John 16:1 Cross References - Wesley

¹ I have told you these things, that ye may not be offended. They will put you out of the synagogues;

⁶ And as they departed,

²¹ Yet hath he not root in himself, and so endureth but for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, straight-way he is offended.

⁵⁷ And they were offended at him. But Jesus said to them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.

¹⁰ And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and hate one another.

³¹ Then saith Jesus to them, All ye will be offended at me this night, for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered. ³² But after I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee. ³³ Peter answering said to him, Tho' all should be offended at thee, I will never be offended.

²¹ It is good, not to eat flesh, neither to drink wine, nor to do any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or made weak.

¹¹ I have spoken these things to you, that my joy might remain in you, and your joy might be full.

¹⁸ If the world hate you, ye know it hated me, before it hated you. ¹⁹ If ye were of the world, the world would love its own; but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. ²⁰ Remember the word that I said to you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. ²¹ But all these things will they do to you, for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me. ²² If I had not come and spoken to them, they had not had sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. ²³ He that hateth me, hateth my Father also. If I had not done among them the works which no other did, they had not had sin: ²⁴ but now have they seen them, and yet hated both me and my Father. ²⁵ So that the word which is written in their law is fulfilled, They hated me without a cause. ²⁶ But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me. ²⁷ Ye also testify, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

⁴ But I have told you these things, that when the time shall come, ye may remember I told you them. I did not tell you these things at the beginning, because I was with you.

¹⁰ That ye may try the things that are excellent, that ye may be sincere and without offence unto the day of Christ,

⁸ And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, to them who stumble, not believing the word, whereunto also they were appointed.
