³ And every man who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure.

⁴⁸ Therefore be perfect, as your Father who is in heaven is perfect.

³⁶ Be merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

⁹ And he made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

⁴ And perseverance, character; and character, hope: ⁵ And hope does not disappoint; because the love of God has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

¹² And again, Isaiah says, The root of Jesse shall come, and he shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles hope.

¹ Therefore, having these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

⁵ Because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you have already heard in the word of truth, the gospel;

¹⁶ Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who has loved us, and has given us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,

⁷ That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs, having the hope of eternal life.

¹⁸ That by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us might have a strong encouragement.

²⁶ For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, blameless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and exalted above the heavens;

¹⁴ Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.

⁴ By which he has given to us exceedingly great and precious promises: that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

¹⁴ Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for these things, be diligent that you may be found at peace with him, without spot, and blameless.

⁶ He who says he abides in him ought also to walk as he walked.

¹⁷ In this is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so we are in this world.
