¹⁸ Then answered the Jews, and said to him, What sign showest thou to us, seeing that thou doest these things?

¹ The Pharisees also and the Sadducees came, and, tempting, desired him that he would show them a sign from heaven. ² He answered and said to them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. ³ And in the morning, It will be foul weather to-day: for the sky is red and lowering. ²⁵ And they asked him, and said to him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou art not that Christ, nor Elijah, neither that prophet?

³⁰ They said therefore to him, What sign showest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

⁷ And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name have ye done this?

²⁸ Saying, Did we not strictly command you, that ye should not teach in this name? and behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.
