50 Joseph was a member of the council and a good and righteous man.

Matthew 27:57-61
57 A disciple of Jesus named Joseph, a rich man from Arimathea,
58 went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Pilate commanded that it be given to him.
59 Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth.
60 He laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut out of the rock. Then he rolled a great stone in front of the door of the tomb, and departed.
61 Mary Magdalene was near the tomb. The other Mary was also there.
Mark 15:42-47
42 Evening arrived. It was the Preparation Day (Exodus 16:22-27), the day before the Sabbath.
43 Joseph of Arimathaea was a prominent council member who also was looking for the Kingdom of God. He boldly approached Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body.
44 Pilate wondered if he were already dead. So he summoned the centurion and asked him about the death.
45 When the centurion confirmed it he granted the body to Joseph.
46 He bought a linen cloth, and taking him down, wound him in the linen cloth. Then he laid him in a tomb that had been cut out of a rock. He rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.
47 Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of Joses, saw where he was laid.
Luke 2:25
25 There was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout. He was waiting for God to save Israel. God’s Holy Spirit was working in him.
John 19:38-42
38 Joseph of Arimathaea was a disciple of Jesus. He approached Pilate secretly for fear of the Jews. He asked Pilate for permission to take away the body of Jesus. Pilate gave him permission. So he took the body away.
39 Nicodemus also came with a mixture of myrrh and about a hundred pounds of aloes. Nicodemus is the one who came to Jesus at night.
40 They prepared the body of Jesus for burial. They bound it in linen cloths with spices. This was the custom of the Jews.
41 There was a garden at the place where he was impaled. It contained a new tomb where no one had been buried.
42 They laid Jesus there because the Jews Preparation was close at hand.

2 He was a devout man who respected God with his entire household. He gave many gifts of mercy to the people and prayed to God always.
