Tell us, what we shall send with it to its place." ³ And they said, "If you send away the ark of the God of Israel, do not send it empty; but in any case return it with a trespass offering: Then you shall be healed, and it shall be known to you why His hand is not removed from you." ⁴ Then they said, "What shall be the trespass offering which we shall return to Him?" They answered, "Five golden hemorrhoids, and five golden mice, according to the number of the lords of the Philistines: For one plague was on you all, and on your lords. ⁵ For this reason you shall make images of your hemorrhoids, and images of your mice that mar the land; and you shall give glory to the God of Israel: Perhaps He will lighten His hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land. ⁶ Why then do you harden your hearts, as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? When He had worked wonders among them, did they not let the people go, and they departed? ⁷ Now therefore make a new cart, and take two milk cows, on which there has come no yoke, and tie the cows to the cart, and bring their calves home from them: ⁸ And take the ark of the LORD, and lay it upon the cart; and put the jewels of gold, which you return Him for a trespass offering, in a chest by its side; and send it away, that it may go. ⁹ And observe, if it goes up by the roadway of its own border to Beth-Shemesh, then He has done us this great evil: But if not, then we shall know that it is not His hand that smote us. It was a chance that happened to us." ¹⁰ And the men did so; and they took two milk cows, and tied them to the cart, and shut up their calves at home: ¹¹ And they laid the ark of the LORD upon the cart, and the chest with the mice of gold and the images of their hemorrhoids. ¹² And the cows took the straight way to the road of Beth-Shemesh, and went along the highway, lowing as they went, and did not turn aside to the right-hand or to the left; and the lords of the Philistines went after them to the border of Beth-Shemesh. ¹³ And those of Beth-Shemesh were reaping their wheat harvest in the valley: And they lifted up their eyes, and saw the ark, and rejoiced to see it. ¹⁴ And the cart came into the field of Joshua, a Bethshemite, and stood there, where there was a great stone: And they broke through the wood of the cart, and offered the cows as a burnt offering to the LORD. ¹⁵ And the Levites took down the ark of the LORD, and the chest that was with it, in which the jewels of gold were, and put them on the great stone: And the men of Beth-Shemesh offered burnt offerings and sacrificed sacrifices the same day to the LORD. ¹⁶ And when the five lords of the Philistines had seen it, they returned to Ekron the same day. ¹⁷ And these are the golden hemorrhoids which the Philistines returned for a trespass offering to the LORD: For Ashdod, one; for Gaza, one; for Askelon one; for Gath, one; for Ekron, one. ¹⁸ And the golden mice, according to the number of all the cities of the Philistines belonging to the five lords, both of fortified cities, and of country villages, even to the great stone of Abel, on which they set down the ark of the LORD: Which stone remains to this day in the field of Joshua, the Bethshemite. ¹⁹ And He smote the men of Beth-Shemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the LORD, He even smote from the people fifty thousand and seventy men: And the people lamented, because the LORD had smote many of the people with a great slaughter. ²⁰ And the men of Beth-Shemesh said, "Who is able to stand before this holy LORD God? And to whom shall He go up from us?" ²¹ And they sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kirjath-Jearim, saying, "The Philistines have brought back the ark of the LORD; you come down, and bring it up to you."

¹ And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Ebenezer to Ashdod.

³ And when those of Ashdod arose early on the next day, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the LORD. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again.

¹⁰ Therefore they sent the ark of God to Ekron. And it came to pass, as the ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, "They have brought around the ark of the God of Israel to us, to slay us and our people." ¹¹ So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, "Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to his own place, that it does not slay us, and our people": For there was a deadly destruction throughout all the city: The hand of God was very heavy there.

⁶¹ and delivered His strength into captivity, and His glory into the enemy's hand.

⁸ And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men of it: And Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them to Pharaoh.

¹¹ Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: Now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.

⁶ Therefore You have forsaken Your people the house of Jacob, because they are replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.

¹² Stand now with your enchantments, and with the multitude of your sorceries, in which you have labored from your youth; if so perhaps you shall be able to profit, if so perhaps you may prevail. ¹³ You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save you from these things that shall come on you.

² Then the king commanded to call to the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, to show the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.

⁷ The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spoke, and said to the wise men of Babylon, "Whoever shall read this writing, and show me the interpretation of it, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold around his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom."

⁶ With what shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old? ⁷ Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? ⁸ He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God? ⁹ The LORD's voice cries to the city, and the man of wisdom shall see Your name: "Hear the rod all you, and Who has appointed it.

⁴ And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.

¹⁵ You shall keep the feast of unleavened bread: (you shall eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded you, in the time appointed of the month Abib; for in it you came out from Egypt: And none shall appear before Me empty):

²⁰ But the firstling of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb: And if you do not redeem him, then you shall break his neck. All the firstborn of your sons you shall redeem. And none shall appear before Me empty.

⁶ And he shall bring his trespass offering to the LORD for his sin which he has sinned, a female from the flock, a lamb or a kid of the goats, for a sin offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his sin.

¹⁵ if a soul commit a trespass, and sin through ignorance, in the holy things of the LORD; then he shall bring for his trespass to the LORD a ram without blemish out of the flocks, with your estimation by shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary, for a trespass offering. ¹⁶ And he shall make amends for the harm that he has done in the holy thing, and shall add the fifth part thereto, and give it to the priest: And the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering, and it shall be forgiven him. ¹⁷ And if a soul sin, and commit any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the LORD; though he knew it not, yet is he guilty, and shall bear his iniquity. ¹⁸ And he shall bring a ram without blemish out of the flock, with your estimation, for a trespass offering, to the priest: And the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his ignorance in which he erred and knew it not, and it shall be forgiven him. ¹⁹ It is a trespass offering: He has certainly trespassed against the LORD.

⁶ And he shall bring his trespass offering to the LORD, a ram without blemish out of the flock, with your estimation, for a trespass offering, to the priest:

¹ Likewise this is the law of the trespass offering: It is most holy. ² In the place where they kill the burnt offering shall they kill the trespass offering: And its blood shall he sprinkle all around upon the altar. ³ And he shall offer of it all its fat; the rump, and the fat that covers the inwards, ⁴ and the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the flanks, and the lobe that is above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away: ⁵ And the priest shall burn them on the altar for an offering made by fire to the LORD: It is a trespass offering. ⁶ Every male among the priests shall eat of it: It shall be eaten in the holy place: It is most holy. ⁷ As the sin offering is, so is the trespass offering: There is one law for them: The priest that makes atonement therewith shall have it.

¹⁶ Three times in a year shall all your males appear before the LORD your God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: And they shall not appear before the LORD empty:

⁷ And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, "The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us: For His hand is heavy upon us and upon Dagon our god."

⁹ And it was so, that after they had carried it around, the hand of the LORD was against the city with a very great destruction: And He smote the men of the city, both small and great, and they had hemorrhoids in their secret parts.

¹¹ So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, "Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to his own place, that it does not slay us, and our people": For there was a deadly destruction throughout all the city: The hand of God was very heavy there.

⁹ And observe, if it goes up by the roadway of its own border to Beth-Shemesh, then He has done us this great evil: But if not, then we shall know that it is not His hand that smote us. It was a chance that happened to us."

² I will say to God, Do not condemn me; show me why you contend with me.

³¹ Surely it is meet to be said to God, "I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more: ³² That which I see not teach you me: If I have done iniquity, I will do no more.

³⁵ And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed from the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and clothing:

³ from Sihor, which is before Egypt, even to the borders of Ekron northward, which is counted to the Canaanite: Five lords of the Philistines; the Gazathites, and the Ashdothites, the Eshkalonites, the Gittites, and the Ekronites; also the Avites:

³ namely, five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites that dwelled in Mount Lebanon, from Mount Baalhermon to the entering in of Hamath.

⁶ But the hand of the LORD was heavy upon the people of Ashdod, and He destroyed them, and smote them with hemorrhoids, even Ashdod and its borders.

¹² And the men that did not die were stricken with the hemorrhoids: And the cry of the city went up to heaven.

⁵ For this reason you shall make images of your hemorrhoids, and images of your mice that mar the land; and you shall give glory to the God of Israel: Perhaps He will lighten His hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land.

⁵ And the LORD spoke to Moses, "Say to Aaron, 'Stretch forth your hand with your rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up upon the land of Egypt.' "

¹⁷ And they did so; for Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and smote the dust of the earth, and it became lice in man, and in beast; all the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt.

²⁴ And the LORD did so; and there came a grievous swarm of flies into the house of Pharaoh, and into his servants' houses, and into all the land of Egypt: The land was corrupted by reason of the swarm of flies.

¹⁴ And the locust went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the borders of Egypt: Very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such. ¹⁵ For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they ate every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: And there did not remain any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.

¹² For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and I will execute judgment against all the gods of Egypt: I am the LORD.

⁴ For the Egyptians buried all their firstborn, which the LORD had smitten among them: On their gods also the LORD executed judgments.

¹⁹ And Joshua said to Achan, "My son, give, I implore you, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession to him; and tell me now what you have done; hide it not from me.

³ And when those of Ashdod arose early on the next day, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the LORD. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again. ⁴ And when they arose early on the next morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him.

⁶ But the hand of the LORD was heavy upon the people of Ashdod, and He destroyed them, and smote them with hemorrhoids, even Ashdod and its borders. ⁷ And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, "The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us: For His hand is heavy upon us and upon Dagon our god."

⁴⁴ As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: The strangers shall submit themselves to me.

⁴ For day and night your hand was heavy upon me: My moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.

¹⁰ Remove Your stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of Your hand.

³ Say to God, "How frightening You are in Your works! Through the greatness of Your power Your enemies shall submit themselves to You.

¹ The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rides on a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: And the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.

¹² Let them give glory to the LORD, and declare His praise in the islands.

¹³ Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have transgressed against the LORD your God, and have scattered your ways to the strangers under every green tree, and you have not obeyed My voice', said the LORD.

¹⁶ Give glory to the LORD your God, before He causes darkness, and before your feet stumble on the dark mountains, and, while you look for light, He turns it into the shadow of death, and makes it gross darkness.

⁴ That which the palmerworm has left the locust has eaten; and that which the locust has left the cankerworm has eaten; and that which the cankerworm has left the caterpillar has eaten. ⁵ Awake, you drunkards, and weep; and howl, all you drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth. ⁶ For a nation has come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he has the cheek teeth of a great lion. ⁷ He has laid My vine waste, and barked My fig tree: He has made it entirely bare, and cast it away; its branches are made white.

²⁵ And I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, My great army which I sent among you.

² If you all will not hear, and if you all will not lay it to heart, to give glory to My name", says the LORD of hosts, "I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: Yes, I have cursed them already, because you all do not lay it to heart.

²⁴ Therefore they again called the man who was blind, and said to him, "Give God the praise: We know that this Man is a sinner."

¹³ And the same hour there was a strong earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell, and in the earthquake seven thousand men were slain: And the remnant were frightened, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

⁷ saying with a loud voice, "Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment has come: And worship Him that made heaven, and earth, the sea, and fountains of waters."

⁹ And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which has power over these plagues: And they did not repent to give Him glory.

¹³ And He hardened Pharaoh's heart, that he did not hearken to them; as the LORD had said.

¹⁵ But when Pharaoh saw that there was respite, he hardened his heart, and did not hearken to them; as the LORD had said.

³² And Pharaoh hardened his heart at this time also, neither would he let the people go.

¹⁶ And in fact for this very cause I have raised you up, through you to show My power; and that My name may be declared throughout all the earth.

³⁴ And when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders were ceased, he sinned even more, and hardened his heart, he and his servants.

³ And Moses and Aaron came in to Pharaoh, and said to him, "Thus says the LORD God of the Hebrews, 'How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, that they may serve Me.

³¹ And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, "Rise up, and get yourselves out from among my people, both you and the children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as you have said. ³² Also take your flocks and your herds, as you have said, "and be gone; and bless me also." ³³ And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, "We are all dead men."

¹⁷ And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: And I will get Myself honor upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.

²³ And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.

¹⁴ The people shall hear, and be afraid: Sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina. ¹⁵ Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away. ¹⁶ Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of Your arm they shall be as still as a stone; until Your people pass over, O LORD, until the people which You have purchased pass over.

⁴ He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: Who has hardened himself against him, and has prospered?

⁸ "Do not harden your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

⁵ But according to your hardness and impenitent heart you treasure up for yourself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

¹³ But exhort one another daily, while it is called "Today"; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

² this is the ordinance of the law which the LORD has commanded, saying, "Speak to the children of Israel, that they bring you a red heifer without spot, in which is no blemish, and on which never came yoke:

³ And they set the ark of God on a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in Gibeah: And Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drove the new cart.

⁷ And they carried the ark of God in a new cart out of the house of Abinadab: And Uzza and Ahio drove the cart.

¹⁰ And the border compassed from Baalah westward to Mount Seir, and passed along to the side of Mount Jearim, which is Chesalon, on the north side, and went down to Bethshemesh, and passed on to Timnah:

¹⁶ and Ain with her suburbs, and Juttah with her suburbs, and Bethshemesh with her suburbs; nine cities out of those two tribes.

³ And they said, "If you send away the ark of the God of Israel, do not send it empty; but in any case return it with a trespass offering: Then you shall be healed, and it shall be known to you why His hand is not removed from you."

⁶ And the young man that told him said, "As I happened by chance upon Mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and lo, the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him.

¹¹ I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all.

¹¹ LORD, when Your hand is lifted up, they will not see: But they shall see, and be ashamed for their envy of the people; yes, the fire of Your enemies shall devour them.

⁶ Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? Shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD has not done it?

³¹ Now by chance a certain priest came down that road: And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

¹³ For because you did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach on us, for that we sought him not after the due order. ¹⁴ So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel. ¹⁵ And the children of the Levites bore the ark of God on their shoulders with the staffs on it, as Moses commanded according to the word of the LORD.

¹⁹ And the children of Israel said to him, "We will go by the high way: And if I and my domestic beasts drink of your water, then I will pay for it: I will only, without doing anything else, go through on my feet.

²⁴ You shall make to Me an altar of earth, and shall sacrifice your burnt offerings on it, and your peace offerings, your sheep, and your oxen: In all places where I record My name I will come to you, and I will bless you.

²⁶ And build an altar to the LORD your God on the top of this rock, in the ordered place, and take the second bull, and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the grove which you shall cut down.

⁴ And it came to pass on the next day, that the people rose early, and built an altar there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings.

⁹ And Samuel took a suckling lamb, and offered it for a whole burnt offering to the LORD: And Samuel cried out to the LORD for Israel; and the LORD heard him. ¹⁰ And as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel: But the LORD thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and crushed them; and they were beaten before Israel. ¹¹ And the men of Israel went out of Mizpeh, and pursued the Philistines, and smote them, until they came under Beth-Car. ¹² Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, "The LORD has helped us until now." ¹³ So the Philistines were subdued, and they did not come into the border of Israel any more: And the hand of the LORD was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel. ¹⁴ And the cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron even to Gath; and Israel delivered its borders out of the hands of the Philistines. And there was peace between Israel and the Amorites. ¹⁵ And Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life. ¹⁶ And he went from year to year in a circuit to Bethel, and Gilgal, and Mizpeh, and judged Israel in all those places. ¹⁷ And his return was to Ramah; for his house was there; and he judged Israel there; and he built an altar to the LORD there.

⁵ And behold, Saul came after the herd out of the field; and Saul said, "What ails the people that they weep?" And they told him the tidings of the men of Jabesh.

²⁹ And he said, 'Let me go, I implore you; for our family has a sacrifice in the city; and my brother, he has commanded me to be there: And now, if I have found favor in your eyes, let me get away, I implore you, and see my brothers. Therefore he does not come to the king's table.

¹⁸ And Gad came that day to David, and said to him, "Go up, raise an altar to the LORD in the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

²² And Araunah said to David, "Let my lord the king take and offer up what seems good to him: Behold, here be oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood.

²⁵ And David built an altar to the LORD there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the LORD was entreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.

³⁰ And Elijah said to all the people, Come near to me. And all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down. ³¹ And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the LORD came, saying, "Israel shall be your name: ³² And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: And he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed. ³³ And he put the wood in order, and cut the bull in pieces, and laid him on the wood, and said, "Fill four barrels with water, and pour it upon the burnt sacrifice, and on the wood. ³⁴ And he said, "Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, "Do it the third time. And they did it the third time. ³⁵ And the water ran all around the altar; and he filled the trench also with water. ³⁶ And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, "LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word. ³⁷ Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that you are the LORD God, and that you have turned their heart back again. ³⁸ Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

²¹ And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave to the people, and they ate. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered to him.

³ and they commanded the people, saying, "When you see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then you shall remove from your place, and go after it.

⁵ And the lords of the Philistines came up to her, and said to her, "Entice him, and see in what his great strength lies, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him: And we will give you, every one of us, eleven hundred pieces of silver."

²³ Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together to offer a great sacrifice to Dagon their god, and to rejoice: For they said, "Our god has delivered our enemy Samson into our hand." ²⁴ And when the people saw him, they praised their god: For they said, "Our god has delivered our enemy into our hands, and the destroyer of our country, which slew many of us." ²⁵ And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, "Call for Samson, that he may make us sport." And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: And they set him between the pillars. ²⁶ And Samson said to the lad that held him by the hand, "Permit me that I may feel the pillars upon which the house stands, that I may lean upon them." ²⁷ Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and upon the roof there were about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport. ²⁸ And Samson called to the LORD, and said, "O Lord GOD, remember me, I implore you, and strengthen me, I implore you, only this once, O God, that I may be avenged of the Philistines at once for my two eyes." ²⁹ And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and upon which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left. ³⁰ And Samson said, "Let me die with the Philistines." And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were in it. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than those which he slew in his life.

¹⁰ Therefore they sent the ark of God to Ekron. And it came to pass, as the ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, "They have brought around the ark of the God of Israel to us, to slay us and our people."

⁴ Then they said, "What shall be the trespass offering which we shall return to Him?" They answered, "Five golden hemorrhoids, and five golden mice, according to the number of the lords of the Philistines: For one plague was on you all, and on your lords.

¹² And the cows took the straight way to the road of Beth-Shemesh, and went along the highway, lowing as they went, and did not turn aside to the right-hand or to the left; and the lords of the Philistines went after them to the border of Beth-Shemesh.

¹⁸ Also Judah took Gaza with its coast, and Askelon with its coast, and Ekron with its coast.

¹ Then Samson went to Gaza, and saw there a harlot, and went in to her.

²¹ But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.

⁸ Therefore they sent and gathered all the lords of the Philistines to them, and said, "What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel?" And they answered, "Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried around to Gath." And they carried the ark of the God of Israel around to that place.

²⁰ Tell it not in Gath, do not publish it in the streets of Askelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.

²² These four were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

² And Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick: And he sent messengers, and said to them, "Go, inquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease.

⁶ And he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and broke down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines.

²⁰ and all the mingled people, and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod,

⁷ But I will send a fire upon the wall of Gaza, which shall devour its palaces: ⁸ And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and from him of Ashkelon that holds the scepter, and I will turn My hand against Ekron: And the remnant of the Philistines shall perish", says the Lord GOD.

² Pass over to Calneh, and see; and from there go to Hamath the great: Then go down to Gath of the Philistines: Are they better than these kingdoms? Or their border greater than your border?

⁵ Ashkelon shall see it, and fear; Gaza also shall see it, and be very sorrowful, and Ekron; for her expectation shall be ashamed; and the king shall perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited. ⁶ "And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.

⁵ All these cities were fenced with high walls, gates, and bars; beside unwalled towns a great many.

¹⁴ And the cart came into the field of Joshua, a Bethshemite, and stood there, where there was a great stone: And they broke through the wood of the cart, and offered the cows as a burnt offering to the LORD. ¹⁵ And the Levites took down the ark of the LORD, and the chest that was with it, in which the jewels of gold were, and put them on the great stone: And the men of Beth-Shemesh offered burnt offerings and sacrificed sacrifices the same day to the LORD. ¹⁶ And when the five lords of the Philistines had seen it, they returned to Ekron the same day.

²¹ And the LORD said to Moses, "Go down, solemnly warn the people, lest they break through to the LORD to gaze, and many of them perish.

¹ And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire in it, and put incense on it, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. ² And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. ³ Then Moses said to Aaron, "This is it that the LORD spoke, saying, "I will be sanctified in them that come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.

⁴ This shall be the service of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation, about the most holy things: ⁵ And when the camp sets forward, Aaron shall come, and his sons, and they shall take down the covering veil, and cover the ark of testimony with it:

¹⁵ And when Aaron and his sons have made an end of covering the sanctuary, and all the vessels of the sanctuary, as the camp is to set forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to bear it: But they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die. These things are the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation.

²⁰ But they shall not go in to see when the holy things are covered, lest they die.

²⁹ The secret things belong to the LORD our God: But those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.

⁷ And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.

⁹ And when they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled. ¹⁰ And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: And there he died before God.

¹⁸ Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshiping of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

¹⁷ For the time has come that judgment must begin at the house of God: And if it begins first with us, what shall be the end of those that do not obey the gospel of God?

⁴⁵ For I am the LORD that brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.

¹² And the children of Israel spoke to Moses, saying, "Behold, we die, we perish, we all perish. ¹³ Whoever comes anything near to the tabernacle of the LORD shall die: Shall we be consumed with dying?

⁸ Therefore they sent and gathered all the lords of the Philistines to them, and said, "What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel?" And they answered, "Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried around to Gath." And they carried the ark of the God of Israel around to that place. ⁹ And it was so, that after they had carried it around, the hand of the LORD was against the city with a very great destruction: And He smote the men of the city, both small and great, and they had hemorrhoids in their secret parts. ¹⁰ Therefore they sent the ark of God to Ekron. And it came to pass, as the ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, "They have brought around the ark of the God of Israel to us, to slay us and our people." ¹¹ So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, "Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to his own place, that it does not slay us, and our people": For there was a deadly destruction throughout all the city: The hand of God was very heavy there. ¹² And the men that did not die were stricken with the hemorrhoids: And the cry of the city went up to heaven.

⁹ And David was afraid of the LORD that day, and said, "How shall the ark of the LORD come to me?

¹¹ And David was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach on Uzza: Why that place is called Perezuzza to this day. ¹² And David was afraid of God that day, saying, "How shall I bring the ark of God home to me? ¹³ So David brought not the ark home to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite.

⁷ You, even You, are to be feared: And who may stand in Your sight when at once You are angry?

² "But who may abide the day of His coming? And who shall stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap:

⁸ When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord."

³⁷ Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes all around implored Him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: And He went up into the ship, and returned back again.

¹⁷ For the great day of His wrath has come; and who shall be able to stand?"

¹⁷ And the children of Israel journeyed, and came to their cities on the third day. Now their cities were Gibeon, and Chephirah, and Beeroth, and Kirjathjearim.

⁹ And the border was drawn from the top of the hill to the fountain of the water of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of Mount Ephron; and the border was drawn to Baalah, which is Kirjathjearim:

⁶⁰ Kirjathbaal, which is Kirjathjearim, and Rabbah; two cities with their villages:

¹⁴ And the border was drawn there, and compassed the corner of the sea southward, from the hill that lies before Bethhoron southward; and the goings out of it were at Kirjathbaal, which is Kirjathjearim, a city of the children of Judah: This was the west quarter.

¹² And they went up, and pitched in Kirjathjearim, in Judah: Why they called that place Mahanehdan to this day: Behold, it is behind Kirjathjearim.

⁵ So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor of Egypt even to the entering of Hemath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjathjearim. ⁶ And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kirjathjearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up there the ark of God the LORD, that dwells between the cherubims, whose name is called on it.

⁶⁰ So that He forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which He placed among men;

¹² "But all of you go now to My place which was in Shiloh, where I set My name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of My people Israel.

¹⁴ therefore I will do to this house, which is called by My name, in which you trust, and to the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.
