⁷ They answered that they did not know where it was from.

⁹ And he said, "Go, and tell this people, 'In hearing you hear, but do not understand; and seeing you see, but do not perceive.' ¹⁰ The heart of this people has grown dull, and their ears sluggish, and they have closed their eyes, otherwise they might see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and turn back, and I would heal them."

¹¹ LORD, your hand is lifted up, yet they do not see; they see the zeal of the people, and are ashamed. Yes, fire will consume your adversaries.

⁹ Pause and wonder. Blind yourselves and be blind. They are drunk, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink. ¹⁰ For the LORD has poured out on you a spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes (the prophets), and he has covered your heads (the seers). ¹¹ All vision has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is educated, saying, "Read this, please;" and he says, "I can't, for it is sealed:" ¹² and the book is delivered to one who is not educated, saying, "Read this, please;" and he says, "I can't read."

¹⁴ Therefore, look, I will again do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder; and I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will nullify."

²⁸ When I look, there is no man; even among them there is no counselor who, when I ask of them, can answer a word.

¹⁹ Who is blind, but my servant? Or who is as deaf as my messenger whom I send? Who is as blind as he who is at peace, and as blind as the LORD's servant? ²⁰ You see many things, but do not observe. His ears are open, but he doesn't listen.

¹⁸ They do not know, neither do they consider: for he has shut their eyes, that they can't see; and their hearts, that they can't understand.

⁷ Yes, the stork in the sky knows her appointed times; and the turtledove and the swallow and the crane observe the time of their coming; but my people do not know the LORD's law. ⁸ How can you say, "We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us?" But, look, the lying pen of the scribes has worked falsehood. ⁹ The wise men are disappointed, they are dismayed and taken: look, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what kind of wisdom is in them?

¹⁵ The LORD said to me, "Take for yourself yet again the equipment of a foolish shepherd.

¹⁷ Woe to the worthless shepherd who leaves the flock. The sword will be on his arm, and on his right eye. His arm will be completely withered, and his right eye will be totally blinded."

⁷ For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth; for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts. ⁸ But you have turned aside out of the way. You have caused many to stumble in the law. You have corrupted the covenant of Levi," says the LORD of hosts. ⁹ "Therefore I have also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according to the way you have not kept my ways, but have had respect for persons in the law.

¹⁹ This is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light, because their works were evil. ²⁰ For everyone who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, so that his works will not be exposed.

³⁹ Jesus said, "I came into this world for judgment, that those who do not see may see; and that those who see may become blind."

¹⁰ and with all deception of wickedness for those who are perishing, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ¹¹ And because of this, God sends them a strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, ¹² in order that all might be judged who did not believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

⁸ Even as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so do these also oppose the truth; people corrupted in mind, disapproved concerning the faith. ⁹ But they will proceed no further. For their folly will be evident to all, as theirs also was.
