¹⁹ As many as I love I rebuke and discipline; so be zealous and repent!

¹⁷ Then His disciples remembered that it stands written, “Zeal for Your House consumes me.”

¹¹ not lagging in diligence; serving the Lord with an enthusiastic spirit;

³² But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord, so that we may not be condemned with the world.

⁹ as unknown and well known, as dying and we live on, as chastened and not killed;

¹¹ Just consider your own being caused to sorrow in a godly manner, how much diligence it produced in you—what self-defense, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what zeal, what punishment! At every point you have demonstrated yourselves to be clear in the matter.

¹⁸ Now it is good to be zealous in a good thing at any time, and not only when I am present with you.

¹⁴ who gave Himself for us, so that He might redeem us from all lawlessness and purify for Himself a special people, zealous for good works.

⁵ And you have forgotten the exhortation that instructs you as sons: “My son, do not make light of the LORD’s discipline, nor lose heart when you are reproved by Him; ⁶ because whom the LORD loves He chastens, yes scourges every son whom He accepts.” ⁷ If you are enduring discipline, God is dealing with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not discipline? ⁸ But if you are without discipline (something everyone undergoes), then you are illegitimate and not sons. ⁹ Furthermore, we have had our human fathers as correctors and respected them. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? ¹⁰ Now they indeed disciplined us during a short period as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, so that we may partake of His holiness. ¹¹ Now no discipline seems to be pleasant at the time, but painful; yet afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been exercised by it.

¹² A man who endures testing is blessed, because upon becoming approved he will receive the crown of the life that the Lord has promised to those loving Him.

⁵ So think about from where you have drifted and repent, and do the first works, or else I will come at you swiftly and remove your lampstand out of its place —unless you do repent.

²¹ I even gave her time so that she might repent, but she does not want to repent of her fornication. ²² So, I am throwing her into a sick bed and those adulterating with her into great affliction, unless they repent of her works.
