1 One Sabbath, when he went to dine at the house of a ruler who belonged to the Pharisees, they watched him. 2 In front of Him was a man suffering from dropsy. 3 So Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in the law, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?" 4 But they kept silent. So he took hold of the man, healed him, and sent him away. 5 And He asked them, “Which of you whose son or ox falls into a pit on the Sabbath day will not immediately pull him out?” 6 And they could not reply to this. 7 When Jesus noticed how the guests chose the places of honor, He told them a parable: 8 "When someone invites you to a wedding supper, do not take the best place, for someone more distinguished than you are may have been invited, 9 Then the host who invited both of you will come and tell you, ‘Give this man your seat.’ And in humiliation, you will have to take the last place. 10 But when you are invited anywhere, go and take the lowest place, so that when your host comes in, he may say to you, 'My friend, come up to a better place.' Then you will be honored in the presence of all your fellow-guests. 11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted." 12 Then he said to his host, When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers, your kinsmen, or your rich neighbours; lest they invite you in return, and you are repaid. 13 But whenever you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind; 14 and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you—you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.” 15 When one of those reclining with Him heard this, he said to Jesus, “Blessed is everyone who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God.” 16 But Jesus replied, “A certain man prepared a great banquet and invited many guests. 17 When it was time for the banquet, he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’ 18 And they all alike began to make excuses. The first said to him, I have bought a piece of land, and I must go and see it: Please excuse me. 19 Another said, 'I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I am on my way to try them. Please excuse me.' 20 Still another said, 'I recently got married, so I can't come.' 21 The servant returned and reported all this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the city, and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.’ 22 The servant said, 'Sir, what you ordered has been done, and there is still room.' 23 Then the master told the servant, 'Go out into the streets and the lanes and make the people come in, so that my house may be full. 24 For I tell you that none of those men who were invited will get a taste of my banquet!’” 25 Now large crowds were traveling with Him, and turning He said to them: 26 “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters—yes, even his own life—he cannot be My disciple. 27 And whoever does not carry his cross and follow Me cannot be My disciple. 28 "Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. He will first sit down and estimate the cost to see whether he has enough money to finish it, won't he? 29 Otherwise, if he lays the foundation and is unable to finish the work, everyone who sees it will ridicule him, 30 saying, 'This man began to build, and was not able to finish.' 31 Or what king on his way to war with another king will not first sit down and consider whether he can engage with ten thousand men the one coming against him with twenty thousand? 32 And if he is unable, he will send a delegation while the other king is still far off, to ask for terms of peace. 33 In the same way, any one of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be My disciple. 34 "Salt is good. They came to life, and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection.

27 Do not work for food that perishes, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on Him God the Father has placed His seal of approval.” 28 Then they asked him, "What must we do to perform the works of God?" 29 Jesus replied, “This is the work of God: to believe in the One He has sent.” 30 So they asked Him, “What sign then will You perform, so that we may see it and believe You? What will You do? 31 Our fathers ate the manna in the desert as it is written, 'He gave them bread from heaven to eat.' " 32 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I tell you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." 34 "Sir," they said, "always give us that bread." 35 Jesus said, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to me will never be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty again. 36 But as I told you, you have seen Me and still you do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and him who comes to me I will not cast away; 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but to do the will of Him who sent Me. 39 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of those He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day. 40 For it is My Father’s will that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.” 41 Now the Jews began to grumble about him because he said, "I am the bread that came down from heaven," 42 And they said: Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does he now say, I came down out of Heaven? 43 “Stop grumbling among yourselves,” Jesus replied. 44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets: ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from Him comes to Me— 46 not that anyone has seen the Father except the One who is from God; only He has seen the Father. 47 Truly, truly, I tell you, he who believes has everlasting life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your forefathers ate the manna in the Desert, and they died. 50 Here is the bread that comes down out of Heaven that a man may eat it and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And this bread, which I will give for the life of the world, is My flesh.” 52 Then the Jews began to argue among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" 53 Then Jesus said to them, I tell you most truly, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 for my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood remains in Me, and I in him. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will live because of me. 58 This is the bread which came down from heaven: not as the fathers ate manna, and died: he who eats this bread shall live forever. 59 He said this while teaching in the synagogue at Capernaum.

Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare. 3 Give ear and come to me; listen to me, that you may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David. 4 Look! I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and a commander for the peoples. 5 You will summon nations you do not know. Nations that do not know you will run to you, because of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has endowed you with splendor. 6 Seek the LORD while he may be found. Call on him while he is near. 7 Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

My people will be filled with my blessings," proclaims the LORD.

My oxen and fatlings have been killed, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.’ 5 But they paid no attention and went off, one to his estate, another to his business, 6 The rest seized his servants, mistreated them, and killed them. 7 The king was enraged. He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. 8 Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited were not worthy. 9 Go therefore to the crossroads and invite to the banquet as many as you can find.’ 10 So the servants went out into the streets and gathered everyone they could find, both evil and good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests. 11 "When the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. 12 ‘Friend,’ he asked, ‘how did you get in here without wedding clothes?’ But the man was speechless. 13 Then the king told the servants, ‘Tie him hand and foot and throw him outside into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ 14 For many are invited but few are chosen.'"

24 For I tell you that none of those men who were invited will get a taste of my banquet!’”

Matthew 3:1-12

1 In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea 2 and saying, "Repent! For the kingdom of heaven is near." 3 This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him.’” 4 John wore a garment of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey. 5 People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region around the Jordan. 6 Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. 7 But when John saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his place of baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? 8 Produce fruit worthy of repentance. 9 And do not presume to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham. 10 The ax lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. 11 I baptize you with water for repentance, but after me will come One more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. 12 His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire."

Matthew 10:1-4

Luke 10:1-12

1 After this, the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of Him to every town and place He was about to visit. 2 And He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest. 3 Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. 4 Carry no purse or bag or sandals. Do not greet anyone along the road. 5 And whenever you go into a house, first say, Peace be to this house. 6 If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you. 7 Stay at the same house, eating and drinking whatever you are offered. For the worker is worthy of his wages. Do not move around from house to house. 8 If you enter a town and they welcome you, eat whatever is set before you. 9 Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God is near you.’ 10 But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into its streets and say, 11 ‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet, we wipe off as a testimony against you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God is near.’ 12 I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.

Then the flood came and destroyed them all. 28 It was the same in the days of Lot: People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. 29 But on the day Lot left Sodom, fire and brimstone rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 It will be just like that on the day the Son of Man is revealed. 31 A man who is on the roof of his house that day, with his goods in the house, must not go down to get them, and a man in the field, too, must not turn back.

1 Corinthians 9:19-23

19 Though I am free of obligation to anyone, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the Law I became like one under the Law (though I myself am not under the Law), to win those under the Law. 21 To those without the Law I became like one without the Law (though I am not outside the law of God but am under the law of Christ), to win those without the Law. 22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. He did this to create in Himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace 16 and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by which he put to death their enmity. 17 He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. 18 For through Him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. 19 So then, you are no longer strangers and aliens, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of God’s household, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone. 21 in whom the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord; 22 And in Him you too are being built together into a dwelling place for God in His Spirit.

4 Indeed, when we were with you, we kept warning you that we would suffer persecution; and as you know, it has come to pass. 5 For this reason, when I could endure it no longer, I also sent to find out about your faith, for fear that the tempter might have tempted you, and our labor would be in vain.

"What is that to us?" they answered; "you must see to that." 5 So Judas threw the silver into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself. 6 The chief priests picked up the pieces of silver and said, “It is unlawful to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money.” 7 So they decided to use the money to buy the Potter's Field as a burial ground for foreigners. 8 That is why it has been called the Field of Blood to this day.

1 Corinthians 3:11-14

11 For no one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, 13 his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work. 14 If what he has built survives, he will receive a reward.

Hebrews 6:4-8

4 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age— 6 and then have fallen away—to be restored again to repentance, because they themselves are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting Him to open shame. 7 Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is tended receives the blessing of God. 8 But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless, and its curse is imminent. In the end it will be burned.

2 Peter 2:19-22

19 They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves to corruption. For a man is a slave to whatever has overcome him. 20 For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled by them, and overcome, they are worse off in the end than at the beginning. 21 It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness than to know it and turn their backs on the holy commandment that was committed to them. 22 Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed goes back to her wallowing in the mud.”

2 John 1:8

8 Watch yourselves, that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may receive a full reward.

20 "You say you have counsel and [military] strength for war. These are only words. To whom are you looking for support that you rebel against me? 21 Now, behold, you trust on the staff of this bruised reed, on Egypt, on which if a man leans, it will go into his hand and pierce it. So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust on him. 22 And if ye say to me, We rely upon the LORD our God: is it not he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has removed, saying to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?

He said, "Is he still alive? He is my brother." 33 Now the men took it as a sign, and were quick to pick up on his word. They said: "Benhadad is your brother." Then he said: "Go and get him." So Ben-hadad came out to him and he made him get up into his carriage. 34 Benhadad said: "The towns my father took from your father I will give back. You may name streets for yourself in Damascus as my father did in Samaria." As for me, at the price of this agreement you will let me go. So he made an agreement with him and let him go.

James 4:6-10

6 But He gives us more grace. This is why it says: “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” 7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded. 9 Grieve, mourn, and weep. Turn your laughter to mourning, and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will raise you up.

And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? How could you conceive such a deed in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God!” 5 On hearing these words, Ananias fell down and died. And great fear came over all who heard what had happened.

Acts 8:19-22

19 saying, "Give me also this power, so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit." 20 But Peter replied, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! 21 You have no part or share in our ministry, because your heart is not right before God. 22 Repent, therefore, of your wickedness, and pray to the Lord. Perhaps He will forgive you for the intent of your heart.

Philippians 3:7-8

7 But whatever was gain to me, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8 More than that, I count all things as loss compared to the surpassing excellence of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ

4 God also testified about it with signs, wonders, and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit given according to his will. 5 For it is not to angels that He has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking. 6 But there is a place where someone has testified, "What is man that you are mindful of him, or the son of man that you care for him? 7 You made him a little lower than the angels; You crowned him with glory and honor 8 You have put everything under his feet!" In thus making everything subject to man, God left nothing that was not subjected to him. But we do not as yet see everything made subject to him,
