¹³ And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: Let us eat and drink; for tomorrow we shall die.

¹² And the harp, and the viol, the tambourine, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: But they do not regard the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of His hands.

²² Woe to those that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:

⁴ My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: The night of my pleasure He has turned into fear to me. ⁵ Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: Arise, you princes, and anoint the shield.

⁷ But they have also erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up by wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment. ⁸ For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so that there is no place clean.

¹² "Come all of you", they say, "I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow shall be like today, and much more abundant."

³ You that assume the evil day is far away, and cause the seat of violence to come near;seat; or, habitation ⁴ that lie on beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall; ⁵ that chant to the sound of the viol, and invent instruments of music for themselves, like David; ⁶ that drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments: But they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph. ⁷ Therefore, they shall now go captive with the first of them that go captive, and the banquet of those that stretched themselves out shall be removed.

²⁶ And as it was in the days of Noah, so also shall it be in the days of the Son of Man. ²⁷ They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. ²⁸ Likewise also, as it was in the days of Lot; they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; ²⁹ but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

³² If, in the manner of men, I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantage is it to me, if the dead do not rise? "Let us eat and drink; for tomorrow we die."

⁵ You have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; you have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.
