¹ The high priest said, "Are these things so?"

⁶¹ and said, "This man said, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.'" ⁶² The high priest stood up, and said to him, "Have you no answer? What is this that these testify against you?"

⁵⁸ "We heard him say, 'I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands.'" ⁵⁹ Even so, their testimony did not agree. ⁶⁰ The high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, "Have you no answer? What is it which these testify against you?"

¹⁹ The high priest therefore asked Jesus about his disciples, and about his teaching. ²⁰ Jesus answered him, "I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues, and in the temple, where all the Jewish people come together. I said nothing in secret. ²¹ Why do you ask me? Ask those who have heard what I spoke to them; surely they know what I said."

³³ Pilate therefore entered again into the Praetorium, called Jesus, and said to him, "Are you the King of the Jews?" ³⁴ Jesus answered him, "Do you say this by yourself, or did others tell you about me?" ³⁵ Pilate answered, "I'm not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests delivered you to me. What have you done?"

¹³ and set up false witnesses who said, "This man never stops speaking blasphemous words against this holy place and the Law. ¹⁴ For we have heard him say that this Jesus the Nazorean will destroy this place, and will change the customs which Moses delivered to us."
