¹ And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, "Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into a harlot's house, named Rahab, and lodged there. ² And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, "Behold, there came men in here tonight of the children of Israel to search out the country. ³ And the king of Jericho sent to Rahab, saying, "Bring forth the men that have come to you, which are entered into your house: For they be come to search out all the country. ⁴ And the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, "Men came to me, but I did not know where they were from: ⁵ And it came to pass about the time of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out: Where the men went I do not know: Pursue after them quickly; for you shall overtake them. ⁶ But she had brought them up to the roof of the house, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order on the roof. ⁷ And the men pursued after them the way to Jordan to the fords: And as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate. ⁸ And before they were laid down, she came up to them on the roof; ⁹ and she said to the men, I know that the LORD has given you the land, and that your terror is fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you. ¹⁰ For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when you came out of Egypt; and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed. ¹¹ And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: For the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath. ¹² Now therefore, I implore you, swear to me by the LORD, since I have showed you kindness, that you will also show kindness to my father's house, and give me a true token: ¹³ And that you will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brothers, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death. ¹⁴ And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if you utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the LORD has given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with you. ¹⁵ Then she let them down by a cord through the window: For her house was on the town wall, and she dwelled on the wall. ¹⁶ And she said to them, "Get you to the mountain, lest the pursuers meet you; and hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers be returned: And afterward may you go your way. ¹⁷ And the men said to her, "We will be blameless of this your oath which you have made us swear. ¹⁸ Behold, when we come into the land, you shall bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which you did let us down by: And you shall bring your father, and your mother, and your brothers, and all your father's household, home to you. ¹⁹ And it shall be, that whoever shall go out of the doors of your house into the street, his blood shall be on his head, and we will be guiltless: And whoever shall be with you in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be on him. ²⁰ And if you utter this our business, then we will be quit of your oath which you have made us to swear. ²¹ And she said, "According to your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: And she bound the scarlet line in the window. ²² And they went, and came to the mountain, and stayed there three days, until the pursuers were returned: And the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but did not find them. ²³ So the two men returned, and descended from the mountain, and passed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun, and told him all things that befell them: ²⁴ And they said to Joshua, "Truly the LORD has delivered into our hands all the land; for even all the inhabitants of the country do faint because of us.

² send you men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give to the children of Israel: Of every tribe of their fathers shall you send a man, every one a ruler among them.

¹⁷ And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said to them, "Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain: ¹⁸ And see the land, what it is, and the people that dwells in it, whether they be strong or weak, few or many; ¹⁹ and what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strongholds; ²⁰ and what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood in it, or not. And be you of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the first ripe grapes. ²¹ So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin to Rehob, as men come to Hamath.

¹ And Israel stayed in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab.

⁴⁹ And they pitched by Jordan, from Bethjesimoth even to Abelshittim in the plains of Moab.

¹ And Joshua rose early in the morning; and they removed from Shittim, and came to Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over.

¹⁰ And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal, and kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at sunset in the plains of Jericho.

¹ Now Jericho was strictly shut up because of the children of Israel: None went out, and none came in. ² And the LORD said to Joshua, "See, I have given Jericho into your hand, and its king, and the mighty men of valor. ³ And you all shall compass the city, all you men of war, and go all around the city once. Thus you shall do six days. ⁴ And seven priests shall carry before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: And the seventh day you all shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets. ⁵ And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when you all hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up, every man, straight before him." ⁶ And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said to them, "Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests carry seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD." ⁷ And he said to the people, "Pass on, and compass the city, and let him that is armed pass on before the ark of the LORD." ⁸ And it came to pass, when Joshua had spoken to the people, that the seven priests carrying the seven trumpets of rams' horns passed on before the LORD, and blew with the trumpets: And the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them. ⁹ And the armed men went before the priests that blew with the trumpets, and the rear-guard came after the ark, the priests going onward, and blowing with the trumpets. ¹⁰ And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, "You all shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you to shout; then you all shall shout." ¹¹ So the ark of the LORD compassed the city, going about it once: And they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp. ¹² And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the LORD. ¹³ And seven priests carrying seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD went on continually, and blew with the trumpets: And the armed men went before them; but the rear-guard came after the ark of the LORD, the priests going onward, and blowing with the trumpets. ¹⁴ And the second day they compassed the city once, and returned into the camp: So they did six days. ¹⁵ And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city in the same manner for the seventh time that week: Only on that day they proceeded to compass the city seven times in a row. ¹⁶ And it came to pass on the seventh time around for the day, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said to the people, "Shout; for the LORD has given you the city. ¹⁷ And the city shall be accursed, even it and all that are in it, to the LORD: Only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent. ¹⁸ As for all of you, at the very least keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest you all make yourselves accursed, when you all take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it. ¹⁹ But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated to the LORD: They shall come into the treasury of the LORD." ²⁰ So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: And it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city. ²¹ And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and donkey, with the edge of the sword. ²² But Joshua had said to the two men that had spied out the country, "Go into the harlot's house, and bring the woman out from there, and all that she has, as you both swore to her." ²³ And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brothers, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them outside the camp of Israel. ²⁴ And they burned the city with fire, and all that was in it: Only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the LORD. ²⁵ And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father's household, and all that she had; and she dwells in Israel even to this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

² And the children of Dan sent of their family five men from their coasts, men of valor, from Zorah, and from Eshtaol, to spy out the land, and to search it; and they said to them, "Go, search the land: Who when they came to Mount Ephraim, to the house of Micah, they lodged there.

¹⁴ Then answered the five men that went to spy out the country of Laish, and said to their brothers, Do you know that there is in these houses an ephod, and teraphim, and a graven image, and a molten image? Now therefore consider what you have to do.

¹⁷ And the five men that went to spy out the land went up, and came in thither, and took the graven image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image: And the priest stood in the entering of the gate with the six hundred men that were appointed with weapons of war.

⁵ And Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, and Obed begot Jesse,

¹⁶ Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: Therefore be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

⁵ For this you know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

³¹ By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those that did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace.

²⁵ Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers, and sent them out another way?

¹ A Song of degrees for Solomon. Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain that build it: Unless the LORD keeps the city, the watchman remains awake in vain.

³⁰ There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

¹³ Yes, before the day was, I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of My hand: I will work, and who shall hinder it?

³⁵ And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: And He does according to His will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: And none can stay His hand, or say to Him, "What are You doing?"

²⁴ And it came to pass about three months afterward, that it was told to Judah, saying, "Tamar your daughter-in-law has played the harlot; and also, behold, she is with child by whoredom." And Judah said, "Bring her forth, and let her be burned."

⁹ And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said to them, "You are spies; you have come to see the nakedness of the land." ¹⁰ And they said to him, "No, my lord, but to buy food your servants have come. ¹¹ We are all one man's sons; we are true men, your servants are not spies." ¹² And he said to them, "No, you have come only to see the nakedness of the land."

³¹ And we said to him, 'We are true men; we are not spies:

¹⁴ bring forth him that has cursed outside the camp; and let all that heard him lay their hands on his head, and let all the congregation stone him.

²³ And they did so, and brought forth those five kings to him out of the cave, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.

³ And the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun their lord, Think you that David does honor your father, that he has sent comforters to you? Has not David rather sent his servants to you, to search the city, and to spy it out, and to overthrow it?

³ But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, "Think you that David does honor your father, that he has sent comforters to you? Are not his servants come to you for to search, and to overthrow, and to spy out the land?

³⁰ that the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? They shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.

⁴ Pilate therefore went forth again, and said to them, "Behold, I bring Him forth to you, that you may know that I find no fault in Him."

⁴ And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four bands of four soldiers each to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

⁶ And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: And the keepers before the door kept the prison.

¹⁹ And the midwives said to Pharaoh, "Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered before the midwives come in to them."

¹⁸ And Hushai said to Absalom, "No; but whom the LORD, and this people, and all the men of Israel, choose, his will I be, and with him will I abide. ¹⁹ And again, whom should I serve? Should I not serve in the presence of his son? As I have served in your father's presence, so will I be in your presence.

¹⁹ And the woman took and spread a covering over the well's mouth, and spread ground grain on it; and the thing was not known. ²⁰ And when Absalom's servants came to the woman to the house, they said, "Where is Ahimaaz and Jonathan? And the woman said to them, "They be gone over the brook of water. And when they had sought and could not find them, they returned to Jerusalem.

¹⁹ And Elisha said to them, "This is not the way, neither is this the city: Follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom you seek. But he led them to Samaria.

⁷ And the men pursued after them the way to Jordan to the fords: And as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.

¹⁹ And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the Sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the Sabbath: And some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the Sabbath day.

¹¹ Therefore your gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring to you the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought.

²⁰ In those days, and at that time", said the LORD, "the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: For I will pardon them whom I preserve.

¹ Afterward he brought me again to the door of the house; and behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: For the forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar. ² Then he brought me out of the passageway of the gate northward, and led me around the pathway outside to the outermost gate by the entranceway that looks eastward; and behold, there ran out waters on the right side.

¹² And by the river upon its bank, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for food, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall its fruit be consumed: It shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because of their waters which issued out of the sanctuary: And its fruit shall be for food, and its leaf for medicine."

⁷ For if the truth of God has abounded more through my lie to His glory; why am I still also judged as a sinner? ⁸ And not rather just say, (as we are slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) "Let us do evil, that good may come"? (whose damnation is just.)

²⁵ And its gates shall not be shut at all daily: For there shall be no night there.

¹⁵ And the king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah: ¹⁶ And he said, "When you do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it is a son, then you shall kill him: But if it is a daughter, then she shall live." ¹⁷ But the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the male children alive. ¹⁸ And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said to them, "Why have you done this thing, and have saved the male children alive?" ¹⁹ And the midwives said to Pharaoh, "Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered before the midwives come in to them." ²⁰ Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: And the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty. ²¹ And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that He made them houses.

² And the woman conceived, and bore a son: And when she saw him, that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.

⁸ When you build a new house, then you shall make a battlement for your roof, that you bring not blood on your house, if any man fall from there.

⁸ And before they were laid down, she came up to them on the roof;

² And it came to pass in an evening, that David arose from off his bed, and walked on the roof of the king's house: And from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look on.

¹⁷ Let him who is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house:

³ For you are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

²³ By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months by his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king's command.

¹⁴ After Lot had separated from him, the LORD said to Abram, "Now lift up your eyes, and look from the place where you are northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: ¹⁵ For all the land which you see, I will give it to you, and to your seed forever. ¹⁶ And I will make your seed as the dust of the earth: So that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then your seed shall also be numbered. ¹⁷ Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it to you."

¹⁸ On the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, "To your seed I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates: ¹⁹ The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites, ²⁰ and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims, ²¹ and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites."

⁵ And they journeyed: And the terror of God was upon the cities that were all around them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.

⁶ Moreover he said, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God. ⁷ And the LORD said, "I have surely seen the affliction of My people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; ⁸ and I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a good and a large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey; to the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

¹⁵ Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away. ¹⁶ Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of Your arm they shall be as still as a stone; until Your people pass over, O LORD, until the people which You have purchased pass over.

¹¹ Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: For in the thing about which they dealt proudly He was above them."

²⁷ I will send My fear before you, and will destroy all the people to whom you shall come, and I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you.

²⁵ This day will I begin to put the dread of you and the fear of you on the nations that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of you, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of you.

²⁵ There shall no man be able to stand before you: For the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you on all the land that you shall tread on, as he has said to you.

¹⁰ And all people of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of you.

⁸ When the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.

¹¹ And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: For the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

¹⁴ And his fellow answered and said, "This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: For into his hand has God delivered Midian, and all the host.

¹⁵ And there was trembling in the host, in the field, and among all the people: The garrison, and the spoilers, they also trembled, and the earth quaked: So it was a very great trembling. ¹⁶ And the watchmen of Saul in Gibeah of Benjamin looked; and behold, the multitude melted away, and they went on beating down one another.

¹⁰ And he also that is valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, shall utterly melt: For all Israel knows that your father is a mighty man, and they which be with him are valiant men.

¹⁵ And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: And he said, "Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel: Now therefore, I implore you, take a blessing of your servant.

⁶ For the LORD had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: And they said one to another, See, the king of Israel has hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come on us.

²⁵ For I know that my redeemer lives, and that he shall stand at the latter day on the earth:

¹⁰ The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: The desire of the wicked shall perish.

¹⁶ The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD'S: But the earth He has given to the children of men.

¹² Though a sinner do evil a hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet I know surely that it shall be well with those who fear God, which fear before Him:

¹ The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rides on a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: And the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.

⁵ 'I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and have given it to whom it seemed proper to Me.

¹⁰ She is empty, and void, and wasted: And the heart melts, and the knees smite together, and much pain is in all loins, and the faces of them all gather blackness.

¹⁵ Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with my own? Is your eye evil because I am good?'

¹ Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. ² For by it the elders obtained a good report.

²¹ And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. ²² And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground: And the waters were a wall to them on their right hand, and on their left. ²³ And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. ²⁴ And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked toward the armies of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the armies of the Egyptians, ²⁵ and took off their chariot wheels, that they drove them heavily: So that the Egyptians said, "Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fights against the Egyptians for them." ²⁶ And the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen." ²⁷ And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. ²⁸ And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the army of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there did not remain so much as one of them. ²⁹ But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand, and on their left. ³⁰ In this manner the LORD saved Israel out of the hand of the Egyptians that day; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the seashore. ³¹ And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: And the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.

¹⁴ The people shall hear, and be afraid: Sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina.

²¹ And Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, saying, ²² let me pass through your land: We will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards; we will not drink of the waters of the well: But we will go along by the king's high way, until we be past your borders. ²³ And Sihon would not suffer Israel to pass through his border: But Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness: And he came to Jahaz, and fought against Israel. ²⁴ And Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from Arnon to Jabbok, even to the children of Ammon: For the border of the children of Ammon was strong. ²⁵ And Israel took all these cities: And Israel dwelled in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all its villages. ²⁶ For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even to Arnon. ²⁷ Why those that speak in proverbs say, "Come into Heshbon, let the city of Sihon be built and prepared: ²⁸ For there is a fire gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon: It has consumed Ar of Moab, and the lords of the high places of Arnon. ²⁹ Woe to you, Moab! You are undone, O people of Chemosh: He has given his sons that escaped, and his daughters, into captivity to Sihon king of the Amorites. ³⁰ We have shot at them; Heshbon is perished even to Dibon, and we have laid them waste even to Nophah, which reaches to Medeba. ³¹ Thus Israel dwelled in the land of the Amorites. ³² And Moses sent to spy out Jaazer, and they took its villages, and drove out the Amorites that were there. ³³ And they turned and went up by the way of Bashan: And Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he, and all his people, to the battle at Edrei. ³⁴ And the LORD said to Moses, "Fear him not: For I have delivered him into your hand, and all his people, and his land; and you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelled at Heshbon. ³⁵ So they smote him, and his sons, and all his people, until there was none left him alive: And they possessed his land.

²² God brought them out of Egypt; he has as it were the strength of an unicorn.

³⁰ But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: For the LORD your God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into your hand, as appears this day.

²⁴ That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty: That you might fear the LORD your God forever.

¹⁴ The people shall hear, and be afraid: Sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina.

²⁸ Where shall we go up? Our brothers have discouraged our heart, saying, "The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.

³⁹ Know therefore this day, and consider it in your heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and on the earth beneath: There is none else.

⁸ And the officers shall speak further to the people, and they shall say, "What man is there that is fearful and fainthearted? Let him go and return to his house, lest his brethren's heart faint as well as his heart.

¹ And it came to pass, when all the kings of the Amorites, which were on the side of Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, which were by the sea, heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of Jordan from before the children of Israel, until we were passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Israel.

⁵ And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: For they chased them from before the gate even to Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: Why the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.

⁸ Nevertheless my brothers that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: But I wholly followed the LORD my God.

⁶⁰ That all the people of the earth may know that the LORD is God, and that there is none else.

¹⁴ I am poured out like water, and all My bones are out of joint: My heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of My bowels.

¹⁸ That men may know that You, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, are the Most High over all the earth.

¹⁵ So the heathen shall fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth Your glory.

⁷ Therefore all hands shall be faint, and every man's heart shall melt:

¹⁹ O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come to You from the ends of the earth, and shall say, "Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things in which there is no profit." ²⁰ Shall a man make gods to himself, and they are not gods? ²¹ "Therefore, behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know My hand and My might; and they shall know that My name is The LORD."

³⁴ And at the end of the days, I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and I praised and honored Him that lives forever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His kingdom is from generation to generation: ³⁵ And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: And He does according to His will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: And none can stay His hand, or say to Him, "What are You doing?"

²⁵ Then king Darius wrote to all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; "Peace be multiplied to you. ²⁶ I make a decree, that in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: For He is the living God, and stedfast forever, and His kingdom is that which shall not be destroyed, and His dominion shall even be to the end. ²⁷ He delivers and rescues, and He works signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, Who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions."

²⁰ Thus says the LORD of hosts; 'It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities: ²¹ And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, "Let us go speedily to pray before the LORD, and to seek the LORD of hosts: I will go also." ²² Yes, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD.' ²³ Thus says the LORD of hosts; 'In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, "We will go with you: For we have heard that God is with you."

¹⁶ and said to the mountains and rocks, "Fall on us, and hide us from the face of Him that sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:

³ And I will make you swear by the LORD, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that you shall not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:

⁹ And the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and swore to him concerning that matter.

¹³ And the blood shall be for a token sign to you upon the houses where you are: And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

¹³ And that you will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brothers, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.

¹⁸ Behold, when we come into the land, you shall bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which you did let us down by: And you shall bring your father, and your mother, and your brothers, and all your father's household, home to you.

¹⁵ And Joshua made peace with them, and made a league with them, to let them live: And the princes of the congregation swore to them.

¹⁸ And the children of Israel smote them not, because the princes of the congregation had sworn to them by the LORD God of Israel. And all the congregation murmured against the princes. ¹⁹ But all the princes said to all the congregation, We have sworn to them by the LORD God of Israel: Now therefore we may not touch them. ²⁰ This we will do to them; we will even let them live, lest wrath be on us, because of the oath which we swore to them.

¹⁴ And you shall not only show me the kindness of the LORD while I yet live, that I do not die: ¹⁵ But you also shall not cut off your kindness from my house forever: No, not when the LORD has cut off the enemies of David, every one, from the face of the earth." ¹⁶ So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, "Let the LORD even require it at the hand of David's enemies." ¹⁷ And Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he loved him: For he loved him as he loved his own soul.

²¹ Therefore, swear now to me by the LORD, that you will not cut off my seed after me, and that you will not destroy my name out of my father's house." ²² And David swore to Saul. And Saul went home; but David and his men got themselves up to the secure place.

¹⁵ And David said to him, "Can you bring me down to this company?" And he said, "Swear to me by God, that you will neither kill me, nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring you down to this company."

¹³ And he also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God: But he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart from turning to the LORD God of Israel.

⁶ For how can I endure to see the evil that shall come to my people? Or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?"

¹⁶ And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of My people, to swear by My name, The LORD lives; as they taught My people to swear by Baal; then they shall be built in the midst of My people.

⁴ and the LORD said to him, "Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark on the foreheads of the men that sigh and who cry for all the abominations that are done in the midst of it." ⁵ And to the others He said in my hearing, "Go after him through the city, and smite: Do not let your eye spare, neither have pity: ⁶ Utterly slay old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: But do not come near any man on whom is the mark; and begin at My sanctuary." Then they began at the elderly men who were before the house.

⁴⁴ Moreover he who betrayed Him gave them a sign, saying, "Whomever I kiss, that same is He: Take Him, and lead Him away safely."

³¹ without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

⁸ But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

¹⁶ The Lord give mercy to the house of Onesiphorus; for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain: ¹⁷ But when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me. ¹⁸ The Lord grant to him that he may find mercy from the Lord in that day: And you know very well in how many things he ministered to me at Ephesus.

¹³ For he that has shown no mercy shall have judgment without mercy; and mercy rejoices against judgment.

⁴⁹ And now if you will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me: And if not, tell me; that I may turn to the right hand, or to the left."

²⁹ And Moses said to Hobab, the son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses' father-in-law, We are journeying to the place of which the LORD said, "I will give it to you: Come you with us, and we will do you good: For the LORD has spoken good concerning Israel. ³⁰ And he said to him, "I will not go; but I will depart to my own land, and to my kindred. ³¹ And he said, "Leave us not, I implore you; for as much as you know how we are to encamp in the wilderness, and you may be to us instead of eyes. ³² And it shall be, if you go with us, yes, it shall be, that what goodness the LORD shall do to us, the same will we do to you.

¹⁷ And the city shall be accursed, even it and all that are in it, to the LORD: Only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.

²⁵ And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father's household, and all that she had; and she dwells in Israel even to this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

²⁴ And the spies saw a man come forth out of the city, and they said to him, "Show us, we implore you, the entrance into the city, and we will show you mercy. ²⁵ And when he showed them the entrance into the city, they smote the city with the edge of the sword; but they let go the man and all his family.

⁸ Therefore you shall deal kindly with your servant; for you have brought your servant into a covenant of the LORD with you: Notwithstanding, if there is iniquity in me, slay me yourself; for why should you bring me to your father?"

¹ And David said, "Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan's sake?

³⁹ And as the king passed by, he cried out to the king: And he said, "Your servant went out into the middle of the battle; and behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man to me, and said, "Keep this man: If by any means he be missing, then shall your life be for his life, or else you shall pay a talent of silver.

²⁴ A man that has friends must show himself friendly: And there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.

⁷ Blessed are the merciful: For they shall obtain mercy.

²⁰ So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: And it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

¹² So Michal let David down through a window: And he went, and fled, and escaped. ¹³ And Michal took a statue, and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats' hair for his head, and covered it with a cloth. ¹⁴ And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, "He is sick." ¹⁵ And Saul sent the messengers again to see David, saying, "Bring me up to him in the bed, that I may slay him." ¹⁶ And when the messengers had come in, behold, there was a statue in the bed, with a pillow of goats' hair for his head. ¹⁷ And Saul said to Michal, "Why have you deceived me so, and sent away my enemy, that he has escaped?" And Michal answered Saul, "He said to me, 'Let me go; why should I kill you?' "

²⁵ Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a basket.

³³ And I was let down in a basket through a window by the wall, and escaped his hands.

²² And they went, and came to the mountain, and stayed there three days, until the pursuers were returned: And the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but did not find them.

¹⁴ And David abode in the wilderness in secure places, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God did not deliver him into his hand.

²⁹ And David went up from there, and dwelled in secure places at Engedi.

¹ To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. In the LORD I put my trust: How do you say to my soul, "Flee as a bird to your mountain"?

³ And I will make you swear by the LORD, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that you shall not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell: ⁴ But you shall go to my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife to my son Isaac." ⁵ And the servant said to him, "Peradventure the woman will not be willing to follow me to this land: Must I necessarily bring your son again to the land from where you came?" ⁶ And Abraham said to him, "Beware that you do not bring my son to that place again. ⁷ The LORD God of heaven, which took me from my father's house, and from the land of my kindred, and which spoke to me, and that swore to me, saying, 'To your seed I will give this land'; he shall send his angel before you, and you shall take a wife to my son from there. ⁸ And if the woman will not be willing to follow you, then you shall be clear from this my oath: Only do not bring my son to that place again."

⁷ You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that takes His name in vain.

¹¹ You shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another. ¹² And you shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shall you profane the name of your God: I am the LORD.

² If a man vow a vow to the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.

²⁰ And if you utter this our business, then we will be quit of your oath which you have made us to swear.

¹ Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David inquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites. ² And the king called the Gibeonites, and said to them; (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites; and the children of Israel had sworn to them: And Saul sought to slay them in his zeal to the children of Israel and Judah).

⁷ But the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of the LORD's oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.

¹ And the LORD said to Noah, "Come into the ark, you and all your house; for I have seen you are righteous before me in this generation.

² And I will make a great nation of you, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing:

¹² And the men said to Lot, "Do you have anyone here beside yourselves? Son-in-law, and your sons, and your daughters, and whatever you have in the city, bring them out of this place: ¹³ For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them has waxed great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD has sent us to destroy it." ¹⁴ And Lot went out, and spoke to his sons-in-law, which married his daughters, and said, "Rise up, get out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city." But he seemed as one that mimicks in derision to his sons-in-law. ¹⁵ And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, "Arise, take your wife, and your two daughters, which are here; lest you be consumed in the iniquity of the city." ¹⁶ And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful to him: And they brought him forth, and set him outside the city. ¹⁷ And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, "Escape for your life; do not look behind you, neither stay anywhere in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest you be consumed."

⁴ then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two birds alive and clean, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop:

⁸ And they shall spread on them a cloth of scarlet, and cover the same with a covering of badgers' skins, and shall put in its staffs.

⁶ And the priest shall take cedar wood, and hyssop, and scarlet, and cast it into the middle of the burning of the heifer.

¹² Now therefore, I implore you, swear to me by the LORD, since I have showed you kindness, that you will also show kindness to my father's house, and give me a true token: ¹³ And that you will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brothers, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.

²¹ And she said, "According to your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: And she bound the scarlet line in the window.

²³ And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brothers, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them outside the camp of Israel.

⁹ And Jesus said to him, "This day salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.

²⁷ And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that had come together.

³³ Immediately therefore I sent to you; and you have done well that you have come. Now therefore, we are all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded you from God."

¹⁴ who shall tell you words, by which you and all your household shall be saved.'

¹⁶ The Lord give mercy to the house of Onesiphorus; for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain:

¹⁹ For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water, scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,

²³ For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he sees the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not permit the destroyer to come in to your houses to smite you.

⁹ For everyone that curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death: He has cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be on him.

¹¹ And the man that lies with his father's wife has uncovered his father's nakedness: Both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be on them.

²⁶ But if the slayer shall at any time come outside the border of the city of his refuge, where he had fled; ²⁷ and the revenger of blood find him outside the borders of the city of his refuge, and the revenger of blood kill the slayer; he shall not be guilty of blood: ²⁸ Because he should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest: But after the death of the high priest the slayer shall return into the land of his possession.

¹⁴ And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if you utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the LORD has given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with you.

¹⁶ And David said to him, "Your blood be upon your head; for your mouth has testified against you, saying, 'I have slain the LORD's anointed.' "

²⁸ And afterward when David heard it, he said, "I and my kingdom are guiltless before the LORD forever from the blood of Abner the son of Ner: ²⁹ Let it rest on the head of Joab, and on all his father's house; and let there not fail from the house of Joab one that has an issue, or that is a leper, or that leans on a staff, or that falls on the sword, or that lacks bread.

¹¹ How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house on his bed? Shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?

³² And the LORD shall return his blood on his own head, who fell on two men more righteous and better than he, and slew them with the sword, my father David not knowing of it, to wit, Abner the son of Ner, captain of the host of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, captain of the host of Judah.

³⁶ And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said to him, "Build you a house in Jerusalem, and dwell there, and go not forth there any where. ³⁷ For it shall be, that on the day you go out, and pass over the brook Kidron, you shall know for certain that you shall surely die: Your blood shall be upon your own head. ³⁸ And Shimei said to the king, The saying is good: As my lord the king has said, "so will your servant do. And Shimei dwelled in Jerusalem many days. ³⁹ And it came to pass at the end of three years, that two of the servants of Shimei ran away to Achish son of Maachah king of Gath. And they told Shimei, saying, "Behold, your servants be in Gath. ⁴⁰ And Shimei arose, and saddled his donkey, and went to Gath to Achish to seek his servants: And Shimei went, and brought his servants from Gath. ⁴¹ And it was told Solomon that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath, and was come again. ⁴² And the king sent and called for Shimei, and said to him, "Did I not make you to swear by the LORD, and protested to you, saying, "Know for a certain, on the day you go out, and walk abroad any where, that you shall surely die? And you said to me, The word that I have heard is good.

⁴ then whoever hears the sound of the trumpet, and does not take warning; if the sword comes, and takes him away, his blood shall be on his own head. ⁵ He heard the sound of the trumpet, and did not take warning; his blood shall be on him. But he who takes warning shall deliver his soul.

²⁴ When Pilate saw that he could prevail in nothing, but rather that a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, "I am innocent of the blood of this just Person: You see to it." ²⁵ Then all the people answered, and said, "His blood be on us, and on our children."

⁶ But when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his clothes, and said to them, "Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: From now on I will go to the Gentiles."

²⁶ Therefore I testify for the record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.

³¹ Paul said to the centurion, and to the soldiers, "Unless these men remain in the ship, you cannot be saved."

⁹ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

²⁹ Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, shall he be thought worthy, who has tread underfoot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant, with which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and has extreme malice toward the Spirit of grace?

²⁷ But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that any man teach you: But as the same anointing teaches you about all things, and is truth, and is not a lie, and even as it has taught you, you shall abide in Him. ²⁸ And now, little children, abide in Him; that when He appears, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.

¹³ A talebearer reveals secrets: But he that is of a faithful spirit conceals the matter.

²⁴ Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house upon a rock:

⁵ His mother said to the servants, "Whatever He says to you, do it."

¹⁰ And Saul sought to smite David with the javelin, even to the wall: But he slipped away out of Saul's presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: And David fled, and escaped that night. ¹¹ Saul also sent messengers to David's house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: And Michal David's wife told him, saying, "If you do not save your life tonight, tomorrow you shall be slain." ¹² So Michal let David down through a window: And he went, and fled, and escaped.

²⁰ And when Absalom's servants came to the woman to the house, they said, "Where is Ahimaaz and Jonathan? And the woman said to them, "They be gone over the brook of water. And when they had sought and could not find them, they returned to Jerusalem.

⁶ Everyone that is godly shall pray to You for this in a time when You may be found: In the floods of great waters they surely shall not come near to him. ⁷ You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall compass me around with songs of deliverance. Selah.

¹⁵ Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away.

³¹ And I will set your bounds from the Red sea even to the sea of the Philistines, and from the desert to the river: For I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand; and you shall drive them out before you.

³² And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched to the children of Israel, saying, "The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eats up its inhabitants; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. ³³ And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: And we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

⁸ This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it: For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.

⁹ and she said to the men, I know that the LORD has given you the land, and that your terror is fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you. ¹⁰ For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when you came out of Egypt; and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed. ¹¹ And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: For the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

⁴⁴ And the LORD gave them rest all around, according to all that he swore to their fathers: And there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand. ⁴⁵ There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken to the house of Israel; all came to pass.

⁵ They saw it, and so they marveled; they were troubled, and hurried away. ⁶ Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.

¹³ As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to those that send him: For he refreshes the soul of his masters.

¹⁶ and said to the mountains and rocks, "Fall on us, and hide us from the face of Him that sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: ¹⁷ For the great day of His wrath has come; and who shall be able to stand?"
