How greatly he rejoices in your salvation. ² You have given him his heart's desire, and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah. ³ For you meet him with the blessings of goodness. You set a crown of fine gold on his head. ⁴ He asked life of you, you gave it to him, even length of days forever and ever. ⁵ His glory is great in your salvation. You lay honor and majesty on him. ⁶ For you make him most blessed forever. You make him glad with joy in your presence. ⁷ For the king trusts in the LORD. Through the loving kindness of the Most High, he shall not be moved. ⁸ Your hand will find out all of your enemies. Your right hand will find all those who hate you. ⁹ You will make them as a fiery furnace in the time of your anger. The LORD will swallow them up in his wrath. The fire shall devour them. ¹⁰ You will destroy their descendants from the earth, their posterity from among the descendants of Adam. ¹¹ Though they intend evil against you, devising a wicked scheme, they will not succeed. ¹² For you will make them turn their back, when you aim drawn bows at their face. ¹³ Be exalted, LORD, in your strength, so we will sing and praise your power.

⁶ "But I myself have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain."

⁵ We will triumph in your salvation. In the name of our God, we will set up our banners. May the LORD grant all your requests. ⁶ Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed. He will answer him from his holy heaven, with a mighty act of deliverance by his right hand.

⁹ Save, LORD. Let the King answer us when we call.

⁷ The LORD is my strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart greatly rejoices. With my song I will thank him.

¹⁶ But I will sing of your strength. Yes, I will sing aloud of your loving kindness in the morning. For you have been my high tower, a refuge in the day of my distress. ¹⁷ To you, my strength, I will sing praises. For God is my high tower, the God of my mercy.

⁷ With God is my salvation and my honor. The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

¹¹ But the king shall rejoice in God. Everyone who swears by him will praise him, for the mouth of those who speak lies shall be silenced.

¹⁷ God, you have taught me from my youth. Until now, I have declared your wondrous works.

¹ Oh come, let's sing to the LORD. Let's shout aloud to the rock of our salvation.

⁴ The King's strength also loves justice. You do establish equity. You execute justice and righteousness in Jacob.

¹⁴ The LORD is my strength and song. He has become my salvation. ¹⁵ The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous. "The right hand of the LORD does valiantly.

⁶ For to us a child is born. To us a son is given; and the government will be on his shoulders, and his name is called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. ⁷ Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, on the throne of David, and on his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from that time on, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

² "Where is he who is born King of the Jews? For we saw his star in the east, and have come to worship him."

² looking to Jesus, the founder and completer of the faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

⁸ Ask of me, and I will give the nations as your inheritance, and the farthest parts of the earth for your possession. ⁹ You shall rule them with an iron scepter. You shall dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel."

⁴ He will grant you your heart's desire, and fulfill all your plans. ⁵ We will triumph in your salvation. In the name of our God, we will set up our banners. May the LORD grant all your requests.

⁴ Also delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

¹¹ My eye has also seen my enemies. My ears have heard of the wicked enemies who rise up against me.

⁶ And he says, "It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel; I will also give you as a light to the nations, that you may bring salvation to the farthest part of the earth." ⁷ Thus says the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to the one who is despised, to the abhorred of the nation, the servant of rulers: "Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall worship; because of the LORD who is faithful, even the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you." ⁸ Thus says the LORD, "In an acceptable time I have answered you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you; and I will preserve you, and give you as a covenant to the people, to raise up the land, to make them inherit the desolate heritage: ⁹ saying to those who are bound, 'Come out.'; to those who are in darkness, 'Show yourselves.' "They shall feed in the ways, and on all bare heights shall be their pasture. ¹⁰ They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun strike them: for he who has mercy on them will lead them, even by springs of water he will guide them. ¹¹ I will make all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be exalted. ¹² Look, these shall come from far; and look, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Syene."

²⁵ Therefore he is also able to save completely those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them.

¹³ Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brothers: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily on David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

⁴ The men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. They told David, saying, "It was the people of Jabesh Gilead who buried Saul."

³ So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the LORD; and they anointed David king over Israel.

³⁰ He took the crown of their king from off his head; and its weight was a talent of gold, and in it were precious stones; and it was set on David's head. He brought out the spoil of the city, a very great amount.

⁴¹ "Now therefore arise, LORD God, into your resting place, you, and the ark of your strength: let your priests, LORD God, be clothed with salvation, and let your faithful ones rejoice in what is good.

¹¹ Who has confronted me, that I should repay? Everything under the heavens is mine.

¹⁸ They came on me in the day of my calamity, but the LORD was my support.

¹⁹ Oh how great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you have worked for those who take refuge in you, before the descendants of Adam.

¹⁰ My God of mercy will come to meet me. God will let me look at my enemies in triumph.

⁴ Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

³⁵ "Or who has first given to him, and it will be repaid to him again?"

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ;

⁹ But we see him who has been made a little lower than the angels, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God he should taste of death for everyone.

¹² His eyes are a flame of fire, and on his head are many crowns. He had a name written which no one knows but he himself.

³ Look, and answer me, LORD, my God. Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep in death;

¹⁰ For you will not abandon my soul in Sheol, neither will you allow your Holy One to see decay. ¹¹ You make known to me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.

⁵ For you, God, have heard my vows. You have given me the heritage of those who fear your name. ⁶ You will prolong the king's life; his years shall be for generations.

¹⁷ His name endures forever. His name continues as long as the sun. Men shall be blessed by him. All nations will call him blessed.

²⁹ And I will establish his descendants forever, and his throne as the days of heaven.

³⁶ His descendants will endure forever, his throne like the sun before me. ³⁷ It will be established forever like the moon, the faithful witness in the sky." Selah.

¹⁶ I will satisfy him with long life, and show him my salvation."

³ like the dew of Hermon, that comes down on the hills of Zion: for there the LORD gives the blessing, even life forevermore.

¹⁸ and the Living one. I was dead, but look, I am alive forevermore. I have the keys of Death and of hell.

⁸ Now therefore you shall tell my servant David this, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, "I took you from the sheep pen, from following the sheep, that you should be prince over my people Israel. ⁹ I have been with you wherever you went, and have cut off all your enemies from before you. I will make you a great name, like the name of the great ones who are in the earth.

¹⁹ This was a small thing in your eyes, Lord GOD, and you have spoken of your servantʼs house for a great while to come, and you have let me look upon the generation of humankind to come, Lord GOD.

¹¹ And it will come about when your days are fulfilled, when you must go to be with your fathers, that I will raise up your descendant after you, who shall be of your sons; and I will establish his kingdom. ¹² He will build me a house, and I will establish his throne forever. ¹³ I will be his father, and he shall be my son. I will not take my loving kindness away from him, as I took it from him that was before you; ¹⁴ but I will settle him in my house and in my kingdom forever. His throne shall be established forever."'" ¹⁵ According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.

²⁷ Now it has pleased you to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever before you; for you, LORD, have blessed, and it is blessed forever."

³ But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.

⁵ For you have made him a little lower than the angels. You have crowned him with glory and honor,

⁶ Honor and majesty are before him. Strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

¹ [A Psalm by David.] The LORD says to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet."

⁵ Now says the LORD who formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, and that Israel be gathered to him; for I am honorable in the eyes of the LORD, and my God has become my strength. ⁶ And he says, "It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel; I will also give you as a light to the nations, that you may bring salvation to the farthest part of the earth." ⁷ Thus says the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to the one who is despised, to the abhorred of the nation, the servant of rulers: "Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall worship; because of the LORD who is faithful, even the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you."

¹ Who is this who comes from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this who is glorious in his clothing, marching in the greatness of his strength? "It is I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save."

¹⁸ Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.

³¹ When he had gone out, Jesus said, "Now the Son of Man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in him. ³² If God has been glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and he will glorify him at once.

¹ Jesus said these things, and lifting up his eyes to heaven, he said, "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may also glorify you;

⁵ Now, Father, glorify me with your own self with the glory which I had with you before the world existed.

²² The glory which you have given me, I have given to them; that they may be one, even as we are one;

²⁰ which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, ²¹ far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come. ²² He put all things under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things for the church,

⁹ Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; ¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, ¹¹ and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

¹ Now in the things which we are saying, the main point is this. We have such a high priest, who sat down on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,

²² who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being made subject to him.

⁸ Now when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. ⁹ They sang a new song, saying, "You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals: for you were killed, and redeemed for God with your blood those from every tribe, language, people, and nation, ¹⁰ and made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they will reign on earth." ¹¹ I saw, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousands of ten thousands, and thousands of thousands; ¹² saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is the Lamb who has been killed to receive the power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing." ¹³ I heard every created thing which is in heaven, on the earth, under the earth, on the sea, and everything in them, saying, "To him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb be the blessing, the honor, the glory, and the dominion, forever and ever."

² And I will make of you a great nation. And I will bless you and make your name great. And you will be a blessing.

⁶ Many say, "Who will show us any good?" LORD, lift up the light of your face upon us. ⁷ You have put gladness in my heart, more than when their grain and wine and oil abound.

¹¹ You make known to me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. In your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.

⁴ Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my exceeding joy. I will praise you on the harp, God, my God.

⁷ You have loved righteousness, and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your companions.

² So I have seen you in the sanctuary, watching your power and your glory. ³ Because your loving kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise you. ⁴ So I will bless you while I live. I will lift up my hands in your name. ⁵ My soul shall be satisfied as with the richest food. My mouth shall praise you with joyful lips,

¹⁷ His name endures forever. His name continues as long as the sun. Men shall be blessed by him. All nations will call him blessed. ¹⁸ Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds. ¹⁹ Blessed be his glorious name forever. Let the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and amen.

¹⁰ The angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for see, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people. ¹¹ For there is born to you, this day, in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ, the Lord.

³⁰ for my eyes have seen your salvation, ³¹ which you have prepared before the face of all peoples; ³² a light for revelation to the nations, and the glory of your people Israel."

²⁸ You made known to me the paths of life. You will make me full of joy in your presence.'

²⁶ God, having raised up his Servant, sent him to you first, to bless you, in turning away everyone of you from your wickedness."

⁹ So then, those who are of faith are blessed with the faithful Abraham.

¹⁴ that the blessing of Abraham might come on the non-Jews through Christ Jesus; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

⁸ When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided humankind, he set the bounds of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God. ⁹ For the LORD's portion is his people. Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

⁶ David was greatly distressed; for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.

² I will be glad and rejoice in you. I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.

⁵ But I trust in your loving kindness. My heart rejoices in your salvation.

⁸ I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

² The LORD is my Rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my Rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.

⁷ Some [trust] in chariots, and some in horses, but we trust the name of the LORD our God. ⁸ They are bowed down and fallen, but we rise up, and stand upright.

¹ [By David.] Judge me, LORD, for I have walked in my integrity. I have trusted also in LORD without wavering.

⁴ I will dwell in your tent forever. I will take refuge in the shelter of your wings. Selah.

⁶ You will prolong the king's life; his years shall be for generations. ⁷ He shall be enthroned in God's presence forever. Appoint your loving kindness and truth, that they may preserve him.

² I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust."

⁹ Because you have made the LORD, my refuge, the Most High, your dwelling place, ¹⁰ no evil shall overtake you; no plague shall come near your dwelling.

¹⁴ There was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations, and languages should serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

⁴³ He trusts in God. Let God deliver him now, if he wants him; for he said, 'I am the Son of God.'"

¹³ And again, "I will put my trust in him." And again, "Look, I and the children whom God has given me."

²⁹ Though men may rise up to pursue you, and to seek your soul, yet the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD your God. He will sling out the souls of your enemies, as from the hollow of a sling.

³ The battle was fierce against Saul, and the archers found him, and he was wounded by the archers.

¹ It happened, when the king lived in his house, and the LORD had given him rest from all his enemies all around,

⁹ You shall rule them with an iron scepter. You shall dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel."

¹ [For the Chief Musician. By David the servant of the LORD, who spoke to the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. He said,] I love you, LORD, my strength.

⁹ Those who dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him. His enemies shall lick the dust.

²² No enemy will tax him. No wicked man will oppress him. ²³ I will beat down his adversaries before him, and strike those who hate him.

¹ [A Psalm by David.] The LORD says to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet." ² The LORD will send forth the rod of your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of your enemies.

¹⁰ As my hand has found the kingdoms of the idols, whose engraved images exceeded those of Jerusalem and of Samaria;

² Though they dig into Sheol, there my hand will take them; and though they climb up to heaven, there I will bring them down. ³ Though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out there; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, there I will command the serpent, and it will bite them.

¹⁴ But his citizens hated him, and sent an envoy after him, saying, 'We do not want this man to reign over us.'

²⁷ But bring those enemies of mine who did not want me to reign over them here, and kill them before me.'"

²⁵ For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.

²⁸ Anyone who disregards the Law of Moses dies without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses. ²⁹ How much worse punishment, do you think, will he be judged worthy of, who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant with which he was sanctified an unholy thing, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

¹⁵ Out of his mouth proceeds a sharp sword, that with it he should strike the nations. He will rule them with an iron scepter. He treads the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath of the God of hosts.

²⁸ He looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and he saw; and look, the smoke was rising from the land like smoke from a furnace.

²² For a fire is kindled in my anger, and burns to the lowest Sheol, and devours the earth with its increase, and sets the foundations of the mountains on fire.

³ For now it would be heavier than the sand of the seas, therefore have my words been rash.

⁵ Then he will speak to them in his anger, and terrify them in his wrath:

¹² Do homage in purity, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, when his anger is suddenly kindled. Blessed are all those who take refuge in him.

⁸ Smoke went out of his nostrils. Consuming fire came out of his mouth. Coals were kindled by it.

³ Our God comes, and does not keep silent. A fire devours before him. It is very stormy around him.

¹ [For the Chief Musician. To the tune of "Silent Dove in Distant Lands." A poem by David, when the Philistines seized him in Gath.] Be merciful to me, God, for man wants to swallow me up. All day long, he attacks and oppresses me. ² My enemies want to swallow me up all day long, for they are many who fight proudly against me.

¹⁷ The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.

¹¹ LORD, your hand is lifted up, yet they do not see; they see the zeal of the people, and are ashamed. Yes, fire will consume your adversaries.

² The LORD has swallowed up all the habitations of Jacob, and has not pitied. He has thrown down in his wrath the strongholds of the daughter of Judah. He has brought them down to the ground; he has humiliated the kingdom and its rulers.

²⁰ He commanded certain mighty men who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. ²¹ Then these men were bound in their cloaks, trousers, their turbans, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. ²² Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

⁶ Who can stand before his indignation? Who can endure the fierceness of his anger? His wrath is poured out like fire, and the rocks are broken apart by him.

¹ "For, look, the day comes, it burns as a furnace; and all the proud, and all who work wickedness, will be stubble; and the day that comes will burn them up," says the LORD of hosts, "that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

¹⁰ "Even now the axe lies at the root of the trees. Therefore, every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire.

¹² His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor. He will gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire."

⁴² and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and the grinding of teeth.

⁷ The king was enraged, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.

⁴¹ Then he will say also to those on the left hand, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels;

⁴⁶ These will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into everlasting life."

¹⁶ forbidding us to speak to those who are not Jewish that they may be saved; to fill up their sins always. But wrath has come on them to the uttermost.

⁸ giving vengeance to those who do not know God, and to those who do not obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus,

¹⁶ They told the mountains and the rocks, "Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, ¹⁷ for the great day of their wrath has come; and who is able to stand?"

¹⁴ Death and hell were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.

³⁴ This thing became sin to the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off, and to destroy it from off the surface of the earth.

¹⁶ His roots shall be dried up beneath. Above shall his branch be cut off. ¹⁷ His memory shall perish from the earth. He shall have no name in the street. ¹⁸ He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world. ¹⁹ He shall have neither son nor grandson among his people, nor any remaining where he sojourned.

²⁸ The increase of his house shall depart. They shall rush away in the day of his wrath.

²⁸ For the LORD loves justice, and doesn't forsake his faithful ones. They are preserved forever, but the children of the wicked shall be cut off.

¹³ Let his posterity be cut off. In the generation following let their name be blotted out.

²⁰ You will not join them in burial, because you have destroyed your land. You have killed your people. The offspring of evildoers will not be mentioned forever.

¹ Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot in vain?

² In arrogance, the wicked hunt down the weak. They are caught in the schemes that they devise.

¹³ For I have heard the slander of many, terror on every side, while they conspire together against me, they plot to take away my life.

²⁰ For they do not speak peace, but they devise deceitful words against those who are quiet in the land.

⁴ "Come," they say, "and let's destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more."

⁶ "Let's go up against Judah, and tear it apart, and let's divide it among ourselves, and set up a king in its midst, even the son of Tabeel." ⁷ This is what the Lord GOD says: "It shall not stand, neither shall it happen."

⁹ Make an uproar, you peoples, and be broken in pieces. Listen, all you from far countries. Prepare for battle, and be shattered. ¹⁰ Take counsel together, and it will be brought to nothing; speak the word, and it will not stand: for God is with us."

¹⁸ The LORD gave me knowledge of it, and I knew it: then you showed me their doings. ¹⁹ But I was like a gentle lamb that is led to the slaughter; and I did not know that they had devised devices against me, saying, "Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered."

² He said to me, "Son of man, these are the men who devise iniquity, and who give wicked counsel in this city;

⁸ And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, "Go and search diligently for the young child, and when you have found him, bring me word, so that I also may come and worship him."

¹⁶ Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the Magi, was exceedingly angry, and sent out, and killed all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all the surrounding countryside, from two years old and under, according to the exact time which he had learned from the Magi.

⁴⁶ When they sought to seize him, they feared the crowds, because they considered him to be a prophet.

⁴ They took counsel together that they might take Jesus by deceit, and kill him. ⁵ But they said, "Not during the feast, lest a riot occur among the people."

⁶³ saying, "Sir, we remember what that deceiver said while he was still alive: 'After three days I will rise again.' ⁶⁴ Command therefore that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest perhaps his disciples come and steal him away, and tell the people, 'He is risen from the dead;' and the last deception will be worse than the first."

² And look, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from the sky, and came and rolled away the stone, and sat on it. ³ His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. ⁴ For fear of him, the guards shook, and became like dead men. ⁵ The angel answered the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus, who has been crucified. ⁶ He is not here, for he has risen, just like he said. Come, see the place where he was lying.

¹⁷ But so this does not spread any further among the people, let us severely threaten them, that from now on they do not speak to anyone in this name." ¹⁸ They called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

²⁷ When they had brought them, they set them before the council. The high priest questioned them, ²⁸ saying, "Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and intend to bring this man's blood on us."

²⁰ If I have sinned, what do I do to you, you watcher of men? Why have you set me as a mark for you, so that I am a burden to myself?

¹² I was at ease, and he broke me apart. Yes, he has taken me by the neck, and dashed me to pieces. He has also set me up for his target. ¹³ His archers surround me. He splits my kidneys apart, and does not spare. He pours out my gall on the ground.

¹² If a man doesn't relent, he will sharpen his sword; he has bent and strung his bow. ¹³ He has also prepared for himself deadly weapons. He makes ready his flaming arrows.

³ When my enemies turn back, they stumble and perish in your presence.

¹⁴ And he sent out arrows and scattered them, and he shot lightning bolts and routed them.

⁴⁰ You have also made my enemies turn their backs to me, that I might cut off those who hate me.

¹⁰ You make us turn back from the adversary. Those who hate us take spoil for themselves.

⁹ Then my enemies shall turn back in the day that I call. I know this, that God is for me.

⁷ But God will shoot at them. They will be suddenly struck down with an arrow.

¹² He has bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.

¹¹ Yours, LORD, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. For all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, LORD, and you are exalted as head above all.

¹⁹ If it is a matter of strength, look, he is mighty. And if of justice, who will summon him?

⁴⁶ The LORD lives; and blessed be my rock. Exalted be the God of my salvation,

¹⁰ "Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth."

¹⁰ The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance. He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked; ¹¹ so that men shall say, "Most certainly there is a reward for the righteous. Most certainly there is a God who judges the earth."

⁵ Who is like the LORD, our God, who has his seat on high,

¹⁰ Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

¹³ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.'

¹⁷ saying: "We give you thanks, Lord God of hosts, the one who is and who was; because you have taken your great power, and reigned.

³ They sang the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, "Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God of hosts. Righteous and true are your ways, King of the nations. ⁴ Who would not fear you, Lord, and glorify your name? For you only are holy. For all the nations will come and worship before you. For your righteous acts have been revealed."

⁵ I heard the angel of the waters saying, "You are righteous, who is and who was, the Holy One, because you have judged these things. ⁶ For they poured out the blood of the saints and the prophets, and you have given them blood to drink. They deserve this." ⁷ I heard the altar saying, "Yes, Lord God of hosts, true and righteous are your judgments."

²⁰ "Rejoice over her, O heaven, you saints, apostles, and prophets; for God has judged your judgment on her."

¹ After these things I heard something like a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, "Hallelujah. Salvation, glory, and power belong to our God: ² for true and righteous are his judgments. For he has judged the great prostitute, who corrupted the earth with her sexual immorality, and he has avenged the blood of his servants at her hand." ³ A second said, "Hallelujah. Her smoke goes up forever and ever." ⁴ The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sits on the throne, saying, "Amen. Hallelujah." ⁵ A voice came forth from the throne, saying, "Give praise to our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, the small and the great." ⁶ I heard something like the voice of a great multitude, and like the voice of many waters, and like the voice of mighty thunders, saying, "Hallelujah. For the Lord our God of hosts reigns.
