¹ There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:

¹³ And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,

¹⁰ Jesus answered and said to him, Are you a teacher of Israel, and do not know these things?

⁴⁷ Then the Pharisees answered them, Are you also deceived? ⁴⁸ Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in him? ⁴⁹ But this crowd, which does not know the law, is cursed. ⁵⁰ Nicodemus (who came to Jesus earlier, and who was one of them) said to them,

³⁹ And Nicodemus also came, who first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds' weight.
