¹⁰ Even so you also, when you have done all the things that are commanded you, say, 'We are unworthy servants. We have done our duty.'"

¹⁴ But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you. ¹⁵ For we are strangers before you, and foreigners, as all our fathers were. Our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is no remaining. ¹⁶ The LORD our God, all this store that we have prepared to build you a house for your holy name comes from your hand, and is all your own.

² "Can a man be profitable to God? Surely he who is wise is profitable to himself. ³ Is it any pleasure to Shaddai, that you are righteous? Or does it benefit him, that you make your ways perfect?

⁶ If you have sinned, what effect do you have against him? If your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to him? ⁷ If you are righteous, what do you give him? Or what does he receive from your hand?

² I said to the LORD, "You are my Lord. Apart from you I have no good thing." ³ As for the holy ones who are in the land, they are the excellent ones in whom is all my delight.

⁶ Let their way be dark and slippery, The LORD's angel pursuing them. ⁷ For without cause they have hidden their net in a pit for me. Without cause they have dug a pit for my soul.

² All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weighs the motives. ³ Entrust your works to the LORD, and your plans will be established.

⁵ Then I said, "Woe is me. For I am undone, because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts."

⁶ For we have all become as one who is unclean, and all our righteousness is as a polluted garment: and we all fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

³⁰ Throw out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.'

³⁷ "Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you; or thirsty, and give you a drink? ³⁸ When did we see you as a stranger, and take you in; or naked, and clothe you? ³⁹ When did we see you sick, or in prison, and come to you?' ⁴⁰ "The King will answer them, 'Truly I tell you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'

¹⁶ For if I proclaim the Good News, I have nothing to boast about; for necessity is laid on me; but woe is to me, if I do not proclaim the Good News. ¹⁷ For if I do this of my own will, I have a reward. But if not of my own will, I have a stewardship entrusted to me.

⁹ For I am the least of the apostles, who is not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. ¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am what I am. His grace which was bestowed on me was not futile, but I worked more than all of them; yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

⁸ More than that, I count all things to be a loss compared to the far greater value of knowing Christ Jesus, my Lord, for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and count them nothing but refuse, that I may gain Christ ⁹ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own, that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;

¹¹ who once was useless to you, but now is useful to you and to me.

⁵ Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility, towards one another; for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. ⁶ Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time;
