⁴² Watch therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord comes.

³⁶ But no one knows of that day and hour, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but my Father only.

⁴⁴ Therefore also be ready, for in an hour that you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.

³⁸ Then he said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here, and watch with me." ³⁹ He went forward a little, fell on his face, and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not what I desire, but what you desire." ⁴⁰ He came to the disciples, and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "What, could you not watch with me for one hour? ⁴¹ Watch and pray, that you do not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

³³ Watch, keep alert, and pray; for you do not know when the time is. ³⁴ "It is like a man, traveling to another country, having left his house, and given authority to his servants, and to each one his work, and also commanded the doorkeeper to keep watch. ³⁵ Watch therefore, for you do not know when the lord of the house is coming —at evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning; ³⁶ lest coming suddenly he might find you sleeping. ³⁷ What I tell you, I tell all: Watch."

³⁵ "Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning. ³⁶ Be like people watching for their lord, when he returns from the marriage feast; that, when he comes and knocks, they may immediately open to him. ³⁷ Blessed are those servants, whom the lord will find watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, that he will dress himself, and make them recline, and will come and serve them. ³⁸ And if he comes in the second watch, or even in the third, and finds them so, blessed are they. ³⁹ But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what hour the thief was coming, he would have watched and not have allowed his house to be broken into. ⁴⁰ Therefore be ready also, for the Son of Man is coming in an hour that you do not expect him."

³⁶ Therefore be watchful all the time, praying that you may be able to escape all these things that will happen, and to stand before the Son of Man."

¹¹ Do this, knowing the time, that it is already time for you to awaken out of sleep, for salvation is now nearer to us than when we first believed.

¹³ Watch. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.

⁶ so then let us not sleep, as the rest do, but let us watch and be sober.

⁷ But the end of all things is near. Therefore be serious and disciplined in your prayers.

⁸ Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

² Wake up, and keep the things that remain, which were about to die, for I have found no works of yours perfected before my God. ³ Remember therefore how you have received and heard. Keep it, and repent. If therefore you do not wake up, I will come as a thief, and you won't know what hour I will come to you.
