¹⁶ Terror and dread falls on them. By the greatness of your arm they are as still as a stone—until your people pass over, LORD, until the people pass over who you have purchased.

⁷ But against any of the children of Israel a dog won't even bark or move its tongue, against man or animal; that you may know that the LORD makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.

⁵ Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice, and keep my covenant, then you shall be my own possession from among all peoples; for all the earth is mine; ⁶ and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation.' These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel."

²⁷ I will send my terror before you, and will confuse all the people to whom you come, and I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you.

²⁵ This day will I begin to put the dread of you and the fear of you on the peoples who are under the whole sky, who shall hear the report of you, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of you."

²⁵ No man shall be able to stand before you: the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you on all the land that you shall tread on, as he has spoken to you.

⁶ Do you thus requite the LORD, foolish people and unwise? Isn't he your father who has bought you? He has made you, and established you.

⁹ For the LORD's portion is his people. Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

⁹ and she said to the men, "I know that the LORD has given you the land, and that the fear of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you.

⁹ He will guard the feet of his faithful ones, but the wicked will be put to silence in darkness. For no man will prevail by strength.

³⁷ It happened in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, that his wife told him these things, and his heart died within him, and he became as a stone.

²³ And who is like your people Israel, the one nation on earth whom God went out to redeem to be a people for himself, and to make a name for yourself, and to do great and awesome deeds by driving out before your people, whom you redeemed for yourself from Egypt, a nation and its gods?

² Remember your congregation, which you purchased of old, which you have redeemed to be the tribe of your inheritance; Mount Zion, in which you have lived.

¹ But now thus says the LORD who created you, Jacob, and he who formed you, Israel: "Do not be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name. You are mine. ² When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and the flame will not scorch you. ³ For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I have given Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place.

¹⁰ Isn't it you who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep; who made the depths of the sea a way for the redeemed to pass over?

¹¹ For the LORD has ransomed Jacob, and redeemed him from the hand of him who was stronger than he.

²⁸ Watch out for yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which he purchased with his own blood.

¹⁴ who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good works.

⁹ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

¹ But false prophets also arose among the people, as false teachers will also be among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, denying even the Master who bought them, bringing on themselves swift destruction.
