² that you be not quickly shaken in mind, nor be troubled, neither through spirit, neither through word, neither through letters as through us, as that the day of Christ has arrived;

⁴ And Jesus answering said to them, 'Take heed that no one may lead you astray, ⁵ for many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, and they shall lead many astray, ⁶ and you shall begin to hear of wars, and reports of wars; see, be not troubled, for it behooves all these to come to pass, but the end is not yet.

²⁴ for there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and they shall give great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, also the chosen.

⁷ and when you may hear of wars and reports of wars, be not troubled, for these behoove to be, but the end is not yet;

⁹ and when you may hear of wars and uprisings, be not terrified, for it is necessary for these things to happen first, but the end is not immediately.'

¹⁹ in your patience possess you your souls.

¹ 'Let not your heart be troubled, believe in God, also in me believe;

²⁷ 'Peace I leave to you; my peace I give to you, not according as the world does give do I give to you; let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid;

²³ save that the Holy Spirit in every city does testify fully, saying, that for me bonds and tribulations remain; ²⁴ but I make account of none of these, neither do I count my life precious to myself, so that I finish my course with joy, and the ministration that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify fully the good news of the grace of God.

⁸ who also shall confirm you unto the end -- unblameable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ;

⁶ Let no one deceive you with vain words, for because of these things comes the anger of God upon the sons of the disobedience,

³ that no one be moved in these tribulations, for yourselves have known that for this we are set,

¹⁵ for this to you we say in the word of the Lord, that we who are living -- who do remain over to the presence of the Lord -- may not precede those asleep,

² for yourselves have known thoroughly that the day of the Lord as a thief in the night does so come,

¹⁵ so, then, brethren, stand you fast, and hold the deliverances that you were taught, whether through word, whether through our letter;

¹⁷ The salutation by the hand of me, Paul, which is a sign in every letter; thus I write;

¹ And there did come also false prophets among the people, as also among you there shall be false teachers, who shall bring in besides destructive sects, and the Master who bought them denying, bringing to themselves quick destruction, ² and many shall follow out their destructive ways, because of whom the way of the truth shall be evil spoken of, ³ and in covetousness, with molded words, of you they shall make merchandise, whose judgment of old is not idle, and their destruction does not slumber.

⁴ and saying, 'Where is the promise of his presence? for since the fathers did fall asleep, all things so remain from the beginning of the creation;' ⁵ for this is unobserved by them willingly, that the heavens were of old, and the earth out of water and through water standing together by the word of God, ⁶ through which the then world, by water having been deluged, was destroyed; ⁷ and the present heavens and the earth, by the same word are treasured, for fire being kept to a day of judgment and destruction of the impious men. ⁸ And this one thing let not be unobserved by you, beloved, that one day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day;

¹ Beloved, every spirit believe not, but prove the spirits, if of God they are, because many false prophets have gone forth to the world; ² in this know you the Spirit of God; every spirit that does confess Jesus Christ in the flesh having come, of God it is,

²⁰ and the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet who did the signs before him, in which he led astray those who did receive the mark of the beast, and those who did bow before his image; living they were cast -- the two -- to the lake of the fire, that is burning with brimstone;
