⁸ He that Imagyneth myschefe, maye welbe called an vngracious personne.

⁴⁴ And then the kinge sayde to Semei: thou remembrest all the wyckednesse whych thyne hert knoweth that thou diddest to Dauid my father. The Lorde therfore render agayn thy wyckednesse vpon thyne owne heade:

¹¹ For they intended mischief agaynst the, & ymagined suche deuyces, as they were not able to perfourme.

¹⁴ he is euer ymagining mischefe and frowardnesse in his hert, & causeth dsscord.

¹⁸ an hert that goeth about with wicked ymaginacions, fet that be swift in rening to do mischefe,

²² They that ymagyn wyckednes, shall be disapoynted: but they that muse vpon good thinges, vnto suche shall happen mercy and faythfulnesse.

² For their herte imagineth to do hurte, and their lippes talke of mischiefe.

⁹ The thoughte of the folysh is synne, & the scorneful is an abhominacion vnto men.

⁷ How be it, his meaninge is not so, neither thincketh his hert of this fasshion. But he ymagineth only, how he may ouerthrowe and destroye muche people, ⁸ for he sayth: are not my princes al kinges? ⁹ Is not Calno as easye to winne, as Charchamis? Is it harder to conquere Antiochia then Arphad? Or is it lyghter to ouercome Damascus then Samaria? ¹⁰ As wo say: I were able to winne the kingedome of the Idolatres and their Goddes, but not Ierusalem and Samaria. ¹¹ Shall I not do vnto Ierusalem and their ymages, as I dyd vnto Samaria and their ymages? ¹² Wherfore the Lorde sayeth: As sone as I haue perfourmed my whole worcke vpon the hyll of Sion and Ierusalem, then wyll I also vpset the noble and stoute kynge of Assiria, wyth his wisedom and pryde. ¹³ For he standeth thus in hys owne conceyte. Thys do I thorow the power of myne owne hand, and thorowe my wysedome: For I am wyse I am he that remoue the landes of the people I robbe the princes, and (lyke one of the worthies) I dryue them from their hye seates.

⁷ These are the perlous weapons of the couetous, these be hys shamefull councels: that he maye begyle the poore with disceatfull workes, yea euen there as he shuld geue sentence with the poore.

¹⁰ Moreouer, thus sayeth the Lorde God: At the same tyme shall manye thynges come in to thy mynde, so that thou shalt ymagyn myschefe, ¹¹ & saye: I will vp to yonder playne lande, seing they syt at ease, and dwell so safely (for they dwell all wythout any walles, they haue nether barres nor dores)

¹¹ There come oute of the soche as Imagin meschefe, & geue vngracious councell agaynst the Lorde.
