⁴⁴ He said to them, These are the words which I spoke to you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled which are written about me in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms.

²¹ From that time forth Jesus began to show to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised on the third day.

²² And when they came together in Galilee, Jesus said to them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: ²³ And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceedingly sorry.

¹⁸ Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, ¹⁹ And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and on the third day he shall be raised up.

⁵⁴ But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that say it must happen this way?

⁵⁶ But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.

³¹ And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, and by the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. ³² And he spoke this plainly. And Peter took him aside, and began to rebuke him.

³¹ For he taught his disciples, and said to them, The Son of man will be delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after he is killed, he shall rise on the third day.

³³ Saying, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered to the chief priests, and to the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles: ³⁴ And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.

²² Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised on the third day.

⁴⁴ Let these words sink down into your ears: the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.

³¹ Then he took the twelve aside, and said to them, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. ³² For he shall be delivered to the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully treated, and spit upon: ³³ And they shall flog him, and put him to death: and on the third day he shall rise again. ³⁴ And they understood none of these things: this saying was hidden from them, and they did not comprehend the things which were spoken.

²² For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

³⁷ For I say to you, that this scripture must yet be fulfilled in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for that which refers to me has its fulfillment.

⁶ He is not here, but has risen: remember how he spoke to you when he was still in Galilee, ⁷ Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

²⁶ Was it not necessary for the Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? ²⁷ And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he explained to them all the things concerning himself in the scriptures.

⁴⁶ And said to them, Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer, and rise from the dead on the third day:

¹⁴ And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up:

³⁹ You search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life: and it is they that testify of me.

⁴⁶ For had you believed Moses, you would have believed me: for he wrote of me.

⁴ But these things I have spoken to you, that when the time shall come, you may remember that I told you of them. These things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you. ⁵ But now I go to him who sent me; and none of you asks me, Where are you going?

¹⁶ In a little while you shall not see me: and again, in a little while, you shall see me. ¹⁷ Then some of his disciples said among themselves, What is this that he says to us, In a little while you shall not see me: and again, in a little while, you shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?

¹¹ And now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to you. Holy Father, keep those whom you have given me in your own name, that they may be one, as we are. ¹² While I was with them in the world, I kept them in your name: those you gave me I have kept, and none of them has been lost, except the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. ¹³ And now I come to you; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

²⁴ Therefore they said among themselves, Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, to decide whose it shall be. This was so the scripture might be fulfilled, which says, They divided my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots. Therefore the soldiers did these things. ²⁵ Now by the cross of Jesus stood his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. ²⁶ When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved, standing by, he said to his mother, Woman, behold your son! ²⁷ Then he said to the disciple, Behold your mother! And from that hour that disciple took her into his own home. ²⁸ After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, said in fulfillment of the scripture, I thirst. ²⁹ Now there was a vessel full of vinegar set there: and they soaked a sponge with vinegar, and put it upon a hyssop branch, and held it to his mouth. ³⁰ When Jesus received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up his spirit. ³¹ Because it was the day of preparation, in order that the bodies would not remain upon the cross during the sabbath day (for that sabbath day was a high day,) the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. ³² The soldiers came and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who was crucified with him. ³³ But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they did not break his legs: ³⁴ But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately there came out blood and water. ³⁵ And he who saw it has borne witness, and his witness is true: and he knows what he says is true, that you also might believe. ³⁶ For these things came to pass that the scripture should be fulfilled, Not one of his bones shall be broken. ³⁷ And again another scripture says, They shall look on him whom they have pierced.

¹⁸ But those things which God foretold by the mouths of all his prophets, that his Christ should suffer, he has fulfilled.

²² For Moses said, The Lord your God shall raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brethren; you shall hear him in all things, whatever he shall say to you. ²³ And it shall come to pass, that anyone who will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people. ²⁴ Yea, and all the prophets, from Samuel and those who followed after, as many as have spoken, have foretold these days.

³⁷ This is the Moses who said to the sons of Israel, The Lord your God shall raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brethren.

²⁹ And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a tomb. ³⁰ But God raised him from the dead: ³¹ And he was seen for many days by those who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses to the people.

³³ God has fulfilled to us, their children, in that he has raised up Jesus again; as it is written in the second psalm, You are my Son, this day I have begotten you.

² And Paul, as his manner was, went in to them, and for three sabbath days reasoned with them from the scriptures, ³ Explaining and proving, that Christ needed to suffer, and to rise again from the dead; and saying, this Jesus, whom I preach to you, is the Christ.

³ For I delivered to you as of first importance that which I received, that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; ⁴ And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

⁵ And Moses was faithful in all his house, as a servant, as a testimony of those things which were to be spoken later;

¹ For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;

⁸ By this the Holy Spirit signifies that the way into the holiest of all has not yet been disclosed, while the first room of the tabernacle remains standing,

¹ For the law, being only a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never by those sacrifices, which are offered year by year, continually, make perfect those who draw near.

¹¹ Seeking to find to whom and when the Spirit of Christ within them was pointing, when he testified beforehand of the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that should follow.

¹⁰ And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said to me, Do not do that: I am a fellow servant with you and your brethren, who hold to the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
