¹⁴ But even if you do suffer for righteousness' sake, you are blessed. And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled;

¹⁰ Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. ¹¹ Blessed are you, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. ¹² Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

¹⁸ And you shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, as a testimony to them and the Gentiles. ¹⁹ But when they deliver you up, do not be anxious about how or what you shall speak: for it shall be given to you in that hour what you shall speak. ²⁰ For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you. ²¹ And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. ²² And you shall be hated by all men for my name's sake: but he who endures to the end shall be saved.

²⁸ And do not fear those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

³¹ Therefore, do not fear; you are of more value than many sparrows.

³⁹ He who finds his life shall lose it: and he who loses his life for my sake shall find it.

²⁵ For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it: and whoever loses his life for my sake shall find it.

²⁹ And every one who has forsaken houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit eternal life.

³⁵ For whoever would save his life shall lose it; but whoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, shall save it.

²⁹ And Jesus answered and said, Truly I say to you, There is no man who has left house, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,

²² Blessed are you, when men hate you, and when they exclude you, and insult you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. ²³ Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward in heaven is great: for their fathers did the same to the prophets.

⁴ And I say to you, my friends, Do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. ⁵ But I will warn you whom to fear: Fear him, who after he has killed has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, Fear him.

¹ Let not your hearts be troubled: believe in God, believe also in me.

²⁷ Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you: not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

¹⁶ I will show him how much he must suffer for my name's sake.

⁹ Then the Lord spoke to Paul at night by a vision, Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not hold your peace: ¹⁰ For I am with you, and no man shall attack and hurt you: for I have many people in this city.

¹⁰ Therefore, for Christ's sake, I take pleasure in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in distresses: for when I am weak, then I am strong.

²⁹ For to you it is granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for his sake;

¹² Blessed is the man who endures trial: for when he has stood the test, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to those who love him.

¹⁹ For this is commendable, if for the sake of conscience toward God, a man endures sorrow while suffering wrongfully. ²⁰ For what credit is there, if, when you are beaten for your wrongs, you endure it patiently? but if, when you do well, and suffer for it, you endure it patiently, this is commendable before God.

⁶ Thus Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: and you are her daughters, if you do right, and do not give way to fear.

¹³ But rejoice, insofar as you are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, you may be triumphantly joyful. ¹⁴ Blessed are you if you are insulted for the name of Christ; for the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. ¹⁵ But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a meddler in other men's affairs. ¹⁶ Yet if any man suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God that he bears that name.
