⁷ As she glorified herself and lived in luxury, give to her that measure of torment and grief: for she says in her heart, I sit as a queen, and am no widow, and shall never see sorrow.

⁴ Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he sits as God in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. ⁵ Do you not remember, that when I was yet with you, I told you these things? ⁶ And you know what restrains him now, that he might be revealed in his time. ⁷ For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work: only he who now restrains it will do so, until he is taken out of the way. ⁸ And then shall the lawless one be revealed, whom the Lord shall slay with the breath of his mouth, and shall destroy by the brightness of his coming.
