Luke 7 Cross References - TKJU

1 Now when He ended all His sayings in the audience of the people, He entered into Capernaum. 2 And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick, and ready to die. 3 Now when he heard about Jesus, he sent the elders of the Jews to Him, beseeching Him that He would come and heal his servant. 4 And when they came to Jesus, they implored Him instantly, saying that he was worthy for whom He should do this: 5 "For he loves our nation, and he has built us a synagogue." 6 Then Jesus went with them. And when He was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, "Lord, do not trouble Yourself: For I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof: 7 Therefore I neither did I count myself worthy to come to You: But say in a word, and my servant shall be healed. 8 For I also am a man set under authority, having soldiers under me, and I say to one, 'Go', and he goes; and to another, 'Come', and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this', and he does it." 9 When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned himself around, and said to the people that followed Him, "I say to you, I have not found such great faith, no, not in Israel." 10 And those that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick. 11 And it came to pass the day after, that He went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a great many people. 12 Now when He came near the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: And a great many people from the city were with her. 13 And when the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her, and said to her, "Do not weep." 14 Then He came and touched the coffin: And those who bore him stood still. And He said, "Young man, I say to you, Arise." 15 Then he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And He delivered him to his mother. 16 And there came a fear on everyone: And they glorified God, saying that, "A great prophet is risen up among us"; and that, "God has visited His people." 17 And this rumor about Him went forth throughout all Judea, and throughout all the surrounding region. 18 Then the disciples of John brought word to him about all these things. 19 And John, calling two of his disciples to him, sent them to Jesus, saying, "Are You He that should come? Or should we look for another?" 20 When the men had come to Him, they said, "John the Baptist has sent us to You, saying, 'Are You He that should come? Or should we look for another?' " 21 And in that same hour He cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and from evil spirits; and to many that were blind He gave sight. 22 Then Jesus answering said to them, "Go your way, and tell John the things you have seen and heard; that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the gospel is preached to the poor. 23 And blessed is he who shall not be offended in Me." 24 And when the messengers of John were departed, He began to speak to the people concerning John, "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? 25 But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft apparel? Behold, those who are gorgeously clothed, and live delicately, are in kings' courts. 26 But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, And much more than a prophet. 27 This is he, of whom it is written, 'Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, which shall prepare Your way before You.' 28 For I say to you, Among those who are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: But he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he." 29 And all the people who heard Him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. 30 But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, not being baptized by him. 31 And the Lord said, "To what then shall I liken the men of this generation? And to what are they like? 32 They are like children sitting in the marketplace, and calling to one another, saying, 'We have piped to you, and you have not danced; we have mourned to you, and you have not wept.' 33 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and you say, 'He has a devil.' 34 The Son of Man has come eating and drinking; and you say, 'Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!' 35 But wisdom is justified by all her children." 36 Moreover one of the Pharisees desired that He would eat with him. And He went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to eat. 37 And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat to eat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of fragrant ointment, 38 and stood at His feet behind Him weeping, and began to wash His feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head; and kissed His feet, and anointed them with the fragrant ointment. 39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke within himself, saying, "This Man, if He were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that touches Him: For she is a sinner." 40 And Jesus answering said to him, "Simon, I have something to say to you." So he said, "Master, speak on." 41 "There was a certain creditor who had two debtors: The one owed five hundred silver coins, and the other fifty. 42 And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me therefore, which of them will love him most?" 43 Simon answered and said, "I suppose that the one to whom he forgave most." And He said to him, "You have rightly judged." 44 Then He turned to the woman, and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, you gave Me no water for My feet: But she has washed My feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. 45 You gave Me no kiss: But this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. 46 You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant ointment. 47 Therefore I say to you, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little." 48 Moreover He said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." 49 And those who sat to eat with Him began to say within themselves, "Who is this that forgives sins also?" 50 And He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."

And his servant was healed that same hour.

1 Corinthians 1:21-28

21 For since in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of preaching to save those that believe. 22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23 But we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling-block, and to the Greeks foolishness; 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26 For you see your calling, brethren, how not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 and base things of the world, and things which are despised, God has chosen, yes, and things which are not, to bring to nothing things that are:

James 2:14-26

14 What does it profit, my brethren, though a man says he has faith, and does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed and filled"; but you do not give them those things which are needful to the body; what does it profit? 17 Even so faith, if it does not have works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yes, a man may say, "You have faith, and I have works": Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that there is one God; you do well: The devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But are you willing to know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Do you see how faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him as righteousness": And he was called the Friend of God. 24 You see then how a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers, and sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
