⁶ but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him that a huge millstone should be hung around his neck, and that he should be sunk in the depths of the sea.

¹⁰ See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.

¹⁴ Even so it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.

⁴² Whoever will cause one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if he was thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around his neck.

¹ He said to the disciples, "It is impossible that no occasions of stumbling should come, but woe to him through whom they come. ² It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, rather than that he should cause one of these little ones to stumble.

⁵ And he said, "Who are you, Lord?" And he said, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.

¹³ Therefore let us not judge one another any more, but judge this rather, not to put a stumbling block in a brother's way, or an occasion for falling. ¹⁴ I know, and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean of itself; except that to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. ¹⁵ Yet if because of food your brother is grieved, you walk no longer in love. Do not destroy with your food him for whom Christ died.

²¹ It is good to not eat meat, drink wine, or do anything by which your brother stumbles, or is offended, or is made weak.

¹ Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of the weak, and not to please ourselves. ² Let each one of us please his neighbor for that which is good, to be building him up. ³ For even Christ did not please himself. But, as it is written, "The insults of those who insult you fell on me."

⁹ But be careful that by no means does this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to the weak. ¹⁰ For if someone sees you who have knowledge sitting in an idol's temple, won't his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols? ¹¹ And through your knowledge, he who is weak perishes, the brother for whom the Christ died. ¹² Thus, sinning against the brothers, and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ. ¹³ Therefore, if food causes my brother to stumble, I will eat no meat forevermore, that I do not cause my brother to stumble.

³² Give no occasions for stumbling, either to Jews, or to Greeks, or to the church of God; ³³ even as I also please all people in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of the many, that they may be saved.

⁶ Since it is a righteous thing with God to repay affliction to those who afflict you, ⁷ and to give relief to you who are afflicted with us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, ⁸ giving vengeance to those who do not know God, and to those who do not obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus, ⁹ who will pay the penalty: everlasting destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might,
