¹⁶ God indeed made the two great luminaries, the greater luminary for the regulations of the day, and the lesser luminary, with the stars, for the regulations of the night.

¹⁹ and that upon looking up to heaven, and seeing the sun, and the moon, and the stars, and all the host of heaven, thou mayst not be led astray, and worship them, and perform religious service to those things which the Lord thy God hath arranged in due order, for all the nations which are under heaven.

¹² Then Joshua spoke to the Lord, on the day God delivered up the Amorite into the hand of Israel. ¹¹ The sun was withdrawn: and the moon stood on its orbit. Thy bolts will glance for light, for a glare of the lightening of thine arms.

²⁹ Now immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give her splendour; and the stars will fall from heaven, and the heavenly powers will be shaken. And then will appear the sign of the son of man in heaven.

⁴⁵ Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over the whole land till the ninth hour:

⁴¹ The glory of the sun is of one kind; and the glory of the moon, of another; and the glory of the stars is different: One star differeth from another in glory.

⁸ And the fourth angel poured out his vial on the sun; and power was given to it to scorch men with fire. ⁹ And the men were scorched with great heat; and they blasphemed the name of God who hath power over these plagues and did not reform to give glory to him.

²³ And the city had no need of the sun nor of the moon to enlighten it; for the glory of God enlightened it; and the lamb is its lamp:
