¹⁷ And he thought to himself, What shall I do, because I have no room to store my crops?

⁴² Give to him who asks from you, and do not turn away from him who would borrow from you.

¹¹ He answered and said to them, He who has two coats, let him share with him who has none; and he who has food, let him do likewise.

²⁵ And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tested him, saying, Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

⁴¹ But rather give what you have within as alms; and, behold, all things are clean for you.

²² And he said to his disciples, Therefore I say to you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat; or for the body, what you shall put on.

²⁹ And do not seek what you shall eat, or what you shall drink, and do not be of an anxious mind.

³³ Sell what you have, and give alms; provide yourselves purses which do not grow old, a treasure in heaven that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.

¹³ But when you have a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: ¹⁴ And you shall be blessed; for they cannot repay you: but you shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just.

³ Then the steward said to himself, What shall I do? for my lord is taking away my stewardship: I am not strong enough to dig; and I am ashamed to beg.

⁹ And I say to you, Make friends for yourselves using worldly wealth; that, when it fails, they may receive you into the eternal habitations.

²² Now when Jesus heard this, he said to him, You still lack one thing: sell all that you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

¹⁷ And he said to him, Well done, you good servant: because you have been faithful in a very little, take authority over ten cities.

³⁷ Now when they heard this, they were pricked to the heart, and said to Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Brethren, what shall we do?

³⁰ And brought them out, and said, Men, what must I do to be saved?

¹³ Contributing to the saints who are in need; practicing hospitality.

⁶ Now this I say, He who sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly; and he who sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully. ⁷ Every man must do as he has decided in his heart; not grudgingly, or under compulsion: for God loves a cheerful giver. ⁸ And God is able to make all grace abound to you; that you, always having enough in all things, may abound in every good work. ⁹ As it is written, He has scattered abroad; he has given to the poor: his righteousness endures forever. ¹⁰ Now he who provides seed to the sower and bread for food, will supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness; ¹¹ You will be enriched in everything, so you can be generous, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. ¹² For the performance of this service not only supplies the wants of the saints, but also overflows in many thanksgivings to God. ¹³ Because of the proof given by this service, they will glorify God because of your obedience to the gospel of Christ, which you profess, and for your liberal contribution to them, and to all; ¹⁴ And in their prayers, their hearts will go out to you because of the surpassing grace of God in you. ¹⁵ Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift.

¹⁷ Command those who are rich in this world not to be arrogant, nor to trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who richly gives us all things to enjoy.

¹⁶ By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
