²⁰ And Noah built an altar to the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

⁴ And Abel, he also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of its fat. And the LORD had respect to Abel and to his offering:

² You shall take with you every clean beast by sevens, the male and his female: And of beasts that are not clean by two's, the male and his female.

⁷ And the LORD appeared to Abram, and said, "I will give this land to your seed": And he built an altar to the LORD there, Who appeared to him. ⁸ And he removed himself from that place to a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: And he built an altar to the LORD there, and called upon the name of the LORD.

⁴ to the place of the altar, which he had made there during his first stay: And there Abram called on the name of the LORD.

¹⁸ Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelled in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built an altar to the LORD there.

²⁴ You shall make to Me an altar of earth, and shall sacrifice your burnt offerings on it, and your peace offerings, your sheep, and your oxen: In all places where I record My name I will come to you, and I will bless you. ²⁵ And if you will make Me an altar of stone, you shall not build it of hewn stone: For if you lift up your tool upon it, you have polluted it.

⁴ And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and built an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel. ⁵ And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to the LORD. ⁶ And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basins; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. ⁷ And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: And they said, "All that the LORD has said will we do, and be obedient." ⁸ And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, "Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD has made with you concerning all these words."

¹ And the LORD called to Moses, and spoke to him out of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying, ² speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, If any man of you bring an offering to the LORD, you shall bring your offering of the domestic beasts, even of the herd, and of the flock. ³ If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: He shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD. ⁴ And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him. ⁵ And he shall kill the bull before the LORD: And the priests, Aaron's sons, shall bring the blood, and sprinkle the blood all around upon the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. ⁶ And he shall flay the burnt offering, and cut it into his pieces. ⁷ And the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire on the altar, and lay the wood in order on the fire: ⁸ And the priests, Aaron's sons, shall lay the parts, the head, and the fat, in order on the wood that is on the fire which is on the altar: ⁹ But his inwards and his legs shall he wash in water: And the priest shall burn all on the altar, to be a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet smell to the LORD. ¹⁰ And if his offering be of the flocks, namely, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt sacrifice; he shall bring it a male without blemish. ¹¹ And he shall kill it on the side of the altar northward before the LORD: And the priests, Aaron's sons, shall sprinkle his blood all around upon the altar. ¹² And he shall cut it into his pieces, with his head and his fat: And the priest shall lay them in order on the wood that is on the fire which is on the altar: ¹³ But he shall wash the inwards and the legs with water: And the priest shall bring it all, and burn it on the altar: It is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet smell to the LORD. ¹⁴ And if the burnt sacrifice for his offering to the LORD be of fowls, then he shall bring his offering of turtledoves, or of young pigeons. ¹⁵ And the priest shall bring it to the altar, and wring off his head, and burn it on the altar; and its blood shall be wrung out at the side of the altar: ¹⁶ And he shall pluck away his crop with his feathers, and cast it beside the altar on the east part, by the place of the ashes: ¹⁷ And he shall split it with its wings, but shall not divide it asunder: And the priest shall burn it on the altar, on the wood that is on the fire: It is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet smell to the LORD.

¹ And the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying to them, ² speak to the children of Israel, saying, "These are the beasts which you shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth. ³ Whatever parts the hoof, and is cloven footed, and chews the cud, among the beasts, that shall you eat. ⁴ Nevertheless these you shall not eat of those that chew the cud, or of those that divide the hoof: As the camel, because he chews the cud, but divides not the hoof; he is unclean to you. ⁵ And the coney, because he chews the cud, but divides not the hoof; he is unclean to you. ⁶ And the hare, because he chews the cud, but divides not the hoof; he is unclean to you. ⁷ And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he chews not the cud; he is unclean to you. ⁸ Of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcass you shall not touch; they are unclean to you. ⁹ These shall you eat of all that are in the waters: Whatever has fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall you eat. ¹⁰ And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination to you: ¹¹ They shall be even an abomination to you; you shall not eat of their flesh, but you shall have their carcasses in abomination. ¹² Whatever has no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination to you. ¹³ And these are they which you shall have in abomination among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: The eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray, ¹⁴ and the vulture, and the kite after its kind; ¹⁵ every raven after its kind; ¹⁶ and the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after its kind, ¹⁷ and the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl, ¹⁸ and the swan, and the pelican, and the gier eagle, ¹⁹ and the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat. ²⁰ All fowls that creep, going on all four, shall be an abomination to you. ²¹ Yet these may you eat of every flying creeping thing that goes on all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap with upon the earth; ²² even these of them you may eat; the locust after its kind, and the bald locust after its kind, and the beetle after its kind, and the grasshopper after its kind. ²³ But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination to you. ²⁴ And for these you shall be unclean: Whoever touches the carcass of them shall be unclean until the even. ²⁵ And whoever bears ought of the carcass of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even. ²⁶ The carcasses of every beast which divides the hoof, and is not cloven footed, nor chews the cud, are unclean to you: Everyone that touches them shall be unclean. ²⁷ And whatever goes on his paws, among all manner of beasts that go on all four, those are unclean to you: Whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until the even. ²⁸ And he that bears the carcass of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: They are unclean to you. ²⁹ These also shall be unclean to you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth; the weasel, and the mouse, and the tortoise after its kind, ³⁰ and the ferret, and the chameleon, and the lizard, and the snail, and the mole. ³¹ These are unclean to you among all that creep: Whoever does touch them, when they be dead, shall be unclean until the even. ³² And on whatever any of them, when they are dead, does fall, it shall be unclean; whether it be any vessel of wood, or clothing, or skin, or sack, whatever vessel it be, in which any work is done, it must be put into water, and it shall be unclean until the even; so it shall be cleansed. ³³ And every earthen vessel, into where any of them falls, whatever is in it shall be unclean; and you shall break it. ³⁴ Of all meat which may be eaten, that on which such water comes shall be unclean: And all drink that may be drunk in every such vessel shall be unclean. ³⁵ And every thing whereupon any part of their carcass falls shall be unclean; whether it be oven, or ranges for pots, they shall be broken down: For they are unclean and shall be unclean to you. ³⁶ Nevertheless a fountain or pit, in which there is plenty of water, shall be clean: But that which touches their carcass shall be unclean. ³⁷ And if any part of their carcass fall upon any sowing seed which is to be sown, it shall be clean. ³⁸ But if any water be put on the seed, and any part of their carcass fall upon it, it shall be unclean to you. ³⁹ And if any beast, of which you may eat, die; he that touches its carcass shall be unclean until the even. ⁴⁰ And he that eats of the carcass of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: He also that bears the carcass of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even. ⁴¹ And every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth shall be an abomination; it shall not be eaten. ⁴² Whatever goes on the belly, and whatever goes on all four, or whatever has more feet among all creeping things that creep upon the earth, them you shall not eat; for they are an abomination. ⁴³ You shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creeps, neither shall you make yourselves unclean with them, that you should be defiled thereby. ⁴⁴ For I am the LORD your God: You shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and you shall be holy; for I am holy: Neither shall you defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creeps upon the earth. ⁴⁵ For I am the LORD that brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy. ⁴⁶ This is the law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moves in the waters, and of every creature that creeps upon the earth: ⁴⁷ To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.

¹ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

¹⁰ We have an altar, from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat.

¹⁵ Therefore by Him let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name. ¹⁶ But do not forget to do good and to communicate: For with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

⁵ you also, as lively stones, are built up as a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

⁹ But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light:
