¹ In those days was Hezekiah sick to death. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered. ⁸ And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, "What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the LORD the third day? ⁹ And Isaiah said, "This sign shall you have of the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he has spoken: Shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees? ¹⁰ And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: No, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees. ¹¹ And Isaiah the prophet cried out to the LORD: And he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz. ¹² At that time Berodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: For he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick. ¹³ And Hezekiah listened to them, and showed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures: There was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not. ¹⁴ Then came Isaiah the prophet to king Hezekiah, and said to him, "What said these men? And from where came they to you? And Hezekiah said, "They are come from a far country, even from Babylon. ¹⁵ And he said, "What have they seen in your house? And Hezekiah answered, All the things that are in my house have they seen: There is nothing among my treasures that I have not showed them. ¹⁶ And Isaiah said to Hezekiah, "Hear the word of the LORD. ¹⁷ Behold, the days come, that all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have laid up in store to this day, shall be carried into Babylon: Nothing shall be left", says the LORD. ¹⁸ And of your sons that shall issue from you, which you shall beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon. ¹⁹ Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which you have spoken. And he said, "Is it not good, if peace and truth be in my days? ²⁰ And the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made a pool, and a conduit, and brought water into the city, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? ²¹ And Hezekiah slept with his fathers: And Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.

²³ And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his donkey, and arose, and got him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the sepulcher of his father.

² And he sent Eliakim, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.

²⁰ Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, "Thus says the LORD God of Israel, That which you have prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria I have heard.

²⁴ In those days Hezekiah was sick to the death, and prayed to the LORD: And he spoke to him, and he gave him a sign. ²⁵ But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done to him; for his heart was lifted up: Therefore there was wrath on him, and on Judah and Jerusalem. ²⁶ Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD came not on them in the days of Hezekiah.

' ⁷ And this shall be a sign to you from the LORD, that the LORD will do this thing that He has spoken; ⁸ behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward." So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it had gone down. ⁹ The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and was recovered from his sickness: ¹⁰ I said in the cutting off of my days, "I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years." ¹¹ I said, "I shall not see the LORD, even the LORD, in the land of the living: I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world. ¹² My age is departed, and is removed from me as a shepherd's tent: I have cut off my life like a weaver: He will cut me off with pining sickness: From day even to night You will make an end of me. ¹³ I reckoned till morning, that, as a lion, so He will break all my bones: From day even to night You will make an end of me. ¹⁴ Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter: I mourned as a dove: My eyes fail from looking upward: O LORD, I am oppressed; undertake for me. ¹⁵ What shall I say? He has both spoken to me, and Himself has done it: I shall go softly all my years in the bitterness of my soul. ¹⁶ O LORD, by these things men live, and in all these things is the life of my spirit: So will you recover me, and make me to live. ¹⁷ Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: But in love to my soul You have delivered it from the pit of corruption: For You have cast all my sins behind Your back. ¹⁸ For the grave cannot praise You, death cannot celebrate You: Those that go down into the pit cannot hope for Your truth. ¹⁹ The living, the living, he shall praise you, as I do this day: The father shall make known Your truth to the children. ²⁰ The LORD was ready to save me: Therefore we will sing my songs with the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of the LORD. ²¹ For Isaiah had said, "Let them take a lump of figs, and lay it for a plaster on the boil, and he shall recover." ²² Hezekiah also had said, "What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of the LORD?"

⁷ At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it; ⁸ if that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do to them. ⁹ And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it; ¹⁰ if it does evil in My sight, that it does not obey My voice, then I will repent of the good, with which I said I would benefit them.

⁴ And Jonah began to enter into the city one day's journey, and he cried out, and said, "Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown." ⁵ So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. ⁶ For word came to the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he set apart his robe from him, and covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. ⁷ And he caused it to be proclaimed and published throughout Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, "Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything: Let them not feed, nor drink water: ⁸ But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God: Yes, let everyone turn from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. ⁹ Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from His fierce anger, that we do not perish?" ¹⁰ And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that He had said that He would do to them; and He did not do it.

¹ Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. ² (It was that Mary who anointed the Lord with fragrant ointment, and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.) ³ Therefore his sisters sent to Him, saying, "Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick." ⁴ When Jesus heard that, He said, "This sickness is not to death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified by it." ⁵ Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.

²⁷ For indeed he was sick nearly to death: But God had mercy on him; and not only on him, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.

³⁰ Because for the work of Christ he came near to death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.

³⁰ And listen you to the supplication of your servant, and of your people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: And hear you in heaven your dwelling place: And when you hear, forgive.

¹⁵ And call upon Me in the day of trouble: I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me."

² Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the LORD, ³ and said, "Remember now, O LORD, I beseech You, how I have walked before You in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in your sight." And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

⁶ But you, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father which is in secret: And your Father which sees in secret shall reward you openly.

⁶¹ Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.

⁴ For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: And his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.

¹⁴ But the high places were not removed: Nevertheless Asa's heart was perfect with the LORD all his days.

³ And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did. ⁴ He removed the high places, and broke the images, and cut down the groves, and broke in pieces the brazen serpent that Moses had made: For to those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: And he called it Nehushtan. ⁵ He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him. ⁶ For he held to the LORD, and departed not from following him, but kept His commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.

⁹ For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein you have done foolishly: Therefore from now on you shall have wars.

²⁰ And thus did Hezekiah throughout all Judah, and worked that which was good and right and truth before the LORD his God. ²¹ And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.

¹⁹ Think on me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people.

¹⁴ Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and wipe not out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and for its offices.

²² And I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the Sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this also, and spare me according to the greatness of your mercy.

³¹ and for the wood offering, at times appointed, and for the firstfruits. Remember me, O my God, for good.

¹ There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.

⁸ And the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that fears God, and eschews evil?

⁶ I am weary with my groaning; all the night I make my bed swim; I water my couch with my tears.

⁷ Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: According to your mercy remember me for Your goodness' sake, O LORD.

² Blessed is the man to whom the LORD does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

⁴⁷ Remember how short my time is: Why have You made all men in vain?

⁵⁰ Remember, Lord, the reproach of Your servants; how I bear in my bosom the reproach of all the mighty people;

⁹ For I have eaten ashes like bread, and have mingled my drink with weeping

⁴⁹ ZAIN: Remember the word to Your servant, upon which You have caused me to hope.

¹⁸ The LORD is near to all those that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth.

⁶ And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and said of him, "Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!"

¹² For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly toward you.

⁷ Who in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears to Him that was able to save Him from death, and was heard because He feared;

²¹ Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, then we have confidence toward God. ²² And whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.

²⁶ and said, "If you will diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD your God, and will do that which is right in His sight, and will give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon you, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: For I am the LORD that heals you."

³⁹ See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: Neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.

¹⁴ And he said, "No; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said to him, "What said my Lord to his servant? ¹⁵ And the captain of the LORD's host said to Joshua, "Loose your shoe from off your foot; for the place on which you stand is holy. And Joshua did so.

¹⁶ "Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man out of the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him to be captain over My people Israel, that he may save My people out of the hand of the Philistines: For I have looked upon My people, because their cry has come to Me."

³ For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: And in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images.

¹⁹ He is chastened also with pain on his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain: ²⁰ So that his life abhors bread, and his soul dainty meat. ²¹ His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out. ²² Yes, his soul draws near to the grave, and his life to the destroyers. ²³ If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to show to man his uprightness: ²⁴ Then he is gracious to him, and said, "Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom. ²⁵ His flesh shall be fresher than a child's: He shall return to the days of his youth: ²⁶ He shall pray to God, and he will be favorable to him: And he shall see his face with joy: For he will render to man his righteousness.

¹² Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear to my cry; do not hold Your peace at my tears: For I am a stranger with You, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.

⁸ You number my wanderings: You put my tears into Your bottle: Are they not in your book?

² O You that hear prayer, to You shall all flesh come.

¹³ I will go into Your house with burnt offerings: I will pay You my vows, ¹⁴ which my lips have uttered, and my mouth has spoken, when I was in trouble. ¹⁵ I will offer to You burnt sacrifices of fatted calves, with the incense of rams; I will offer bulls with goats. Selah.

¹⁹ But truly God has heard me; He has attended to the voice of my prayer. ²⁰ Blessed be God, which has not turned away my prayer, nor His mercy from me.

¹² What shall I render to the LORD for all His benefitss toward me? ¹³ I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD. ¹⁴ I will pay my vows to the LORD now in the presence of all His people.

¹⁷ I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD. ¹⁸ The LORD has severely chastened me: But He has not given me over to death. ¹⁹ Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD:

⁵ Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.

³ He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.

⁵ "Go, and say to Hezekiah, 'Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father, "I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears: Behold, I will add to your days fifteen years.

²² Hezekiah also had said, "What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of the LORD?"

³ Incline your ear, and come to Me: Hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

³² 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living."

¹³ But the angel said to him, "Do not fear, Zacharias: For your prayer is heard; and your wife Elisabeth shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.

¹⁴ Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, "Behold, you are made whole: Sin no more, lest a worse thing come to you."

¹⁰ For it suited Him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

¹⁴ Is anyone sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: ¹⁵ And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

¹⁷ For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them to living fountains of waters: And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes."

³⁴ For I will defend this city, to save it, for my own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

²² Thus the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all other, and guided them on every side.

¹⁵ Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints.

²⁴ Therefore thus says the Lord GOD of hosts, "O My people that dwell in Zion, do not be afraid of the Assyrian: He shall smite you with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against you, after the manner of Egypt.

²⁴ saying, 'Fear not, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar: And look, God has given you all those who sail with you.'

²⁰ And he said, "Bring me a new jar, and put salt in it. And they brought it to him. ²¹ And he went forth to the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, "Thus says the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from there any more death or barren land. ²² So the waters were healed to this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spoke.

⁴¹ But he said, "Then bring meal. And he cast it into the pot; and he said, "Pour out for the people, that they may eat. And there was no harm in the pot.

²¹ For Isaiah had said, "Let them take a lump of figs, and lay it for a plaster on the boil, and he shall recover."

¹⁷ And he said to him, "If now I have found grace in your sight, then show me a sign that you talk with me.

³⁷ behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry on all the earth beside, then shall I know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you have said. ³⁸ And it was so: For he rose up early on the next day, and thrust the fleece together, and wringed the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water. ³⁹ And Gideon said to God, "Let not your anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: Let me prove, I implore you, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only on the fleece, and on all the ground let there be dew. ⁴⁰ And God did so that night: For it was dry on the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground.

²⁹ And this shall be a sign to you, You shall eat this year such things as grow of themselves, and in the second year that which springs of the same; and in the third year sow you, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat its fruits.

² After two days He will revive us: On the third day He will raise us up, and we shall live in His sight.

¹¹ And the Pharisees came forth, and began questioning with Him, seeking a sign from heaven of Him, tempting Him. ¹² Then He sighed deeply in His spirit, and said, "Why does this generation seek after a sign? Truly I say to you, There shall be no sign given to this generation."

²⁹ And when the people were gathered thickly together, He began to say, "This is an evil generation: They seek a sign; and no sign shall be given it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet. ³⁰ For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also shall the Son of Man be to this generation.

¹⁰ And he said, "You have asked a hard thing: Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so to you; but if not, it shall not be so.

¹⁸ And this is but a light thing in the sight of the LORD: He will deliver the Moabites also into your hand.

⁶ And He said, 'It is a light thing that You should be My servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give You for a light to the Gentiles, that You may be My salvation to the end of the earth.' "

²⁸ And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, "Why couldn't we cast it out?" ²⁹ And He said to them, "This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting."

¹² Truly, truly, I say to you, He that believes in Me, the works that I do he shall do also; and greater works than these he shall do; because I go to My Father.

¹⁵ And the LORD said to Moses, "Why do you cry out to Me? Speak to the children of Israel, that they go forward:

¹² Then spoke Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand you still on Gibeon; and you, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. ¹³ And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves on their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the middle of heaven, and hurried not to go down about a whole day. ¹⁴ And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened to the voice of a man: For the LORD fought for Israel.

²⁰ And he cried out to the LORD, and said, "O LORD my God, have you also brought evil on the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son? ²¹ And he stretched himself on the child three times, and cried out to the LORD, and said, "O LORD my God, I implore you, let this child's soul come into him again.

³⁶ And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, "LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word. ³⁷ Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that you are the LORD God, and that you have turned their heart back again. ³⁸ Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

²⁴ In those days Hezekiah was sick to the death, and prayed to the LORD: And he spoke to him, and he gave him a sign.

³¹ However, in the business of the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent to him to inquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart.

⁸ behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward." So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it had gone down.

⁴⁰ But Peter put them all out, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning himself toward the body said, "Tabitha, arise." And she opened her eyes: And when she saw Peter, she sat up.

¹⁰ And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

⁹ Therefore the name of it is called Babel; because the LORD confounded the language of all the earth there: And from that place the LORD scattered them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

¹⁰ then Toi sent Joram his son to king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: For Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:

² Then said David, I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father showed kindness to me. And David sent to comfort him by the hand of his servants for his father. And David's servants came into the land of the children of Ammon.

¹ The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw.

¹⁹ And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldeans' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

⁴ that you shall take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, "How the oppressor has ceased! The golden city ceased!"

¹ At that time Merodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: For he had heard that he had been sick, and was recovered. ² And Hezekiah was glad with them, and showed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures: There was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah did not show them. ³ Then Isaiah the prophet came to king Hezekiah, and said to him, "What did these men say? And from where did they come to you?" And Hezekiah said, "They have come from a far country to me, even from Babylon." ⁴ Then he said, "What have they seen in your house?" And Hezekiah answered, "All that is in my house they have seen: There is nothing among my treasures that I have not showed them." ⁵ Then I saidsaiah to Hezekiah, "Hear the word of the LORD of hosts: ⁶ 'Behold, the days come, that all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: Nothing shall be left', said the LORD. ⁷ And of your sons that shall issue from you, which you shall beget, they shall take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon." ⁸ Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, "Good is the word of the LORD which you have spoken." He said moreover, "For there shall be peace and truth in my days."

² And she came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bore spices, and very much gold, and precious stones: And when she had come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.

¹⁰ And she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices very great store, and precious stones: There came no more such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon.

¹⁵ beside that he had of the merchants, and of the traffic of the spice merchants, and of all the kings of Arabia, and of the governors of the country.

²⁵ And they brought every man his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and garments, and armor, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.

²⁵ But Hezekiah rendered not again according to the benefit done to him; for his heart was lifted up: Therefore there was wrath on him, and on Judah and Jerusalem. ²⁶ Notwithstanding Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD came not on them in the days of Hezekiah. ²⁷ And Hezekiah had exceedingly much riches and honor: And he made himself treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all manner of pleasant jewels;

⁵ Will you set your eyes upon that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.

²⁰ For there is not a just man on earth, that does good, and does not sin.

⁴⁹ The LORD shall bring a nation against you from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flies; a nation whose tongue you shall not understand;

⁶ And they went to Joshua to the camp at Gilgal, and said to him, "and to the men of Israel, We be come from a far country: Now therefore make you a league with us.

⁹ And they said to him, "From a very far country your servants are come because of the name of the LORD your God: For we have heard the fame of him, and all that he did in Egypt,

⁷ And Nathan said to David, "You are the man. Thus says the LORD God of Israel, I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul; ⁸ and I gave you your master's house, and your master's wives into your bosom, and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given to you such and such things. ⁹ Why have you despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? You have killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and have taken his wife to be your wife, and have slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon. ¹⁰ Now therefore the sword shall never depart from your house; because you have despised me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife. ¹¹ Thus says the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house, and I will take your wives before your eyes, and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun. ¹² For you did it secretly: But I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun. ¹³ And David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said to David, "The LORD also has put away your sin; you shall not die. ¹⁴ However, because by this deed you have given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born to you shall surely die." ¹⁵ And Nathan departed to his house. And the LORD smote the child that Uriah's wife bore to David, and it was very sick.

²⁵ But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said to him, "From where come you, Gehazi? And he said, "Your servant went no where. ²⁶ And he said to him, "Went not my heart with you, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet you? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and olive groves, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?

⁷ And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said to him, "Because you have relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the LORD your God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of your hand. ⁸ Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubims a huge host, with very many chariots and horsemen? Yet, because you did rely on the LORD, he delivered them into your hand. ⁹ For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein you have done foolishly: Therefore from now on you shall have wars. ¹⁰ Then Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in a prison house; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. And Asa oppressed some of the people the same time.

⁷ But there came a man of God to him, saying, "O king, let not the army of Israel go with you; for the LORD is not with Israel, to wit, with all the children of Ephraim. ⁸ But if you will go, do it; be strong for the battle: God shall make you fall before the enemy: For God has power to help, and to cast down. ⁹ And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give you much more than this.

¹⁵ Why the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent to him a prophet, which said to him, "Why have you sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of your hand? ¹⁶ And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said to him, "Are you made of the king's counsel? Forbear; why should you be smitten? Then the prophet declined, and said, "I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this, and have not listened to my counsel.

⁵ Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: And let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: Notwithstanding, my prayer shall also be made throughout their calamities.

¹² As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.

⁵ They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of His indignation, to destroy the whole land.

¹⁸ "Micah the Morasthite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts; "Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of a forest." ' ¹⁹ Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him to death? Did he not fear the LORD, and sought the LORD, and the LORD relented of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great evil against our souls."

¹² Also Amaziah said to Amos, "O you seer, go, flee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there: ¹³ But do not prophesy again any more at Bethel: For it is the king's chapel, and it is the king's court."chapel; or, sanctuaryking's court: In Hebrew, house of the kingdom

¹⁸ For John had said to Herod, "It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife." ¹⁹ Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:

¹⁹ And Joshua said to Achan, "My son, give, I implore you, glory to the LORD God of Israel, and make confession to him; and tell me now what you have done; hide it not from me.

¹³ And Hezekiah listened to them, and showed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures: There was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not.

³³ If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding my iniquity in my bosom:

¹³ He that covers his sins shall not prosper: But whoever confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy.

⁸ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. ⁹ If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ¹⁰ If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

¹⁹ And he said, "Hear you therefore the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left.

¹ Then Elisha said, "Hear you the word of the LORD; Thus says the LORD, Tomorrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.

¹⁰ Hear the word of the LORD, you rulers of Sodom; give ear to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah.

¹⁶ Now therefore hear the word of the LORD: You say, 'Do not prophesy against Israel, and do not drop your word against the house of Isaac.'

¹⁹ And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass:

¹³ And he carried out there all the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the LORD, as the LORD had said.

¹³ And the pillars of brass that were in the house of the LORD, and the bases, and the brazen sea that was in the house of the LORD, did the Chaldeans break in pieces, and carried the brass of them to Babylon. ¹⁴ And the pots, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass with which they ministered, took they away. ¹⁵ And the fire-pans, and the bowls, and such things as were of gold, in gold, and of silver, in silver, the captain of the guard took away.

¹⁰ And when the year was expired, king Nebuchadnezzar sent, and brought him to Babylon, with the goodly vessels of the house of the LORD, and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.

¹⁸ And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon.

²¹ yes, thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that remain in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah and of Jerusalem; ²² 'They shall be carried to Babylon, and they shall be there until the day that I visit them", says the LORD; 'then I will bring them up, and restore them to this place.' "

¹⁷ Also the pillars of brass that were in the house of the LORD, and the bases, and the brazen sea that was in the house of the LORD, the Chaldeans broke, and carried all the brass of them to Babylon. ¹⁸ The caldrons also, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the bowls, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass with which they ministered, they took away. ¹⁹ And the basins, and the fire-pans, and the bowls, and the caldrons, and the candlesticks, and the spoons, and the cups; that which was of gold in gold, and that which was of silver in silver, the captain of the guard took away.

¹² And Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his officers: And the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign.

⁶ So they took the king, and brought him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they gave judgment on him.

¹¹ Why the LORD brought on them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon.

³ And the king spoke to Ashpenaz, the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain ones of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes;

³ Then Moses said to Aaron, "This is it that the LORD spoke, saying, "I will be sanctified in them that come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.

¹⁸ And Samuel told him every word, and hid nothing from him. And he said, "It is the LORD: Let Him do what seems good to Him."

³⁰ And he sent the letters to all the Jews, to the hundred and twenty-seven provinces of the kingdom of Ahasuerus, with words of peace and truth,

²¹ and said, "Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

⁹ I was dumb, I did not open my mouth; because you did it.

⁶ Behold, I will bring it health and healing, and I will cure them, and will reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.

²² It is by the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions never fail.

³⁹ Why does a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?

¹⁹ "Thus says the LORD of hosts; 'The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be joy and gladness to the house of Judah, and cheerful feasts; therefore love the truth and peace.'

¹⁰ Then the angel said to them, "Do not fear: For behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

¹⁴ "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

¹⁹ And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

⁷ Now the rest of the acts of Abijam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.

²³ The rest of all the acts of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? Nevertheless in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.

²³ And the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

⁶ And the rest of the acts of Azariah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

²⁶ And the rest of the acts of Pekahiah, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

¹⁹ Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

⁴ So there was gathered much people together, who stopped all the fountains, and the brook that ran through the middle of the land, saying, "Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?

³⁰ This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper watercourse of Gihon, and brought it straight down to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all his works.

³² Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and his goodness, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, and in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

¹⁶ After him repaired Nehemiah the son of Azbuk, the ruler of the half part of Bethzur, to the place in front of the sepulchers of David, and to the pool that was made, and to the house of the mighty.

⁹ You have also seen the breaches of the city of David, that they are many: And you gathered together the waters of the lower pool. ¹⁰ And you have numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and you have broken down the houses to fortify the wall. ¹¹ You also made a ditch between the two walls for the water of the old pool: But you have not looked to its Maker, neither had respect to Him who fashioned it long ago.

¹⁰ So David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.

⁴³ And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: And Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.

³¹ And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess. And Abijam his son reigned in his stead.

¹ Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hephzibah.

¹⁸ And Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza: And Amon his son reigned in his stead.

²³ So Uzziah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of the burial which belonged to the kings; for they said, "He is a leper: And Jotham his son reigned in his stead.

³³ And Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the most chief of the sepulchers of the sons of David: And all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem did him honor at his death. And Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.
