¹ Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.

² and they called the people to the sacrifices of their gods; and the people ate, and bowed down to their gods.

²¹ Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight.

¹⁰ For you have trusted in your wickedness; you have said, No one sees me; your wisdom and your knowledge, it has perverted you, and you have said in your heart, 'I am, and there is no other besides me.'

¹⁰ Now therefore why do you tempt God, that you should put a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

¹⁹ "Therefore my judgment is that we do not trouble those from among the non-Jewish people who turn to God, ²⁰ but that we write to them that they abstain from things defiled by idols, from sexual immorality, from what is strangled, and from blood.

²⁹ that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality, from which if you keep yourselves, it will be well with you. Farewell."

²⁵ But concerning the non-Jewish who believe, we have written our decision that they should keep themselves from food offered to idols, from blood, from strangled things, and from sexual immorality."

²⁵ For I do not desire you to be ignorant, brothers, of this mystery, so that you won't be wise in your own conceits, that a partial hardening has happened to Israel, until the fullness of the non-Jews has come in,

¹⁶ Be of the same mind one toward another. Do not be arrogant, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own conceits.

³ Do not let the one who eats despise the one who does not eat. Do not let the one who does not eat judge the one who eats, for God has accepted him.

¹⁰ But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.

¹⁴ I know, and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean of itself; except that to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

²² The faith you have, keep between yourself and God. Happy is the one who does not judge himself in that which he approves.

¹⁴ I myself am also persuaded about you, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish others.

⁵ that in everything you were enriched in him, in all speech and all knowledge;

¹⁰ We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You have honor, but we have dishonor.

¹⁸ Now some are puffed up, as though I were not coming to you.

² You are puffed up, and did not rather mourn, that he who had done this deed might be removed from among you.

⁶ Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little yeast leavens the whole lump?

² But if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he does not yet know as he ought to know.

⁴ Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that no idol is anything in the world, and that there is no God but one.

⁷ However, not all have this knowledge. But some, being so accustomed to idols until now, eat as of a thing sacrificed to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.

¹⁰ For if someone sees you who have knowledge sitting in an idol's temple, won't his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols? ¹¹ And through your knowledge, he who is weak perishes, the brother for whom the Christ died.

¹⁹ What am I saying then? That a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything? ²⁰ But I say that the things which pagans sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God, and I do not desire that you would have fellowship with demons. ²¹ You cannot both drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot both partake of the table of the Lord, and of the table of demons. ²² Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?

²⁸ But if anyone says to you, "This was offered to idols," do not eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for the sake of conscience.

¹ If I speak with the tongues of humans and of angels, but do not have love, I have become sounding bronze, or a clanging cymbal. ² If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. ³ If I dole out all my goods to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body so that I may boast, but do not have love, it profits me nothing. ⁴ Love is patient and is kind; love does not envy. Love does not brag, is not proud, ⁵ does not behave itself inappropriately, does not seek its own way, is not irritable, does not keep a record of wrongs; ⁶ does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; ⁷ bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. ⁸ Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will be done away with. Where there are tongues, they will cease. Where there is knowledge, it will be done away with. ⁹ For we know in part, and we prophesy in part; ¹⁰ but when that which is complete has come, that which is partial will be done away with. ¹¹ When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child. Now that I have become an adult, I have put away childish things. ¹² For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, even as I was also fully known. ¹³ But now faith, hope, and love remain—these three. The greatest of these is love.

²⁰ Brothers, do not be children in thoughts, yet in malice be babies, but in thoughts be mature.

³⁴ Become sober-minded, and do not sin, for some are ignorant about God. I say this to your shame.

¹⁶ from whom all the body, being fitted and knit together through that which every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, makes the body increase to the building up of itself in love.

¹⁸ Let no one rob you of your prize by a voluntary humility and worshipping of the angels, dwelling in the things which he has seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

¹⁴ But I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to throw a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality.

²⁰ But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman, Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. She teaches and seduces my servants to commit sexual immorality, and to eat things sacrificed to idols.
