⁶ I have planted, Apollos watered: but God hath given the increase.

¹⁰ According to the grace of God which is given to me, as a wise master-builder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth upon it. But let every man take heed how he buildeth upon it. ¹¹ For other foundation can no man lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. ¹² Now if any man buildeth upon this foundation, gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; ¹³ Every man's work will be made manifest: for the day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will try every man's work, of what sort it is. ¹⁴ If any man's work abideth which he hath built upon it, he shall receive a reward.

¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me, was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

³ And when I come, whomsoever ye shall approve by your letters, them will I send to bring your liberality to Jerusalem.

²⁴ Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.

¹ Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you. ² Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men:

⁸ For by grace are ye saved, through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: ⁹ Not by works, lest any man should boast. ¹⁰ For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

²⁵ And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;

²⁹ For to you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

¹² Buried with him in baptism, in which also ye are raised with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

¹⁰ Aristarchus, my fellow-prisoner, saluteth you; and Marcus, sister's son to Barnabas, (concerning whom ye received commandments: if he should come to you, receive him;)

¹³ But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren, beloved by the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation, through sanctification of the Spirit, and belief of the truth: ¹⁴ To which he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁴ But when the kindness and love of God our Savior towards man appeared, ⁵ Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit; ⁶ Which he shed on us abundantly, through Jesus Christ our Savior;

¹⁶ Do not err, my beloved brethren. ¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. ¹⁸ Of his own will he hath begotten us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first-fruits of his creatures.

² Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, to obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you, and peace, be multiplied. ³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again to a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

⁸ We therefore ought to receive such, that we may be fellow-helpers to the truth. ⁹ I wrote to the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the pre-eminence among them, receiveth us not. ¹⁰ Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content with that, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.
