³ Then Judas, who betrayed him, when he saw that Jesus was condemned, felt remorse, and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,

⁵ that the triumphing of the wicked is short, the joy of the godless but for a moment?

¹⁵ He has swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again. God will cast them out of his belly. ¹⁶ He shall suck cobra venom. The viper's tongue shall kill him. ¹⁷ He shall not look at the rivers, the flowing streams of honey and butter. ¹⁸ That for which he labored he shall restore, and shall not swallow it down. According to the substance that he has gotten, he shall not rejoice. ¹⁹ For he has oppressed and forsaken the poor. He has violently taken away a house, and he shall not build it up. ²⁰ "Because he knew no quietness within him, he shall not save anything of that in which he delights. ²¹ There was nothing left that he did not devour, therefore his prosperity shall not endure. ²² In the fullness of his sufficiency, distress shall overtake him. The hand of everyone who is in misery shall come on him. ²³ When he is about to fill his belly, he will cast the fierceness of his wrath on him. It will rain on him while he is eating. ²⁴ He shall flee from the iron weapon. The bronze arrow shall strike him through. ²⁵ He draws it forth, and it comes out of his body. Yes, the glittering point comes out of his liver. Terrors are on him. ²⁶ All darkness is laid up for his treasures. An unfanned fire shall devour him. It shall consume that which is left in his tent. ²⁷ The heavens shall reveal his iniquity. The earth shall rise up against him. ²⁸ The increase of his house shall depart. They shall rush away in the day of his wrath. ²⁹ This is the portion of a wicked man from God, the heritage appointed to him by God."

¹⁴ Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests, ¹⁵ and said, "What are you willing to give me, that I should deliver him to you?" They weighed out for him thirty pieces of silver. ¹⁶ From that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

⁴⁷ While he was still speaking, look, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a large crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and elders of the people. ⁴⁸ Now he who betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, "Whoever I kiss, he is the one. Seize him." ⁴⁹ Immediately he came to Jesus, and said, "Greetings, Rabbi." and kissed him. ⁵⁰ Jesus said to him, "Friend, why are you here?" Then they came and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.

¹⁰ Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went away to the chief priests, that he might deliver him to them. ¹¹ They, when they heard it, were glad, and promised to give him money. He sought how he might conveniently deliver him.

⁴³ Immediately, while he was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, came—and with him a crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders. ⁴⁴ Now he who betrayed him had given them a sign, saying, "Whomever I will kiss, that is he. Seize him, and lead him away safely." ⁴⁵ When he had come, immediately he came to him, and said, "Rabbi." and kissed him. ⁴⁶ They laid hands on him, and seized him.

² The chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill him, for they feared the people. ³ Satan entered into Judas, who was called Iscariot, who was numbered with the twelve. ⁴ He went away, and talked with the chief priests and captains about how he might deliver him to them. ⁵ They were glad, and agreed to give him money. ⁶ He consented, and sought an opportunity to deliver him to them in the absence of the crowd.

⁴⁷ While he was still speaking, look, a crowd came, and he who was called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He came near to Jesus to kiss him. ⁴⁸ But Jesus said to him, "Judas, do you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?"

² And during the meal, the devil had already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him.

²⁷ After the piece of bread, then Satan entered into him. Then Jesus said to him, "What you do, do quickly."

³ Judas then, having taken a detachment of soldiers and officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons.

¹⁰ For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation, which brings no regret. But the sorrow of the world works death.
