10 "This is my covenant with you and your descendants after you, the covenant you are to keep: Every male among you shall be circumcised. 11 "You are to undergo circumcision. It will be the sign of the covenant between us. 12 "For the generations to come every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised. This includes those born in your household or bought with money from a foreigner, those who are not your offspring. 13 "Whether born in your household or bought with your money, they must be circumcised. My covenant in your flesh is to be a long lasting covenant. 14 "Any male not circumcised in the flesh will be cut off from his people. He has broken my covenant." 15 God said to Abraham, "As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but her name will be Sarah. 16 "I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations. Kings of peoples will come from her." 17 Abraham fell to his face. He laughed and said to himself: "Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?" 18 Abraham said to God: "If only Ishmael might live under your blessing!" 19 God replied: "Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son! You will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as a long lasting covenant for his descendants after him. 20 "Concerning Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him. I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers. He will be the father of twelve rulers, and I will make him into a great nation. 21 "But my covenant I will establish with Isaac. Sarah will bear him to you by this time next year." 22 When he finished speaking with Abraham, God went up from him. 23 On that very day Abraham took his son Ishmael and all those born in his household or bought with his money, every male in his household, and circumcised them, as God told him. 24 Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised. 25 His son Ishmael was thirteen. 26 Abraham and his son Ishmael were both circumcised on that same day. 27 Every male in Abraham's household, including those born in his household or bought from a foreigner, was circumcised with him.

Romans 4:8-12

8 Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will never count against him.” 9 Is this blessing only on the circumcised, or also on the uncircumcised? We have been saying that Abraham’s faith was credited as righteousness. 10 In what context was it credited? Was it after his circumcision, or before? It was not after, but before. 11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. So he is the father of all who believe but are not circumcised, in order that righteousness might be credited to them. 12 And he is also the father of the circumcised who not only are circumcised, but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised.

1 Corinthians 7:18-19

18 Was a man already circumcised when he was called? He should not become uncircumcised. Was a man still uncircumcised when called? He should not be circumcised. 19 Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God’s commandments is what matters.

Galatians 2:3-4

Galatians 2:11-14

11 But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he was clearly wrong. 12 For before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself, for fear of those in the circumcision group. 13 The other Jews joined in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray. 14 When I saw that they were not walking in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of them all, “If you, who are a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews?

Galatians 5:1-4

1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not be encumbered once more by a yoke of slavery. 2 Take notice: I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. 3 Again I testify to every man who gets himself circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole Law. 4 You who are trying to be justified by the Law have been severed from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.

6 For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. All that matters is faith, expressed through love.

What counts is a new creation. 16 Peace and mercy to all who walk by this rule, even to the Israel of God.
