⁵ And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

¹⁹ Whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, with minds set on earthly things.

⁷ For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work: only he who now restrains it will do so, until he is taken out of the way.

¹ But know this also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. ² For men shall be lovers of their own selves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, ³ Without natural affection, implacable, false accusers, intemperate, fierce, despisers of good, ⁴ Treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God; ⁵ Holding to a form of godliness, but denying its power. From such men turn away.

³ Saying, Do not hurt the earth, or the sea, or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.

⁸ And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which figuratively is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.

⁸ And there followed another angel, saying, Fallen, fallen, is Babylon the great, she who made all the nations drink of the maddening wine of her adulteries.

¹⁹ And the great city was broken into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and God remembered Babylon the great, to give her the cup of the wine of the fury of his wrath.

⁷ And the angel said to me, Why do you wonder? I will tell you the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and ten horns.

² And he cried out with a mighty voice, saying, Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great. It has become the dwelling place of devils, and the haunt of every foul spirit, and a haunt of every unclean and loathsome bird.

⁹ And the kings of the earth, who have committed adultery and lived luxuriously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning; ¹⁰ They shall stand far off in fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, the great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour your judgment has come.

²¹ And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, With such violence shall the great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall never be found again.

² For true and righteous are his judgments: for he has judged the great harlot, who corrupted the earth with her adulteries, and has avenged on her the blood of his servants.
