³² But I tell you, that whoever puts away his wife, except for adultery, causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries her that is put away, commits adultery.

²⁸ but I tell you, that every one who looks on a woman to desire her inordinately, has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

⁸ He said to them, Moses, on account of your hardness of heart, allowed you to put away your wives; but from the beginning it was not so. ⁹ And I tell you, that whoever puts away his wife, except for adultery, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her that is put away, commits adultery.

¹⁸ Every one that puts away his wife and marries another, commits adultery; and he that marries a woman put away from a husband, commits adultery.

³ Therefore while the husband lives, she shall be called an adulteress if she is married to another man; but if the husband has died, she is free from the law, so that she is not an adulteress if married to another man. ⁴ The wife has not the right to her body, but the husband; and in like manner the husband has not the right to his body, but the wife.

¹⁰ But the married I charge, not I, but the Lord, Let not a wife separate from her husband, ¹¹ and also if she is separated let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to the husband, and let not a husband leave his wife.
