⁶ And I brought you and your fathers out of Egypt, and you came to the sea: and the Egyptians pursued your fathers with chariots and horsemen, as far as the Red Sea.

³⁷ The Israelites left Rameses to go to Succoth. There were about six hundred thousand men on foot, plus all the women and children.

⁵¹ And on that very day, the LORD brought the Israelites out of the land of Egypt by their tribal divisions.

¹ The LORD said to Moses, ² "Tell the Israelites to turn back and camp in front of Pi Hahiroth, between Migdol and the Red Sea, near Baal Zephon. ³ "The king will think that the Israelites are wandering around in the country and are closed in by the desert. ⁴ And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue you. And I will be honored through Pharaoh, and through all his armies. And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD. And they did so. ⁵ The king of Egypt was told that the people had escaped. He and his officials changed their minds and said: "What have we done? We have let the Israelites escape, and we have lost them as our slaves!" ⁶ So he had his war-carriage made ready and took his people with him: ⁷ And he took six hundred select chariots and all the chariots of Egypt and officers over all of them. ⁸ And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and he chased after the Israelites. (Now the Israelites were going out boldly.) ⁹ The Egyptians pursued them. All the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, his horsemen, and his army overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baal Zephon. ¹⁰ As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians bearing down on them! Extremely frightened, the Israelites cried out to the LORD. ¹¹ They also said to Moses, "Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you took us out to die in the desert? What have you done to us, by bringing us out of Egypt? ¹² "Did we not say in Egypt: Leave us alone that we may serve the Egyptians? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert." ¹³ Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today: for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you shall never, ever see again. ¹⁴ The LORD will fight for you, and you shall be still." ¹⁵ Then the LORD said to Moses, "Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move out!

¹¹ And you divided the sea before them, and they passed through the sea on dry ground, but their pursuers you threw into the depths like a stone into mighty waters.

¹⁵ With your arm you redeemed your people, the children of Jacob and Joseph. Selah ¹⁶ The waters saw you, God. The waters saw you, and they writhed. The depths also convulsed. ¹⁷ The clouds poured out water. The skies resounded with thunder. Your arrows also flashed around. ¹⁸ The voice of Your thunder was in the whirlwind, the lightnings lit up the world, the earth trembled and shook. ¹⁹ Your way was through the sea; your paths through the great waters. Your footsteps were not known. ²⁰ You led your people like a flock, by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

¹³ He divided the sea, and led them through; He made the waters to stand as in a bottle.

¹³ to Him who divided the Red Sea apart; for His grace endures forever; ¹⁴ and brought Israel through the midst of it; for His mercy endures forever; ¹⁵ but threw Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea; for His mercy endures forever.

¹² Who caused his glorious arm to be at Moses' right hand? Who divided the waters before them, to make himself an everlasting name? ¹³ Who led them through the depths, like a horse in the wilderness, so that they didn’t stumble?

⁴ "I brought you out of the land of Egypt. I redeemed you out of the house of bondage. I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.

³⁶ He led them out and performed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, at the Red Sea, and for forty years in the wilderness.

²⁹ By faith the people passed through the Red Sea as on dry land; but when the Egyptians tried to do so, they were drowned.
