse, & yron shalbe holye vnto the Lorde, and shall go in to hys treasurye.

¹¹ And them also kynge Dauid dyd dedicate vnto the Lorde wyth the syluer and gold that he consecrated of all nacyons whiche he subdued: ¹² of the Syryans, the Moabytes, the chyldren of Ammon the Phylystines, the Amaleckites, and of the spoyle of Adadezer sonne of Rehob kynge of Zobah.

¹¹ And king Dauid dedicated them also vnto the Lord wt the syluer & goulde that he brought from all nacyons, from the Edomites, from the Moabites, from the children of Ammon, from the Philistines, & from the Amalechites.

²⁶ which Selomith and hys brethren were ouer all the treasures of the dedycate gyftes which Dauid the king, & the auncyent heades of the captaynes ouer thousandes & hundredes, and the capitaynes of the hoste had dedicated ²⁷ of the spoyle wonne in battell, to mayntayne the house of the Lord:

⁹ Honour the Lord with thy substaunce, & with the firstlinges of all thyne encrease: ¹⁰ so shall thy barnes be filled with plenteousnesse, and thy presses shall flowe ouer with swete wyne.

⁷ Then shall there be a present brought vnto the Lord of Hostes, euen that harde folke, that fearful folke, and that forther is then thys: that desperate and pylled folke (whose lande is deuided from vs with floudes of water) vnto the place of the name of the Lorde of Hostes: euen vnto the hyll of Syon.

¹⁸ But al her occupyinge and winninge shalbe halowed vnto the Lorde. For then shal they laye vp nothinge behind them, nor vpon heapes: but the marchaundyse of Tyrus shall belong vnto the cytesins of the Lorde, to the feadynge and susteninge of the hungrye, and to the clothinge of the aged.

⁹ The Iles also shall gather them vnto me, and specially the shippes of the sea: that they maye bringe the sonnes from farre, and their syluer and their goulde with them, vnto the name of the Lorde thy God, vnto the holye one of Israel, that hath glorifyed the.

²¹ They sayed vnto him: Cesars. Then sayed he vnto them: Gyue therfore to Cesar, that which is Cesars: And gyue vnto God, that which is Goddes.

²⁷ And sanctify the brest of the waueoffrynge and the shoulder of the heueoffrynge whyche is waued and heued vp of the ram which is the fulloffringe of Aaron and of his sonnes.

¹² And ye shall reioyce before the Lord your God, boeth ye youre sonnes & youre daughters, youre seruauntes and youre maydes, and the Leuite that is within in your gates for he hath neither part nor enheritaunce with you.

¹⁹ And beware that thou forsake not the Leuite as longe as thou lyuest vpon the earth.

⁷ & vpon al the multitude, before the tabernacle of witnes, to do the seruyce of the habitation. ⁸ And they shall wayte vpon all the apparell of the tabernacle of wytnesse, & vpon the chyldren of Israel, to do the seruise of the habitation.

²⁵ And the office of the children of Gerson in the tabernacle of wytnes was to kepe the habitation & the tent with the couerynge therof and the hanginge of the dore of the tabernacle of wytnesse,

³¹ & their office was to kepe the arcke, the table, the candilsticke, & the altare & the holye vessels to minister wt & the vayle wyth all that serued thereto.

³⁶ And the offyce of the sonnes of merari was to kepe the bordes of the dwellyng & the barres, pyllers wt the sockets therof, and all the instrumentes therof & al that serued therto: ³⁷ and the pillers of the court rounde aboute & their sockettes with their pynnes & cordes. ³⁸ But on the forefront of the habitacion & before the tabernacle of wytnesse eastward, shal Moses & Aaron & hys sonnes pytch, & wayte on the sanctuary in the steade of the chyldren of Israel. And the straunger that cometh nye, shal dye for it. ³⁹ And the whole summe of the Leuites whiche Moses & Aaron numbred, at the commandement of the Lord thorow out their kynredes, euen of all the males of a moneth old & aboue, was .xxij. thousande.

¹ And the Lorde sayed vnto Aaron. Thou and thy sonnes, and thy fathers house wyth the, shall bear the faulte of that whyche is done amysse in the holye place. And thou & thy sonnes wyth the, shal beare the fault of that whyche is done amysse in your priesthode. ² And thy brethren also the trybe of Leui, the trybe of thy father take wyth the, and let them be ioyned vnto the, and minister vnto the. And thou and thy sonnes wyth the shall minister before the tabernacle of wytnes. ³ And let them wayte vp the & vpon al the tabernacle: onely let them not come nye the holy vesselles & the alter, that boeth they & ye also dye not. ⁴ And let them be by the and wayte on the tabernacle of wytnesse, and on all the seruyce of the tabernacle, and let no straunger come nye vnto you. ⁵ Wayte therfore vpon the holy place and vpon the alter, that there fal no more wrath vpon the chyldren of Israel:

²³ And the Leuites shal do the seruyce in the tabernacle of wytnes and beare theyr synne, & it shal be a lawe for euer vnto youre chyldrene after you: But amonge the children of Israel they shall enherete none enherytannce. ²⁴ For the tythes of the chyldren of Israell whych they heaue vnto the Lorde, I haue geuen the Leuites to enherite. Wherfore I haue said vnto them: Among the children of Israel ye shal enherite none enheritaunce. ²⁵ And the Lord spake vnto Moses saying: ²⁶ speake vnto the Leuites and say vnto them: when ye take of the chyldren of Israel the tithes whych I haue geuen you of them to your enheritaunce, ye shall take an heaueoffering of that same for the Lorde: euen the tenthe of that tythe. ²⁷ And it shall be rekened vnto you for your heaueofferynge, euen as though ye gaue corne out of the barne or a fulofferyng from the wyne presse. ²⁸ And of this maner ye shal heaue an heaueofferynge vnto the Lorde, of all your tythes whyche ye receyue of the chyldren of Israel and ye shal gyue therof the lordes heaueofferyng vnto Aaron the prieste.

²⁸ And take a porcion vnto the Lord of the men of warre which went out to battell: one of fyue hundred, of the wemen and of the oxen and of the asses and of the shepe:

²⁷ & laye all nyghte roundabout the house of God: because the kepyng therof pertayned to them, and to open it euery mournynge. ²⁸ And certain of them had the rule of the ministring vessels and brought them in & oute by tale. ²⁹ And of them were certain apoynted to ouerse the vessels & al holy ornamentes, & of the floure, wine, oyle, frankincense & swete odoures.

³² And that they shoulde wayte on the tabernacle of wytnesse and on the holy place, and on the sonnes of Aaron their brethren, in the seruice of the house of the Lorde.

²⁰ And of the Leuites Ahiah had the ouersight of the treasure of the house of God, and of the treasure of the dedicate thynges. ²¹ As concernynge the sonnes of Laadan whiche were Gersonites. Laadan had auncyent fathers. Laadan the Gersonite had Iehieli. ²² The sonnes of Iehieli: Zethan & Ioel his brother, which were ouer the treasures of the house of the Lorde. ²³ Amonge the Amramites, Izaharites, Hebronites & Ozielites, ²⁴ was Subuel the sonne of Gerson the sonne of Moses a ruler ouer the treasure. ²⁵ And of hys brethren the sonnes of Eliezer, was Rahabiah, whose sonne was Isaiah, & his sonne was Ioram, & hys sonne Zechri, and hys sonne was Selomith,

²⁸ Take hede therfore vnto youre selues, and to all the flocke wherof the holy ghoste hath made you ouersears, to rule the congregacyon of God, which he hath purchased wt hys bloude.

² Furthermore it is requyred of the dysposers, that they be found faithfull.

¹³ Do ye not vnderstande howe that they whiche minister in the temple, haue their fyndynge of the temple? And they whych wayte at the aulter, are partakers of the aulter? ¹⁴ Euen so also dyd the Lord ordaine, that they which preach the Gospel, shoulde lyue of the Gospell.

¹⁷ And saye to Archippus: take hede to the offyce that thou hast receyued in the Lord, that thou fulfill it.

¹⁷ Obeye them that haue the ouersyghte of you, and submyt your selues to them, for they watche for youre soules, euen as they that muste geue accomptes: that they maye do it wyth ioye, and not wyth griefe. For that is an vnprofytable thynge for you.

⁹ And al heaue offerynges of all the halowed thynges which the chyldren of Israel bryng vnto the preaste, shalbe the preastes,

⁸ And the Lorde spake vnto Aaron: behold I haue geuen the, the kepyng of mine heueofferynges in al the halowed thynges of the chyldren of Israel. And vnto the I haue geuen them vnto anoyntynge and to thy sonnes: to be a dutye for euer.

¹⁹ al the holy heaueofferinges whych the chyldren of Israel heaue vnto the Lorde, I gyue the and thy sonnes and thy daughters with the to be a duti foreuer. And it shalbe a salted couenaunte for euer, before the Lorde: vnto the and thy seed wyth the.

²⁹ and ye shal take it of their halfe and geue it vnto Eleazar the preast, an heaueofferynge vnto the Lorde. ³⁰ And of the halfe of the chyldren of Israel, take one of fyfty, of the wemen, of the oxen, of the asses and of the shepe, and of all maner of beastes, and geue them vnto the leuites which wayte vpon the habitacyon of the Lord. ³¹ And Moses and Eleazar the preast did as the Lorde commaunded Moses.

¹⁰ nor yet scrip towardes your yourney: neither two cotes neyther shues, nor yet a staste. For the worck man is worthye to haue his meate.

¹⁰ Either saith he it not altogether for our sakes? For our sakes no doubte this is written: that he whiche eareth, shoulde eare in hope: & that he whych thresheth in hope, should be partaker of hys hope. ¹¹ Yf we sowe vnto you spyrytuall thinges: is it a great thinge yf we reape youre carnall thinges. ¹² Yf other be partakers of this power ouer you: wherfore are not we rather? Neuerthelesse we haue not vsed thys power but suffer all thinges leste we shoulde hinder the Gospell of Christe

⁶ Let hym that is taughte in the worde, mynyster vnto him that teacheth hym, in al good thynges.

¹⁷ The elders that rule well, are worthye of double honoure, most specyally they whiche laboure in the worde and in teachynge.

⁴ Consyder what a man this was, vnto whom the patriarke Abraham gaue tythes of the spoyles. ⁵ And verely those chyldren of Leuy, which receyue the offyce of the priestes, haue a commaundemente to take accordynge to the lawe, tythes of the people, that is to say of theyr brethren, yea thoughe they spronge oute of the loynes of Abraham. ⁶ But he whose kynred is not counted amonge them, receyued tythes of Abraham, and blessed hym that had the promises.

⁹ And to say the trueth. Leuy hym selfe also whiche receyueth tythes, payed tythes in Abraham. ¹⁰ For he was yet in the loynes of hys father Abraham when Melchysedech mete hym. ¹¹ Yf nowe therfore perfeccyon came by the priesthode of the Leuytes (for vnder that presthode the people receyueth the lawe) what nedeth furthermore that another prieste shoulde aryse after the ordre of Melchisedech, and not after the ordre of Aaron? ¹² Nowe no doubte, yf the priesthode be translated, then of necessitye must the lawe be translated also.

²¹ And behold I haue geuen the children of Leuy, the tenthe in Israell to enherite, for the seruice whych they serue in the tabernacle of wytnesse, ²² that the chyldren of Israell henceforth come not nye the Tabernacle of wytnesse, and beare synne and dye. ²³ And the Leuites shal do the seruyce in the tabernacle of wytnes and beare theyr synne, & it shal be a lawe for euer vnto youre chyldrene after you: But amonge the children of Israel they shall enherete none enherytannce. ²⁴ For the tythes of the chyldren of Israell whych they heaue vnto the Lorde, I haue geuen the Leuites to enherite. Wherfore I haue said vnto them: Among the children of Israel ye shal enherite none enheritaunce.

¹⁷ Thou maiste not eate wythin thy gates the tythe of thy corne, of thy wine & of thy oyle, eyther the fyrstborne of thyne oxen or of thy shepe, neither any of thy vowes which thou vowest, nor thy frewil offeringes or heueofferynges thyne handes: ¹⁸ but thou muste eate them before the Lorde thy God, in the place whych the Lorde thy God hath chosen: both thou, thy sonne, & thy daughter, thy seruaunt & thy mayde, & the Leuite that is wythin thy gates: & thou shalte reioyce before the Lorde thy God, in al that thou puttest thine hande to. ¹⁹ And beware that thou forsake not the Leuite as longe as thou lyuest vpon the earth.

¹ The song of the steares Behold, O praise the Lord, al ye seruantes of the Lorde, ye that by night stande in the house of the Lord.

¹⁰ For hys watch men are al blind, they haue altogether no vnderstandyng, they are al domme dogges, not beyng able to barcke, they are slepery: slogish are they, & lye snortynge: ¹¹ they are shamelesse dogges, that be neuer satisfyed. The sheperdes also in lyke maner haue no vnderstanding but euery man turneth his owne way, euery one after his owne couetousnes with all hys power.

¹ After these thynges, the Lord appoynted other seuentye also: and sent them, two & two before him into euery citie and place, whyther he hym selfe woulde come. ² And he sayed vnto them, the haruest is great, but the laborers are fewe. Praye therfore the Lorde of the harueste, to sende forth laborers into hys haruest. ³ Go youre wayes: beholde, I sende you forth as lambes among wolues. ⁴ Beare no wallet neyther scryppe, nor shues, and salute no man by the way. ⁵ Into whatsoeuer house ye enter, fyrste saye: Peace be to thys house. ⁶ And yf the sonne of peace be there your peace shal reste vpon hym: yf not, it shal returne to you agayne. ⁷ And in the same house tary styll, eatynge and drinckynge suche as they haue. For the labourer is worthy of thys rewarde. Go not from house to house, ⁸ & into whatsoeuer citie ye enter, yf they receyue you, eate suche thynges as are set before you,

¹² We beseche you brethren, that ye knowe them, whiche laboure amonge you, and haue the ouersight of you in the Lord ¹³ and geue you exhortacyon, that ye haue them the more in loue for theyr workes sake, and be at peace wyth them.

¹⁸ And Dauid recouered all that the Amalekites had caryed awaye, and his two wyues, ¹⁹ so that there was no persone lackynge smal or great, sonne or doughter, or of the spoyle of all that they had take awaye, Dauid brought all againe.

¹⁴ He shall delyuer their soules from extorcyon and wrong, and deere shall their bloud be in hys sight.

⁹ That the saiynge myght be fulfylled which he spake: of them which thou gauest me, haue I not loste one.

¹² when thou takest the summe of the children of Israel and tellest them, they shal geue euery man a reconcylynge of his soule vnto the Lorde that there be no plage amonge them when thou tellest them.

¹⁵ The ryche shall not passe, and the poore shall not go vnder halfe a syckle, when they geue an heue offeringe vnto the Lorde for the attonemente of their soules. ¹⁶ And thou shalt take the reconcilynge mony of the children of Israell and shalt put it vnto the vse of the tabernacle of witnesse, and it shall be a memorial of the chyldren of Israell before the Lord, to make an attonement for their soules.

¹¹ for the lyfe of the flesh is in the bloud, and I haue geuen it vnto you vpon the alter, to make an attonement for youre soules,

¹⁵ O that men wolde prayse the goodnesse of the Lord, and the wonders that he doth for the chyldren of men.

²¹ O that men woulde prayse the goodnesse of the Lord, and the wonders that he doth for the chyldren of men. ²² That they wolde offre vnto him the sacrifice of thankesgeuyng, & tell out hys workes with gladnes.

¹² What rewarde shall I geue vnto the Lorde, for all the benyfytes that he hath done vnto me?

¹⁷ I wyl offre to the sacrifyce of thanckesgegeuynge, and wyll call vpon the name of the Lord.

² then the prynces of Israell heades ouer the houses of their fathers whyche were the Lordes of the tribes that stode and numbred, ³ offered and broughte theyr gyftes before the Lorde sixe couered charettes & .xii. oxen: two and two a charette and an oxe euery manne, and they broughte them before the habytation, ⁴ And the Lorde spake vnto Moses saynge ⁵ take it of them & let them be to do the seruyce of the tabernacle of wytnesse, and geue them vnto the Leuites, euery man acordyng vnto his office ⁶ And Moses toke the charetes and the oxen, gaue them vnto the Leuytes

³² And the botye and the praye which the men of warre had caught was .vi. hundred thousande and .lxxv. thousand shepe:

¹⁶ And thou shalt take the reconcilynge mony of the children of Israell and shalt put it vnto the vse of the tabernacle of witnesse, and it shall be a memorial of the chyldren of Israell before the Lord, to make an attonement for their soules.

⁴⁰ to be a remembraunce vnto the children of Israel, that no straunger which is not of the seed of Aaron, come nere to offer cense before the Lord, that he be not made lyke vnto Corah and hys companye: as the Lord sayd vnto hym by the hand of Moses.

⁷ then say vnto them, how that the water of Iordan deuyded at the presence of the arcke of the appoyntmente of the Lord: euen while it went ouer Iordan, the water of Iordan deuyded. And these stones shalbe a memoryall vnto the chyldren of Israel for euer.

⁴⁹ For this cause I wyll geue thankes vnto the (O lorde) among the gentiles, and synge prayses vnto thy name.

¹ Of Dauid. Prayse the Lorde O my soule: & all that is within me prayse hys holy name. ² Prayse the Lord O my soule & forget not all his benefites.

¹ Not vnto vs, O Lorde not vnto vs. but vnto thy name geue the praise for thy louing mercye & faythfulnesse.

⁷ The memorial of thyne aboundant kyndnes shalbe shewed, & men shall synge of thy righteousnesse.

¹⁴ And the crounes shalbe in the temple of the Lorde, for a remembraunce vnto Helem, Tobiah, Idaia, and Hen the sonne of Sophony. And suche as be farre of, shal come and buylde the temple of the Lorde,

¹⁹ And he toke bread, gaue thankes brake it, & gaue it to them, saiynge: This is my body which is geuen for you. This is the remembraunce of me.

⁴ When he loked on hym he was afraid and said, what is it Lord? He sayed vnto hym: Thy prayers and all thy almeses are come vp into remembraunce before God.
