And it was so. ²⁷ And God created humankind in his own image. In God's image he created him; male and female he created them. ²⁸ And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the flying creatures of the sky, and over all the tame animals, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over all the creatures that crawl on the earth." ²⁹ And God said, "Look, I have given you every plant yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food. ³⁰ And to every wild animal of the earth, and to every tame animal of the earth, and to every flying creature of the sky, and to every creature that crawls on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green plant for food." ³¹ And God saw everything that he had made, and look, it was very good. There was evening and there was morning, a sixth day.

⁶ You are the LORD, even you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their army, the earth and all things that are on it, the seas and all that is in them, and you preserve them all. The army of heaven worships you.

²⁶ Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these, who brings out their host by number. He calls them all by name; by the greatness of his might, and because he is strong in power, not one is lacking.

²⁸ And now, haven't you known? Haven't you heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the farthest parts of the earth, doesn't faint. He isn't weary. His understanding is unsearchable.

⁹ and to bring to light for all what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God, who created all things;

¹⁶ For by him all things were created, in the heavens and on the earth, things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities; all things have been created by him and for him. ¹⁷ He is before all things, and in him all things are held together.

⁶ and swore by him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things that are in it, the earth and the things that are in it, and the sea and the things that are in it, that there will no longer be delay,

⁷ He said with a loud voice, "Fear God, and give him glory; for the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and the springs of waters."

⁶ He said to me, "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give freely to him who is thirsty from the spring of the water of life.

¹² Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and marked off the sky with his span, and calculated the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance? ¹³ Who has known the mind of the LORD, or who has instructed him as his counselor? ¹⁴ From whom did he take counsel with, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding? Or who has first given to him, and it will be repaid to him again?

²³ I saw the earth, and, look, it was waste and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.

¹⁰ She is empty, void, and waste. The heart melts, the knees knock together, their bodies and faces have grown pale.

³⁰ Look, he spreads his light around him. He covers the bottom of the sea.

¹⁹ "What is the way to the dwelling of light? As for darkness, where is its place,

¹¹ Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

² He covers himself with light as with a garment. He stretches out the heavens like a curtain.

²⁷ The LORD is God, and he has given us light. Bind the sacrifice with cords, even to the horns of the altar.

⁵ Let them praise the name of the LORD, For he commanded, and they were created.

⁷ I form the light, and create darkness. I make peace, and create calamity. I am the LORD, who does all these things.

¹⁹ The sun will no longer be your light by day, nor will the moon shine for illumination at night; but the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.

³ And he stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, "I am willing. Be cleansed." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

⁵ And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness hasn't overcome it.

⁹ The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world.

¹⁹ This is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light, because their works were evil.

⁴³ When he had said this, he shouted with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out."

⁶ For it is God, who spoke for light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

⁸ For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,

¹⁴ Therefore he says, "Awake, you who sleep, and rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you."

¹⁶ who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light; whom no human has seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and eternal power. Amen.

⁵ This is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

⁸ Again, I write a new commandment to you, which is true in him and in you; because the darkness is passing away, and the true light already shines.

²⁷ And the men were amazed, saying, "What kind of person is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?"

²² Do you not fear me?' says the LORD 'Won't you tremble at my presence, who have placed the sand for the bound of the sea, by a perpetual decree, that it can't pass it? And though its waves toss themselves, yet they can't prevail; though they roar, yet they can't pass over it.'

⁹ He said to them, "I am a Hebrew, and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, who has made the sea and the dry land."

⁴ And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness.

⁴ The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A faithful God and without iniquity, just and right is he.

³¹ Let the glory of the LORD endure forever. Let the LORD rejoice in his works.

²⁹ And God said, "Look, I have given you every plant yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food.

⁵ Now no bush of the field was yet in the land, and no plant of the field had yet sprouted; for God had not caused it to rain on the land, and there were no people to cultivate the ground,

⁹ And out of the ground God made every tree to grow that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the middle of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

¹⁶ And God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;

⁵ As for the earth, out of it comes bread; Underneath it is turned up as it were by fire.

³ He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also does not wither, and whatever he does shall prosper.

⁹ You visit the earth, and water it. You greatly enrich it. The river of God is full of water. You provide them grain, for so you have ordained it. ¹⁰ You drench its furrows. You level its ridges. You soften it with showers. You bless it with a crop. ¹¹ You crown the year with your bounty. Your carts overflow with abundance. ¹² The wilderness grasslands overflow. ¹⁴ He causes the grass to grow for the livestock, and plants for man to cultivate, that he may bring forth food out of the earth: ¹⁵ wine that makes glad the heart of man, oil to make his face to shine, and bread that strengthens man's heart. ¹⁶ The LORD's trees are well watered, the cedars of Lebanon, which he has planted; ¹⁷ where the birds make their nests. The stork makes its home in the fir trees.

⁸ who covers the sky with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass grow on the mountains.

⁸ For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, who spreads out its roots by the river, and shall not fear when heat comes, but its leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

¹⁰ "Even now the axe lies at the root of the trees. Therefore, every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire.

³⁰ But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, won't he much more clothe you, you of little faith?

¹⁶ By their fruits you will know them. Do you gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? ¹⁷ Even so, every good tree produces good fruit; but the corrupt tree produces evil fruit. ¹⁸ A good tree cannot produce evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree produce good fruit. ¹⁹ Every tree that does not grow good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire. ²⁰ Therefore, by their fruits you will know them.

²⁸ The earth bears fruit, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.

⁴³ For there is no good tree that brings forth rotten fruit; nor again a rotten tree that brings forth good fruit. ⁴⁴ For each tree is known by its own fruit. For people do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush.

⁷ For the land which has drunk the rain that comes often on it, and brings forth a crop suitable for them for whose sake it is also tilled, receives blessing from God;

¹² Can a fig tree, my brothers, yield olives, or a vine figs? Nor is salt water able to produce sweet.

¹⁰ For as the rain comes down and the snow from the sky, and doesn't return there, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, and gives seed to the sower and bread to the eater; ¹¹ so shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing I sent it to do.

¹¹ For as the earth brings forth its bud, and as the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the LORD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

²⁴ He set another parable before them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven is like a person who sowed good seed in his field, ²⁵ but while everyone slept, his enemy came and sowed tares also among the wheat, and went away. ²⁶ But when the blade sprang up and brought forth fruit, then the tares appeared also.

⁴⁴ For each tree is known by its own fruit. For people do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush.

¹⁰ Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, will supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;

⁷ Do not be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a person sows, that he will also reap.

¹³ I set my rainbow in the cloud, and it will be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.

¹⁹ and lest you lift up your eyes to the sky, and when you see the sun and the moon and the stars, even all the host of heaven, you are drawn away and worship them, and serve them, which the LORD your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole sky.

⁹ Let the stars of its twilight be dark. Let it look for light, but have none, neither let it see the eyelids of the morning,

³ Can his armies be counted? On whom does his light not arise?

⁵ Look, even the moon has no brightness, and the stars are not pure in his sight;

¹² "Have you commanded the morning in your days, and caused the dawn to know its place; ¹³ that it might take hold of the farthest parts of the earth, and shake the wicked out of it? ¹⁴ It is changed as clay under the seal, and stands forth as a garment.

³¹ "Can you fasten the chains of Kimah, or loosen the cords of Kesil? ³² Can you lead forth the Mazzaroth in their season? Or can you lead Aysh with her children?

³ When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars which you have set in place; ⁴ what is man, that you think of him, and the son of man that you care for him?

The expanse shows his handiwork. ² Day after day they pour forth speech, and night after night they display knowledge. ³ There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. ⁴ Their voice has gone out to all the earth, their words to the farthest part of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, ⁵ which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a strong man rejoicing to run his course. ⁶ His going forth is from the end of the heavens, his circuit to its ends; There is nothing hidden from its heat.

¹⁶ The day is yours, the night is also yours. You have prepared the light and the sun. ¹⁷ You have set all the boundaries of the earth. You have made summer and winter.

³ Praise him, sun and moon. Praise him, all you shining stars.

² Thus says the LORD, "Do not learn the way of the nations, and do not be dismayed at the signs of the sky; for the nations are dismayed at them.

⁷ When I shall extinguish you, I will cover the heavens, and make its stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give its light. ⁸ All the bright lights of the sky will I make dark over you, and set darkness on your land, says the Lord GOD.

¹ "Thus says the Lord GOD: 'The gate of the inner court that looks toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the Sabbath day it shall be opened, and on the day of the new moon it shall be opened.

⁶ On the day of the new moon it shall be a young bull without blemish, and six lambs, and a ram; they shall be without blemish:

¹⁰ For the stars of the sky and its constellations will not give their light. The sun will be darkened in its going forth, and the moon will not cause its light to shine.

²³ Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, for the LORD of hosts will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and before his elders will be glory.

¹¹ The sun and moon stood still in the sky, at the light of your arrows as they went, at the shining of your glittering spear.

⁴⁵ Now from noon until three in the afternoon there was darkness over all the land.

⁴¹ There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory.

²⁴ LORD, how many are your works. In wisdom have you made them all. The earth is full of your riches. ²⁵ There is the sea, great and wide, in which are innumerable living things, both small and large animals.

¹⁰ wild animals and all livestock; small creatures and flying birds;

²¹ For there is a man whose labor is with wisdom, with knowledge, and with skillfulness; yet he shall leave it for his portion to a man who has not labored for it. This also is vanity and a great evil.

²⁵ neither is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself gives to all life and breath, and all things.

²⁰ Of the flying creatures after their kind, of the animals after their kind, and of every crawling creature of the ground after their kind, two of every sort shall come to you, to keep them alive.

¹⁷ The LORD prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah, and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

¹⁰ The LORD spoke to the fish, and it vomited out Jonah on the dry land.

⁴⁰ For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

²⁸ And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the flying creatures of the sky, and over all the tame animals, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over all the creatures that crawl on the earth."

¹ God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth.

²⁷ Laban said to him, "If now I have found favor in your eyes, stay here, for I have learned by divination that God has blessed me for your sake."

³⁰ For you had little before I came, and it has increased abundantly. And God has blessed you wherever I worked. Now when will I also provide for my own household?"

¹¹ And God said to him, "I am El Shaddai. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation and a company of nations will come from you, and kings will come from your body.

⁹ "'I will have respect for you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and will establish my covenant with you.

¹⁵ "Look now at the sauropod, which I made as well as you. He eats grass as an ox.

¹² So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand female donkeys.

³¹ Let them praise the LORD for his loving kindness, for his wonderful works for the descendants of Adam.

³⁸ He blesses them also, so that they are multiplied greatly. He doesn't allow their livestock to decrease.

³ Your wife will be as a fruitful vine, in the innermost parts of your house; your children like olive plants, around your table.

¹³ Our storehouses are full, filled with all kinds of provision. Our sheep bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our fields. ¹⁴ Our oxen will pull heavy loads. There is no breaking in, and no going away, and no outcry in our streets.

²² The LORD's blessing brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it.

³⁹ "Can you hunt the prey for the lioness, or satisfy the appetite of the young lions, ⁴⁰ when they crouch in their dens, and lie in wait in the thicket?

¹ "Do you know the time when the mountain goats give birth? Do you watch when the doe bears fawns?

⁵ "Who has set the wild donkey free? Or who has loosened the bonds of the swift donkey,

⁹ "Will the wild ox be content to serve you? Or will he stay by your feeding trough?

¹⁹ "Have you given the horse might? Have you clothed his neck with a quivering mane?

⁹ I have no need for a bull from your stall, nor male goats from your pens. ¹⁰ For every animal of the forest is mine, and the livestock on a thousand hills.

²³ Man goes forth to his work, to his labor until the evening.

¹⁹ And out of the ground God formed every tame animal, and every wild animal, and every flying creature of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. ²⁰ And the man gave names to all the tame animals, and to all the flying creatures of the sky, and to every wild animal; but for Adam there was not found a helper suitable for him.

⁸ Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach you. The fish of the sea shall declare to you. ⁹ Who doesn't know that in all these, the hand of the LORD has done this, ¹⁰ in whose hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all humankind?

⁵ "I have made the earth, the men and the animals that are on the surface of the earth, by my great power and by my outstretched arm; and I give it to whom it seems right to me.

²² Then God said, "Look, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil. So now, let us send him out, lest he reach out his hand and also take of the tree of life and eat, and live forever."

² And the fear of you and the dread of you will be on every wild animal of the earth, and on every tame animal of the earth, and on every flying creature of the sky, and on everything that crawls on the ground, and on all the fish of the sea; into your power they are given. ³ Every moving thing that lives will be food for you. As I gave the green plants, I now give you everything. ⁴ But flesh with its life, its blood, you shall not eat.

⁶ Whoever takes a human life, by a human will his life be taken, for God made humankind in his own image.

⁷ Come, let us go down, and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another's speech."

²³ For you shall be in league with the stones of the field. The animals of the field shall be at peace with you.

¹⁰ But none says, 'Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night,

⁴ what is man, that you think of him, and the son of man that you care for him? ⁵ For you have made him a little lower than the angels. You have crowned him with glory and honor, ⁶ and you made him ruler over the works of your hands. You have put all things under his feet: ⁷ all sheep and cattle, and also the wild animals, ⁸ the birds of the sky, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes through the paths of the seas.

³ Know that the LORD, he is God. It is he who has made us, and we belong to him. We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

² Let Israel rejoice in him who made them. Let the people of Zion be joyful in their King.

²⁹ Look, this only have I found, that God made humankind upright, but they search for many schemes.

⁸ I heard the Lord's voice, saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then I said, "Here I am. Send me."

⁸ But now, LORD, you are our Father, and we are clay, and you are our potter; and we all are the work of your hands.

⁶ Now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the animals of the field also have I given him to serve him.

¹⁷ But he answered them, "My Father is still working, so I am working, too."

¹⁸ But we all, with unveiled face looking as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit.

⁴ in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, so they would not see the light of the glorious Good News of Christ, who is the image of God.

²⁴ and put on the new self, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.

¹⁵ who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

¹⁰ and have put on the new self, who is being renewed in knowledge after the image of his Creator,

⁶ But one has somewhere testified, saying, "What is man, that you think of him? Or the son of man, that you care for him? ⁷ You made him a little lower than the angels. You crowned him with glory and honor. ⁸ You have put all things under his feet." For in that he put all things under him, he left nothing that is not under him. But now we do not yet see that all things are under him. ⁹ But we see him who has been made a little lower than the angels, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God he should taste of death for everyone.

⁷ For all kinds of animals, and birds, of reptiles and sea creatures, are being tamed and have been tamed by humankind.

⁹ With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people, who are made in the image of God.

⁷ For there are three who testify:

¹⁸ And God said, "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him."

²¹ So God caused a deep sleep to fall on the man, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh at that place. ²² And the rib that God had taken from the man he fashioned into a woman and brought her to the man. ²³ And the man said, "This at last is bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh. ¹⁷ I will indeed bless you, and I will greatly multiply your offspring like the stars of the sky, and like the sand which is on the seashore; and your offspring will possess the gate of their enemies. ¹⁸ And through your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice."

⁶⁰ They blessed Rebekah, and said to her, "Our sister, may you be the mother of thousands of ten thousands, and let your descendants possess the gate of those who hate them."

³ Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you. For to you, and to your descendants, I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore to Abraham your father. ⁴ I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the sky, and will give to your descendants all these lands, and by your descendants will all the nations of the earth be blessed,

²⁴ And God appeared to him the same night, and said, "I am the God of Abraham your father. Do not be afraid, for I am with you, and will bless you, and multiply your descendants for my servant Abraham's sake."

⁵ And he looked up and saw the women and the children, and said, "Who are these with you?" He said, "The children whom God has graciously given your servant."

²⁵ by the God of your father, who will help you, and El Shaddai, who will bless you with blessings of the sky above, blessings of the deep that lies below, and blessings of the breasts and of the womb.

¹⁰ And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, "Oh that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from evil, so that it might not cause me pain." And God granted him that which he requested.

⁵ Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peullethai the eighth; for God blessed him.

³⁴ Let heaven and earth praise him; the seas, and everything that moves in them.

¹ [A Song of Ascents. By Solomon.] Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. ³ Every moving thing that lives will be food for you. As I gave the green plants, I now give you everything.

³¹ For by these he judges the people. He gives food in abundance.

¹ [A Psalm by David.] The earth is the LORD's, and its fullness; the world, and those who dwell in it.

¹⁴ He causes the grass to grow for the livestock, and plants for man to cultivate, that he may bring forth food out of the earth: ¹⁵ wine that makes glad the heart of man, oil to make his face to shine, and bread that strengthens man's heart.

²⁷ All of them look to you to give them their food at the proper time. ²⁸ You give to them; they gather. You open your hand; they are satisfied with good.

⁵ He has given food to those who fear him. He always remembers his covenant.

¹⁶ The heavens are the heavens of the LORD; but the earth has he given to the descendants of Adam.

²⁵ Who gives food to every creature; for his loving kindness endures forever.

¹⁵ The eyes of all wait for you. You give them their food in due season. ¹⁶ You yourself open your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

⁷ who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. The LORD frees the prisoners.

⁹ He provides food for the livestock, and for the young ravens when they call.

¹⁶ he will dwell on high. His place of defense will be the fortress of rocks. His bread will be supplied. His waters will be sure.

⁸ For she did not know that I gave her the grain, the new wine, and the oil, and multiplied to her silver and gold, which they used for Baal.

¹¹ Give us today our daily bread.

²⁵ Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? ²⁶ See the birds of the sky, that they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns, and your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of much more value than they?

¹⁷ Yet he did not leave himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you rains from the sky and fruitful seasons, filling your hearts with food and gladness."

²⁴ The God who made the world and all things in it, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands, ²⁵ neither is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself gives to all life and breath, and all things.

²⁸ 'For in him we live, and move, and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also his offspring.'

¹⁷ Charge those who are rich in this present world that they not be haughty, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy;

³⁹ "Can you hunt the prey for the lioness, or satisfy the appetite of the young lions, ⁴⁰ when they crouch in their dens, and lie in wait in the thicket? ⁴¹ Who provides for the raven his prey, when his young ones cry to God, and wander for lack of food?

⁴ Their young ones become strong. They grow up in the open field. They go forth, and do not return again.

⁸ The range of the mountains is his pasture, He searches after every green thing.

³⁰ His young ones also suck up blood. Where the slain are, there he is."

²⁰ Surely the mountains produce food for him, where all the animals of the field play.

¹⁴ He causes the grass to grow for the livestock, and plants for man to cultivate, that he may bring forth food out of the earth:

² And on the sixth day God finished his works which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his works which he had made.

³⁸ Doesn't both calamity and good come out of the mouth of the Most High?

⁴ For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with thanksgiving.
