¹ Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, all evil speaking,

⁸ And Saul was very angry, and the saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands: and what can he have more but the kingdom? ⁹ And Saul eyed David from that day and forward.

¹³ But the hypocrites in heart heap up wrath: they cry not when he binds them.

² Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputes not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

¹³ Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking guile.

¹ Fret not yourself because of evildoers, neither be you envious against the workers of iniquity.

³ For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

³¹ Envy you not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.

³⁰ A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.

¹ Be not you envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.

¹⁹ Fret not yourself because of evil men, neither be you envious at the wicked:

²⁰ In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats;

²² All of you shall defile also the covering of your graven images of silver, and the ornament of your molten images of gold: you shall cast them away as a menstruous cloth; you shall say unto it, Get you behind.

³¹ Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby all of you have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will all of you die, O house of Israel? ³² For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dies, says the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live all of you.

⁵ You hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of your own eye; and then shall you see clearly to cast out the splinter out of your brother's eye.

⁷ All of you hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,

²⁸ Even so all of you also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within all of you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

⁵¹ And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

¹⁵ Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt all of you me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.

⁴² Either how can you say to your brother, Brother, let me pull out the splinter that is in your eye, when you yourself behold not the beam that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of your own eye, and then shall you see clearly to pull out the splinter that is in your brother's eye.

⁴⁴ Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for all of you are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them.

¹ In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware all of you of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and says of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

²⁹ Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, ill will; whisperers,

¹² The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. ¹³ Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

² I have fed you with milk, and not with food: for until now all of you were not able to bear it, neither yet now are all of you able. ³ For all of you are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are all of you not carnal, and walk as men?

⁸ Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

²⁰ Brethren, be not children in understanding: nevertheless in malice be all of you children, but in understanding be men.

²⁰ For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as all of you would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:

²¹ Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. ²² But the fruit of the Spirit (o. pneuma) is love, (o. agape) joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, ²³ Meekness, wilful restrain: against such there is no law. ²⁴ And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. ²⁵ If we live in the Spirit, (o. pneuma) let us also walk in the Spirit. (o. pneuma) ²⁶ Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

²² That all of you put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; ²³ And be renewed in the spirit (o. pneuma) of your mind; ²⁴ And that all of you put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. ²⁵ Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

³¹ Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

⁵ Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: ⁶ For which things' sake the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience: ⁷ In the which all of you also walked some time, when all of you lived in them. ⁸ But now all of you also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

³ For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:

¹¹ Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.

³ The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becomes holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

³ For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. ⁴ But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, ⁵ Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit; (o. pneuma)

¹ Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which does so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

²¹ Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and abundance of evil, and receive with meekness the implanted word, (o. logos) which is able to save your souls.

¹⁴ But if all of you have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

¹⁶ For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. ¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be implored, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

⁵ Do all of you think that the scripture says in vain, The spirit (o. pneuma) that dwells in us lusts to envy?

¹¹ Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaks evil of his brother, and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law, and judges the law: but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge.

⁹ Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest all of you be condemned: behold, the judge stands before the door.

¹⁸ Forasmuch as all of you know that all of you were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; ¹⁹ But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: ²⁰ Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, ²¹ Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. ²² Seeing all of you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit (o. pneuma) unto sincere love of the brethren, see that all of you love one another with a pure heart fervently: ²³ Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word (o. logos) of God, which lives and abides for ever. ²⁴ For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower thereof falls away: ²⁵ But the word (o. rhema) of the Lord endures for ever. And this is the word (o. rhema) which by the gospel is preached unto you.

¹⁶ As free, and not using your liberty for a coat of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.

²² Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

¹⁰ For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:

² That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

⁴ Wherein they think it strange that all of you run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:

⁵ And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.
