³⁴ And when the governor had read the letter, he asked of what province he was. And when he understood that he was of Cilicia,

⁵ Who knew me from the beginning, (if they would testify) that after the strictest sect of our religion, I lived a Pharisee.

² For I bear them testimony that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. ³ For they, being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God.

¹ I say then, Hath God cast away his people? By no means. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

²² Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the offspring of Abraham? so am I.

¹⁴ And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in my own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.

²¹ Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;

¹⁷ They zealously affect you, but not well; for, they would exclude you, that ye may affect them. ¹⁸ But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you.

⁵ Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; with respect to the law, a Pharisee; ⁶ Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; with respect to the righteousness which is by the law, blameless.
