33 I will scatter you among the nations, and I will draw out the sword after you. Your land will be a desolation, and your cities shall be a waste.
34 Then the land will enjoy its sabbaths as long as it lies desolate and you are in your enemies' land. Even then the land will rest and enjoy its sabbaths.

Numbers 16:1-35
1 Korah son of Izhar, son of Kohath, son of Levi, arose along with Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab, and On son of Peleth (sons of Reuben);"
2 and they rose up against Moses, with two hundred and fifty men of the sons of Israel, princes of the congregation, of the council, men of renown;
3 They came together to confront Moses and Aaron. They said: "You have gone far enough! Everyone in the whole congregation is holy. the LORD is among them. Why do you set yourselves above the LORD's assembly?"
4 When Moses heard this, he fell on his face.
5 Then he said to Korah and all his followers: "In the morning the LORD will show who belongs to him, who is holy. He will have that person come near him. Only the person the LORD chooses will be allowed to come near him.
6 »Korah, you and all your followers must do this tomorrow: Take incense burners,
7 tomorrow put fire in them and place incense on them before the LORD; the man whom the LORD chooses will be the holy one. You take too much upon yourselves, sons of Levi!"
8 Moses also said to Korah: »Listen, you sons of Levi!
9 Is it a small thing to you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself, to do the service of the LORD's tabernacle, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them;
10 "He brought you and all the other Levites near. But now you demand to be priests.
11 "You and all your followers have joined forces against the LORD! Who is Aaron that you should complain about him?"
12 Then Moses sent for Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab. But they said: "We will not come!
13 "Is it not enough that you brought us out of a land flowing with milk and honey only to kill us in the desert? Do you also have to order us around?
14 Moreover you have not brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey, nor given us inheritance of fields and vineyards. Will you put out the eyes of these men? We will not come up.
15 Moses was very angry, and said to the LORD, "Do not respect their offering: I have not taken one donkey from them, neither have I hurt one of them."
16 And Moses said to Korah, You and all your band are to come before the Lord tomorrow, you and they and Aaron:
17 "Each man will take his incense burner and put incense in it. They will offer all two hundred and fifty incense burners to the LORD. Then you and Aaron offer your incense burners."
18 So each man took his incense burner. He put burning coals and incense in it and stood with Moses and Aaron at the entrance to the tent of meeting.
19 Korah assembled all his followers who opposed Moses and Aaron at the entrance to the tent of meeting. The glory of the LORD appeared to the entire group.
20 the LORD said to Moses and Aaron:
21 "Separate yourselves from this congregation, that I may consume them at once."
22 And they fell on their faces, and said, O God, God of the spirits of all flesh; shall one man sin, and will You be angry with all the congregation?
23 Then the LORD said to Moses:
24 Say to the people, Come away from the tent of Korah Dathan, and Abiram.
25 Moses got up and went to Dathan and Abiram, and the elders of Israel followed him.
26 He said to the congregation: "Move away from the tents of these wicked men. Do not touch anything that belongs to them, or you’ll be swept away because of all their sins."
27 So they moved away from the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. Dathan and Abiram came out and were standing at the entrances to their tents with their wives and children.
28 Moses said: "This is how you will know that the LORD sent me to do all these things and that it wasn’t my idea:
29 "If these men die a natural death like all other people the LORD has not sent me.
30 "But if the LORD does something totally new, if the ground opens up, swallows them and everything that belongs to them, and they go down alive to their graves; then you will know that these men have treated the LORD with contempt."
31 When he finished speaking, the ground under them split,
32 The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up with their households, all of Korah's men, and all their goods.
33 They went down alive to their graves with everything that belonged to them. The ground covered them. They disappeared from the assembly.
34 And all Israel around them fled at their cry. For they said, Lest the earth swallow us up.
35 And fire came forth from the LORD and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered the incense.
Deuteronomy 9:7
7 Remember, and don’t forget, how you provoked the LORD your God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day that you left the land of Egypt until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against the LORD.

26 Your bodies will be meat for all the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth; there will be no one to send them away.
27 the LORD will strike you with the boil of Egypt and with the tumours, the scurvy and the itch, from which you cannot be healed.
28 The LORD shall strike you with madness, and blindness, and confusion of mind:
29 and you will grope at noonday, as the blind man gropes in darkness. And you will not prosper in your ways. And you will only be oppressed and robbed always and there will be none to save you.
30 You'll be engaged to a woman, but another man will rape her. You'll build a house but you won't live in it. You'll plant a vineyard but you won't harvest it.
31 Your ox will be slain before your eyes and you will not eat of it. Your donkey will be violently taken away from before your face and will not be restored to you. Your sheep will be given to your enemies and you will have none to save you.
32 Your sons and your daughters shall be given to other people, and you will be looking on longingly for them all day, but you will be powerless to do anything.
33 A people whom you don't know will devour what your land and labor produces. You'll be only oppressed and discouraged continually
34 so that the sights that you see with your eyes will drive you mad.
35 The LORD shall strike you in the knees, and in the legs, with painful boils that cannot be healed, from the sole of your foot unto the top of your head.
36 "the LORD will bring you and your king, whom you set over you, to a nation that neither you nor your fathers have known. There you will serve other gods made of wood and stone.
37 And you will become a wonder and a name of shame among all the nations where the Lord will take you.
38 You shall carry much seed out to the field, and you shall gather in little; for the locusts will devour it.
39 You will plant vineyards and dress them, but you will neither drink of the wine, nor harvest, because worms will eat them.
40 You will have olive trees throughout all your borders, but you won't anoint yourself with the oil, for your olives will drop off.
41 You will beget sons and daughters, but they will not be your, for they will go into captivity.
42 »Locusts will take over all your trees and the fruit of your land.
43 The foreigner who is among you will mount up above you higher and higher, and you will come down lower and lower.
44 He will lend to you and you will not lend to him. He will be the head and you will be the tail.
45 All these curses will come on you, and will pursue you and overtake you, until you are destroyed, because you didn't listen to the LORD your God's voice, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded you.
46 They will be for a sign and for a wonder to you and to your offspring forever.
47 "Because you didn't serve the LORD your God joyfully and wholeheartedly, despite the abundance of everything you have,
48 therefore you will serve your enemies whom Yahweh sends against you, in hunger, in thirst, in nakedness, and in lack of all things. He will put an iron yoke on your neck until he has destroyed you.
49 "the LORD will bring a nation against you from far away, from the end of the earth, as the eagle swoops down, a nation whose language you will not understand,
50 A hard-faced nation, who will have no respect for the old or mercy for the young:
51 And it shall consume the fruit of your livestock and the fruit of your ground until you are destroyed, and who will not leave for you any grain, wine, and olive oil, calves of your herds, and lambs of your flock until it has destroyed you.
52 "They will blockade all your cities until the high, fortified walls you trust come down everywhere in your land. They will blockade all the cities everywhere in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.
53 "Because of the hardships your enemies will make you suffer during the blockade, you will eat the flesh of your own children, the sons and daughters, whom the LORD your God has given you.
54 "The kindest and most sensitive man among you will become stingy toward his brother, the wife he loves, and the children he still has left.
55 »He will give none of them any of the flesh of his children that he is eating. It will be all that he has left. These are hardships your enemies will make you suffer during the blockade of all your cities.
56 "The kindest and most sensitive woman among you, so sensitive and tender that she would not even step on an ant, will become stingy toward the husband she loves or toward her own son or daughter.
57 She will eat her afterbirth and her newborn children secretly since there will be nothing left on account of the siege and distress with which your enemy will oppress you in your cities."
58 If you will not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and fearful name, the LORD your God,
59 then he will inflict extraordinary plagues on you and your children, great and lasting plagues, and severe and lasting illnesses.
60 "He will bring all the diseases of Egypt that you dreaded. They will cling to you.
61 "the LORD will also bring you every kind of sickness and plague not written in this Book of the Law. They will continue until you are dead.
62 "You were at one time as numerous as the stars in the sky. But only a few of you will be left. This is because you did not obey the LORD your God.
63 Just as the LORD delighted to prosper and increase you, so now the LORD will delight to destroy, exterminate, and banish you from the land that you are about to enter to possess."
64 "He'll scatter you among the peoples from one end of the earth to the other, and there you'll serve other gods made of wood and stones, which neither you nor your ancestors have known.
65 Among those nations you'll have no rest. There'll be no resting place for the soles of your feet. Instead, the LORD will give you an anxious heart, failing eyesight, and a despairing spirit.
66 You'll cling to life, being fearful by both night and day, with no assurance of survival.
67 In the morning you will say, If only it was evening! And at evening you will say, If only morning would come! Because of the fear in your hearts and the things which your eyes will see.
68 Finally, the LORD will bring you back to Egypt by ship, a place that I said you'll never see again. There you'll try to sell yourselves to your enemies as male and female slaves, but no one will buy you."
Deuteronomy 32:19-25
19 The LORD saw it and became jealous, provoked by his sons and daughters.
20 He said, “I will hide my face from them. I will see what their end will be; for they are a very perverse generation, children in whom is no faithfulness.

Nehemiah 9:16-17
