¹⁷ At length, coming to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father have bread enough and to spare, while I am perishing with hunger?

²⁰ As a dream of one awaked out of sleep. Thou, Lord, in thy city wilt spurn their ghost;

³ There is this evil in every thing done under the sun, that one event happeneth to them all, so that the heart of the children of men being filled with evil there is an instability in their heart during their life, and it followeth them to the dead.

And he said, I am Jesus, whom thou art persecuting. ¹⁶ But arise, and stand on thy feet; for I have appeared to thee for this purpose, to appoint thee a minister and a witness of the things which thou hast seen, and of the things for which I will appear to thee, ¹⁷ delivering thee from the people and the nations to which I now send thee ¹⁸ to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of satan to God, that they may receive a remission of sins and an inheritance among them who are sanctified by the belief in me. ¹⁹ From that time, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,

⁴ then God, who is rich in mercy, on the account of the great love with which he loved us, ⁵ even when we were dead in those trespasses, did bring us to life with the Christ, [by grace you are saved]

¹⁴ therefore it is said, "Awake thou who sleepest and arise from the dead and the Christ will shine upon thee.

⁴ but when the kindness and love of God our saviour for man was brightly displayed, ⁵ not for works of righteousness which we had done, but according to his own mercy; he saved us by a bath of regeneration, and a renewal of a holy spirit, ⁶ which he poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our saviour,

¹⁶ Be not led astray, my beloved brethren: ¹⁷ Every good donation, and every perfect gift, is from above, and cometh down from the father of lights, with whom there is no change, nor shadow of turning. 18 Of his own will he hath impregnated us with a word of truth, that we may be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.
