¹ This is a true saying: If a man desires the office of a bishop, he desires a good work. ² A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach; ³ not given to wine, doesn't strike others, not greedy of filthy profit; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; ⁴ one that rules his own house well, having his children in subjection with all gavity; ⁵ (For if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) ⁶ Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. ⁷ Moreover he must have a good report of those which are outside; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. ⁸ Likewise deacons must be honest, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for filthy profit; ⁹ holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. ¹⁰ And let these also first be proved; then let them administer the office of a deacon, being found blameless. ¹¹ Even so their wives must be honest, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. ¹² Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. ¹³ For those that have administered the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁴ These things I write to you, hoping to come to you shortly: ¹⁵ But if I tarry long, I write that you may know how you yourselves ought to behave in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. ¹⁶ And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen among angels, preached to the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

³⁰ The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that wins souls is wise.

¹⁰ Likewise, I say to you, There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

²⁰ For it is written in the Book of Psalms, 'Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell in it'; and, 'Let another take his office as a bishop.'

²⁸ Therefore take heed to yourselves, and to all the flock, among whom the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which He has purchased with His own blood.

¹³ For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify my office:

¹² for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

¹ Paul and Timothy, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:

¹⁴ Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

¹⁵ This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

¹¹ It is a faithful saying: For if we are dead with Him, we shall also live with Him:

⁷ For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, doesn't strike others, not given to filthy profit;

⁸ This is a faithful saying, and it is my will that you affirm these things constantly, that those who have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.

¹⁵ Looking diligently lest any man be destitute of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and by this many are defiled;

¹⁹ Brethren, if any of you errs from the truth, and someone converts him; ²⁰ let him know, that he who converts the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

²⁵ For you were as sheep going astray; but have now returned to the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

¹⁵ But let none of you suffer as a murderer, as a thief, as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people's matters.

² Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking on the oversight of it, not by compulsion, but willingly; not for filthy profit, but from a ready mind;

¹⁰ His watchmen are blind: They are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.

⁶ And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

¹³ distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

¹⁵ That you may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom you shine as lights in the world;

¹⁰ And let these also first be proved; then let them administer the office of a deacon, being found blameless. ¹¹ Even so their wives must be honest, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.

³ forbidding to marry; and commanding to abstain from meats, which God has created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

⁹ Do not let a widow be taken into the number under sixty years old, and if having been the wife of one man,

²⁴ And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle to all people, apt to teach, patient,

⁶ If any man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or being unruly. ⁷ For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, doesn't strike others, not given to filthy profit; ⁸ but a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; ⁹ holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the deniers.

² That the aged men be sober, honest, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience.

¹⁴ For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end;

² Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: For by doing that some have entertained angels without being aware.

⁷ But the end of all things is at hand: Therefore be sober, and watchful with prayer.

⁹ Use hospitality one to another without grudging.

⁸ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour:

⁹ do not drink wine nor strong drink, you, nor your sons with you, when you go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest you die: It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations:

¹⁵ Also before they burned the fat, the priest's servant came, and said to the man that sacrificed, "Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not have boiled flesh from you, but raw." ¹⁶ And if any man said to him, "Let them not fail to burn the fat at this time, and then take as much as your soul desires"; then he would answer him, "No; but you shall give it to me now: And if not, I will take it by force." ¹⁷ For this reason the sin of the young men was very great before the LORD: For men abhorred the offering of the LORD.

³ And his sons did not walk in his ways, but turned aside after dishonest gain, and took bribes, and perverted judgment.

²⁰ But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, "Behold, my master has spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: But, as the LORD lives, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him. ²¹ So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and said, "Is all well? ²² And he said, "All is well. My master has sent me, saying, "Behold, even now there be come to me from Mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: Give them, I implore you, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments. ²³ And Naaman said, "Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them on two of his servants; and they bore them before him. ²⁴ And when he came to the tower, he took them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house: And he let the men go, and they departed. ²⁵ But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said to him, "From where come you, Gehazi? And he said, "Your servant went no where. ²⁶ And he said to him, "Went not my heart with you, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet you? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and olive groves, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants? ²⁷ The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall stick to you, and to your seed forever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.

¹⁹ So are the ways of everyone that is greedy of gain; which takes away the life of its owners.

²⁷ He that is greedy of gain troubles his own house; but he that hates gifts shall live.

⁸ Better is the end of a thing than the beginning of it: And the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.

¹¹ Woe to those that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; who continue until night, till wine inflames them! ¹² And the harp, and the viol, the tambourine, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: But they do not regard the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of His hands.

¹ Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the rich valleys of those that are overcome with wine!

⁷ But they have also erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up by wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

¹¹ Yes, they are greedy dogs who can never have enough, and they are shepherds who cannot understand: They all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter. ¹² "Come all of you", they say, "I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow shall be like today, and much more abundant."

¹³ "For from the least of them even to the greatest of them everyone is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even to the priest everyone deals falsely.

¹⁰ Therefore I will give their wives to others, and their fields to those who shall inherit them: For everyone from the least even to the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even to the priest everyone deals falsely.

²¹ Neither shall any priest drink wine, when they enter into the inner court.

¹¹ If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood speaks lies, saying, 'I will prophesy to you from wine and from strong drink'; he shall even be the prophet of this people.

⁵ Thus says the LORD concerning the prophets that make My people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, "Peace"; and he that does not put into their mouths, they even prepare war against him.

¹¹ The heads of it judge for reward, and its priests teach for hire, and its prophets divine for money: Yet they will lean upon the LORD, and say, "Is not the LORD among us? No evil can come upon us."

¹⁰ "Who is there among you that would even shut the doors for free? Neither do you all kindle fire on My altar for free. I have no pleasure in you", says the LORD of hosts, "Neither will I accept an offering from your hand.

¹³ and said to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be called the house of prayer'; But you have made it a 'den of thieves.' "

⁴⁵ Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? ⁴⁶ Blessed is that servant, whom his lord shall find so doing when he comes. ⁴⁷ Truly I say to you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. ⁴⁸ But if that evil servant says in his heart, 'My lord delays his coming'; ⁴⁹ and begins to smite his fellow-servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; ⁵⁰ the lord of that servant shall come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour that he is not aware of, ⁵¹ and shall cut him apart, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

⁴² And the Lord said, "Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season? ⁴³ Blessed is that servant, whom his lord shall find so doing when he comes. ⁴⁴ Truly, I say to you, That he will make him ruler over all that he has. ⁴⁵ But then, if that servant says in his heart, 'My lord delays his coming'; and begins to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and be drunk; ⁴⁶ the lord of that servant shall come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

³⁴ Also take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with gluttony, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you when unaware. ³⁵ For it shall come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. ³⁶ Watch therefore, and pray always, that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."

¹² But he who is a hireling, and not the shepherd, of whom the sheep are not his own, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and flees: And the wolf catches them, and scatters the sheep. ¹³ The hireling flees, because he is a hireling, and does not care for the sheep.

⁵ "Why was this fragrant ointment not sold for three hundred silver coins, and given to the poor?" ⁶ This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the money bag, and carried what was put in it.

¹⁸ And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, ¹⁹ saying, "Give me this power also, that whoever I lay hands on, he may receive the Holy Spirit." ²⁰ But Peter said to him, "Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. ²¹ You have neither part nor portion in this matter: For your heart is not right in the sight of God.

³³ I have coveted no one's silver, or gold, or apparel.

¹⁸ For those that are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

¹⁸ And do not be drunk with wine, in which is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

⁸ Likewise deacons must be honest, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for filthy profit;

¹⁰ For the love of money is the root of all evil: Which while coveting after, some have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. ¹¹ But you, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

²⁴ And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle to all people, apt to teach, patient, ²⁵ in meekness instructing those that are in opposition; if God peradventure will give them repentance concerning the acknowledgment of the truth;

¹¹ Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not to, for the sake of filthy profit.

³ The aged women likewise, that they behave as becomes holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

² to speak evil of no man, not to be brawlers, but gentle, showing all meekness to all men.

⁵ Let your behavior be without covetousness; and be content with such things as you have: For He has said, "I will never leave you, nor forsake you."

¹ From what source do wars and fighting come from among you? Do they not come from this, even out of your lusts that war in your members?

³ And through covetousness they shall make merchandise of you with feigned words: Whose judgment will now not linger for a long time, and their damnation does not slumber.

¹⁴ having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: They have a heart exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: ¹⁵ Who have forsaken the right way, and have gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

¹¹ Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the contrariety of Korah.

⁹ I John, who am also your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island that is called Patmos, for the Word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

¹¹ And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buys their merchandise anymore: ¹² The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all fragrant wood, and all sorts of ivory vessels, and all sorts of most precious wood vessels, and of brass, and iron, and marble, ¹³ and cinnamon, and incense, and fragrant ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.

¹⁹ For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which He has spoken of him."

¹⁵ And if it seem evil to you to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell: But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

² I will behave wisely myself in a perfect way. O when will You come to me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. ³ I will set no wicked thing before my eyes: I have hated the work of those who turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. ⁴ A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person. ⁵ Whoever privately slanders his neighbor, him I will cut off: He who has a high look and a proud heart I will not suffer. ⁶ My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: He who walks in a perfect way, he shall serve me. ⁷ He who works deceit shall not dwell within my house: He who tells lies shall not tarry in my sight. ⁸ I will soon destroy all the wicked of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the LORD.

² a devout man, and one that feared God with all his household, who gave many charitable alms to the people, and prayed to God always.

⁸ Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

¹² Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

⁶ If any man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or being unruly.

⁷ In all things showing yourself an example of good works: In doctrine showing uncorruptness, honesty, sincerity,

²⁹ Why do you kick at My sacrifice and at My offering, which I have commanded in My habitation; and honor your sons above Me, to make yourselves fat with the most eminent of all the offerings of Israel My people?' ³⁰ For which reason the LORD God of Israel says, 'I said indeed that your house, and the house of your father, should walk before Me forever': But now the LORD says, 'Far be it from Me; for those that honor Me I will honor, and those that despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.

¹³ For I have told him that I will judge his house forever for the iniquity which he knows; because his sons made themselves vile, and he did not restrain them.

³² Give no offense, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:

²² And has put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the head over all things to the church,

²⁴ Therefore, as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

³² This is a great mystery: But I speak concerning Christ and the church.

¹⁵ But if I tarry long, I write that you may know how you yourselves ought to behave in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

¹⁴ then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

²⁰ That his heart be not lifted up above his brothers, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand side, or to the left: To the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.

¹⁰ You have indeed smitten Edom, and your heart has lifted you up: Glory of this, and tarry at home: For why should you meddle to your hurt, that you should fall, even you, and Judah with you?

¹⁶ But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: For he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense on the altar of incense.

²⁵ But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done to him; for his heart was lifted up: Therefore there was wrath on him, and on Judah and Jerusalem.

¹⁸ Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. ¹⁹ It is better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

¹² Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honor is humility.

²³ A man's pride shall bring him low: But honor shall uphold the humble in spirit.

¹² For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be on everyone that is proud and lofty, and on everyone that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:

¹² How you have fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations! ¹³ For you have said in your heart, "I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will also sit on the mount of the congregation, in uttermost sides of the north: ¹⁴ I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High."

¹⁸ And He said to them, "I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

¹ And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual, but as to carnal, even as to babes in Christ.

⁶ Now these things, brethren, I have transfigured onto myself and onto Apollos for your sakes; that you might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that none of you are puffed up on behalf of one, against another. ⁷ For who makes you to differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you received it, why do you boast, as if you had not received it? ⁸ Now you are full, now you are rich, you have reigned as kings without us: And I pray to God you did reign, that we also might reign with you.

¹ Now concerning things offered to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.

⁷ And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, the messenger of Satan to wound me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

⁴ he is proud, knowing nothing, but regards questions and strifes of words with excessive fondness, from which comes envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,

⁴ traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

¹² Even though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need that one teach you again what are the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have become such as have need of milk, and not of solid food. ¹³ For everyone that uses milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: For he is a babe.

² as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that you may grow thereby:

⁵ Likewise you younger ones, submit yourselves to the elder. Yes, all of you be subject to one another, and be clothed with humility: For "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

⁴ For if God did not spare the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment;

⁶ And the angels which did not keep their first estate, but left their own habitation, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day.

²⁴ No, my sons; for it is no good report that I hear: You make the LORD's people to transgress.

¹¹ And He said to them, "To you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: But to those that are outside, all these things are done in parables:

³ Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of honest repute, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

²² And they said, "Cornelius the centurion, a just man, one that fears God, and has a good reputation among all the nation of the Jews, was warned by a holy angel from God to send for you into his house, and to hear words from you."

¹² "Moreover one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report from all the Jews which dwelt there,

¹² For what have I to do with judging those that also are outside? Do you not judge those that are inside?

³ Giving no offense in anything, that the ministry is not blamed:

²¹ Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.

⁵ Walk in wisdom toward those that are outside, redeeming the time.

¹² that you may walk honestly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing.

²² Abstain from all appearance of evil.

¹⁴ Therefore it is my will that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give no occasion for the adversary to speak reproachfully.

²⁴ Some men's sins are clearly evident, going before them to judgment; and the evidence against some men follows afterwards. ²⁵ Likewise also, the good works of some are clearly manifest beforehand; and those that are otherwise cannot be hid.

⁹ But those that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

²⁶ and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

⁵ to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God is not blasphemed.

⁸ sound speech, that cannot be condemned; so that he who is of the contrary point of view may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

¹⁴ If you are reproached for the name of Christ, you are happier; for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you: On their part He is spoken evil of, but on your part He is glorified. ¹⁵ But let none of you suffer as a murderer, as a thief, as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people's matters. ¹⁶ Yet if any man suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this respect.

¹² Demetrius has a good report from all men, and from the truth itself: Yes, and we also bear witness; and you know that our witness is true.

⁹ For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is truly wickedness; their throat is an open sepulcher; they flatter with their tongue.

² They speak vanity, everyone with his neighbor: With flattering lips and with a double heart they speak.

¹⁹ You give your mouth to evil, and your tongue frames deceit.

² The tongue devises mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

³ Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of honest repute, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. ⁴ But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word." ⁵ And the saying pleased the whole multitude: And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte from Antioch: ⁶ Whom they set before the apostles: And when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

³ not given to wine, doesn't strike others, not greedy of filthy profit; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

²³ No longer drink water, but use a little wine for your stomach's sake and your frequent infirmities.

¹⁰ Out of the same mouth proceeds blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

⁵ Now the end purpose of the commandment is love out of a pure heart, and from a good conscience, and from sincere faith without hypocrisy:

¹⁹ holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away, concerning faith have made shipwreck:

¹⁶ And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen among angels, preached to the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

⁹ Whoever transgresses, and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ, does not have God. He that abides in the doctrine of Christ, he has both the Father and the Son. ¹⁰ If anyone comes to you, and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house, neither bid him God-speed:

¹ Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring by the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. ² Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples to them, and said, "It is not reasonable that we should leave the Word of God, and serve tables.

⁸ Who shall also confirm you until the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²² in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in His sight:

² A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

⁶ Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

¹³ For those that have administered the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

²² Do not suddenly lay hands on any man, neither be a partaker of other man's sins: Keep yourself pure.

⁶ If any man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or being unruly. ⁷ For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, doesn't strike others, not given to filthy profit;

¹ Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but prove the spirits by testing whether they are of God: Because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

⁷ They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: For he is holy to his God.

¹³ And he shall take a wife in her virginity. ¹⁴ A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or a harlot, these shall he not take: But he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife. ¹⁵ Neither shall he profane his seed among his people: For I the LORD do sanctify him.

³ He that does not backbite with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his neighbor.

²⁰ You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother's son.

⁵ Whoever privately slanders his neighbor, him I will cut off: He who has a high look and a proud heart I will not suffer.

¹⁸ He that hides hatred with lying lips, and he that utters a slander, is a fool.

¹³ As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to those that send him: For he refreshes the soul of his masters.

⁴ "Everyone take heed of his neighbor, and do not trust in any brother: Forevery brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will walk with slanders.

²² Neither shall they take a widow as their wife, nor her that is divorced: But they shall take maidens of the seed of the house of Israel, or a widow that had a priest before.

¹ Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

⁵ There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: And his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. ⁶ And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, "Have I not chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?"

⁶ Therefore let us not sleep, as others do; but let us watch and be sober. ⁷ For those who sleep, sleep in the night; and those who are drunk, are drunk in the night. ⁸ But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

¹² And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has enabled me, for He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;

² And those who have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. Teach and exhort these things.

³ without natural affection, truce-breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those who are good,

⁵ But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of your ministry.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceives the whole world: He was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. ¹⁰ Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come: For the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

⁴ one that rules his own house well, having his children in subjection with all gavity; ⁵ (For if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

²⁸ Even as the Son of Man did not come to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many."

²¹ His lord said to him, 'Well done, you good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: Enter into the joy of your lord.'

¹⁰ He who is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: And he who is unjust in the least is also unjust in much. ¹¹ Therefore, if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? ¹² And if you have not been faithful in what is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?

¹⁷ And he said to him, 'Well done, good servant: Because you have been faithful in a very little, you have authority over ten cities.'

⁵ And the saying pleased the whole multitude: And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte from Antioch:

⁸ And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

¹⁵ And all that sat in the council, looking steadfastly upon him, saw his face as if it had been the face of an angel.

¹⁵ So Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, he, and our fathers, ¹⁶ and they were carried over into Shechem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money from the sons of Emmor, the father of Shechem. ¹⁷ "But when the time of the promise drew near, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt, ¹⁸ until another king arose, who did not know Joseph. ¹⁹ This one dealt cunningly with our kindred, and evilly treated our fathers, so that they threw out their young children, with the intent they might not live. ²⁰ About which time Moses was born, and was exceedingly fair, and nourished in his father's house three months: ²¹ And when he was cast out, Pharaoh's daughter took him up, and nourished him as her own son. ²² And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds. ²³ "And when he was a full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren, the children of Israel. ²⁴ And seeing one of them suffer wrongfully, he defended him, and avenged him who was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian: ²⁵ For he supposed that his brethren would have understood that by his hand God would deliver them: But they did not understand. ²⁶ And the next day he showed himself to them as they fought, and would have reconciled them as one again, saying, 'Sirs, you are brethren; why do you wrong one another?' ²⁷ But he who did his neighbor wrong thust him away, saying, 'Who made you a ruler and a judge over us? ²⁸ Will you kill me as you did the Egyptian yesterday?' ²⁹ Then Moses fled at this saying, and was a stranger in the land of Midian, where he begot two sons. ³⁰ "And when forty years were expired, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai, in a flame of fire in a bush. ³¹ When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: And as he drew near to observe it, the voice of the Lord came to him, ³² saying, 'I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' Then Moses trembled, and dared not behold. ³³ 'Then the LORD said to him, "Take off your shoes from your feet: For the place where you stand is holy ground. ³⁴ I have seen, I have seen the affliction of My people which are in Egypt, I have heard their groaning, and have come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send you into Egypt." ' ³⁵ "This Moses whom they refused, saying, 'Who made you a ruler and a judge?' is the same that God sent to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush. ³⁶ He brought them out, after he had shown wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness forty years. ³⁷ "This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel, 'The LORD your God shall raise up to you a Prophet from your brethren, similar to me: Him you shall hear.' ³⁸ "This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spoke to him in Mount Sinai, and with our fathers: Who received the lively oracles to give to us: ³⁹ Whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust Him from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt, ⁴⁰ saying to Aaron, 'Make us gods to go before us: Because, as for this Moses who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.' ⁴¹ And they made a calf in those days, offered sacrifices to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands. ⁴² Then God turned, and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of the prophets, 'O house of Israel, have you offered to Me slain beasts and sacrifices for a period of forty years in the wilderness? ⁴³ Yes, you took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which you made to worship them: And I will carry you away beyond Babylon.' ⁴⁴ "Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as He had appointed, speaking to Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen. ⁴⁵ Which also our fathers that came afterwards, brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drove out before the face of our fathers, even until the days of David; ⁴⁶ who found favor before God, and desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob. ⁴⁷ But Solomon built Him a house. ⁴⁸ "Nevertheless, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands; as the prophet says, ⁴⁹ 'Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool: What house will you build Me? says the LORD: Or what is the place of My rest? ⁵⁰ Has My hand not made all these things?' ⁵¹ "You stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit: As your fathers did, so you do. ⁵² Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? And they have slain those which foretold of the coming of the Just One; of whom you now have been the betrayers and murderers: ⁵³ Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it."

³⁵ Now when he reached the stairs, it so happened that he had to be carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the people.

⁷ or ministry, let us attend to our ministering: Or he that teaches, in teaching; ⁸ or he that exhorts, in exhortation; he that gives, let him do it with simplicity; he that rules, with diligence; he that shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

¹⁵ I beseech you, brethren, (you know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)

¹⁴ and many of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

² But even after we had suffered beforehand, and were shamefully treated at Philippi, as you know, we were bold in our God to speak to you the gospel of God with much contention.

¹ You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

¹⁰ For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love, which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

¹⁰ As every man has received the gift, even so minister the same to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. ¹¹ If any man speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God gives: That in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be the praise and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

³⁴ And if any man hungers, let him eat at home; that you do not come together to condemnation. And the rest I will set in order when I come.

⁵ Now I will come to you, when I pass through Macedonia: For I do pass through Macedonia. ⁶ And it may be that I will abide, yes, and winter with you, that you may bring me on my journey wherever I go. ⁷ For I will not see you now by the way; but I trust to tarry a while with you, if the Lord permits.

¹⁵ And in this confidence I intended to come to you before, that you might have a second benefit; ¹⁶ and to pass by you into Macedonia, and to return again from Macedonia to you, and to be brought on my way toward Judea by you. ¹⁷ When I therefore was thus minded, did I employ lightness? Or the things I purposed, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be Yes yes, and No no?

¹⁸ Therefore we would have come to you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.

¹³ Until I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

²² But with the rest also prepare for me a place to lodge: For I trust that through your prayers I shall be given to you all.

²³ Know that our brother Timothy is set at liberty; with whom I will see you, if he comes shortly.

¹² Having many things to write to you, I will not write more with paper and ink: But I trust to come to you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

¹⁴ But I trust I shall see you shortly, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to you. Our friends salute you. Greet the friends by name.

²⁶ For who is there of all flesh, that has heard the voice of the living God speaking out of the middle of the fire, as we have, and lived?

²³ And he gave Joshua the son of Nun a charge, and said, "Be strong and of a good courage: For you shall bring the children of Israel into the land which I swore to them: And I will be with you.

¹⁰ And Joshua said, "Hereby you shall know that the living God is among you, and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites.

²⁶ And David spoke to the men that stood by him, saying, "What shall be done to the man that kills this Philistine, and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?"

³⁶ Your servant slew both the lion and the bear: And this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God."

² I go the way of all the earth: Be you strong therefore, and show yourself a man;

⁴ That the LORD may continue his word which he spoke concerning me, saying, "If your children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail you (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.

⁴ It may be the LORD your God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to reproach the living God; and will reprove the words which the LORD your God has heard: Why lift up your prayer for the remnant that are left.

¹³ Then you shall prosper, if you take heed to fulfill the statutes and judgments which the LORD charged Moses with concerning Israel: Be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed.

⁹ And you, Solomon my son, know you the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: For the LORD searches all hearts, and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts: If you seek him, he will be found of you; but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever. ¹⁰ Take heed now; for the LORD has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary: Be strong, and do it. ¹¹ Then David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the porch, and of its houses, and of its treasuries, and of the upper chambers of it, and of the inner parlors of it, and of the place of the mercy seat, ¹² and the pattern of all that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the house of the LORD, and of all the chambers all around, of the treasuries of the house of God, and of the treasuries of the dedicated things: ¹³ Also for the courses of the priests and the Levites, and for all the work of the service of the house of the LORD, and for all the vessels of service in the house of the LORD. ¹⁴ He gave of gold by weight for things of gold, for all instruments of all manner of service; silver also for all instruments of silver by weight, for all instruments of every kind of service: ¹⁵ Even the weight for the candlesticks of gold, and for their lamps of gold, by weight for every candlestick, and for its lamps: And for the candlesticks of silver by weight, both for the candlestick, and also for its lamps, according to the use of every candlestick. ¹⁶ And by weight he gave gold for the tables of show-bread, for every table; and likewise silver for the tables of silver: ¹⁷ Also pure gold for the flesh-hooks, and the bowls, and the cups: And for the golden basins he gave gold by weight for every basin; and likewise silver by weight for every basin of silver: ¹⁸ And for the altar of incense refined gold by weight; and gold for the pattern of the chariot of the cherubims, that spread out their wings, and covered the ark of the covenant of the LORD. ¹⁹ All this, said David, the LORD made me understand in writing by his hand upon me, even all the works of this pattern. ²⁰ And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: Fear not, nor be dismayed: For the LORD God, even my God, will be with you; he will not fail you, nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD. ²¹ And behold, the courses of the priests and the Levites, even they shall be with you for all the service of the house of God: And there shall be with you for all manner of workmanship every willing skillful man, for any manner of service: Also the princes and all the people will be wholly at your commandment.

² My soul thirsts for God, for the living God: When shall I come and appear before God?

² My soul longs, yes, even faints for the courts of the LORD: My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

¹⁸ For, behold, I have made you this day a defended city, and an iron pillar, and brazen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against its princes, against its priests, and against the people of the land.

¹⁰ But the LORD is the true God, He is the living God, and an everlasting King: At His wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide His indignation.

³⁶ And the burden of the LORD you shall mention no more: Forevery man's word shall be his burden; for you have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts, our God.

²⁶ I make a decree, that in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: For He is the living God, and stedfast forever, and His kingdom is that which shall not be destroyed, and His dominion shall even be to the end.

¹⁰ Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said to them, 'You are not My people', there it shall be said to them, 'You are the sons of the living God.'

¹⁶ And Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

¹⁸ And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this Rock you declared I will build My church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. ¹⁹ And I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: And whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: And whatever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

¹⁸ Truly I say to you, Whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: And whatever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

¹⁷ For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

⁶⁹ And we believe and are sure that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

⁶ Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: No man comes to the Father, except by Me.

³⁷ Pilate therefore said to Him, "Are You a king then?" Jesus answered, "You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born, and for this cause I came into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone that is of the truth hears My voice."

² until the day in which He was taken up, after that He gave commandments through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom He had chosen:

¹⁵ and saying, "Sirs, why do you do these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach to you that you should turn from these vanities to the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are in them:

² Much in every way: Principally, because to them were committed the oracles of God.

²⁶ "And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said to them, 'You are not My people'; There they shall be called children of the living God."

³ For as much as you are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tablets of stone, but in fleshy tablets of the heart.

⁷ by the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,

¹⁶ And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God; as God has said: "I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people."

⁹ And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given to me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship; that we should go to the heathen, and they to the circumcised.

¹ O foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ has been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

²¹ in whom all the building, being fitly framed together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord: ²² In whom you also are built together as a habitation of God through the Spirit.

²¹ if it is thus that you have heard Him, and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus:

⁵ for the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;

⁹ For they themselves bring word to us regarding what manner of entering in we had used among you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;

⁵ (For if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

¹⁰ For therefore we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those that believe.

¹⁶ who only has immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach; whom no man has seen, nor can see: To whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen.

²⁰ But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor.

² Who was faithful to Him that appointed Him, as also Moses was faithful in all His house. ³ For this Man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who built the house has more honor than the house. ⁴ For every house is built by some man; but He that built all things is God. ⁵ And Moses truly was faithful in all His house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken afterwards; ⁶ but Christ as a Son over His own house; whose house we are, if we hold firm the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope steadfast to the end.

¹² Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

¹⁴ How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

²² But you have come to Mount Zion, and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

⁵ you also, as lively stones, are built up as a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

² And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: And he cried out with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,

¹⁷ The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: The Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place. ¹⁸ You have ascended on high, You have led captivity captive: You have received gifts for men; yes, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.

¹⁴ Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.

⁶ For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given: And the government shall be upon His shoulder: And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

⁵ The Lord GOD has opened My ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back. ⁶ I gave My back to the smiters, and My cheeks to those who plucked off the hair: I did not hide My face from shame and spitting. ⁷ For the Lord GOD will help Me; therefore I shall not be confounded: Therefore I have set My face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.

⁵ "Behold, the days come", said the LORD, "that I will raise to David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. ⁶ In His days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: And this is His name by which he shall be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

² "But you, Bethlehem Ephratah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you He shall come forth to Me that is to be Ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting."

²³ "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel", which being interpreted is, "God with us."

¹⁶ And when Jesus was baptized, He immediately went up out of the water: And lo, the heavens were opened to Him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon Him:

¹¹ Then the devil left Him; and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.

¹¹ He answered and said to them, "Because it is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

² And behold, there was a large earthquake; for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

¹³ And He was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered to Him.

⁵ And entering into the sepulcher, they saw a young man clothed in a long white robe sitting on the right side; and they were frightened.

¹⁹ So then after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

¹⁰ Then the angel said to them, "Do not fear: For behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. ¹¹ For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. ¹² And this shall be a sign to you; you shall find the Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger." ¹³ Then suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, ¹⁴ "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

³² a light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel."

⁴³ Moreover an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.

⁴ And it came to pass, as they were greatly perplexed concerning that, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:

⁵¹ And it came to pass, while He blessed them, He was separated from them, and carried up into heaven.

¹ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ² The same was in the beginning with God.

¹⁴ And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth.

³² And John bore record, saying, "I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon Him. ³³ And I did not know Him: But He that sent me to baptize with water, the same said to me, 'Upon whom you shall see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, the same is He which baptizes with the Holy Spirit.'

⁶² Then what if you shall see the Son of Man ascend up where He was before?

³ Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God, and went to God;

²⁶ But when the Comforter has come, whom I will send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceeds from the Father, He shall testify of Me:

⁸ And when He has come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: ⁹ Of sin, because they do not believe upon Me;

²⁸ I came forth from the Father, and have come into the world: Again, I leave the world, and go to the Father."

⁵ And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Your own self with the glory which I had with You before the world was.

¹² And she saw two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had laid.

¹ The former treatise I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, ² until the day in which He was taken up, after that He gave commandments through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom He had chosen: ³ To whom He also showed Himself alive after His passion by many infallible proofs, being seen by them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God: ⁴ And being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but "wait for the Promise of the Father, which", He said, "you have heard from Me. ⁵ For John truly baptized with water; but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now." ⁶ When they therefore had come together, they asked Him, saying, "Lord, will You at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?" ⁷ And He said to them, "It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father has put under His own power. ⁸ But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Spirit will come upon you: And you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth." ⁹ And when He had spoken these things, while they beheld, He was taken up; and a cloud received Him out of their sight. ¹⁰ And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; ¹¹ which also said, "You men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you have seen Him go into heaven."

¹⁹ And it was known to all the dwellers at Jerusalem; therefore that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, 'The field of blood'.

³² This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. ³³ Therefore being exalted by the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has shed forth this, which you now see and hear. ³⁴ "For David is not ascended into the heavens: But he himself said, 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, ³⁵ until I make Your enemies Your footstool." ' ³⁶ "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this same Jesus, whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ."

³⁴ Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, "Truly I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, "It was necessary that the Word of God should first have been spoken to you: But seeing you put it away from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles. ⁴⁷ For so has the Lord commanded us, saying, 'I have set you to be a light to the Gentiles, that you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.' " ⁴⁸ Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: And as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

²⁷ Moreover when they had come, and had gathered the church together, they reported all that God had done with them, and how He had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.

³ concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; ⁴ and declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

³ For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

⁵ whose are the fathers, and from whom as far as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen.

¹² For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: For the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.

¹⁸ But I say, have they not heard? Yes truly, "Their sound went into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world."

²⁵ Now to Him that is powerful to establish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,

⁷ But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world to our glory:

⁴⁷ The first man is of the earth, earthy: The second Man is the Lord from heaven.

⁸ (for He that worked effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcised, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles):

⁴ But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

⁹ having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He has purposed in Himself:

³ How that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I previously wrote with few words, ⁴ by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ); ⁵ which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it is now revealed to His holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; ⁶ that the Gentiles should be fellow-heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ by the gospel: ⁷ Of which I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effectual working of His power. ⁸ To me, who am less than the least of all saints, this grace is given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; ⁹ and to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world has been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: ¹⁰ To the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be known through the church to the principalities and powers in heavenly places,

⁸ Therefore He says: "When He ascended up on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men." ⁹ (Now that "He ascended", what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He that descended is also the same that ascended up far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)

¹⁹ and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

⁶ Who, being in the form of God, did not count it robbery to be equal with God: ⁷ But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: ⁸ And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient to death, even the death of the cross.

⁶ which has come to you, as it is in all the world; and brings forth fruit, as it does also in you, since the day you first heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:

¹⁶ For all things were created by Him that are in heaven, and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether they are thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: All things were created by Him, and for Him: ¹⁷ And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist. ¹⁸ And He is the head of the body, the church: Who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things He might have the preeminence.

²³ If you continue in the faith grounded and settled, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which you have heard, and which was preached to every creature that is under heaven; of which I, Paul, am made a minister;

²⁷ To whom God would make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

² that their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and among all riches from the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgment of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

¹⁰ when He shall come to be glorified in His saints, and to be admired in all those that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

⁷ For the mystery of iniquity is already at work: Only He who now holds back will impede, until He be taken out of the way.

⁹ holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.

³ Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high;

⁹ But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that He by the grace of God might taste death for every man. ¹⁰ For it suited Him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. ¹¹ For both He that sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all of one: For which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, ¹² saying, "I will declare Your name to My brethren, in the midst of the church I will sing praise to You." ¹³ And again, "I will put My trust in Him." And again, "Behold I and the children which God has given Me."

⁷ And without any contradiction the lesser is blessed by the better.

¹ Now this sums up the things which we have spoken: We have such a High Priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;

² looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

¹² To whom it was revealed that, not for themselves, but to us they ministered these things, which are now reported to you by those that have preached the gospel to you with the Holy Spirit sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

²⁰ Who truly was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

¹⁸ For Christ also has suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive by the Spirit:

²² Who has gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject to Him.

² (for the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show to you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested to us);

⁵ And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins; and in Him is no sin.

⁶ This is He that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. ⁷ For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit: And these three are one. ⁸ And there are three that bear witness on earth, the Spirit, the water, and the blood: And these three agree in one.

¹⁷ And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. Then He laid His right hand upon me, saying to me, "Do not fear; I am the First and the Last: ¹⁸ I am He that lives, and was dead; and behold, I am alive forevermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

⁹ After this I beheld, and lo, a large multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

⁵ And upon her forehead a name was written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

⁷ And the angel said to me, "Why did you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and ten horns.
